YET  ANOTHER  RESTLESS    night  beneath  the  stars,  but  they  did  not  shine  the  same.  nothing  beautiful  was  illuminated  by  the  pale  glow;   nothing  to  admire.  delicate  fingers  trace  the  raised  wounds  across  her  wrists,  trailing  up  towards  her  elbow.  the  pain  could  be  felt  by  merely  stealing  a  glance.  no  pattern  to  them,  simply  torturous  lines  criss-crossing  mutilation.  even  as  her  touch  was  replaced  by  one  familiar,  she felt  nothing  gazing  ‘pon  them.

she  allows  him  this,  all  but  for  a  moment  before  cradling  her  arm  to  her  chest.  it  had  been  her  secret,  one  only  the  trees  knew  of,  and  only  now  did  humiliation  wash  over  her.  a  foolish,  weak  human  she  thinks.  once  again  she  found  herself  itching  for  the  blade.
