The lost glamour of Villa Iolas, long ago abandoned, was once the louche retreat of bon vivant and art collector Alexander Iolas. * The artist Taki referred to his sculptures and paintings as “symbols of the universal magnetism of the erotic.” In the foreground, a human torso, and a black metal slide you can clang with a suspended ball that hangs in back; in the corner a series of three white paintings mounted on ancient stone capitals; against the wall, a yellow three dimensional painting with re-tractable white disks that return magnetically after you pull them forward. * “A tableau is the surface from which things come out.
