not 2 be trans on main, but like... inigo not being a pegasus knight like the rest of his family has always bothered him. he rlly wanted to fly alongside his moms and sister, and while he’s glad abt how nicely and easily his family accepted him when he came out, he’s always been frustrated with himself for not being able to ride a pegasus, and always worried that he couldnt spend time with sumia because of that fact.

LASLOW AND XANDER, PARALLELS AND FOILS.

okay ! this is all my interpretation and Thoughts, and is based in revelations. so. starting with parallels :

both have lost their parents, in sudden, tragic, and extremely traumatic ways. ( for the sake of the argument, garon is dead- even if his corpse is still kicking. )

laslow and xander both grew up in dangerous / tumultuous times. ( see also : the concubine war, and soleil’s p/c a support with laslow confirming that this is the inigo from the base game of awakening and not the future past dlc. )

both have lost people that were incredibly close, that in some capacity, they fought alongside- and they both carry the deaths of those comrades with them- years ( in laslows case and possibly over a decade ) later. 

laslow and xander have been given roles that neither of them were actually ready for, thrust into the role of caretaker and guardians of their remaining families / ppl that they cared about.

when they were both children, they both suffered from shyness and social anxiety, and overcame it via a parent ( to some extent )

in my flawed opinion, i propose that laslow and xander are foils of each other ; they’ve both been tasked with taking down an evil godking : inigo jumped at the chance to help anankos with his task without a second thought, xander sticks his head in the sand and drags his feet almost to the point that it was too late.

thinking about how this has a lot more nuance to fe awakening fans- considering laslow saw his mom die protecting him in the future, and its all but outright stated that he also saw many of the people he cared about die protecting him in the future as well, and that it’s probably his greatest nightmare to see soleil follow in the footsteps of those before her- no matter how good her intentions.

what if inigo hates saying the words i love you, because he says them so often and without meaning. they mean nothing to him what if instead he says why dont you stay for dinner. do you want me to get you something from the store. just stay a little longer. those are things he wants to hear from other people.

the reason inigo can’t dance to restore other’s is because he’s copying olivia’s dance instead of making his own.

i have few coherent thoughts about modern inigo, but : - either goes by inigo / laslow. no real preference- and frequently goes by both. - parties hard. - owns the shittiest looking car known to man, appears to be a death trap but its very reliable and gets amazing gas mileage.                              - its got a tape player, a cd player, AND a very good audio system. a classically trained premier danseur ( the masculine counter part to a prima ballerina ) spends his time split between the city and his dancing & olivia & sumia’s horse farm & the shepherd’s volunteer work. ( on top of his job and schooling. ) INIGO IS A HORSE BOY, TRY AND PRY THIS FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS.

desperately thinking abt laslow & the mu’s b-support esp this line :

after all, no one knows where their friends may disappear to next. life is more fragile than most of us ever imagine... one moment, a friend is standing beside you, smiling. and the next, they're gone. and you realize that you will never see them again.

it just. hurts. esp w / the knowledge that his time line was a doomed one, that when he was inigo, he lost , and lost , and lost, and he lost everything and then some. and the way he talks is honestly kinda nihilistic & yet hedonistic in its own way, but yet mature and understanding- showing how much he’s grown and healed since awakening and yet here he is : fighting someone else’s war, because fighting and war is all he’s known- and he’s come to terms with the possibility of his death in the most poetically beautfiul way possible.

sometimes, inigo will refer to severa as ‘ his sister ’, and he genuinely does consider sev to be a like a sister / a honorary sister to him.

still thinking abt how inigo saw olivia die. how he lost every friend that he made, either by them actually dying, or by sabotaging his relationships by flirting or fighting, and how instead of working past that shallow veneer of a person so traumatized- things like being drugged and robbed didn’t even phase him, everyone gave up on him and wrote him off as only good for fighting and how he just accepts it.

also. the more i think abt it, the more i think inigo’s skirtchaser persona is a relatively recent development. supports with the future kids have them express disgust with him ( which could just be anger and confusion ), and that the fact that inigo is still alive also points to that.

i mean. prior to the return to the past, inigo was the semi-reclusive leader of a teenage mercenary band who had a smile for everyone, and had a very reserved personality, probably being quite shy to those outside of his charge.

inigo is ( part ) fantasy russian, and his first language is also fantasy russian. the main language he speaks at home, with his mothers and sister is feroxian, and he does tend to bungle his ylissian a bit- the languages and nuances of ylissan vs feroxian is a challenge for him. afterall, in the future: he really only spoke to owain & sev & cynthia, along with his own merc band ( almost all of whom were, spoke feroxi like he did . )

in feroxi : he’s very much well spoken to the point of being nearly poetic, articulate and does a lot of wordplay and puns, and is about 20xs more charming than in any other language.

as detailed in this post : his accent is not the one the va was going for in english,

also, you’ll see him refer to sumia as mama, ( mah-mah ) or even rarer : mamka ( mahm-kah ) which- one: inigo is the biggest momma’s boy in the second gen kids, and two: mama is just russian / a common slavic language word for mom.
