Cape Town- Kirstenbosch

If the weather is nice and you need a chill sort of day outside of the city- Kirstenbosch Gardens is perfect.

Alex’s brother, John, actually lives incredibly close to Kirstenbosch so we used our half-day when we landed to have a wander.

Kirsetnbosch is a huge natural garden. It’s full of indigenous plants,

 trees and birds. 

I learned about the Sunbird which is similar to the american humming bird but a bit bigger and stays still for just a bit longer

It also boasts a restaurant and café if you feel hungry after your walk.

When you first enter you can follow a tree lined trail that is all neatly labeled so you know what you’re looking at. It can lead you to a faerie trail with sprawling low to the ground trees  and lots of secret-garden like cover

The big new thing they opened is  the “boomslang” which is walkway that goes up into the canopy of the trees

and gives a lovely view of the suburb and table mountain. ( it doesn’t look very table-y from this side)

Kirstenbosch has a small stream and pond running through it....this place is huge and there’s lots of different terrain to explore

There are more manicured botanical garden-esque sections which even have a plot of plants that are considered weeds in other countries but friendly indigenous plants here!

 And there are more hiking-trail-esque areas to explore

There is so much land of Kirstenbosch – you can go on some less beaten trails and find huge trees

Or you can picnic on the manicured lawns and enjoy the flowers

All for 70R each (5$)!

Though it’s not part of the city of Capetown it is a lovely way to spend the day in nature without going for a hike.

КЕЙПТАУН 🇿🇦 ⠀ 🌇 Это один из самых красивых мегаполисов в мире. Это не просто город, это огромный конгломерат из собственно даунтауна и городков в радиусте 30-50 км вокруг, это просто фантастические панорамы за каждым холмом, за каждым повтором замечательных хайвев и прибрежных горных серпантинов. Это запах кофе в центре и ароматный совиньон блан, льющийся рекой на многочисленных винодельнях в округе. И, главное, везде вокруг - звенящий шум океана! ⠀ Благодаря скалистому рельефу и океану вокруг, Кейптаун в моём персональном топ-списке вместе с Рио-де-Жанейро и Ванкувером, это города, куда хочется возвращаться снова и снова. ⠀ 👉 Листайте фотографии! Это середина зимы в южном полушарии... А сейчас там весна, лучшее время планировать поездку! ⠀ 🔥 Южная Африка открыта с прошлого года без ограничений, стоимость авибилета туда всё время минимальная из Европы в пределах 300-400 евро. ⠀ 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 И, да, ЮАР - это просто идеальное направление для путешествия с семьей и детьми.
