Tessa Virtue 34th Birthday Chart 5/17/23
Tumblr media
Tessa's birthday chart this year has change as a theme and the question of what comes next? how to move forward? it has a Balsamic moon, which can mean nearing the close of one chapter but having no structure yet for where you're going. 5-6 planets in fixed signs can mean changes can be viewed as if they're all or nothing and feel intimidating, but having faith rather than acting from fear or stubbornness will help you not feel stuck.
this chart is heavily earth and water and lacks fire and air: material issues, work/job are emphasized. you may be more sensitive emotionally and feel overwhelmed, but intuition is also heightened. a time of gaining experience and gathering info, working with your immediate needs rather than long term plans. you might feel inexperienced and sometimes low energy or enthusiasm. it can take trial and error and following your gut rather than your head to find your way
there's what's sometimes called a minor talent triangle between the Sun, Mars, and Neptune in this chart which looks positive:
Tumblr media
The combination of Sun and Mars in sextile gives you energy for accomplishment. you have the ability to be a team player, other people don't get in your way, and you find that the tools you need will be available to you. The Neptune piece of this can start out as confusion and uncertainty about your direction, making it necessary to move forward without knowing the details. but it also connects you to intuition and sensitivity which help you gain awareness. helping others brings good things to you. it adds up to being able to function productively even when you're unsure.
Mercury in the chart can be your thought process, and it's conjunct the North Node, emphasizing mental energy and communication - Mercury sextile Saturn - at least one major decision to be made. a tendency to be cautious or conservative because you're looking for options that will give you stability. this can be about planning, organizing. completing a major project (she still has a capstone project to finish on this masters degree this summer)
Venus is about relationships, finances, values - it's trine Saturn: possibly adding more structure to a relationship- could mean buying a home or marriage. she's going to have a similar aspect in 2024, though, so this applies next year too. without a birth time, it's hard to see which area of life this is about - it may or may not be either
Mars in a solar return (bday) chart can be about where and how you spend your energy. It's opposite Pluto: control issues. conflict or lack of balance between two areas of your life. or your needs and wants are in conflict with those of someone else. the unconscious motivations that drive you can be raised to awareness. habits and attitudes that hold you back might come up to be dealt with
Jupiter is conjunct the North Node: good sign for new opportunities and growth. It's also closely square Pluto: you're driven by wanting success. need to stay balanced ethically and find balance between your personal and professional lives or your relationships suffer. this energy can be success but at a price. it might show you where you need to modify your goals and to figure out your true values
The big transit of the year is Saturn in the sky transiting and squaring her Gemini stellium- Tr Saturn square her Mercury (May, July-Aug 2023, Jan-Feb 2024): your viewpoints may be challenged if they've become too fixed or out of date, feeling alone because others don't share your ideas Tr Saturn square her Venus (May-July 2023, Jan-Feb 2024): tension in relationships. your need to be yourself is greater. relationships that don't work with your true self might need to change or be left behind. loneliness. a time of clearing out - your sense of freedom and individuality might be tested by relationships Tr Saturn square Jupiter (Mar-Apr 2024)- you might feel like your freedom of action is limited or that you're not free to take opportunities you want. a time that tests how well you put your life together, especially in your profession. feeling extreme restlessness and a drive for freedom
And finally, she is in an 11th house profection year: good luck or advantageous things come to you from your networks or friends. a year of greater social interaction, of exploring your hopes and dreams

Scott Moir: Solar eclipse at 29° Aries 4/21/23
On April 21, there was a solar eclipse at 29° Aries. Solar eclipses are like a supercharged new moon - the sun and moon meet in the same degree and sign- and represent beginnings or new energy coming in. The effect of a new moon can last a month, but an eclipse resonates for about 6 months. This eclipse is at the very end of Aries and makes an out of sign square to Pluto. This brings up themes of power and conflict, and in Aries this relates to independence and personal courage. Ways you're not being true to yourself or where you need to stand up for yourself might come up.
The positive traits of Aries - being straightforward, brave, being real without apologies or hiding are good ways to deal with what comes up in the next 6 months, while negative traits of Aries - hotheadedness, impatience, intolerance, reacting and not taking time to look deeper - will cause you more struggle or pain.
Scott's Jupiter is exactly 29° Aries. And his Jupiter is the apex of his Thor's Hammer which involves his Venus and Saturn as well. Your chart is interconnected, so what affects his Jupiter affects the entire configuration - the entire Hammer was lit up by the eclipse:
Tumblr media
In a Thor's Hammer or any pattern in your chart, the planets are constantly talking to each other - they never stop. His Venus square Saturn makes you want relationship very much, but also can give the belief deep down that you're not worthy of what you truly want. So self esteem needs to be worked on. It can also make it difficult for you to express yourself. Saturn can delay things, so you have to learn certain lessons before you can reap rewards. Thor's Hammers require a ton of trial and error - you have to keep trying and trying and trying. But they also give you the drive to do so. So you see this with Scott in work - Jupiter being the top of the pattern and connecting to Saturn gives him unbelievable drive in his work. Years of working relentlessly to become better at skating paid off
This also gives him a drive to be in a relationship, but IF he's not in a good place with his self esteem, he won't necessarily find the fulfillment he wants in one. So what this eclipse is bringing by highlighting all this Aries energy is a nudge towards a greater sense of self worth, showing up for himself and not putting others or belonging first at his own expense. Putting your own oxygen mask on before helping others, as they say on airplanes. A solar eclipse literally blocks some of the light of the sun, so this process regarding himself is likely to be internal and not necessarily visible to the outside. But the Jupiter-Saturn part relating to work could show up in more independence or putting energy into something new in that arena

Tessa Virtue: 33rd birthday 5/17/22
Tumblr media
Tessa turns 33 today, May 17, 2022. The chart for today gives a snapshot of the year ahead for her. Without a birth time, we're missing crucial info, but here's what we can see:
Her birthday is a day after a lunar eclipse: a year of balancing different needs- your emotional needs and external goals may not agree. past issues coming up to be processed
Mercury in the chart is retrograde for the year: going inward, integrating the info you've been gathering to give you a new outlook. valuing the inner authentic qualities of relationships more than external or superficial ones. taking care of unfinished business. can also mean staying quiet about your opinions to keep the peace, but then opening up closer to next year
This chart has several Sun aspects, which can be about identity and how you direct your life-- Sun square Saturn: a need to change values or goals. limitations or restrictions which require persistence and being realistic. Sun trine Pluto: a slow process of empowerment, developing awareness that helps you change your life. And Sun conjunct North Node: people coming into your life who help your personal growth. teamwork and meaningful connections are themes. feeling purposeful this year
Having contrasting energies in a chart isn't unusual and this chart has Mars conjunct Neptune, which can mean uncertainty and confusion about direction or feeling aimless. working from a place of creative inspiration and intuition can allow you still to be very productive. But Mars and Neptune also sextile the Sun: higher energy for setting goals and conditions being favorable for success. a healthy sense of competition and working well with others. also feeling more sensitive and generous.
And Mercury sextile Jupiter: broader point of view, feeling optimistic, like anything is possible.
This is a 10th house profection year, associated with career and public image. These come around in 12 year cycles, so the last time she had a 10th house year was May 2010-May 2011, right after the Vancouver Olympics- she had new opportunities opening up, she started working with brands. This year she's graduating from her EMBA in June and starting a new post-degree chapter with work. 2010 was also the year of her 2nd surgery, so she was dealing with leg problems and couldn't compete for most of that year. Going back one more 12-year cycle, May 1998-May 1999 was also a 10th house year, and that was her 2nd season skating with Scott, they started going to Kitchener to train, it was the first summer she went to the National Ballet School, and their 1st win at a formal competition in January 1999. That year, their season was also paused by an injury, but Scott's- he broke his arm playing flag football in the fall. So there's a theme of new starts and opportunities and needing to take pauses for injury. Hopefully only the new opportunities part carries over to this year.
In addition she has these transits to her birth chart: Saturn square Sun: (now-early July; Jan-Feb 2023) challenges which require patience or perseverance. a time when it becomes clearer what endeavors and relationships are worth continuing
Pluto trine Sun: (July 2022-Jan 2023) meaningful and powerful personal growth, a sense of having survived heavy challenges and reached a new level. a good time for taking steps towards personal advancement. may become aware of issues and needs which have been unconscious until now
And several Jupiter transits, all squaring her Cancer/Capricorn planets-- Three passes of Jupiter square Uranus: (June, September, and Jan 2023) can be sudden opportunities, or feeling restless and impatient with restrictions, wanting to break free
Then in Feb-Mar 2023, Jupiter T-squares her Mars/Neptune/Saturn: a nudge to make adjustments based on what's working and not, feeling tense, restless or uncertain, possibly separating from things, jobs or relationships which aren't working out. a reality check as you strive to make your dreams a reality but also an energy boost that helps you assert yourself

Scott Moir: astro bits
Tumblr media
He has Mercury square Uranus, and the more I learn about this, the more ways it seems to describe him-
Mercury is how you think and communicate, Uranus is change, freedom, individuality-- when you have these squared, you're smart and quirky and need space to be your unique self. you might be impatient because the pace of your mind is really fast. it might be hard to sit still, or you might get bored or frustrated waiting on slower people or doing things you're not into. So probably sitting still in school wasn't the easiest, or maybe days of meetings at a coaching conference, either.
This aspect on its own makes you not attach to people, and you don't need them to get attached to you, so it allows you to have lots of different kinds of connections to all kinds of people. In his case, he has other places in his chart that are warm and about connection, as well as codependency and insecurity, but when he's in a good place, he's able to move lightly and easily in the moment among a lot of people.
The way he's been known to blurt things unintentionally, or to run at the mouth in ways that may not be fact - that can be connected to this. Because your thoughts are moving so fast, your mouth can spill things that haven't been considered-- where afterwards you might (or might not) realize it technically wasn't true. for most people I know who have this aspect, it's more that things come out in a way they didn't mean than it is about not being truthful, but it can also make you gloss things over and misdirect rather than be too revealing or vulnerable. There can be a tendency to just move along to the next thing rather than reflect, unless you have other more thoughtful or grounded elements in your chart.
On another note, he has a Sun-Mars conjunction in his chart - this is high energy, physically courageous, assertive, independent. Plus emphasizes the ego. But I didn't know this relates to dance - I guess it makes sense that Sun (self expression) conjunct Mars (physical action) could be dancing. Definitely can also be things like fighting or combat, but in his case, his Sun and Mars are trine Neptune, which softens this and brings in a sensitive, artistic and creative component-- so yeah, he wants to move, and it expresses very naturally through dance. It's so natural that he might have taken it for granted til he's not doing it any more on a regular basis. Choreo might be the organic extension of this for him, but chances are he misses dancing.

Scott Moir: astro bits 2
Tumblr media
One aspect that stands out in Scott's chart as painful is Venus square Saturn. No aspect stands alone in a chart - this one is the crux of a bigger pattern that seems to involve his sense of self worth and how he does relationships. Venus is relating, pleasure, what you value, how you want to be loved. Saturn is limitations, responsibility, delays, structure, what you build over time. With these squared to each other in your chart there can be difficulty getting the love you want until you learn to value yourself. Can't tell exactly where he is with this, and not everyone who has this will have wounding around it, but the way this is set up in his chart, it's complex enough that it might take time and work to solve.
You have less confidence in showing your feelings or being able to let go and really love without reserve. You might have to learn to believe that you can receive true love-- otherwise you might choose conditional relationships or frustrate the paths that allow you to have the security of a healthy relationship.
With Venus square Saturn, there may be a tendency to focus on the worst possible outcome and that can cause you to act in a way that makes that worst outcome happen. You can really get in your own way.
You may not be confident that you can be loved for who you are or your true self, so you can reject true love without realizing that's what you're doing. It happens through the choices you make- by choosing less consequential options which feel safer. You may not feel lovable or special, and that leads you to believe you can't have something significant. You might choose people who don't support you or give you what you need emotionally.
You have to allow happiness in and also need to be honest and vulnerable and admit what you want in order to get that. You have to value who you are so you can set yourself up to attract people who really see you. Otherwise, you get into relationships where you don't necessarily feel good about the other person. You may settle.
With the square you can be non-discriminating- "I'll take what I can get because I'm not worth much," or you overdiscriminate and don't let anyone near you for self-protection.
In Scott's chart, Venus and Saturn are in a Thor's Hammer with Jupiter. Aspects to Jupiter are more optimistic - like seeing the possibility of it going right. But hard aspects to Saturn (and Pluto) will tend to make you see everything that could go wrong. You need a mix of both- confidence and prudence - to have balance. So he has both optimism and pessimism - but the way the pattern is set up, there's more fear and self worth issues around relationships, more confidence built up regarding work - skating and potentially now coaching. His Jupiter can be a help in working out whatever Venus-Saturn issues he may have.
Tumblr media
His Jupiter is at 29 Aries, the last degree of that courageous and action oriented sign- there's a need to take risks here- he definitely did that his entire skating career, but it also means he needs to use more Aries qualities in relationships: be brave and speak his truth, be impatient with situations which don't feel aligned with who he is, and to trust his intuition and take action on his own behalf.

Tessa and Scott commentating for the CBC 2/12/22
Tumblr media
The chart for the Rhythm Dance event, but set for Toronto where Tessa and Scott are in studio to commentate, has Capricorn rising, Sun in Aquarius in the 1st house, with Cancer moon in the 6th house. This is an event chart, so general energies, not specific to them except where the transits hit their birth charts.
Tumblr media
What jumps out right away is that Mercury is conjunct Pluto in Capricorn right on the ascendant: that's the planet of communication being given depth and intensity in hard working, ambitious Capricorn. this favors insight, analysis and deeper investigation. These two planets are meeting for the 3rd and last time since late December, so something about communication is peaking and finding some kind of resolution. Pluto rules unconscious things, so thoughts buried or things left unsaid potentially being stirred up. A vibe of empowering communication, which fits the scale and ideals of Olympic sport.
Venus and Mars are also conjunct in the 12th house: feminine/masculine, yin/yang energy meeting together, so favors relating and connecting. In the 12th house, there's an energy of selflessness, a need to put aside ego for the best outcome. Venus/Mars are trine Uranus in the 3rd house: the 3rd is the house of communication, so a flowing connection to live wire Uranus there favors flexibility of thought, fast tempo, and new ways of relating.
The Moon is in Cancer in the 6th house: the Moon is particularly emotional in Cancer, but in the house of work, feelings might come second to immediate necessity, the work of the day
The Midheaven is the highest point in the chart and the public face- this chart has it in Scorpio, so intensity and deep emotion - maybe fitting for an event where there's a lot on the line for the skaters, but also for a meaningful work reunion.
Neptune in this chart is trine the Midheaven: a personal sense of mission, service in public work, seeing the bigger picture with a sense of idealism. And the Sun is square to the Midheaven: tension around hard work and heightened activity with a determination to meet your goals.
Personal transits:
The North Node is conjunct Tessa's Sun: a sense of shifting identity, moving forward towards untried things, excitement as well as apprehension. new paths of development.
And that Venus/Mars conjunction in the sky is conjunct Tessa's Saturn and Neptune in one corner of the yod which always represented her partnership with Scott
The Descendant of a chart is about the partner, it's the cusp of the 7th house of partnership. And this chart has it at 24 Cancer, conjunct the Venus in VM's composite relationship chart.

Tessa and Scott commentating for the CBC Olympic free dance 2/13/22
Tumblr media
The chart for the Olympic free dance event, set for Toronto where Tessa and Scott were commentating, has Virgo rising and a Gemini Midheaven, with Aquarius Sun and Cancer Moon. This is an event chart, for general energies, and only specific to them in how it interacts with their individual charts.
There is a Grand Sextile, a 6 pointed star, in this chart, which is fairly rare. The chart for the last RTR show, though, had one.
Tumblr media
This pattern has two interlocking grand trines, one in water and one in earth (the RTR one was fire and air), and is balanced and harmonious by nature.
The Grand Earth Trine has the North Node conjunct Tessa's Sun, the Ascendant conjunct Scott's Mercury, and Mercury conjunct Pluto: there's something here about intense communication, her identity and life direction, with his perspective and thoughts being significant.
The Grand Water Trine has Moon conjunct their composite Venus, Neptune conjunct the Descendant, and the South Node: themes of emotion, partnership with compassion (or confusion) and release of drama or negativity from the past.
The way these two grand trines interlock to make a Grand Sextile, every placement has its release or balance in a placement that sits opposite. So the Moon and their composite Venus in Cancer are opposite Mercury/Pluto in Capricorn (emotional sense of home and the capacity to express themselves in the relationship balanced by intense analytic or deep communication at work). Then her Sun/North Node in Taurus opposite the South Node in Scorpio (a new sense of direction in her life path and sense of identity and things which are buried coming up to be examined and maybe released). And his Mercury conjunct the Ascendant in Virgo opposite Neptune and Descendant in Pisces (the Ascendant gives the POV of a chart, sets up the houses, so having his Mercury rising here, there's something about his perspective that's crucial. And that's opposite the Descendant which is the cusp of the 7th house of partnerships and Neptune, planet of dissolving boundaries, of confusion but also sensitivity and compassion) It's hard to say how or whether this is affecting them, it may not even be felt. But the themes were baked into the event.
Tumblr media
The Sun, Moon, and Rising of this chart make a yod shape: it's not a textbook yod because the Rising isn't a planet, it's a point. But Tessa having a near perfect yod in her chart and it representing her partnership with Scott for many years makes it notable that 3 of the most significant things in this chart make that pattern too.
Venus conjunct Mars: feminine/masculine energies meeting in the 4th house of home, roots, family.
The Midheaven of this chart is in Gemini and conjunct Lilith: the Midheaven is about the public face and image. In Gemini, another indicator in this chart about communication and information. Lilith is where we stand up, speak out, and there can be an element of anger, and there's an association to the feminine. Gemini is a youthful sign. I'm curious if the Lilith element is about the doping scandal. The Midheaven and Lilith square the Ascendant and Scott's Mercury in this chart, and he was the one who spoke out most strongly against it.

Tessa Virtue: Full Moon 2/27/21 and transits
Tumblr media
The full moon at 8° Virgo on February 27th was square to Tessa's Venus and Mercury in Gemini. This relates back to the lunar eclipse back on November 30, 2020 at 8° Gemini which was conjunct her Venus and Mercury. So this full moon feels like a sort of check in about the issues of the eclipse cycle, which lasts until May. Full moon energies generally last around 2 weeks, until the next new moon.
The eclipse on her Venus and Mercury would potentially bring to awareness ways she keeps the peace at her own expense, tensions in relationships if there were any. It could bring in new business associations and have her take a look at how she's relating and communicating, including on social media. So this full moon might nudge her to take a look at what is working and what isn't, what's been evolving since the end of November.
Tumblr media
Full moon square her Venus: might feel more need for affection and company and make you feel more sentimental. harder to feel motivated for work or tasks which are difficult or which don't inspire you. boosts creativity.
Full moon square her Mercury: tension between your thoughts and feelings might make you moodier than usual. but can be a good time for talking things out with someone sympathetic.
Transit Sun square her Venus: might make you aware of imbalances in relationships. but at the same time bring out a desire to have harmony, so can be a conflict between what you realize and what you want. otherwise a pleasant influence that can make you feel more affectionate
Transit Sun square her Mercury: on the one hand, a mentally stimulating transit- you may be full of ideas, but on the other hand, a tendency to overthink or worry. what you're trying to communicate may not be coming across as clearly as you would like.
In addition transit Mars was conjunct her Sun at the full moon, so this energy is present for the next couple weeks: a high powered influence, which gives you more self assurance and more physical energy. an urge to get what you want, a more competitive energy.
As well as transit Pluto trine her Sun which is a longer influence. Transits to the Sun can't be pinpointed with exactness without a birth time, but she definitely has this at least from March to June-- feeling of having made it through some difficult times, a period that allows personal growth and change without upheavals. coming into greater personal power helps your confidence. support from influential people. This transit will be back again end of this year into early 2022, and there will be an eclipse right on her Sun in November, so a lot of good energy for positive change this year.

Scott Moir: Lunar Eclipse in Gemini 11/30/20
Tumblr media
The Lunar Eclipse on Nov. 30 was square to Scott’s Sun and Mars. Lunar eclipses shine a light on what’s unconscious or hidden. In the areas of your life they impact, they can move things faster. This impact plays out over the next 6 months. This eclipse made a hard aspect to both his Sun and Mars- so it brings out themes around his identity and will, his ego and his drive. So who is he now, what does he want?
The Sun and Mars are conjunct in Virgo in Scott’s chart. Sun and Mars together in a birth chart are very assertive, impulsive and strong willed, but expressed through Virgo, it’s a more introverted, methodical energy which wants to be useful. So a forceful, decisive personality full of energy, but particular about your routines and how you go about things. Thoughtful and wanting to do things for the people you care about.
It’s just if ego, high energy, or impulsiveness are driving you, you might push for what you want without consideration for others or the consequences. The intensity with which you want what you want can be great for achieving but not easy on relationships, You may feel like you shouldn’t have to compromise and may expect everyone to fall in line with your plans. Strongly opinionated but a tendency to react to criticism with defensiveness, hurt and anger.
So the eclipse squared this energy in his chart and will shine a light on these elements of his personality. Squares have an element of tension or challenge to them, so in the period until the end of May 2021, there may be pressure on him either internally or from external events or people.
Tumblr media
When eclipses aspect your natal Sun, there’s a spotlight on your self, and you may be pressed to overcome obstacles or have a realization to help you figure out your identity or your path. Eclipses can speed the process of growth professionally or personally. It's a time for you to take action for yourself.
Mars is how you go after what you want-  your drives and assertiveness. So when your Mars is triggered and challenged by an eclipse, there can be a feeling that you have to fight for what’s yours, or for what you want. It can come with feelings of frustration. There may be outbursts of raw energy that can come out in anger. But this energy can also be a way that you’re provoked to make changes that wouldn’t happen otherwise.
This eclipse happened nearly on the same degree as an eclipse in November 2012 which impacted his chart in a similar way, at least regarding his Sun and Mars, so it will be interesting to see if there are any noticeable parallels in how they play out.

Tessa Virtue 5/17/1989 Jupiter
Tumblr media
Tessa’s Jupiter in Gemini makes three inconjunct aspects (also called quincunxes- 150° aspects) which are all part of her yod. Inconjuncts are in signs which don’t naturally understand each other, so it’s an aspect that teaches you how to live with and balance incompatible things in life. It requires adjustment and a lot of trial and error. And being in a yod, they’re always active.
Tumblr media
Jupiter inconjunct Saturn: Respect and acknowledgement didn’t come easily when she was younger. She really had to pay her dues, diligently working her way up. A tendency to swing between wild optimism and heavy pessimism until she learned to strike a balance between being hopeful but realistic. She easily overextends herself, and others may have taken advantage, so learning to see what her true obligations are would be key to success. She has the ability to become expert in her chosen field, and she has natural business and administrative ability. Knowing her own worth is crucial.
Jupiter inconjunct Neptune: may unconsciously act out a belief that her time and effort are less important than others’s. Instead of listening to her own judgment and sense of what’s right, can give this power to others to tell her when she is good and when she’s not. Can put herself in situations where she depends too much on Jupiter figures (coaches, judges, boyfriends, mentors) who expect too much, take too much, or put too much on her. May have a naive disbelief that anyone would take advantage of her. Needs to learn to assert her own boundaries. Until then, can tend to attract and listen to bad advice. Once she starts to value her own judgment, she won’t be burdened by others with tasks which aren’t her responsibility, and she won’t put up with people being rude or dismissive of her. She then will be in a place to find true abundance in her life.
So these two aspects above are modified by her Saturn and Neptune being conjunct- they influence each other:
Saturn conjunct Neptune would give her a healthy dose of reality and protect her somewhat from succumbing to illusions or deception. She’s a practical idealist. Learning self-confidence and self-belief is critical to avoiding the fear and disappointment associated with this aspect. Honesty and self-respect are crucial in reaching her potential. May be mistreated by others if her self-esteem is low. Ailments that develop may be difficult to diagnose and therefore difficult to treat. In relationships doesn't offer herself casually to anyone, friend or lover, but is willing to make enormous contributions to a connection with substance. Has the ability to make her dreams which survive the test of reality come true.
Jupiter inconjunct Pluto: Jupiter is about your beliefs, your vision for your life, morality, abundance, happiness. Pluto is power, the real motives that drive us to do and want, buried things, pain and hurt, control. This aspect can make someone dogmatic about what they believe without realizing it. Over the course of their life, they tend to move far away from the beliefs they were brought up in, but will doggedly hold onto whatever they believe at the time. Often their beliefs or perspectives are shaped by undealt with pain. They need to delve down for self-discovery, or these issues will keep coming up and demand attention. Can have strong prejudices based on fears coming from preconceived notions. They can have a blind spot thinking they are progressive but hold so stubbornly to their beliefs that they can be closed-minded in some ways. May try to control situations at times with guilt and test people’s loyalty. May be quick to sever ties if their beliefs are challenged. Ultimately when you use this aspect well, you seek truth at a deep level- getting beyond control and entrenchment to let go of fear. To understand their connection to everything and feel that happiness comes from wholeness.

Tessa Virtue 5/17/1989 Mercury
Tumblr media
Tessa has Mercury, the fastest moving planet, in Gemini, one of its home signs. Gemini is quick- quick witted, fast moving, lightning reflexes. And Mercury is about communication and mental processes, your perceptions and daily habits.
Tessa’s Mercury is quincunx her Uranus in Capricorn: this aspect takes some working out but it means she’s really bright. Uranus is electric, changeable, ahead of the curve, independent. It means her mind tends to go very fast and that she can be restless and anxious. She wants always to be on the move, fitting more into a day than most people do in two. Chronic overstimulation and overwork can be an issue. So more than most people, learning to slow down and connect to herself in stillness and quiet is crucial. Otherwise, she can get very high-strung and exhaust herself.
When she was younger, anxiety combining with her thoughts and speech going too fast might have made it hard for her to communicate and feel understood by people, which would make her more anxious. But learning to slow down and gradually becoming more comfortable would allow her to use the positive sides of this aspect.
Mercury in Gemini is good at promotion and marketing, and Uranus being about bigger picture and wider society means she has the ability to be a good spokesperson or to deliver a message to the public. People with this aspect typically have lots of social contacts among many different kinds of people and a big social profile and reach.
Tessa also has Mercury conjunct Venus in Gemini: Venus is about relating to others, beauty, art, creativity, your tastes and what you value. So this conjunction with Mercury makes her charming, gives her natural artistic talent and the need to express herself creatively. Any problem or idea posed is imagined easily and immediately, and especially in Gemini there’s a skill at mimicking- Tessa’s ability to pick up choreography quickly relates here. Relationships of any kind begin for her with communication- conversation sparks connection.
Mercury rules trade and Venus rules money, so she’s naturally inclined towards business. She’s diplomatic, and her refined, gentle nature coaxes people towards compromise or inclines them to want to work with her. Public speaking and writing may be areas of talent to be developed.

Tessa’s Venus makes a conjunction to her Jupiter in Gemini: these are two planets which are generally positive in your chart, so the two together can be a beautiful gift. Jupiter expands what it touches, and Venus is beauty, love, the ability to relate to others, money. Tessa is generous, kind, and sympathetic. She can go to extremes expressing these qualities, and if there’s any downside, it’s that she can be this way towards people who don’t deserve it or who might try to take advantage of her kind nature. But her warmth and friendliness attract people to her, and she seeks and is sought after by people who are also self-assured and expect to succeed. She has a good sense of humor and is optimistic, finding hope in even the hardest of times. Achieving goals makes her glow with happiness. Difficult contacts to Saturn (which she has) would have made finding happiness more difficult when she was younger, but this conjunction will win out the more she comes into her own.
This combination is also about creativity: Jupiter represents classical arts and music, Venus is music and art of today- with these planets together, her tastes are old and new, and she’s able to and needs to combine both in expressing herself. In Gemini, an air sign, creativity can be most exciting when coming up with and exchanging ideas. With Jupiter, “more” can be a key word- so she thinks big. It’s no accident that “limitless” is a mantra for her.
In relationships, people with this conjunction shower you with love- they’re very openhearted and giving. They have a greater need than average to grow through their love relationships because Jupiter is about spiritual knowledge. One caveat, Venus is related to comfort, and when things go wrong in a relationship, people with this conjunction may be totally at a loss and not know what to do. And with Venus in an air sign like Gemini, that might mean needing a lot of space to figure it out.
Venus also represents material comfort, luxuries and physical enjoyments, and Jupiter is good fortune, so people with this conjunction are often fortunate in the outward aspects of life. But this needs to be balanced with the more spiritual side of Jupiter: connecting to inner joy by finding real meaning in your life. Tessa’s chart is balanced out in that her Saturn is very strong and tends to give her perspective and make her work for her good luck, so the self-indulgent and potentially shallow side of Venus conjunct Jupiter probably expresses itself very rarely.
Tessa’s Venus conjuncts Mercury on one side and Jupiter on the other, all in Gemini. Mercury and Jupiter are a little far apart to strongly influence each other, but they both blend with her Venus. The 3 planets together give a lot of  creative potential- the ability to gather information and turn it into something creative to express to the world. She wants to learn from the people she connects with. And while she’s very socially capable of engaging with all kinds of people, she’s most excited by people who bring her new knowledge and experiences. Pursuits which are spiritually and artistically gratifying, paying it forward, creating something long lasting- these would be most fulfilling for someone with this conjunction.

Coach Scott
Tumblr media
Scott has many indications in his chart that he’s talented in and suited to coaching. He has a lot of Virgo and Sagittarius, two signs which have complementary traits for teaching. Sagittarius is about higher learning, and his Saturn in this sign means he’s built up a depth of knowledge to share and strong views about what he values in skating. Sagittarius might be more about the big picture, but he also has 4 planets in Virgo, a sign that is detail oriented, analytical and critical. His Mercury in Virgo squares Uranus in Sagittarius, which among other things can make his thinking original or out of the box, so innovative approaches or solutions are possible.
Tumblr media
Chiron in your chart is an area of sensitivity where you might be wounded but also shows how you might teach or heal others. Scott’s Chiron is in Gemini where the teaching gifts are about play-based learning, using humor to connect, valuing inclusivity and being able to put people at ease.
Scott has Sun conjunct Venus in his chart, which makes him charismatic. He also has Sun conjunct Mars which gives him leadership qualities. Sun trine Neptune makes him musical and creative, as well as sensitive. Mentoring and advising are Jupiter themes, and Scott’s Jupiter in Aries is prominent in his chart. This optimistic, energized placement gives him the ability to inspire and motivate others. Jupiter is about thinking big and about generosity- most likely in the long run, if he chooses to do this for a career, he wouldn’t be content to do this on a small scale.

VM and Eric Radford (and Chiddy) Part 1
Tumblr media
Scott’s connection to Eric is complex. They’re very different people, and their connection has potential for both understanding and conflict. They have Mercury trine Mercury for easy, friendly communication, and Scott’s Mercury trines Eric’s Jupiter, which gives an optimistic and affectionate feeling to their interactions. But their Suns are inconjunct, meaning their sense of identity and self-expression have little common ground. Eric’s Sun squares Scott’s Pluto which can bring intensity and conflict but also mean that they can impact each other in a way that changes them.
Tumblr media
They make a T-square involving Eric’s Venus/Mars conjunction opposite Scott’s Mercury, with Scott’s Uranus squaring all 3. They may not always see things the same way, and can potentially irritate but also give each other perspective. Usually the squared planet in a T-square provides a release for the tension in the opposed planets, but here the Uranus squares are potentially more difficult than the opposition, lending an unpredictable and maybe aggravating energy to their dynamic. But it’s also possible that Scott’s spontaneity and sense of humor can defuse the tension.
Tumblr media
Scott and Eric also make a yod between them with Scott’s Chiron at the apex and Eric’s Jupiter and Saturn making the other two sides. There’s a difference in beliefs and outlook and a tendency maybe for Scott to see Eric as critical or serious. Nevertheless, having these patterns between them gives a feeling of connection, and a repeated theme is that they can learn from each other.
Tumblr media
Eric and Patrick have a deep and probably karmic connection with many placements conjunct their Nodes. Eric’s Jupiter conjunct Patrick’s North Node means warm emotional generosity and support- they have a real feeling that they’re there for each other and an optimistic sense of life’s possibilities. Eric’s Mercury conjunct Patrick’s North Node: they learn from each other and have a strong mental rapport.  Patrick’s Mars conjunct Eric’s North Node means Patrick has a strong impact on Eric and encourages him along his path. Creative projects are given extra energy between them. Patrick’s Pluto on Eric’s South Node adds intensity and a sense of familiarity to their friendship.
Eric’s Sun opposite Patrick’s Jupiter: they have very different philosophies of life and can learn a lot from the other if they share their experiences. Eric’s Venus/Mars conjunction sextiles Patrick’s Venus and Mars. This set of mutual aspects is really beautiful in that how they go about getting what they want in life, what they appreciate, how they feel cared for all are in harmony, so they have tremendous kinship and feel warmly affirmed by each other.
Patrick’s Venus and Saturn are conjunct: a difficult placement when you’re young, making you feel shy and isolated and lonely. Eric’s Mercury and Jupiter conjunct Patrick’s Venus/Saturn: Eric’s planet of communication plus generous, positive Jupiter here would lift Patrick up with optimistic, lively conversation, further cementing their friendship.

Eric Radford 1/27/85 and Mercury retrograde 7/7-7/31
Tumblr media
In honor of his wedding on the 11th in Spain to Luis Fenero which will be attended by many skaters:
Eric is an Aquarius with Aries moon: he’s a smart and fast thinker who combines originality with independence and can be a bit aloof and detached. Sun square Pluto gives him powerful drive, an intense and determined personality. There can be a need with this aspect to have to hide behind a mask, which he wrote in his book felt necessary growing up gay in a small town. As someone with this placement matures, they learn through hardships to stand in their truth and can have real depth of character.
Tumblr media
Eric has a close Mars Venus conjunction in Pisces which both sextile Jupiter. Mars and Venus together in Pisces makes him driven to lose himself in art, whether it’s composing or skating. He’s someone who gets things done. Mars sextile Jupiter is a lucky aspect as it gives good timing and instincts for when to take risks. Venus sextile Jupiter gives musical gifts and makes him generous. He has Saturn conjunct his South Node making him responsible and persevering but with a tendency to do things the hard way. He has a yod with Neptune and Pluto with Chiron at the apex: this can mean being in his own world as part of his creativity and a yearning to look for deeper meaning in his life.
Tumblr media
This month there is so much going on astrologically- Mercury just went retrograde on Sunday, July 7, and that means there may be disruptions or delays in communication, travel, technology. But this Mercury retrograde is more intense than usual because Mercury and Mars are conjunct in Leo when it begins and square to Uranus in Taurus. So that means sharp tongues, short tempers, rebelliousness, sudden and unexpected disruptions, and conflict. The Mars-Uranus square becomes exact on the 11th, the day of Eric’s wedding.
Tumblr media
Hopefully the happy occasion will override the volatile nature of the transits that day, but Eric himself in his chart has Sun in Aquarius squaring his Pluto in Scorpio, and these two placements combine with the transit Mars-Uranus square to make a Fixed Grand Cross, meaning all the placements are in stubborn fixed signs and square each other. It contains a lot of tension and stress which requires balancing. Transit Uranus square his Sun can bring unexpected events that test his sense of whether he’s on the right path or not. Transit Mars opposite his Sun can mean conflict with others or irritability but also could be the positive culmination of something important. Transit Mars square his Pluto can be a time of creative transformation but it can also bring conflicts.

VM and Eric Radford part 2
Tumblr media
Eric and Tessa have a strong connection. Eric’s Sun in Aquarius trines Tessa’s Gemini planets: His Sun trine her Venus is a very affectionate bond full of ease and mutual support through good times and bad. Their Suns trine the other’s Mercury which gives them a natural feeling of understanding and acceptance. And their Suns trine the other’s Jupiter meaning they encourage each other in their adventures and have a strong feeling of good will between them. The aspects that go both ways give them a feeling that they just get each other. Eric’s Saturn is opposite Tessa’s Sun and this could bring a certain heavy energy to their relationship at times and a tendency for him to look out for her and also to give advice.
Her Sun sextile his Venus/Mars conjunction: being around each other increases their confidence and enthusiasm, they can relax in each other’s company and be themselves. Can be a devoted friendship. His Chiron conjunct her Venus and Mercury- Chiron Venus: a connection where they can recognize each other’s sensitivity and are called to be kind. Chiron Mercury: can learn from each other.
And Tessa’s Sun is conjunct Eric’s North Node in Taurus: She embodies many of the qualities he will be most fulfilled growing towards, so she inspires him just by being who she is. North Node in Taurus is about growing away from drama towards peace and stability and Venus qualities of sweetness and comfort in life. There’s an unspoken promise of growth for both of them and a feeling that they can help each other evolve.
