1. Do you have a certain place at home for reading? not really, I read everywhere, although the sun room is especially nice.

2. Do you use bookmarks? If so, what kind? if I remember to use one, then it’ll be one of those patterned ones with a dangly charm on it.

3. Can you stop reading or do you have to make it to the end of the chapter? I usually make it to the end of the chapter.

4. Do you eat or drink while reading? sometimes. I like reading and drinking tea or reading during lunch/dinner.

5. Music or tv while reading? no thank you.

6. One book at a time or multiple? definitely multiple. it’s hard to focus on just one.

7. Reading at home or while out? at home, unless I’m staying at somebody’s house or something

8. Reading out loud or silently? silently, unless I’m struggling to be engaged with the book, then I’ll start reading it out loud.

9. Do you read ahead or skip pages? I try not to.

10. Breaking the spine? I like to be gentle but it’s probably going to break if you love it enough.

11. Do you write in your books? this year I started underlining lines/phrases/words/etc (and sticky-noting if it’s for school).

See I actually had a discussion about this in regards to media in general yesterday with some friends! We were talking about how it’s really hard to define what gets considered canon and not canon for something in terms of stuff like this. 

Like take books. You have to pay for a first book. And then you have to pay for the sequel. Say a character gets confirmed to be (x/y/z) in the second book. Would you consider the character to not be that identity in the first book, since you have to pay for the sequel? Would trying to analyse the first properly without info from the second give a lacking analysis since it misses out key details? The same could be said of TV shows, the episodes come out one at a time, if you missed an episode would you just consider that ‘non canon’ because you, personally hadn’t seen it? 

And then it gets to stuff like patreon content for media that is normally free, whether that be a web comic or podcast or something else. The content still exists, it’s just got a pay wall up for you to access it first hand, but what defines the line between it being canon or not? What makes it different from being like a book and it’s sequels? 

How does that compare to older literature? You’ve got stuff like Charles Dickens stories, that you had to buy each chapter or so separately to read the next instalment. That means it’s technically behind a paywall for the entire thing. So where do you draw the intellectual line between something being considered ‘canon’ for a media? Is there such a thing as a bad-faith take on it where say, a character is confirmed by the creator or the text to be queer behind a paywall but someone says “Well I didn’t pay for it so it’s not canon To Me” despite them knowing about it through being told by others. Does that count as them erasing the character’s identity? How do you interpret someone’s interpretation. I don’t have any actual answers here, I just think it’s interesting to think about. This got WAY off track from RQ stuff and into general media and now my head kinda hurts from thinking about it. 

the magnus deluxe transcripts arent canon, theyre in the same category as the fluff episodes, more psuedo-canon.

I think they said the fluff eps are specifically not canon at all since they were written by fans? Is there somewhere this was said for the deluxe transcripts though?

so tumblr has changed the activity feed and I also can't get xkit to work most of the time anymore. Does anyone know of a way in which I can reply to other people's replies like this, since Tumblr no longer naturally allows it?

I much prefer to do it this way, seeing as this is a sideblog and I like to keep my language stuff separate from my... Everything else stuff? It's just easier to keep my notifications sorted and not accidentally miss anyone's comments like that.

Until then, if you hadn't figured, my main is @vikingqueer and I guess that's where I'll be replying from until I find a workaround.
