Arena Puebla Report 7/10/2017

Ares, Sagrado and Misterioso vs Lestat, The Panther and Blue Panther Jr.

Who’s Who?

Ares as may be obvious lost a hair vs hair mask last week and is wearing red pants and has no mask. He is teaming with masked man Sagrado(Sacred) who has a thick white cross on his black mask and Misterioso in the green mask that has tassels hanging over his neck. Lately Misterioso has been stealing masks posts match and continues that trend tonight

While on the good guy side we have Blue Panther in all blue with his partners both in black. The best way to tell Lestat and The Panther apart is the panther has white on both his shirt and mask while Lestat doesn’t.

How was the match?

Good, if you know me you know that I like the chemistry The Panther Bros.have with one another. They continue to make me a fan here, this match works so well because both teams feel relatively equal matched. Another moment worth pointing out which is normally always worth noting is that Misterioso puts on The Panther mask as a taunt post match. I hope this leads somewhere down the line and isn’t just Misterioso doing something for his own amusement.

Daly la Caribeña (c) vs Marcela for the CMLL World Women's Championship

Who’s who?

Daly’s champion coming in here and has had it for about a year and a half, having won it all those days ago from Marcela. These two are likely the best two women on the roster. Daly is blonde and wearing red white and blue while her opponent Marcela has red/ruby hadir and is wearing red white and green.

How was the match?

Good, I can’t really compare as I haven’t seen much out of the Women’s division of CMLL. I have only heard bad things, but perhaps these two are the exception to the rule? They seemed to have pretty decent chemistry with one another, a good back and forth contest with lots of fun spots throughout. Hopefully, Daly la Caribena can continue to carry this gold onto even greater defenses.

Dragon Lee, Titan and Valiente vs Euforia, El Felino and Cavernario

Who’s who?

Dragon Lee is wearing a gold/black mask and briefs while teaming with Titan in a colorful mask and full pants and Valiente is in white boots with shiny mask and attire with some green trim.

Meanwhile on team rudo Felino is the older unmasked man, while Cavernario is a big younger and also wearing a cheetah print singlet. Their masked man 3rd is Euforia of the Los Guerreros heel group.

How was the match?

Good, though obviously there were a few mistakes sprinkled throughout. There is a segment of the match where Dragon Lee and company seem to have trouble communicating exactly what’s happening next and looks a little goofy with talent bumping into one another as they fumble through the spots. Still it’s just so awkwardness and better than a botch where someone gets hurt, like a few weeks ago when Hechicero busted open Atlantis. Beyond that sequence one of the falls is a little fishy with Titan in the ropes, but still submitting.

Still, it’s a live performance and these things happen and the match is still pretty fun. Mr. Niebla was originally booked in this match instead of Euforia, a last minute change makes one worry. Hopefully for whatever reason this change happened, Mr. Niebla is fine.

Niebla Roja vs Ultimo Guerrero, Mano a Mano, 2/3 falls

Who’s who?

Niebla Roja is the masked man in red, which is his trademark color being called ‘Red Mist’ after all. Meanwhile in black and blue gear is Ultimo Guerrero.

This match is one of the rare singles 2/3 matches that isn’t for a belt or mask. Instead it is acting as another chapter in this feud before we get the eventual blow off Hair vs Mask match both men have been teasing the last several weeks.

How’s the match?

Underwhelming just like their last singles match in the semi-finals of the Universal Tournament last friday. It’s just hard to really care about these two fighting until we get to the Mask vs Hair mask. This was a rubber band booking with Niebla looking much more competent this time vs Ultimo, who schooled him last Friday to advance into the finals of the Universal Championship.

The thing is though... this win meant nothing. Roja might look stronger, but he didn’t win a mask or belt or semi-finals of a tournament. Hopefully, he will win the feud as there is more value in building Roja’s mask than giving Ultimo an upcoming stars mask, imo. I like both talents, but lately their feud hasn’t been delivering as hot of matches as one would hope.

Ingobernables(Rush and Pierroth) and Volador Jr. vs Caristico, Ripper and Kraneo

Who’s who?

Rush and Pierroth are father and son with Rush being the son in white, Pierroth the father in black and white, both men wear boots with tassel as a trademark. They are rudos teaming with tecnico Volador Jr. whose trunks are black with a white tribal detailing on it.

Meanwhile we have Cartisico in white trademark white pants and mask is teaming with two rudos, Ripper is in red and yellow and a mask that’s based off the Psicosis mask because he was previously Psicosis(II), but AAA owns that name so he has gone by Ripper in CMLL since he came over. Their 3rd is Kraneo who is wearing a purple/black bodysuit and a skull like mask.

How’s the match?

Good, probably the match of the night. It’s fun to see Voldor look so natural with Los Ingobernables, it’s hopefully teasing Ingobernables getting a new member soon or a few. Right now with only 2 people in the group it feels small for CMLL where trios matches are the norm any stable worth it’s weight in salt should have 3 members. Caristico is as always good, Pierroth is looking good in trios action which normally helps with him. Hopefully he can pull out a good hair vs hair match on Friday night vs Vagellys, but I’m not exactly holding my breath.
