This colorful primate is known as The Red-Shanked Douc (Pygathrix nemaeus). It is a species of Old World monkey, among the most colourful of all primates. This monkey is sometimes called the "costumed ape" for its extravagant appearance. From its knees to its ankles it sports maroon-red "stockings", and it appears to wear white forearm length gloves. Its attire is finished with black hands and feet. The golden face is framed by a white ruff, which is considerably fluffier in males. The eyelids are a soft powder blue. The tail is white with a triangle of white hair at the base. Males of all ages have a white spot on both sides of the corners of the rump patch, and red and white genitals. The douc is an arboreal and diurnal monkey that eats and sleeps in the trees of the forest. - Wikipedia This is a #repost from @berndbruins via @PhotoAroundApp Roodscheendoek #sontra 2017 #vietnam #danang #wildlife #redshankeddouc #endangeredspecies #aap #primaten #primates #greenviet #vietnamwildlife #natuurfotografie #naturephotography #natuur #nature #kleuren #colors #regenwoud #jungle #rainforest #azie #asia https://www.instagram.com/p/B0dT9omgRGV/?igshid=jttbe5i3g6ft

Last post today and I chose this from amazing @dp4k.m #Repost @mounteverestofficial @suzieszterhas: "It's Endangered Species Day. What can you do to help endangered species? 1. Learn about endangered species in your area.
Teach your friends and family about the wonderful wildlife, birds, fish and plants that live near you. 2. Visit a national wildlife refuge, park or other open space
. These protected lands provide habitat to many native wildlife, birds, fish and plants. 3. Make your home wildlife friendly.
Secure garbage in shelters or cans with locking lids, feed pets indoors and lock pet doors at night to avoid attracting wild animals into your home. Reduce your use of water in your home and garden so that animals that live in or near water can have a better chance of survival. Disinfect bird baths often to avoid disease transmission. Place decals on windows to deter bird collisions. Use all natural cleaning products in your home. 4. Plant native plants in your garden to provide food and shelter for native wildlife. Attracting native insects like bees and butterflies can help pollinate your plants. 5. Herbicides and pesticides may keep yards looking nice but they are in fact hazardous pollutants that affect wildlife at many levels. 6. Slow down when driving. 7. Recycle and buy sustainable products. 8. Never purchase products made from threatened or endangered species.
Be informed and cautious when buying souvenirs on overseas travels. Souvenirs can be made from species nearing extinction. 9. Protect wildlife habitat.
Support wildlife habitat and open space protection in your community. When you are buying a house, consider your impact on wildlife habitat. 10. Donate to wildlife conservation organizations. Every little bit helps. Here are some of the organizations I am proud to support: @orangutanssos, @ccfcheetah, @slothconservation, @wildnetorg, @vietnamwildlife , @tigertimenow, @proyectotiti, @orangutanfoundationintl, and the Kibale Chimpanzee Project."

The cruel and inhumane trafficking in Pangolins in Vietnam and throughout Southeast Asia must be stopped! Please watch this video by @vietnamwildlife and support their heroic efforts to save poached Pangolins! This is a #repost from @lastchanceearth via @PhotoAroundApp This ridiculous illegal trade is cruel and horrible, trapping and terrorizing to kill them for fake medicine. These noble creatures need our help and awareness. I am featuring Pangolins and organizations like these in my coloring book, launching tomorrow on 8/9! ✨ #rp @vietnamwildlife - URGENT RESCUE: We need help! On August 3rd 2017, we received a phone call alerting us to a confiscation of 72 critically endangered Sunda Pangolins and Chinese Pangolins who were detected by Vietnamese government authorities trying to cross into China as part of the illegal wildlife trade, to be sold for traditional medicine and bushmeat. We deployed our Rapid Response Team on a rescue mission that lasted 12 hours, from 5pm until 5am. Sadly, by the time we arrived, only 34 Pangolin were still alive. Many of them have injuries that appear to have been sustained during capture from the wild, as hunters use snare traps or cut through the tree branches to get the Pangolin hiding in the hollow. Pangolins instinctively curl up in a tight ball when afraid and the hunters tie them in mesh bags so tightly that they are unable to uncoil and many suffocate in their own urine and faeces. Before being traded, they were forcefully uncurled, had a tube inserted down their throat and had their stomachs pumped full of gruel so they weighed more for sale. If you would like to donate you can do so via this link in our bio.Thank you! #Pangolins #SaveThePangolin #StopIllegalPoaching #StopTheIllegalWildlifeTrade #VietnameseWildlife https://www.instagram.com/p/B0bwYOBA1u6/?igshid=nnu7iehbb94o
