The Villa la Grange is an 18th-century manor house at the center of Parc la Grange on the shores of Lake Geneva, Switzerland It is the site of today's meeting on  between President Biden and President Vladimir V. Putin. The mansion was built between 1768 and 1773 by the Lullin family. Its design is attributed to the architect Jean-Louis Bovet, inspired by the Chateau de Crans (Swiss, 1764). The villa was used mainly as a summer residence but after The French Revolution the house was in ruins. The banker, Jean Lullin, sold LaGrange to Francois Favre, wealthy foreign trade merchant, 1800. The estate was given to the City of Geneva in 1917 by its last owner, William Favre, it was stipulated that it was ‘to be held in perpetuity for the enjoyment of the people of Geneva’.

The interior decoration evolved over time. Guillaume Favre, for example, refurbished the Louis XVI main sitting room in the Empire style. He also redecorated the bedrooms on the upper floor. The villa is now mainly as it was when left to the city by its donor around the end of the First World War; the furniture and paintings (portraits of the Favre family and landscapes) gives us a pretty clear picture of a vanished way of life. In any case, it allows the City of Geneva to host gala receptions there for its distinguished guests.

The 18th-century plush Villa La Grange overlooking Lake Geneva, is a former grand family home used to host the Swiss city’s civic receptions for more than a century.

It was in 1918 when William Favre, a shipping merchant, donated the villa and park to the city of Geneva, with strict instructions "to be allocated in perpetuity as a public park for the enjoyment of the people of Geneva".

Behind the elegant facade of the villa hides a magnificent library, preserved according to the wishes of M Favre.

In 1864, the villa was chosen as a venue for the closing ceremony of the inauguration of the Geneva Convention, a movement of the Red Cross founded by Henry Dunant.

In 1969, Pope Paul VI celebrated a mass in the park in front of 70,000 people.
