Here’s another princess #glowup! The first photo was taken in like...2016, I think? It’s amazing how a few short years can yield drastically different results with the same costume, but better makeup and a more professionally-styled wig. I did my best in the first photo (which wasn’t very good WHOOPS), but Baphomet Cosplay’s wig work is so magical! I don’t often get to spend time with Belle, so I’m itching to go back to this castle and reshoot her sometime! Final #FallforCostume post! Days 30 and 31, 'beginnings' and 'endings'. 30: every cosplay begins with a toile... at least it does now. I didn't used to, but as I've grown as a seamstress, I've learned how important a toile is. It may seem redundant, but I promise you, it makes all the difference. 31: and every cosplay ends up fitting gorgeously because of said toile. I want sure what to do for ending, because I'm not finished sewing, I don't have a cosplay the fits the ending theme. So I chose this. And it's also my last cosplay finished, so I guess that also fits. I had a lot of fun with this prompt. #FallforCostume day eight is 'black' and I'm stretching this a bit and using my very dark brown Belle wig as my black post so I can share a wig tutorial! . 1. Separate hair along the top and front. You'll need this later. 2. Back comb hair for your bang poof. 3. Shape back combed hair into the shape of Belle's bangs. 4. Pin separated hair from step one over back combed hair so it looks nice and pretty. Hair spray as needed. 5. Tie off with small plastic hair tie to keep neat while you repeat on the other side. 6. Using hair to cleverly cover the elastic, pull remaining hair into a low ponytail. Secure with large plastic hair tie. Put in your bow and you're good to go! . #FallforCostume day four is "structured" and I think another new photo of my village Belle is appropriate. I really took my time on this cosplay... months! And I made sure the pieces fit me as well as possible. This cosplay is as structured a garment as I've made. Taking my time really paid off, and although simple in design, I think it's some of my best work. Anyone else doing the #fallforcostume challenge by @redthreaded? This is my first year participating so I hope I can post most days. Day one is intro! . My name is Anna and I've been sewing for nearly 20 years, but only seriously for the past 5. I started cosplaying in 2013 and a few years into it, I started to take my sewing seriously, looking up tutorials, techniques, etc. So I feel like I'm nearly a beginner most of the time. . I finally finished village Belle! The bow and the wig were finished last night and that's what I'm sharing today for #wipwednesday since pattern cutting isn't all that exciting and that's what I'm actually doing today. Not so exciting #wipwednesday as I continue on village Belle. The main dress is almost finished! Just have to hand hem the blue dress. Then I need to style the wig and make the blue hair bow. I feel like I've been working on this incredibly simple cosplay for ages! It should have been a quick and easy cosplay but so many things went wrong. Not only with the cosplay itself, but also just life events happening that prevented me from working on it. But the end is in sight! Made some progress on the white shirt today. I might just get this finished for Space Coast Comic Con next weekend. The cuffs gave me a little fuss. The instructions weren't very clear, but I think I have them figured out. They're not finished yet, still need a slip stitch. This might be the first time I've made cuffs. Mini pocket tutorial part 2! . 1. With right sides together, line up front and back skirt. Put your pocket on top of your front skirt panel. 2. Sew side seams leaving a space for the pocket opening. Turn right side out. 3. Pin pocket seam in. 4. Pin front and back skirt to meet pocket. This will form your pocket top stitch. 5. Carefully stitch at a scant 1/8 inch. 6. Attach skirt to top, making sure to attach pocket top in the seam. . And you're finished! You now have pockets! Super easy, right? I finally have the base blue dress mostly finished (hem and zipper left). I decided to mash up two patterns I already owned (full tutorial on my blog later). I made only the bib (minus the bottom band) following the directions in the pattern and leaving off the straps. I then made the skirt (minus the waistband) following the pattern directions. Then, I matched the center's and sewed them together. The zipper I will measure and will have to work with a little to make sure it isn't wonky, but otherwise this was an easy mashup. And making a mockup was essential in getting everything perfect. . You don't have to find the perfect pattern. You can sometimes use elements of numerous patterns and make them work for you. This was a very simple way to show how that can be done. .
