Appendix XII: Mutual-Aid Arrangements in the Villages of Netherlands at the Present Day
The Report of the Agricultural Commission of Netherlands contains many illustrations relative to this subject, and my friend, M. Cornelissen, was kind enough to pick out for me the corresponding passages from these bulky volumes (Uitkomsten van het Onderzoek naar den Toestand van den Landbouw in Nederland [Results of the Research into the State of Agriculture in the Netherlands], 2 vols. 1890).
The habit of having one thrashing-machine, which makes the round of many farms, hiring it in turn, is very widely spread, as it is by this time in nearly every other country. But one finds here and there a commune which keeps one thrashing-machine for the community (vol. I. xviii. p. 31).
The farmers who have not the necessary numbers of horses for the plough borrow the horses from their neighbours. The habit of keeping one communal ox, or one communal stallion, is very common.
When the village has to raise the ground (in the low districts) in order to build a communal school, or for one of the peasants in order to build a new house, a bede is usually convoked. The same is done for those farmers who have to move. The bede is altogether a widely-spread custom, and no one, rich or poor, will fail to come with his horse and cart.
The renting in common, by several agricultural labourers, of a meadow, for keeping their cows, is found in several parts of the land; it is also frequent that the farmer, who has plough and horses, ploughs the land for his hired labourers (vol. I. xxii. p. 18, etc.).
As to the farmers’ unions for buying seed, exporting vegetables to England and so on, they become universal. The same is seen in Belgium. In 1896, seven years after peasants’ guilds had been started, first in the Flemish part of the country, and four years only after they were introduced in the Walloon portion of Belgium, there were already 207 such guilds, with a membership of 10,000 (Annuaire de la Science Agronomique [Yearbook of Agronomic Science], vol. I. (2), 1896, pp. 148 and 149).

Call to Action For A Retraction: Lies in the Journal of Astronomy in Culture
Another Open Letter, this time to the Journal of Astronomy in Culture, formerly the Archaeoastronomy Journal. It contains some issues. Cut n paste the letter below the this address:
BE POLITE!
August 6, 2024
Professor Geraldo Aldana
Editor in Chief
Journal of Astronomy in Culture
Unsourced Claims In Archaeoastronomy Journal Vol XXII
Dear Professor Aldana,
I am writing to inform you of an issue I assume you are unaware of, namely the unsourced claims made by Professor John Hoopes in his article ‘Book Review - The End of Time: The Maya Mystery of 2012 and 2012: Science and Prophecy of the Ancient Maya’ which was presented in Vol XXII of your journal, which was released in 2011. On page 143, the following statement is made:
“The ‘2012 phenomenon’ makes much more sense in the context of astrology than astronomy, as becomes clear from the influence of Dane Rudhyar on New Age prophet and guru Jose’ Arguelles and on John Major Jenkins (who once worked as a professional astrologer).”
In the same column Hoopes wrote:
“His (Rudhyar’s) book ‘The Planetaization of Consciousness helped inspire the first Whole Earth Festival while ‘The Sun is Also a Star’ provided intellectual underpinnings for claims by Arguelles (for whom Rudhyar was a personal mentor) and Jenkins about Ancient Maya concerns with the movements of the sun relative to the Milky Way galaxy.”
Jenkins challenged the idea his work was informed by Rudhyar, and the statement that Jenkins once worked as a professional astrologer. Jenkins wrote to the then editor in chief, Doctor John Carlson, explaining these statements are incorrect, unsupported, and should be retracted. In Jenkins’ words:
“I am not a professional astrologer, never have been and never tried to work as one. An early book of mine ‘Tzolkin’ criticized pop/casual astrology. Hoopes’s intent to defame is evident in the (false) identification of me as a professional astrologer…”
To be clear, there is no question John Major Jenkins’ conclusions on the 2012 phenomenon did in fact qualify as astrology. However, his work on a ‘galactic alignment’ as he called it is based on precession of the equinoxes, an astronomical phenomenon, and is then interpreted through the lens of astrology. This is a subtle, but important distinction. I am sure you do not need informed of the origins of astronomy, and how painstaking observations mingled freely with outlandish cosmological concepts. Jenkins’ work on the astronomy, was astronomy. Hoopes failing to account for the difference in the observations and the cosmology is perhaps excusable, it is reasonable Hoopes applied too ‘broad a brush’ when covering Jenkins’ writings. However, the claim Jenkins worked as a professional astrologer is one that allows for no speculation, this is a factual claim. One that presumably could be supported with evidence. It is not, and it has been challenged. To this day, the claim Jenkins worked as a professional astrologer is unsourced, and remains in print. Jenkins made certain to complain loudly of this before he passed away, and many are aware of this issue.
That is where I hope you will have more wisdom than your predecessor. Please retract the unsupported claims, in particular the claims Jenkins worked as a professional astrologer. In the current social environment, there is no question the trustworthiness of science is more heavily questioned than it has been in decades, perhaps even a few centuries. Many reasons for this could be posited, but one thing is clear: Known falsehoods left in print is one of the most damning things to the public image of a scientist, field of study, or journal. It ‘proves’ the entity in question is untrustworthy. With this in mind, I put it to you there is nothing to be gained by erroneously claiming John Major Jenkins once worked as a professional astrologer, and so much to lose. That statement could be retracted without retracting the article Hoopes wrote, protecting the integrity of the Journal of Astronomy in Culture without ‘losing face’. As a matter of fact, I do believe this could help create a better image. The willingness to admit an error is, after all, an admirable quality. One heavily associated with the scientific method.
Thank you for taking the time to read and consider these words.

Destiel Chronicles
(Vol. XXII)
It was a love story from the very beginning.
Worry about you
(6x15/6x17/6x19)
Hi my friends! Today I want to talk with seriousness about one of the most hilarious episodes from season 6. And because it was written by Ben Edlund, there's juicy Destiel elements there. I will talk too about episode 18 and 19, near to the end, because I will take some points from those too.
I want to give thanks to my friend @agusvedder , she made the gifs for this meta! Love ya girl!
Ok, let's start this volume...
Balthazar calling Cas as Cassie
When 6x15 "The French Mistake" starts, Balthazar appears in Bobby's house, moving fast as Cas did in 6x03, appearing and dissapearing the whole time looking for things to use in a spell... In the middle of that loud scene, this dialogue is developed...
BALTHAZAR: Raphael is after us all. You see, he's consolidated his strength. And now he's on the move.
SAM: And where's Cas?
BALTHAZAR: Oh, Cassie? He is deep, deep underground. So, good old Raffy put out a hit list on every last Samaritan who helped our dear Cas – Including both of you. And so much more importantly, me. See, he wants to draw Cas out in the open.
First of all I want to say, each episode written by Edlund, shows us DEAN AND CAS ARE IN LOVE, each one of them. The man knew what he was doing writing their relationship as romantic. So, I would say... This wasn't the exception... Why Balthazar would name Cas as Cassie (Dean's first love?) Balthazar doesn't know that, but we do, the spectators.
Dean exaggeratedly eye fucking Misha/Cas
One of the most hilarious scenes was this one here ...
Tumblr media
Dean playing to be Jensen playing to be Dean, and the eye fucking. Delightful, just because Dean knows Cas and him do that thing the whole time. So, he plays his role, but because Dean is an awful actor, that's the result.
Pretty interesting Dean is aware of it... Just saying.
Dean starts to worry about Cas
By the end of the episode, Raphael find the boys and Balthazar, but Cas makes his apparition. But why on Earth the camera just took Dean's facial reaction to what Cas was saying and doing?
That's fear and concern in Dean's face... He is maybe seeing things are not good... And he's worry because CAS doesn't tell him the whole thing...
CASTIEL It was Balthazar's plan. I would have done the same thing.
Castiel is in soldier mode these words made Dean be a little mad at him...
DEAN That's not comforting, Cas.
He would expect something different from his friend, like maybe, some kind of protection, and not be used as bait. So here Dean is feeling a little disappointed.
CASTIEL When will I be able to make you understand? If I lose against Raphael, we all lose. Everything.
Edlund is pointing one of the excuses for Castiel taking this kind of decisions and positions. Castiel needs desperately to win against Raphael, and he's willing to everything to fulfill that mission. Even lie to the Winchesters and work with Crowley.
DEAN Yeah, Cas. We know the stakes. That's about all you've told us!
Tumblr media
CASTIEL I'm sorry about all this. I'll explain when I can.
Cas would love to count with them and not lie them, but he's at war.
DEAN Friggin' angels.
Edlund's Dean quote each time an angel surprisingly vanish in front of him 🤣
Jealous!Dean attacks again
In episode 6x17 "My heart will go on"
When Fate is attempting to kill Dean and Sam
In that abbandoned restaurante, i noticed something interesting. Remember I mention the colored codification started in this season? Well... We have another Destiel Coded Colored foreshadow. The burner knobs were colored in BLUE and RED, representing Dean and Cas, but toxic, angry Dean. And the whole place exploded... So... What a big and huge foreshadow for the settlement of the bid Destiel fight and break up in the following episodes, isn't?
But we're here to talk about Jealous! Dean, because we love it.
When Cas saves the boys from that explosion, this was part of the talk...
DEAN So we've pissed fate off personally.
CASTIEL If I know her – and I do – she won't stop until you're dead.
DEAN  Awesome. So what do we do?
CASTIEL Kill her.
SAM Kill fate?
CASTIEL Do you have another suggestion?
SAM No, I'm – I just mean, uh...Can you even do that?
CASTIEL Balthazar has a weapon that will work against her.
DEAN Of course he does. Yeah. Boy, that guy's just got it covered, doesn't he?You need new friends, Cas.
Tumblr media
Do you notice the shade of jealousy here?? And then...
The dialogue between Fate and Cas showed us again how desperately was Castiel to win the war. And Balthazar was working for him. We see more about how CAS is getting into the dark side for the biggest purpose.
But even so, they showed us too, he's worry about Sam and Dean safety.
By the end of the episode, we had another dialogue between Castiel and the boys...
And Cas lies to Dean...
Tumblr media
And then Dean makes a bad joke, and Cas dissapears again.
Tumblr media
DEAN I'll tell you one thing about Cas, he does not appreciate the finer things.
Dean says this because isn't the first time he makes a joke and Cas vanishes. But I wonder if is related to Castiel feeling a little bit offended, and you'll know what I mean in the next point...
Dean mocking CAS, just because he enjoys it
In episode 6x19 "Mommy Dearest" we can see how since this scene happened...
Tumblr media
So, Cas feel offended, and Sammy pointed that to Dean. Dean gets a little surprised, but...I'm sure this was very enjoyable for him, because then he'll mock him again.
Also... I want to mark here something... If Cas was able to dissapeard by flying here, I'm sure he may do it. Because... I recall that scene in the car in season 5 (last episode) when Dean mocked him about not having sense of humor, he vanished then. And the we had the Kate Winslet's breast joke, and now this one... So...
We had this one here...
Tumblr media
Again mentioning babies, because he knows Cas got mad about that, and he repeats the action. He's enjoying it, for sure.
But we will have a sweet Innocent comment, I just wanted to share...
Tumblr media
The thing here is the sexual innuendos in this episode, firs the famous "Cas get out of my ass!" And now this one here, so funny the double meaning... And Dean's gay panic face 🤣🤣🤣😏.
Castiel is worried about Dean
This episode showed us too, Cas in his soldier mode, can see things the boys can't. Like those little kids in that police station.
Castiel and Dean fought because CAS wasn't agreed with them in driving those kids to their home.
Tumblr media
CAS: Dean, Dean. Millions of lives are at stakes here, not just two. Stay focused.
Castiel in soldier mode, trying to make Dean to understand the danger in his decision, but it was late, because Sam and Dean saw in those kids themselves.
DEAN: Are you kidding?
CAS: There's a greater purpose here.
Castiel's excuse to do the things he's doing.
DEAN: You know what, I-I'm getting a little sick and tired of the greater purposes, okay? I think what I'd like to do now is save a couple of kids. If you don't mind. We'll catch up. Okay guys, let's go. C'mon. (Dean walks out. Joe, Ryan and Sam follow.)
Cas and Dean are in different pages, Cas is cold minded, first killing Lenore as it was nothing, then torturing the sheriff, and now... Because he's feeling worry about Sam and Dean...
Tumblr media
But we know he already fix this sending Crowley.
Another thing is, when Eve attacks Dean, the only one calling his name in despair was CAS...
But when he had to heal him, he took his time, studying Eve's dead body on the ground... He was worried there... Because it supposed that monster should be alive to find Purgatory...
But then Sam reminded him Dean was hurt. So he approached him, and the way he heals him caught my attention, he out his hand on Dean's shoulder... As if he wanted to say something... But he didn't. He just healed him. Maybe with a shade of relief Dean was ok...
Just an addition...NUMBER 25
Ok, the number 25 was mentioned a couple of times in this episode. It was the age of the patient that died and the address in which Eve was.
So... What does this number means? It represents the Argonaut in the arcana. The Argonaut is a Greek hero (it could be Cas) but it also represents in numerology the number 7 that means the inner war to choose the right path and the impulsiveness as a dangerous way to make the wrong decisions... It sound familiar, isn't?
To Conclude
Dean was worried about Castiel because he saw how dangerous was Raphael.
Castiel is between his soldier duty and the love he has for the Winchesters. As we will see in the following metas, he's worried about their safety.
Dean enjoys mocking CAS, that's not news...
Jealous!Dean is delightful too...
Castiel lying to their friends for the biggest purpose, as his excuse. And his impulsiveness and desperation to win a war.
I hope you like this meta, I see you in the next Chronicle. 😘💞

Fine morning very hard frost F13° at 7 ¼ and only F21° with sun out at 8 ¼ am – at German vocabulary and grammar till breakfast about 9 in about ¾ hour – A- read aloud a few pages of vol. 2 Lardners’ Russia – had Joseph Mann for clay for Listeriwck blasting – from 10 to 11 ¼ (at which hour A- rode off to Heath and Willow field) read from p. 29 to 64 vol. 1 Lardners’ Rome and making a note respecting the Roman juger etc. till 12 – the Rubbio = about 7 1/7 jugers = about 4 English acres and land in the Agro Romano (according to Niebuhr vid. Foreign Quarterly n° xxii and Lardner 60/371 vol. 1 History Rome) lets at 20 scudi the rubbio and in fertile situations e.g. the vale of Ariccia at 60 to 70 Scudi the rubbio and one scudo = 4/3 ¼ (vid. Thomsons British Annual for this year) .:. 4/3 ¼ x 20 = £4.5.5 = 21/4 1/2d. per acre and .:. land in the value of [?][?] 330 on the arno Ariccia lets at from 3 to 4 guineas per acre – then looking at maps till 12 ¾ (very fine and sunny) and went out at 12 50 – to the lodge – the men (George Thomas and Sam Booth with the cart) emptying out the ash place – then to the site of the late Staups old barn to see the rubble left there by Mawson that I am to have – then along the new Northowram road to the end of my upper Weelroyde wood – saw somebody at the meer – thought it might be Mr. Harper – returned – back at 2 55 just as A- returned – soon afterwards came in to her, and with her till Mr. Harper came at 3 25 with him from then to 7 – shewed him Mr. Bulls’ report – B-‘s takes the velocity of the wheel at 5ft. per 2nd and H- has taken it at 4ft. per 2nd – besides B- does not take into calculation the spiggs water – these 2 circumstances would make great difference as to the water and .:. as to the size of the buckets H- would not like to be guided entirely by B-‘s report till he had examined it more narrowly face to face with B- himself – H- said B-‘s clow would be very expensive and agreed with me it would cost £100, and thought the present one would do very well – agreed that H- should write to B- and ask him to meet him (H-) at H-x on the 22nd instant on H-‘s way thro’ there and Bury to London – and agreed that B- should guage the brook and spiggs water after the storm or in August next, and I would leave the wheel in statu quo for the present – H- had made a little alteration in the staircase of Booths’ mill-plan, and thought all would be done exclusive of machinery for £817 – might be done for less – but H- would not like to say less till he saw the estimates – brought me plan of back Lodge – had thought the whole would be done for £60 – the wood work would not be more than £25 – supposed me to have the stones old wallstone on the spot – H- had been at Langton and examined the drying closet there – the Miss Norcliffes did not like it, and would not have one for themselves – the servants at L- said it burnt as much coal as 3 kitchen fires – several drying closets in York – did not know that answered – several of them not used – the one at Langton all lined with iron – Iron gates at the Lodge would warp more than wood and be in danger of breaking and be more expensive than wood, and not look the character of the place of the place so well – the housemaids lead pipe finished by Firth tho’ put up by the York man – the pipe evidently faulty -  the Eagle Insurance office, so rich, seem to decline all but Life Insurance – the concern pays two thousand pc. a twenty pounds share is worth £4000 (four thousand pounds) a painter in York is receiving his thousand a year from the concern – H- knows nothing of the Globe office but the Yorkshire and the Norwich should be avoided – the Yorkshire a very shabby concern – H-‘s own

house is insured in it - £1000 the house and £500 the furniture (for which pays 3 guineas a year) and they have told him that if his house was burnt down they might only give him £300! H- seems to have changed his mind a little about letting the Insurance company restore the building if burnt down – he seems now for taking the money – but the act of parliament defective – if Insurance for £4000 (for which should pay about £10 per annum) might not get above ½ that sum even if the whole of the premises were consumed – for 10 years hence it might be urged that the buildings tho’ worth that sum at this time might not be worth so much in future from difference in rate of wages, prices of materials etc. – the answer to this question put by H- to the agent for the Globe not satisfactory – a private house H- himself would not insure at all if he could help it (he is obliged by the corporation to insure his building leasehold under them house in York) – at 1st I thought he (H-) would not insure the hotel – then he said an hotel was different from a private house – there was much greater risk – and I understood him to mean that he would insure the Northgate hotel but that £4000 would be as much damage as any fire could do it – this sum to be apportioned in 4 different Insurances – I explained the matter of the boiler and Mr. Parker’s smiling after all and saying that I should perhaps paint the casino too – in spite of my annoyance and saying that I should set the boiler against the painting – H- did not wonder at my annoyance – wished P- had not interfered – the canvass bought when H-‘s letter to stop the painting was written, tho’ he wrote immediately on hearing from me – H- evidently sorry about the non-painting – proposed delaying it for 18 months – before which time the room would hardly be fit to point – H- has just managed the letting of an old house turned into a new Inn at Bradford where the tenant (on lease of seven years) hangs bells finds all fixtures ranges etc. etc. according to the custom of the country £7 only being deducted from the rent on this account – H- owned I had laid out on these matters £500 more than I ought to have done – yes! said I and this + the painting = £700 taken from the  £1200 I shall receive during the 5 years’ leave me but very little – H- said I must lay this on the rent at the expiration of the lease – Mr. and Mrs. Crossland in very good spirits – they would not mind the rent if they get the hotel well accustomed – I said I had told Mrs. C- at the 1st I should not think of a less advance than £200 per annum – H- said they were aware of this and would give it if things went on well – or would give more – Mr. Carr will take his coaches there in 3 months – well! I am glad to have the people in good spirits – they may be paid but I cannot at the present rent – it ought to be doubled at the 5 years end – H- to be here again tomorrow – gave him back with him the Northgate hotel account and Booths’ account and all B-‘s bills given in on the 2nd instant except the quarry accounts and the Hilltop account for Extras – told H- the colliery had already cost me (supposing the works in hand measured off) near £5000 – dressed – dinner at 7 20 A- poorly – read a little of the newspaper – tea – came upstairs at 9 20 – 20 minutes with A- then till 10 ¾ wrote all but the 1st 4 lines of the last p. – very fine day – F17° at 9 20 pm – A- did not see Mr. and Mrs. Fenton this morning – out – Mrs. Dyson had had a relapse –still confined to her room – A- met Mrs. George Robinson as she (A-) returned home and Mrs. G.R. would stop her to express how sorry that Cookson could not drink tea with her tomorrow Mrs. GR. being in her gig-cart and so drunk as to clip the queens’ English terribly! went down at 11 – strong smell of tobacco smoking in Edwards’ pantry
