What's the funniest moment you've read in The Odyssey and The Iliad?

In the Odyssey I think it's that one part where Odysseus throws a discus so far that Athena herself disguises as an npc to compliment his sick discus throwing skills. That or when they're killing the suitors, a bard is begging for his life, and then Telemachus goes "oh yeah that guy is chill. That and this other dude, you should probably spare him too, unless he's dead already." And then the dude in questions rises up from where he was hiding as a corpse and goes "oh yes please spare me"

For the iliad, Diomedes stabbing gods is always a classic. Also the time he really wanted to fight hector and Zeus kept thundering and telling him no. Or when he was shouting at Paris and calling him a pretty loser. Wow there's a lot of funny Diomedes moments. That one scene with Agamemnon scolding Odysseus and odysseus immediately shutting him down was also great

Prompt: Jaune taking Weiss to his homeland and showing her a carved out tree that was next to a bed which signifies when a younger Jaune promised when he married someone he would bring them to the most beautiful place just for that person

Weiss and Jaune would be walking in the town where Jaune was born until he would take Weiss's hand and lead her to a hill and show her a tree that had something carved on it and it would be the symbol of her family with one more underneath and Weiss would be kind of confused and curious and would look at jaune.

Jaune: When I was younger I stood on this hill and I had an incredible view from here and I promised myself that I would bring the person I love the most here.

Jaune would pull a little knife and make the emblem of weiss on the tree which would make her blush and jaune would put the knife away and would be red in the face and would pull out of his pocket a box that contained a golden ring with a blue jewel that would make weiss stay with an expression of happiness and shock.

Jaune: Weiss do you wanna marr-

Weiss: Yes!!

She would pull Jaune for a kiss which would make him blush but then he would take advantage of the kiss and hug her and after a while she would put the ring on and look at the view she had on the hill next to Jaune.

Heck, I love Epic the musical. I'd NEVER pretend it's an accurate adaptation of the Odyssey. Especially after the Thunder saga.

But the spirit has to be kept and the author must do their research. Otherwise, it shows.

White Knight Short 2: The time for a new life.

Weiss would be at her house where she lived with jaune until she won a video call from her sister winter and she would answer with a smile on her face.

Winter: Hi weiss I see that you and jaune are already used to the new house and have you already told him the big news?

Weiss would giggle and blush slightly and rub her hand over her belly and stare at her computer screen looking at her older sister with a smile of genuine happiness on her face.

Weiss: Hehe no I haven't told him yet but I'll wait for him to get home and at the right time I'll tell him hehe.

Winter: You better tell soon mom can't help herself she's so excited to hear she's going to be a grandma.

Weiss would laugh and look around seeing a picture of her with jaune holding a stuffed rabbit and she would have a slightly flushed face and look at the screen next.

Weiss: Sometimes I stop to think if grandpa would be proud of who I am now, you know?

Winter: He would clearly be proud of you and me and even whitley because we didn't follow the example our father wanted but well I'll have to leave because being the leader of a nation is kinda complicated but thanks for the talk weiss.

The two hung up the call and heard a knock on the door and opened it seeing that it would be jaune holding a bouquet of flowers and weiss would blush but then hug and kiss her partner and pull him into the house.

Jaune: Someone woke up very well, didn't they?

Weiss: you are correct silly.

Jaune would pick weiss nose and get up and go in the kitchen to cook something for him and weiss until she goes behind him and hugs him and jaune would look at her a bit confused.

Weiss: Jaune I have to tell you an important new..

Jaune: Oh seriously tell me!

Weiss would take a deep breath and he would take it out of a drawer and show jaune a positive pregnancy test and she would be smiling and jaune would see the test and look at weiss with a big smile on his face and he would point to the test and then to himself and he would nod his head and jaune would pull weiss into a strong hug he would lift her with his arms and look at her with a big smile on his face and tears of happiness falling down his face.

neve nasceu e cresceu em steel haven. sua saúde nunca fora das melhores por causa da constante poluição da zona, mas o único momento em que isso lhe impactou de fato foi quando descobriu que estava grávida. não podia parar de trabalhar porque precisava ter como se manter e alimentar o corpo que agora consumia por dois, tornando a vida mais difícil e, consequentemente, o crescimento pessoal mais difícil também. se seu sonho era ter espaço em uma zona melhor, com uma qualidade de vida decente, a ideia de gestar e criar uma criança a fez desistir. precisaria reduzir seus esforços, seu tempo de trabalho e sua própria autonomia em prol de ember.

segundo ato.

há quem diga que a gravidez nunca foi bem aceita pela genitora, porém se percebeu disposta a tentar criar a filha assim que olhou para o rosto da mesma — a disposição se estendeu até o momento em que ember foi diagnosticada com uma doença no coração que neve sequer sabia da existência, mas que era genética e havia pulado uma geração. sem saber o que fazer, juntou todas as suas economias, inclusive a venda da casa em que morava, para garantir pelo menos que ember sobrevivesse. já não conseguia mais contar a quantidade de cirurgias que a criança havia sido submetida, mesmo com apenas meses de idade, e estava pronta para perder as esperanças quando foi surpreendida por uma oferta: a substituição de artérias orgânicas por artérias mecânicas que seriam ligadas ao coração e fariam com que ember pelo menos alcançasse uma idade de dois dígitos. o assentir veio rápido, mesmo que a filha servisse como uma cobaia para os médicos e cientistas que não haviam realizado aquele procedimento tantas vezes. (tw: menção à suicídio) assim que a cirurgia foi dada como finalizada, tendo sido um sucesso, era de se esperar que neve demonstrasse felicidade, mas a única coisa que sentia era cansaço. havia perdido o trabalho, a casa e todas as suas esperanças em um futuro melhor, principalmente porque já havia aceitado que veria a filha morrer. ember havia nascido com as horas contadas e, mesmo que neve tenha conseguido transformar aquelas horas em anos, sabia que não seria o suficiente para que ember crescesse e se desenvolvesse. foi o motivo principal pelo qual retirou a própria vida pouco tempo depois da conclusão da cirurgia, que havia servido como seu último desejo. ember cresceu em lares adotivos, sendo jogada de casa em casa sem muita cerimônia. apesar de cativar as pessoas, nenhuma família de steel haven tinha dinheiro o suficiente para manter uma criança que precisava de manutenções tão caras. conheceu a discriminação e a desigualdade social desde muito cedo, tendo tido sorte pelo coração continuar a bater mesmo sem qualquer outra intervenção cirúrgica, que precisava acontecer em manutenções pelo menos uma vez por ano. diferente da mãe, o sistema que sustentava requiem city não a fazia querer subir de ranking na tentativa de ter uma vida melhor, só causava revolta, desgosto e rancor, por entender que era justamente aquela hierarquia social que a impedia de ter uma vida digna. durante a adolescência, foi a primeira vez que foi rebaixada de zona. shadow enclave se tornou seu lar, onde aprendeu a se defender e a sobreviver sem precisar de dinheiro ou pontos para isso. recusava-se a participar do sistema, consumir desafios e ser controlada. aos poucos, era reconhecida com uma rebelde. ser direcionada para rust borough havia sido caso pensado. apesar da parte negativa da zona, que era abandonada pelos arquitetos e sofria de pobreza extrema, existia também uma parte positiva: a zona 6 era o lar das atividades contra o governo. foi acolhida por membros da insurrection, que em sua chegada lhe ofereceram apoio, refúgio e, ao adquirirem confiança em ember, a fizeram parte da facção. hoje em dia, juntos, buscam uma revolução que derrube o governo injusto que reina em requiem city e esperam que, em algum momento, todos possam ter uma existência com dignidade — algo que ember reconhece não ter tido.

I wanted to ask you a deep question about a what if scenario, what do you think would've happened if the suitors successfully killed Telemachus and how would it affect the overall plot, most importantly, Odysseus and Penelope?

Ofc, I'm not Homer so I don't know everything but holy shit. I DO think Athena may have possibly stepped in, or if he was still killed, she would have helped Penelope. (all of them being her faves) If I were to use as an AU in my writing, I'll have to explain somethings :'D

If I were to do this as an AU in my works, I'd probably have her seek refuge with the Naiads, as that already happens in my fics. Odysseus has a shitton of canals in the castle as the reason WHY he partially went to Sparta during Helen's suitors is to get supplies as I plan to have Ithaca and some of the islands he rules over get hit by a minor quake the fucked up the castle. (he already had plans in motion, just needed supplies.) When he met Penelope and learned how she basically needed access to Water always, he sent NEW blueprints/plans back as he wanted to make her happy and give her what she needed. His thoughtfulness eases Icarius and Periboea's worries about him and her going to live on a "rock".

More to it but yeah. It's built in a way where it'd be impossible to go through if you're not a naiad or naiad born as you'd drown...Penelope and Telemachus HAVE found some suitor's bodies in these areas, as the islands don't have MANY Naiad born (especially not at marriageable age. Some naiads, seeing how happy Penelope is and having watched her and Odysseus act, thought "...That sounds nice. Wonder if I could get that." so there are SOME young naiads born eventually on Ithaca)

The pool/canal that's basically in their chamber, needs a special puzzle solved so therefore not even naiad born could get through. (She wasn't completely cooped up. She snuck out through this way to the caves.)

Even then, I plan for her to mention to the beggar that once Telemachus can inherit the throne safely, she'll probably be a Naiad full time as to not get married again. So if Telemachus was killed, she'd do that.

Possibly try to get control over the island in some ways as the suitors will obviously be pissed as "where's the queen?"

When Odysseus comes it's obviously a very...hard moment for them. Odysseus obviously never got to truly meet what his son grew up to be even for that short while... :'D And they'd probably kind of do the same as the Odyssey.

Afterward though? I might rewrite some things and make it so that they're 46-47 instead of 45 when they reunite but idk for sure. An heir is needed though (and even then I do kind of plan to have them have a child afterward as holy shit, the drama??? The mixture of joy and pain each family member has???ksdl SO MUCH FUN TO THINK ABOUT. :'D )

Odysseus and Penelope, being aspec and just straight up not wanting others won't hear anything about concubines just like they did before. He does what he said before Telemachus was born: "I'm ripped up from that Boar, I am to blame. Even if I had others it's not likely. Leave us alone."

Look, they're basically obsessed with each other and also fucked up as hell sometimes. Odysseus killed Astyanax, I think he'd steal a baby so he wouldn't have to be with any other.

Also with Odysseus' trauma from the rapes? He has PTSD and Penelope is really the only one he feels safe around with it. War PTSD is something else entirely but Penelope, the only person he's ever wanted, makes him feel safe. Her reassuring him that she loves him and doesn't blame him, is what helps him alongside time :')

They eventually have an heir but also... Telemachus is constantly on both of their minds. Especially Penelope's as she raised him. :')
