I went a little overboard ദ്ദി(ᵕ—ᴗ—)

In this Modern!AU, Felix and Viktor both graduated from the University of Piltover at around the same age. Viktor studied in Engineering and Biotechnology while Felix studied in Engineering and Mathematics. Due to the partial overlap in interests, they met during University rather than after. 

The two of them took up respective roles at the University, where Viktor became the assistant dean to Heimerdinger and Felix took up a position as a department head. Teaching never occurred to either of them for a long while, not until Viktor started to ‘sit in’ on some of the lectures Heimerdinger himself taught.

I’m going to skip over the details purely because of how boring they are, but long story short, Viktor became one of the teaching staff. (Once Heimerdinger saw his very ridged academic schedule, he made the educated choice of extending an offer to Felix as well to counter it. Plus Felix was already very accustomed to the Engineering department due to his head position, so he could handle the additional role quite well.)

Because the two of them were once again in close proximity, Felix and Viktor simply picked up where they left off. They got a lot closer over time, turning into really good friends. At some point, they decided to move in with each other to avoid financial strain and because it seemed fun.

There was a period long after this move (approx 3 years now) that had Felix and Viktor questioning things. After living with each other for so long it was hard to tell if they were actually together or if this was still just something of convenience. (Honestly this is going to happen in every universe because they both suck at emotional communication. But I digress.)

It took the two of them some time before giving up and accepting the fact that this was clearly a relationship, one that they both enjoyed. They didn’t care to announce anything, since all their friends either already saw them as together or just assumed nothing had changed (since nothing really did besides their label). 

Now going back to what I said on my last Modern!AU post, I’m just gonna go more in depth.

Viktor’s classes required much more detail and overall structure due to how meticulous and specific they needed to be. It seemed to cause a bit of strain on his students, but he deemed it necessary. This made him quite infamous, and upperclassmen often warned the freshmen over his teaching styles.

Felix‘s classes were a lot more hands on, less use of textbooks and notes with more focus on actually experiencing what you’re doing. He normally worked along side the students and had his own fun during large projects, earning him a title as ‘the cool professor’. It was quite hard to find him in the classroom, mainly because he’s blending in with all his students. 

I decided to keep the aspects of Zaunites not having last names just because. The concept is very interesting. Anyways.

Viktor and Felix already don’t do anything ‘romantic’ in public unless it’s incredibly subtle (like brushing hands together, quick cheek kisses when no one’s looking, etc) so other staff and students believed they were simply coworkers.  

This also resulted in many students who were a part of Viktor’s curriculum often going to complain about him to Felix, since they both taught similar subjects. Bless my boy’s heart because he somehow managed to keep a straight face every single time. 

(Felix would also relay these complaints to his darling boyfriend. Viktor sometimes took them into account before adjusting his curriculum for the next quarter.)

The two of them were so stupidly lowkey about their relationship outside the house that nobody knew they were dating. That is, until a student walking to class saw Viktor coming to school with Felix. 

Felix was the first to be questioned, since he finds his students’ nosiness to be funny and is less scary than his beloved counterpart. He wasn’t too sure if Viktor wanted their relationship to be announced (they never fully talked about it) so he shrugged it off by saying they lived nearby and decided it would be cheaper—which wasn’t a lie.

Viktor was soon questioned as well since everyone knew Felix was full of shit—affectionately. He knew that Felix didn’t care if they were open about it or not, so he decided to shrug and say “Dating him for six years has its perks.”

He did start laughing at the shocked look on his students faces. 

Viklix’s relationship was one of those things that seemed so obvious that there was no way it was real. And yet here they were. Felix later confirmed this as well, leading many students who complained to him feeling immense embarrassment. 

Kind of unrelated but here are some other fun facts about viklix and their modern!AU:

⚙︎ Felix used to do his digital blueprints and art pieces on this really old iPad he had—not even able to remember how he got it in the first place. One winter his students had decided to collaborate and buy him a better one for Christmas (there were lots of happy tears)

⚙︎ Viktor eventually gave in and started wearing his glasses in class (BOTH of them, yes) after realizing it’s hard to teach with blurry vision 

⚙︎ Felix makes up a new story every year for how he lost his right arm. Viktor is obviously informed beforehand to back up these stupid stories

⚙︎ Viktor was the one who chose their shared apartment, and it’s very homey inside. Like you can tell it’s lived in and the residents are so happy with each other. He and Felix both aren’t too organized (“there’s a system!!!” and it’s a system only they can decipher), so you’ll see blueprints tossed around randomly, sticky notes all over the walls, and haphazardly stacked books with odd trinkets they’ve either bought or made. It’s just a a lot of wonderful chaos.

⚙︎ Felix saved up for a motorcycle since he was 16 and managed to buy one in his mid 20s (for reference he and Viktor are now mid/late 30s)!

⚙︎ Viktor does not wear his reading glasses or his day-to-day glasses outside of lectures/labs and being at home. He would rather die. (This isn’t different from their canon-compliant world but I just wanted to add it lmao) 

⚙︎ Sometimes Viklix co-teach lectures together if they’re working on similar units, much to Viktor’s students’ relief and Felix’s students’ dismay. 

⚙︎ Felix is on first name basis with all his students (due to the last name situation ). Viktor took a different approach and is only referred to as “Professor”.
