Komorebi ( Written Preview )

Step in the world of Komorebi, with just a quick read

Introduction

“Komorebi” which means sunny day in the city, is a graphic written and created by Oh1phizo. The story takes place in the year 2078 Mel York City ( Originally New York ) after war has trampled the world. Echo and his group of friends Jacob, Rubi, Vinna and Daniel works for a secret organization called “MYSS” (Mel York Secret Service). Focused on cleaning up the streets of Mel York they fight Mutants, Cyborgs, Mystical creatures, Aliens and more. Learning the government is corrupt controlled by a mysterious faction of 10 groups they leave the service. now Echo and his friends will have learn how to survive their new life on the run while fighting for true peace in the new world.

The Beginning

Echo awakes to a beeping noise (6) Beeps.

it’s an alarm on his phone but not for waking up, its a message from Jacob, ( Echos friend )

A text message it reads

“Wake up bone head, we gotta job”

Echo replies

“You meat head you ruined my dream, it was these to hot chicks and never mind WHERE ? “

Jacob responds

“ New Brooklyn in Sector 8, 3 cyborg are out of control and have been vandalizing some store during the night. The police are saying it’s a system thing or malfunctioning. I think it’s something more, the job pays 4,000 VNotes, you in or not ?”

Echo replies

“Wth ( what the hell ) I’m in, you know I don’t go to section 8 without a good payment first”

Jacob scratches his head

“I’ll see if he can wire 2000 right now, but we have to make it there before noon so New rock and 55th in 20min”

Echo hangs up the phone and gets out of bed then walk towards the bathroom, grabbing the doorway he stretches following yawn, then scratches his head

He looks in the mirror with a zombie like expression, opens the bathroom cabinet and grabs a toothbrush, he then starts to brush his teeth.

When he’s the done, he throws on a white shirt ( rocket pizza shirt ) Purple Jeans with thick lining on the side and off Brand kicks.

Walks straight to door, grabs his keys and Mr Pepsta Cola drink for breakfast, Echo lives in a studio apartment. Bed, tv, kitchen all in one room, bathroom separate and this is the best he can afford with the job he has and the city he lives in

Exiting his apartment he walks down a long, narrow hole with four other doors, two on one side two on the other including his, down the end of the hall there’s steps leading to the exit, there is no lobby. He lives above the store once he exits the building to the right of him. There’s a pile of garbage an old lady going through it with a cat on top of the shopping cart right next to her. He takes a brief moment to look at the old lady as a car goes by the driver is honking their horn and stopping at a red light. He also looks at the car the red rundown car. then he takes a long look at the direction of the train and says to himself “let me get to it” He continues to walk up the block heading towards the train to take it to new rock and 55th. Where he will meet up with Jacob.

The City We live in

( Echo now narrates )

This shitty City, This Waste of time City I hate it here.. but where can I go, I live in Mel York City in the year 2078. Thirty years back New York, LA and few other major cities wear decimated in an all out World War, I don’t know probably five. After the war was done china and Russia cut their losses and gated their continent with huge energy walls not even a fly can get through. Africa was untouched but gained more than the other continents economically wise, flourishing I even heard there roads are made of gold now, America sunk in to a lawlessness government cesspool. All the South America, a battleground and all ofAntarctica, a battleground, These continents are now governed by ten factors, Malcolm, Hayes, Belmont, Bandović, Po Po, Wince, Stein, Vineland’s, Thortan, and Jones are the name of each factored family, The cities of America destroyed in the war were rebuilt and renamed By president Kennith L Baits, He means well but you can see he had no back bone letting the factions and those in power control him.

Mel York City is divided in eight sectors all connected via bridges. Being that New York is an island or once an island, a lot of it sank during the war there are nomore Burroughs because of that. Now there are eight small islands and without these bridges most citizens would have no way of leaving those islands. Each sector is based on your economic income after the war ethnicity was abolished so if you’re not rich, you’re not living in sector one. From Sector one to sector four the rich and thewealthy reside, sector five is somewhat middle class. Crime still happens, cyborgs run the street vandalizing and harming people, you still have your street gangs and your big gangs. Sector six is a small island so a lot goes on there. Very dangerous place, I would never take a job there, and if I did, it would have to pay good. sector seven is no better- most places in sector seven are run down, home burnt down and some are never finished even being built. It was said that sector six was going to be a new and peaceful ground for the low class citizens now it is one of the worst sectors. Sector eight is lawless, overrun by drugs, gangs and prostitutes you would have to be a well-known crime figure to live or survive in that sector. But me I live in Section 5 where queens use to be, transit is expensive, food is scarce the streets are freshly built so its quite most of the time, but with in my area there are still gangs and crime, and cyborgs from the war.

Side story for cyborgs

( During the last phases of the war, America fought against two opposing countries, and knew they were losing and decided to advertise C.E [Cybernetic Enhancements] to the public. Expanding one’s lifespan, Extraordinary Abilities and life time checks in the mail for the next 30 years being that you were expected to live for 100 years or more once the procedure was done, you will be sent off into war fighting for your country. America sent them to their graves, some untrained and freshly made so sadly many Malfunctions took its toll, many of the cyborgs found out that they were being controlled via secret microchip embedded within the back of their heads, and rebelled starting a civil war, hastening the loss for our main war. When the smoke had cleared the president at the time Robert L Mitchell sold some states to other countries to avoidin invasion. The cyborgs had their microchips, removed and were released back into the public but with no government to pay for the maintenance and living. The new President Robert L Mitchell had stripped away the funding of the lifetime checks, using that same funding to rebuild the roads, school and hospitals. So many of the cyborgs turned to crime, or homelessness. No one trusted the cyborgs because you see- Over seas they fought for their freedom but back home due to the civil war or many tragic stories the public viewed them as deadly, inhumane machines. So they chose to act as they were titled)

The Work

For work I Stop Cyborgs, hybrid Criminals, organized Crime, and capital I work for MYSS ( Mel York Secret Service ) Every city now has secondary secret law enforcement. meaning I’m only assigned jobs, I’m paid after, then I go home until next time. We don’t get to see who’s in charge, we don’t get identifications just covert messages of our mission sent to one of us at a time via a special phone sent to us, I don’t really get many job offers but Jacob’s does. It’s said that most operatives have never seen each other, squads can not be no bigger than a group of 5

I’m the Fill in My job is to be on standby at all times just in case one of the other 4 members of the team Dies, being said the Fill in has to lean all 4 of the titles. No one has died so for the most part I just sit back for missions even when I’m called in. I do sometimes step in if they are bigger foes on the Battlefield.

All of this and I’m only 21

The Parents

I don’t know my mom and I only saw my Dad twice so I don’t really know what he looks like he works for MYSS, I joined the Service hoping I’d see em and plus I needed a job so that I can live on my own, I’ve been living in this studio apartment my hole life my father would send checks in the mail. But on my 20th birthday the mail came and it wasn’t the usual 10,000 VNotes it was a letter from my dad it read

Dear Son,

Hello Echo My Boy, you have grown I’m sorry I cant see how much you’ve grown but I miss you and I want to let you know from here on today I will never be able to see you. My business has lead me to a very dark path the mission I’m on is more dangerous than any can fathom. My resources are low and my team is gone, I’m headed to another world you may not understand but your mom isn’t from our world and right now her power is what we need to save the world and stop what’s coming in 2080. Be safe my son when I find your mom I will come and find you next. I have faith in you always

Love Dad.

And with that letter I had alil understanding of my mom and dad, other world huh if he means the Forbidden Zone then maybe I won’t ever see em like he said

(Side Story for the Forbidden Zone)

( the forbidden zone is located were Canada use to be, it is filled with demonic looking creatures some with minds of the own and some more beast than human. It is said that in 2050 the Canadian government mutated its citizens hoping to bread a new form of hybrid human, this lead to Inhuman powers amongst them. Then UN came together and blocked the country off no one in and no one out via electric power wall )

If my father and mother are in the forbidden zone then I will definitely never see them again.

Not having family sometimes sucks but hey at least I have my crew

After his dad died on the job working for Sectors 1 Task Force when he was 15, he decided to get into law enforcement. Joining the MYSS as the youngest to be recruited at age 17- Jacob was given a leader role also making him the the youngest leader ever, on his first mission Him and his crew at the time saved sector 6 and 3 from being destroyed. Eric Hazier (Havoc) a Well Known War Veteran and also Cyborg had placed bombs on the bridges between sectors. Jacob and his crew stopped him with 8 hours. At 24 Jacob lost his Crew to a new threat Victor Press (VP) another Veteran Cyborg from the war. He was not captured the following years after Jacob put together a new crew for his MYSS team consisted of Echo Simmonds, Vinna Macroy, Rubi Rivera, Daniel Monty in hope of catching the Cyborg that killed his last team

At age 10 Vinna’s Family was massacred at a wedding by 3 Rouge Cyborgs and a hybrid human from the forbidden zone in front of her. Vinna and her lil brother Belvon Macroy was the only the survivors hiding under a mountain of bodies when the Task force found them, Vinna’s father was a billionaire owning a corporation called Environmentally Enhancement specializing in weaponizing plant life forms for war, he left the corporation to her in his will. Vinna studied most her childhood and teenage life to become CEO at 16, At age 17 Vinna’s lil brother Belvon underwent a secret Cybernetic enhancement surgery making him a cyborg. He left a letter telling her sorry. He did it to be as strong as the men that killed their family and hopes to find them to take revenge with that said, he ran away from home after years of searching Vinna has had no luck in her search at 23 she joins MYSS in hopes of finding her brother It has been 2 years since

When Rubi turn 13 her mom and dad Mary and Carlos R. Went to the forbidden zone to establish peace with the mutant creatures living there knowing that more wore intelligent than beast like. They worked for Civil Human and Humane Rights of MYC. The Governor of MYC at the time Tim Botez was trying to win his new election with being the first state establishing peace with the forbidden. Rubi’s parents lost communication with HQ after 72 hours of entering the forbidden zone. Leaving her to live with her grandparents, since then she has trained in Martial Arts, advanced education, economics and technical advancement. At 19 she travels to India to train in spiritual awareness hoping to contact her parents in the spirit world, surprisingly she learns from the spirits that her parents are not there and have not been there. Meaning that they’re alive and are still in the forbidden zone, at 20 she joins the MYSS in hopes of locating her parents.

Daniel Monty

Daniel was born before the Great War that lasted close to 30 years, at age 5 his life was turned upside side down- thats when it began. His home in what use to be Brooklyn was destroyed during the take over of NY luckily he would be in another state at the time with his mother visiting family, his father did not make it. Unable to leave where they visited Daniel would grow up in a gated community located in Boston avoiding crime and staying on a narrow path of justice. War would soon reach there as well at the age 12 a bio air chemical attack was launched on the east coast of America and more than 1.2 million people would die including his mom. At 17 he would join the war, for the next 8 years he would fight endlessly day in and day out against opposing countries. He would also win the civil war against the Cyborgs. After America fell he would then come home to raise a family. To continue providing and protecting his family he decides to join MYSS

Growing up Echo didn’t have much of a life, his father left him alone in an apartment after the age 5 with maps to school and to the store, while his father would be away on missions, Echo would study and train extremely hard to catch up to his father. Mastering all the he can and even undergoing Bio enhancement surgeries by the age of 12. Echo would then go to highschool at a young age, graduating at 16 and finishing college in 1 year. He would then work odd jobs around each sector getting to know everyone and everything around him. At 17 Echo meets his father for the first time since the age of 5 no words were spoken. His father would hand him a MYSS Application and leave. This did not affect Echo because deep down he didn’t care, but then at age 20 he joins MYSS following the letter he receives from his father in hopes of finding him for answers about his mother.

Mission One: ROUGE

Arriving to Sector 8 Echo Steps off the 9 train last stop it will be going north bound to Sector 7 when it’s back up and running, there is a crowd of people exiting the train with him. To the left of him, he sees a waving hand above the crowd. As it starts to clear he now can identify that it is Vinna- she’s wearing a light brown jacket, cropped black shirt, leather bel bottoms and black heel boots.

She leans forward with her hand on her hips and asks

“What took you so long, Christ a guy could’ve snatched me up”

Echo replies

“I’m sure he’d put you right back where he found you after 1 minutes of being with you”

While walking to the station exit

Vinna laughed and replies

“Well mister your no fun I hope your ready for today’s mission, Rubi’s coming”

Echo

“ and “ while screwing up his face

As they walk out, and walk towards the steps

Vinna

“ you like her admit it, it’s been months now you might as well make a move. Start loving each others in between missions and..”

Echo cuts her off

“Shut up”

As the walk down the steps to the hallway leading to outside they both see a homeless cyborg, hooded and sitting on the floor Echo drops 3 notes in his Cup, while Vinna looks at him with disgust they continue to walk.

Vinna taps Echo

“They’re Animals, they don’t deserve nothing but graves”

While walking outside of the train

Echo replies

“Life sucks, mines and theirs, but it doesn’t has to suck all the time”

Vinna shrugs her shoulders and looks at the sky

“Oh well, maybe in another world where none of this ever happened we all got along”

While walking and not paying attention, she walks right into Jacob‘s chest she bounces right off of him almost hitting the ground, just a little bit.

“Get along with who” he asked echo reaches out his fist, and Jacob extends his arm, reaching out of his fist as well they give each other a fist bump, it connects.

Across the street from the train station there’s a diner where Jacob, Echo and Vinna will to discuss the mission.

Jacob turns around and starts walking to the diner

“Prestige at Leslie‘s Diner, we’re gonna eat here and discuss the mission”

Echo starts walking as well

“Yeah I’m cool with” and Vinna saids “Great I’m hungry anyways”

As they walk into the diner it isn’t what echo and vinna expected, tables was uneven, cheers and booths were old and rugged looking there were a few other people sitting around, one old man, he’s a little built with a brown hat and jacket on, a couple that’s not really talkative, on their phones with coffee sitting in front of them, 3 men at the bar in the back of the diner, one waitress behind the counter and 2 chefs in the kitchen.

They sit in the booth with no window, next to the door leading to the kitchen no one is by them with a clear view of the door and the rest of the diner. The waitress walks over and says

“Welcome prestige Leslie‘s where your food treat with care, what can I get you”
