The day I got my first Red camera when I received it two years ago. This camera wouldn’t really be considered old, but if it were anything other than a RED, it would be obsolete already. When I talked myself into buying this camera, I thought about all the other potential contenders and their price points. I could have bought a Sony Fs7 and had money left over. I could have bought two or three Sony Fs5s with money left over. I could have bough a few really amazing lenses and gone to a panasonic gh5, but I chose the RED for many reasons. The discussion of dynamic range, frame rates, resolution, bit depth, etc always lead me back to a RED which tops them all. Even to this day, two years later the RED still outperforms any of these cameras. I think Sony is close with the Fs9, but still got a lot of work to do.
