The Wednesday Play: Stand Up, Nigel Barton (BBC, 1965)
"Everyone's gone to the moon."
"That's this place, all right."
"Some moon."
"Bright and shiny when you're a long way off; cold and rains hard when you get there."
"Who said that?"
"I did!"
"You mean you actually talk like that? It doesn't sound right with your accent."

Turner, J., Seevinck, J., Foth, M., Armstrong, K., Vickery, N., Kelly, N., Tyurina, A., McKinnon, H., Low, A., & Davies, L. (2022). Kinning With The Unseen More-Than-Human: Re-Sensing Barrambin’s Disappeared Waterways And Creeks For Community Connection To Place. Australian Council of University Art and Design Schools (ACUADS).
This was a really interesting read, particularly in trying to form ideas about connections with Barrambin. I think this assignment has been a little out of my depth as I do not have many connections to Brisbane. I moved here as a teenager and so do have sentimental places, but a lot of Brisbane is unexplored to me and I don't know much about Brisbane's history. I had actually never heard of Barrambin or Victoria Park prior to this unit. I am finding however I am starting to piece together a picture of the park and its history. I'm also really interested - particularly it's name Windy Place. I think it opens itself up to discussions about flow, movement, and communication - wind and breath? I really like the idea of mowing out designs or creating perhaps windchimes- though I worry that would be too on the nose

This costume, created over forty years ago has been spotted at least ten times over the years and has almost certainly been used even more. It appears with different accessories each time. Because this gown has been used so many times, it is interesting to note how the color changes based off of the lighting in each production.  Sometimes the pattern on the gown is clearly visible, while in other productions it almost completely disappears.
The costume was first seen in the 1972 adaptation of Cranford, where it was worn by Freda Dowie as Miss Brown. In 1973 it was spotted on Vickery Turner as Charlotte Brontë in The Brontës of Haworth. In 1977 it was seen on Kate Nicholls as Kate Nickleby in Nicholas Nickleby, and the next year in 1978 on Judy Cornwell as Bessy Tulliver in The Mill on the Floss. In 1983 it was worn in Jane Eyre, where it appeared on Zelah Clark in the title role. In 1986 the dress appeared again on Sandra Payne as Mrs. Micawber in a production of David Copperfield. The dress was not seen again for eight years until it was spotted on Rachel Power as Mary Garth in the 1994 Middlemarch, and then again in 1999 in Olivier Twist, where it was worn by Annette Crosbie as Mrs. Bedwin. In 2001 the gown could be seen on an extra in Nicholas Nickleby, and finally, in 2008 it was seen on Freema Agyeman as Tattycoram in Little Dorrit.

EVERYBRETTY Watch-along! (a Jeremy Brett trash watching party):
The Good Soldier (1981)
Run time: 1 hour 44 minutes
What: Jeremy Brett. It’s been a while since I’ve seen this one, but it’s a drama. Jeremy does wear a cream-colored suit in it though! :) Oh here, I should stop being lazy and use the imdb description: A romantic tragedy about two turn-of-the-century couples - one American, one British - who regularly vacation together at a spa in Germany. Also with Robin Ellis, Vickery Turner, and Susan Fleetwood (and John Ratzenburger, from Cheers, omg?). Content warning for suicide--I think it happens off-camera.
When: Wednesday, December 13, 7:00 PM GMT / 1:00 PM (US Central) Time zone converter
Where: Online with rabb.it; will post a link 10 minutes before start time. Every Brettian everywhere is invited. Let us know if you’d like to be tagged, or to be no longer tagged in these.

Serenbe, Glenwood Park builder debuts project simply called ‘Summerhill’ from $300Ks
Tumblr media
A watercolor rendering of what’s under construction between Reed and Fraser streets, a block east of Georgia State Stadium. | Hedgewood Homes/Compass
Rising community will eventually entail 100 homes next to Georgia Avenue eateries and the former Turner Field
Significant changes in Summerhill aren’t relegated to Georgia Avenue storefronts and big lots being transformed into apartment hubs.
Coming to market next door to Wood’s Chapel BBQ and Junior’s Pizza, just south of Georgia Avenue’s reborn retail buzz, is a multifamily residential project by Hedgewood Homes, a builder whose communities span metro Atlanta and tend to echo old-world town centers.
Hedgewood’s latest intown venture is called, simply, “Summerhill”—or what marketers are pitching as “Atlanta’s new front door.”
Carter, the developer behind most of the neighborhood’s ongoing construction, partnered with Hedgewood to create a for-sale, residential component that will eventually span 2.5 acres and include about 100 homes. The sites have largely been surface parking lots or vacant land.
Per Carter reps, about one-fourth of the expected 100 homes are delivering this fall, as recent listings indicate.
Tumblr media
Carter
The site, just south of Georgia Avenue retail, as seen earlier this year.
The first section entails two, three, and four-story homes with an emphasis on gardens—both private and communal, maintained by a pro gardener—along with social porches and, in some cases, rooftop decks.
The overall aesthetic is described as “modern, classic, and elevated architecture that relates and complements the past and future.”
Prices begin at $299,900 for a two-story flat with a single bedroom and bathroom (square footages aren’t specified).
On the flipside are three or four-story standalone houses, priced up to $514,000; and the costliest offering to date, a two-bedroom corner unit with a roof deck on the third level, asking $527,000.
HOA fees vary, of course, depending on size.

Hedgewood Homes
The project’s location, as designated with an “S,” relative to other points of interest.
Across metro Atlanta, Hedgewood is known for building residential sections of Serenbe, Alpharetta City Center, Cumming’s Vickery, and Glenwood Park.
More recently, the company’s projects have included the Manchester community between Midtown and Buckhead, a high-end cove of houses called Rock Spring near Piedmont Park, and a forthcoming Lake Claire townhome project.

A broader outlook for future phases.
Meanwhile, development associated with Georgia State is moving forward in the area; renderings emerged last month for the university’s new $85 million convocation center, which is set to rise in Summerhill between the stadium and downtown Atlanta.
And national developer Alliance Residential is launching a project with almost 300 luxury apartments—called Broadstone Summerhill—a few blocks north of Georgia Avenue, near Interstate 20.

Mason Wood (hamstring) was left out of North’s final team on Sunday after injuring himself at training on Friday, while Lachlan Hansen (quad) did not pass a fitness test and Nick Larkey was omitted after playing in North’s win over Sydney last Sunday.
