EPICA Plays First Show As Support Act For METALLICA
EPICA played the first show as the support act for METALLICA earlier today (Wednesday, May 17) at Stade De France in Paris, France. Fan-filmed video of the concert can be seen below.
EPICA was added to the METALLICA bill earlier this week as the replacement for FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, They will also open for METALLICA on Sunday, May 28 at Volksparkstadion in Hamburg, Germany.
When the shows were first announced, EPICA vocalist Simone Simons commented: "We are beyond excited to share the stage with the legendary METALLICA that has had a great influence on the whole music scene, including EPICA."
On Monday, May 15, METALLICA wrote on social media: "Fresh off their successful Epic Apocalypse tour, @Epica will be stepping in for @FFDP on the #M72 World Tour on Wednesday in Paris and Sunday, May 28, in Hamburg. We're excited that they can join the ride."
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH canceled three of its shows with METALLICA in order to allow singer Ivan Moody to fully recover from his recent hernia surgery.
METALLICA's "M72" world tour is featuring two-night stops in nearly two dozen cities. Presented worldwide by Liquid Death and Blackened American Whiskey (in North America only) and promoted by Live Nation, the 46-show trek launched in Amsterdam on April 27 and includes shows all over Europe and North America through 2024. Each "No Repeat Weekend" on "M72" will feature two completely different setlists and support lineups. The "M72" tour will feature a bold new in-the-round stage design that relocates the famed METALLICA Snake Pit to center stage, as well as the "I Disappear" full-tour pass and the debut of discounted tickets for fans under 16 years of age. Other opening acts for the tour include PANTERA, MAMMOTH WVH, ICE NINE KILLS, ARCHITECTS, VOLBEAT, GRETA VAN FLEET and Floor Jansen.

Today: Napalm Death, Skindred and Volbeat!
It was a great evening, each of the bands bringing their particular flavor of music and energy.
Napalm Death were especially great for a Monday, when the amounts of hate are higher in the week.
Skindred made people dance and singular and clap their hands, along with their fantastic songs.
And las Volbeat, with a great setlist, beautiful voice and sound and heartfelt moments.
Loved it!

UN-HOLY CRAP!!! GHOST, VOLBEAT AND TWIN TEMPLE BRING A NIGHT OF WORSHIP TO THE DCU CENTER!
UN-HOLY CRAP!! If you haven’t been to a Ghost show you better get yourself there. A Friday night in Worcester MA, Ghost fans gathered for a night of worship. It was a sea of black that filled the stands at the DCU Center.
After two fantastic opening sets from supports Twin Temple and Volbeat, it was time for the Un-Holy Lord Papa Emeritus IV and his Nameless Ghouls to take the stage and perform their insanely theatrical set. If you have not seen a Ghost concert, see them on their current tour if its in a city near you.
The intro music built up the fans energy and got them antsy for Ghost to take the stage. As the curtain shielded the whole stage, the introduction musical number, Imperium began to play the lights went out and the curtain dropped. Ghost finally took the stage immediately opening with Kaisarion.
Ghost is known for their theatrics and insane stage set up. Their stage set up consisted of risers, beautiful lighting and a backdrop that made it seem as if there were giant stain glassed windows were actually there.
Ghost treated their fans to a fifteen song setlist that consisted of older material and new material and a few from their new record due out in March. Not only did the band play their own selection of songs they also threw in a cover of Metallicas Enter Sandman and lets just say in my honest opinion, that was one INSANE cover. Ghost ended their set with Square Hammer.

A short spoiler-free* PSA about the IMPERATOUR
Hey folks, so I know for a fact that a lot of people have been disappointed by the setlist on the Imperatour, myself included. I think we all truly expected this to be the celebration of Impera (and the era that goes along with it) and... It’s not what it is. I didn’t want to know the setlist ahead of time so I found out during the ritual and got progressively sadder and sadder until Square Hammer. So I kinda want people to know and accept that for now, the Imperatour is still relatively similar to the tours Named Death, with a couple bonuses. Don’t go in hoping to hear all of your favorite Impera songs. It’s not the band’s fault and maybe towards the end of the tour, we’ll have heard more Impera songs. But for now, keep in mind that the progress they have made between the Volbeat tour and now isn’t all that huge. Getting excited for brand new content and not getting my fill was pretty frustrating and I would like to prevent that from happening to others.
This is not a rant, of course. I do not feel an ounce of resentment for the band and I’m aware of what they’ve had to go through. I’m still very grateful for everything they do. All I’m saying is; if you’re the kind of person who doesn’t want to know the setlist before the show and if you’re getting hyped because you’re expecting to hear a lot of new live performances, be warned that this might not be what you’re going to get. It’s going to be great and fun, but maybe it won’t be fundamentally different from things we have heard and seen before.
I’m writing this as someone who saw them on the 18th. As Tobias has mentioned, things may change so I’m not trying to predict the future here.

Italian for 'venom', »Veleno« marks FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE’s first record in 3 years, since the release of their critically acclaimed record »King« (2016). The 'metal part' of »Veleno« was recorded in Rome, Italy at Bloom Recording Studio and Kick Studio with long-standing collaborator Marco Mastrobuono, while the 'orchestral part' - the ensembles - were tracked at Musica Teclas Studio in Perugia. Fleshgod Apocalypse then took the effort over to Grammy-nominated Jacob Hansen (VOLBEAT, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, EPICA) at Hansen Studios in Denmark for mixing and mastering. The entire production of »Veleno« took, according to Paoli, about three months. Artwork for the album was created by Travis Smith (AVENGED SEVENFOLD, OPETH, KATATONIA).

I'll post photos and maybe videos later. My head hurts too much to look over them to see what's good quality.
Here are some stuff that I remember kind of in chronological order:
There was a woman who screamed at the Bad Wolves singer to take his shirt off. A man next to her then screamed for the singer to (I'm dying typing this) show him his butthole. The singer reacted graciously by making jokes about the man liking butts
The Bad Wolves singer kept throwing open and partially drunk water bottles into the crowd
When Volbeat came on stage, Jon was the first one. Him, Michael, and Kaspar all came in from the right and Flemming came in from the left
The audience was really in sync when singing Lola Montez. Michael repeated the last line three times to hear us. He told us that it was good (or maybe bad) for his ego
At one point, Michael almost started singing at the wrong cue, and he laughed at himself. I wasn't looking in Kaspar's direction, but he must have given him a look or shook his head at him because Michael looked sheepishly over at Kas after it happened
Michael said his daughter likes Jojo Siwa and that he didn't know who the fuck Jojo Siwa was. She kept asking him to play her music (?) and that when he looked at his son, he could tell what the kid was thinking and that was "please don't play her"
I made heart hands at Kaspar when they did the whole "give it up for ____ on ____" thing. I think he noticed (not sure though)
The band left the stage super fast after the last normal setlist song to let us simmer for an encore. They came back and played the entire four song encore
For Evigt (the Danish version) was an encore song. Before the end of the song, Michael noticed people were singing along and he asked in surprise "you know Danish?"
After the very last encore song, Michael turned to face Jon and (after awhile) convinced him to keep drumming for a last instrumental finale. Jon kept shaking his head "no" and Michael and Kas kept nodding at him as they played the same notes over and over to get Jon to play along
I'll post more later

EPICA Replaces FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH As Support Act For METALLICA In Paris And Hamburg
EPICA has replaced FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH as the support act for METALLICA on Wednesday, May 17 at Stade De France in Paris, France and on Sunday, May 28 at Volksparkstadion in Hamburg, Germany.
EPICA vocalist Simone Simons comments: "We are beyond excited to share the stage with the legendary METALLICA that has had a great influence on the whole music scene, including EPICA."
Earlier today (Monday, May 15),METALLICA wrote on social media: "Fresh off their successful Epic Apocalypse tour, @Epica will be stepping in for @FFDP on the #M72 World Tour on Wednesday in Paris and Sunday, May 28, in Hamburg. We're excited that they can join the ride."
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH previously canceled its April 29 appearance at the Johan Cruijf Arena in Amsterdam, Netherlands as the support act for METALLICA. Replacing the Las Vegas-based act on the bill was NIGHTWISH singer Floor Jansen, who played a set in support of her recently released solo album "Paragon". At the time, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH released statement via social media explaining that singer Ivan Moody's recovery from surgery to correct an acute hernia injury "proved more challenging than initially thought", forcing the band to pull out of the Amsterdam show. But FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH vowed to "perform ALL subsequent scheduled dates," including Paris.
Other opening acts for the tour include PANTERA, MAMMOTH WVH, ICE NINE KILLS, ARCHITECTS, VOLBEAT and GRETA VAN FLEET.
