                                                     ___________
"You read romance novels." Raivis hummed, sipping his cooling tea as he tried to ignore the sound of Eduard moving around his house. “You think romance is beautiful.”
Romance, he thought as he listened to the shuffling of the other nation up the stairs, was not walking into his brother-like nation’s house and finding him and Denmark making out on the couch. This was worse than when Raivis had walked into the pantry during the Soviet Union and spotted Lithuania and  Prussia hate-fucking near the can of beans he needed for dinner. At least then it made sense given the desperation and depression that the Soviet Union brought, but this, this did not.
This was messy and eww and weird. The thump upstairs brought a small shiver to him, definitely weird
Also, he thought as Estonia brought a plate of sugar cookies to the coffee table, romance was the beautiful sight of two people courting, and flirting, and trying not to fall in love with each other. It was when two people snarked at each other and then held hands when they needed to escape the bad guy - it was everything that was not either of his brothers.
“I didn’t know you and Denmark was dating,” Raivis said instead of all that.
Eduard sighed and dropped into the armchair next to him, “Can we change the subject,” he asked.
Latvia shook his head and sipped his tea again, “So how was your meeting with Russia?”
“You’re just asking the most uncomfortable questions right now.” Estonia moved to grab his cup off the table, glaring at him as he did so.
“Yes, I’m aware,” he answered with a smile on his face, “Your point?”
Estonia blew a breath across the cup’s top, seemingly deciding which uncomfortable question he minded answer less. “We’re not dating,” he said shortly.
“That bad of a meeting,” Raivis mused as he reached for a sugar cookie, “These are horrible, you know that right?”
“I’m aware,” Eduard said tersely. Shaking his head, the other blond continued, “Raivis, why are you here?”
Ugh. “I was bored,” he lied as he ate the rest of the sugar cookie. “My bosses gave me a vacation.” The look Estonia gave him told Raivis that the other didn’t believe him in the slightest. Raivis tried to keep his face from heating up.
“Raivis,” Estonia said, his voice that same tone that both him and Lithuania used whenever they wanted to wheedle something out of him. “You can tell me anything, I promise.”
He shook his head. “So, if you’re not dating, why are you sleeping together?” Raivis had no desire to focus on his own problems, that’s why he visited the Estonian. If Estonia had a slogan - which, if Raivis thought about, he probably did - it would be ‘Have problems you don’t want to deal with? Come visit! I’ve got saunas and rye bread!’.
With a weary sigh, Eduard sat up slightly, “We’re not sleeping together, we’re not dating,” he said before asking, “Are you dating? Sleeping with someone?”
The cup, now empty of it’s tea, paused on it’s way to the table. Darn, Raivis thought as he flushed red. “Can we not talk about this while your friend with benefit is upstairs?”
Eduard gave him a look before nodding, “Fine,” he replied, moving to stand, “So have you walked in on Lithuania and Poland recently?”
Raivis truly wanted to be buried six feet under. “I went to Taurys first,” he admitted, shrugging as he did so. “He’s easier to talk to about-” He cut himself off as another thump sounded from upstairs. “What is he doing up there?”
“Who knows.” Eduard rolled his eyes, “We were supposed to be talking about our last meeting -”
“With your tongue down his mouth?”
“Shut up.”

Prompt: 5. "I might just kiss you."  Series: Unofficial Fic.tober 2k19 Fandom: Hetalia. Characters: aph den.mark. aph est.onia. minor bit of aph fin.land Pairings: denest. Warnings/Tags: None Summary:  Impromptu visits, Nikolaj knew weren't the best
A/N: cute fluffy denest because the next time you see this ship on this blog it’s just going to be angsty and angsty. anyway. this is just some fun that was cute to write. hope you guys enjoy. if you want to prompt me anything from the prompt list RIGHT HERE then please do!
                                                       __________
With the birds chirping and the lake a nice cool balm against the heat, Nikolaj swam from one end to the other, a smile on his face. "It's so nice!" He called to Eduard, who sat on the lakeside, his feet in the water and a phone to his ear.
Impromptu visits, Nikolaj knew weren't the best, but with the weather climbing high this weekend, he figured that Eduard would've asked for time off. He hadn't, of course, which was the reason he was on the phone instead of swimming in the cool water.
"Uh huh," Eduard was saying as Nikolaj swam towards him. Laying his head on Eduard's lap, skin wetting the other's pants, Nikolaj listened to the conversation. He had always liked Eduard's language; it was gentle and musical, and hearing it now as the world was near silent, he could remember the first time he met Eduard.
Long before his people had won the battle that had given him Eduard’s nation with the strength they were given by God, Nikolaj could remember traveling with his people; going into battles, sailing the seas, the occasional heading into a port town to trade. It had been in one of the port towns in Finland's lands that he had met Eduard.
The weather had been nice that day, the sun had been shining bringing rays of heat down. Nikolaj had been talking to the leader of the village, wondering where Tino was. He had been told that a foreigner from the south had come to town, taking Tino to the forests for a fortnight.
Though Tino’s lands were not yet his at the time, Nikolaj still spent an inordinate amount of time bossing the other nation around and the idea that Tino had taken off for a fortnight without warning had caused a bit of anger to rise -- he could remember, with shame, the anger he had felt as a younger nation, that, thankfully as time had gone on, had calmed down. At the time though all he knew was that Tino, the one nation who listened as he bitched about Sweden, had disappeared.
Of course, right as he was about to threaten the man, he could hear Tino’s laughter ringing throughout the air.
(If Nikolaj was completely honest with himself, back when he was still a young nation and his people had yet to become the rulers of the North, he had a bit of a crush on Finland.)
He had left the man with nothing more than a glare and an unspoken threat and wandered around until he found Tino jumping into the water away from where the boats docked. In the water, he spotted another boy in the water and his eyes had widened.
“Oled liiga väsinud,” The melodic words caught his attention and he had stopped in his footsteps, heart beating so loudly in his ears that he missed the last bit of what was being said before loud laughter filled the air.
There were many myths that his people held that spoke of water creatures and for a moment Nikolaj could believe that the boy in the water was a nikke, coming to steal Tino from his people, but the more he stared, the more he felt like he was the one being lured into the ocean.
“Tanska!” Tino waved from his spot in the water, drawing his attention away from the other blond boy in the water. Quick words of Tino’s own language - melodic as well, but not quite the same as the foreigners’ - and the most happy nation he had ever met was swimming towards him. “I wish you had written, me and Maa would’ve taken you with us to the forests!”
Maa? Nikolaj lifted an eyebrow. That wasn’t particularly a name he had ever heard of. It showed on his face and the boy shook his head.
“I’m not taking the name Johannes keeps trying to give me,” he explained, his voice just as melodic as the words he had been speaking earlier. “I refuse.”
Tino shook his head, “You should be careful, he’s gaining more land and power, soon you might have to go to war with him.”
Maa shrugged, the water rippling around him as he swam backwards slightly, “My people will win,” he said, his voice confident despite the look that Tino was giving him. “Is Tanska going to come in the water?”
Tino frowned for a moment before nodding his head, “You should join us, the weather has been so good for swimming.”
Now, so many years later, Nikolaj pulled himself from the past as he felt a hand brushing through his hair. Lifted his head, he looked up at the sea green eyes of his lover. “I just might kiss you,” he whispered and Eduard laughed lightly.
“No, no, not you sir,” he said in the phone, shaking his head. “I’ll be sure to get some paperwork done while he’s here. Thank you. Yes, of course, thank you.”
“No seriously,” Nikolaj said, wrapping his dripping arms around Eduard’s waist. “I really might, just keep speaking.”
“Of course,” Eduard moved slightly, dropping his phone on the grass next to him. “My bosses are going to think something inappropriate is going on.”
He laughed, moving back slightly, dragging a fully clothed Eduard with him. “Well let’s not disappoint them then,” he said as the other flailed in a desperate, but ultimately futile attempt to not fall in.
“Taani!”
                                                      __________
Taani = Denmark in Estonian. Nikke = ancient Scandinavia/Danish water spirit. Is a shapeshift. Often male. Lures people to water. Tanska = Denmark in Finnish. Maa = estonian. Land/ground/earth. I feel like at the time he wouldn't take a human name, instead just go by Estonian words. Oled liiga väsinud = you are tired, or again, should, because google translate is as reliable as politicians.
Last bit last, nikolaj’s thing about tino’s language not being as melodic, just him thinking that because he’s gotten used to hearing it so often while not having heard estonian a lot. personally the same happened to me after a while with french. so pretty at first, now i don’t blink when i hear it.

Prompt: 7. “No, and that’s final.” Fandom: Hetalia. Characters: aph lith.uania. aph pol.and. Pairing(s): lietpol. Warnings: human au. Summary: taurys’ boyfriend brings home two orphans.
→
Taurys felt like he had done enough good to outweigh the bad in his life. He gave to those less fortunate - not that he wasn’t pretty bad off himself - and volunteered his time whenever he could. He helped his elders cross the street, watched after kids when it looked like they were alone in public, and protected his best friend-slash-boyfriend from trouble.
But this…
This was pushing his limit.
Giving a smile to the obvious orphans, he dragged Feliks towards the small kitchen of their apartment and began to whisper, “What the hell is this?” he asked as he gave him a glare.
“Taurys, you won’t believe the day I had,” Feliks started, dramatic as always. “So I was walking from the park to the store, y’know like you, like to me to do, and you won’t believe it, but these two cuties were just like sleeping in a bush, and you know, like, how much I adore kids.”
Arms crossing over his chest, he interrupted him. “No,” Taurys said, his voice stern as he did so. Already he knew what it was that Feliks was going towards. “Absolutely not.”
Feliks gave him a small look and then raised his voice slightly, “Why don’t you two go check out the guest bedroom, it’s right down the hall.” The two nodded and ushered themselves out of the small space, closing the bedroom door behind them.
“Feliks, no, and that’s final.”
“Taurys, they were like, sleeping in a bush.” Feliks shook his head, scoffing as he did so, crossing his own arms as well. “I’m not not taking them in. They need a place to stay, it’s going to get colder-”
“They need to go to an orphanage-”
“Those don’t exist anymore, do they?”
“Or foster care, whatever it’s called nowadays!” Taurys said, shaking his head at his boyfriend’s interruption. “We can’t just take them, that’s akin to kidnapping!”
Feliks gave him a look, “No,” he said in a matter-of-fact tone, “It’s only kidnapping if they have a family and they didn’t, but now they do!”
Taurys took a deep breath. He felt his brain melting; he knew that Feliks was often in his own world - it was what drew him to the other - but this, well this, this was too much. “That’s not how it works at all,” he said forcefully. Breathing out, he tried to make sense of everything.
“Taurys,” Feliks said softly, causing the other to look up at him with narrowed eyes. On his face was an expression that Taurys had never seen him wear. Some mix between contrition and determination. “I know that’s not, like how it works, but, like, these are kids and they don’t have anywhere to go. Like, what else am I supposed to do?”
With a sigh, Taurys felt himself deflate. As much as he wanted to argue, to force Feliks in agreeing with him that the best thing they could do would be to send the kids to the foster care system, he found it hard. “They can stay for the week, but-”
Feliks jumped him, wrapping his arms around him and kissing him on the lips, full force. “Thank you!” he said as he left the kitchen, walking to the bedroom where he had sent those two kids.
It was going to be longer than a week, Taurys was sure of that.
____ Notes: - Yes the two kids sleeping in a bush were the other two Baltics. Why were they sleeping in a bush? Who knows. - Feliks’ speech is actually very similar to how I speak sometimes so to make it very accurate, I wrote it normally and then read it out loud, adding the word ‘like’ where I naturally did. - I’m posting via mobile so if theres any problems with formatting, its entirely the apps fault and I’ll fix it when/if I can since I’m going to be mobile for a bit.

Prompt: 1. “It will be fun, trust me.” Fandom:Hetalia. Characters: aph e.stonia. aph l.atvia.  Warnings/Tags: Interchangeable human/nation names used. Pairings: None. Summary: A conversation on the way to a haunted house.
A/N: So I’m sorta-but-not-really-but-kinda participating in fi.ctober 2k19, slightly. it’s less official because i’m terrified if i make it official and i don’t complete it, i’ll just be so disappointed with myself so i’m not tagging any of that. it’s just for you guys and myself. anyway, likes, reblogs, tell me what you think. all mistakes are my own.
Raivis shook as he followed Eduard up the street, “I’m not sure I want to go to a haunted house,” he said, pulling his sweater closer to him.
It was mildly cold in New York, where the rest of the nations had convened to get ready for Mr. America’s Halloween party that was thrown every year. Normally most nations waited to get together until a few days before any major holiday – sometimes even waiting until they had only enough time to take the plane to wherever they needed to go – but this year, Mr. America had decided to host them all for the entire month of October.
It was causing some trouble. Namely, most people had fallen bored after seeing as much of New York City as they cared for. Raivis had let himself be dragged around to all the sites that Eduard had trouble seeing during official meetings.
“Raivis--” Eduard held the ‘a’ until the slightly younger looking nation shot him a look. “A haunted house is exactly what we need. We’ll get some spooks and then by the time it’s time for Mr. America’s Halloween party – which I heard from Tino, who heard from Rootsi, who heard from Taani that it’s going to be held in a real haunted location – you won’t be scared!”
The nation of Latvia held back a sigh. There was far too many ‘heard froms’ not enough actual information. “But haunted houses are jump-scare based!” Everyone got scared when some stranger jumped out of nowhere and yelled at them. It was common sense.
“It’ll be fun,” Eduard said, waving off his worries, “trust me!”
Or well, with a side eye, it was common sense.“I do trust you,” Raivis began, “But-”
Eduard paused in his steps, turning to face him, “If you really, really don’t want to go, then we can instead go to the library or a movie, but I really think this will be fun.”
Raivis frowned. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to go, it was just that he wasn’t sure he, y’know, wanted to go. “Where’s Taurys?” He asked instead, ignoring the droll look the other gave him.
“Taurys is going with Feliks to find a Halloween costume,” he answered, shaking his head as he did so. “You’d think he’d already have one when he opted to come to a Halloween party.
There went the only way out of going, Raivis thought as he nodded his head, “Well then I guess I don’t mind going,” he said after a moment. “Though I think you’re far too excited about getting jump-scared.”
Eduard smiled brightly. “I love scary things,” he replied, grabbing Raivis’ wrist, yanking the handmade sweater slightly. Raivis glared at the hand slightly. He quite liked the sweater and the way Eduard was pulling him, the elasticity would be harmed. “Not as much as Tino, mind you, but there’s something about Halloween that reminds me of the good old days when I’d walk around amongst my people and we’d worship nature and the gods and--”
“So like last week?” Raivis rolled his eyes. The way Estonia went on about magic and nature and the old gods and the forest witches and the other weird things to come out of his country left Raivis’ head swimming with useless information. “Aren’t there enough crossroads to summon the devil here?”
Eduard forced out a breath. “You have six toes and belong in a zoo,” he muttered under his breath before adding louder, “You can’t just summon the devil at any old crossroads and you know my mythology isn’t the only one that’s weird.”
“My mythology is fine,” Raivis argued, all fear of the haunted house erased, “You believe in kleptomaniac sticks coming to life.”
“Kratts aren’t kleptomaniac sticks brought to life.” Eduard’s face went bright red, letting go of Raivis as he did so. “They’re - well - you know what, I’m not going to be judged by someone who believes that the souls of dead children cause sleep paralysis.”
“It’s a thing!” Raivis shook his head. “You are just uncultured.”
“This coming from someone with six toes.” Eduard scoffed, rolling his eyes as he did so. “I think I’ll take being uncultured over having six toes.”
“I do not have six toes!” Raivis frowned, “I will take my boot off and show you my normal toes right now if you don’t take that back.”
“If you do that then we’ll miss the haunted house,” Eduard said, pulling out his phone. “It’s bad enough the New York subway runs on magical invented time, we don’t need to add extra minutes to you fumbling with your shoes.”
“Well then take it back,” Raivis said, cheeks burning slightly. Now that he was flushed from annoyance, he was able to notice that it was a mite colder than he thought it was originally. “And aren’t you cold? You aren’t even wearing a sweater.”
“I’m not taking it back: you have six toes, no manners, and you’re myths are weird--” He paused and smiled slightly, “I’m not cold either because I made sure to wear that really warm undershirt that Taurys made for me - unlike you.”
Raivis groaned, “I completely forgot about that!” The undershirt was, Raivis assumed, was blessed or something because no matter how cold it go, it never stopped keeping him warm - not even last Christmas where Mr. Russia forced everyone to go to his home to celebrate it. Turning his eyes to glare at Eduard, he said, “You know, if you told me you were going to be dragging me out of the hotel, I would’ve worn it.”
“Well what did you think we were doing when I said I wanted to go somewhere?” Eduard asked, confusion on his face.
“Tino’s room? The sauna room? The rooftop bar?” Raivis could go on and on about the different places he expected. “You could’ve decided to go back to Time Square to figure out if you really hate it as much as you said you do when we first got here.”
“No.” Eduard shook his head, “I really hate it. Too many people and so many of them trying to talk to you or interact with you or -- I don’t know any of them, why would I do any of that?”
And Taurys called him antisocial when he refused to leave after getting hooked onto a new book series.
“And Time Square is still outside.” Eduard added as he pulled Raivis down the steps to the subway platform.
Raivis made a face. Stupid not-brothers and their stupid ideas. Stupid haunted houses.
                                                            ------
Notes: Rootsi = Swe.den Taani = Den.mark Kratts are literally kleptomaniac sticks brought to life, thank you very much, watch November if you don’t believe me. Also don’t sell your soul and/or fake sell your soul to a devil at the crossroads in a forest.  The souls of dead children giving you sleep paralysis is a thing I read on some Lat.vian website, google translate might’ve lied to me, so *shrugs* tell me if I’m wrong.  Saying that Lat.vians have six toes is a thing that Eston.ians do for some reason. I don’t see how that’s an insult, but it’s a thing. Also, I’m a mainland New Yorker, so like my understanding of NYC falls are limited to the one time I went there, my mother’s recollections of the time she was there, and weather maps. Where I live, it’s currently 45°F ( 7°C) but feels colder so I’m cold. Last thing, Times Square sucks. All my family agrees. It’s just touristy and boring and there’s way too many people trying to get your attention, or talk to you, or sell you something, or harass you, and I don’t like it. It was fine for the first five minutes I was there then I grew to hate it. So should anyone ever go there, stay for an hour at most, not a whole day.

                                                     _________
"I'm sorry," Ema said softly, giving the other girl a small smile. "I know you didn't ask for this."
Chiara shook her head, "There's worse things to be doing," she said. And really, pretending to be Ema's girlfriend to a party with the other's parents was truly not the worst thing she could be doing this weekend. Watching her little sister and her girlfriend moon over each other was up there.
Ema brightened. "Well thank you anyway." She sighed as she bent slightly to get closer to the hall mirror, "I love my parents-"
The rest went unsaid.
"I get it." Last fall, when she had been heading back home, she had gotten Ema to come home with her for the same reason. Of course, she hadn't told the other that her family thought they were dating.
Ema hummed brightly, running a hand through the ends of her hair, before saying, "Okay, lets go, we've got a long drive and I still have to explain my parent's relationship to you."
Chiara screwed up her face, "What does that mean?" She asked.
"Well I have ema, which is my mom and I mostly call her aïtah since she let isa, my dad, name me while she was unconscious, and after them two is édesapa, which is," Ema paused, frowning slightly, "Aïtah and isa's boyfriend."
Chiara laughed after a moment. "My Nonno is actually my dad and you're over here acting like your parents being poly is a weird thing."
"It is!" Ema argued, "And so is your Nonno."
                                                     _________
Notes:
ema = est.onian. means mom.  aïtah = fin.nish. means mom.  isa = est.onian. means dad.  édesapa = hung.arian. means father.  nonno = ital.ian. means grandfather.
all translations come from google translate. remember it’s not always truthful. if anything is wrong, please be nice and tell me. also yes, i’ve constantly used ema for nyo!esto.nia and yes it does mean mom. she’s the mother of her people okay.
Ema = Nyo!Est.onia Chiara = Nyo!South Ita.ly

Prompt: 2. “Just follow me, I know the area.” Fandom: Hetalia Characters: APH Ame.rica. APH Est.onia. APH Lat.via. APH Lithu.ania.  Pairing: AmeLiet. Warnings/Tags: Interchangeable human/nations name used. Summary: Ame.rica gets lost with the Ba.ltics.
A/N: it got shippy and i didn’t realize it was going to get shippy but it did so it’s only mild, because unless the fic is centered around it, i don’t really get shippy but look, it’s cute. actually, i really like this ficlet. it’s so fun. also it’s kinda based around a road trip moment that i had when i was younger - around 16 which was almost ten years ago yikes. anyway, likes, reblogs, and replies are the best way to tell me you liked it and want more.
->
“Just follow me,” Alfred said as he pushed the map from Lithuania’s hand to the ground, “It’s my own country, I know the area.”
Lithuania hummed lightly, eyes darting towards the other two nations with them. Both Eduard and Raivis gave him twin looks of disbelief and worry, but he shrugged it off. “Of course,” he said softly as he moved to pick up the paper and fold it up.
“This is murdering people territory,” Eduard whispered sharply as he focused on refolding the map.
Lithuania shook his head, “It’s the countryside - you have a countryside.”
“I also have internet everywhere, so that way if my phone decides not to work, I can email someone,” Eduard shot, crossing his arms. “None of our phones have bars, I have no wifi, he’s going to lead us straight into murder country.”
“No he’s not,” Lithuania assured, stuffing the map into his pocket. “It’s his home."
"Then why did he look confused when you pointed out we were lost?” Raivis asked under his breath, side-eyeing Alfred.
For that, he had no answer. When Alfred had said he wanted to join them on their trip to a place that was holding a Halloween hayride, Lithuania had agreed, finding himself getting ready in his best outfit and ignoring the looks he was given by both Raivis and Eduard. “Look-” he started, cut off immediately by Eduard.
“Please don’t overlook his flaws because you like him,” he hissed, his voice soft despite the words. “I don’t want to be murdered because you decided to trust a man who could get lost in a house with one room."
"Look,” Lithuania started again, cut off once more, though this time by Raivis.
“Oh heaven’s above, we’re the side characters in their romance,” he moaned, face a wreck. “We’re going to be forgotten and lost forever like side characters in my romance novels."
"No you aren’t,” Lithuania said, shaking his head. Now with all their dramatics, he wondered why he wanted to go anywhere with them. Eduard opened his mouth but Lithuania shot him a look, “Alfred isn’t always the most - we’re going to be fine. This is Alfred’s country, he knows his way around it.”
He was sure of it.
“Okay,” Alfred said, inserting himself into their little half-circle. “Last time I was around here was like three years ago, but to go to the haunted hayride place-"
"It’s haunted?!” Raivis gasped, glaring at all three of them.
“This is why we didn’t tell you,” Eduard muttered but Alfred shook his head, smiling brightly.
“Don’t worry, while they’re doing the scary things, me and you can go through the corn maze - it’s not scary but really fun so we’ll have fun.”
Lithuania watched as Raivis smiled and nodded, worry slowly leaving his stance. He knew better than to take Raivis somewhere they’d be scared, but Eduard had somehow convinced him. “I’m sorry, Raivis,” he said, “but a cornfield still sounds fun.”
“There’s also bobbing for apples-"
"That’s sharing saliva with others so try not to do that,” Eduard muttered before nodding, “I picked this one because there’s a lot to do if you don’t like scary things."
"Well, I guess,” Raivis replied. “But we’re still lost."
Alfred shook his head, "I’m not a dolt that can get lost in my own country, dude,” he said, grabbing Lithuania by the shoulders, “We head west and we’ll be there in ten minutes."
With both Raivis and Eduard heading back to the rental car, Lithuania asked, "You asked the owner of this place, didn’t you?"
"It’s been three years, Taurys,” Alfred mumbled, turning bright red, “Three years."
Lithuania shook his head, his own cheeks red, "Well thanks,” he said, giving the other nation a kiss on the cheek before moving to the driver’s side. “I’m driving."
"Wait, what?” Alfred snapped his head up, frowning slightly. “Taurys! You said I could drive."
"You got us lost.”
“We went off the beaten path, it’s fun,” Alfred grumbled as he moved towards the passenger’s side, “It’s spontaneous."
"Its three hours of driving around and watching you squint at the signs we passed by,” Lithuania pointed out. Shaking his head, he added, “If you promise not to be spontaneous again, you can drive us home.”
“Promise,” Alfred said brightly.

Linda frowned as she stopped in the woods, listening as the trees talked silently amongst themselves. They were softer today then they had been the day previous, but then again, she was pregnant yet again and that had always led to the soft voices of her land to quiet.
“You’re going to die if you get pregnant again,” Yao had told her the last time she had seen him. At the time, she had been on her second pregnancy and she had shaken her head at the idea of her dying - her people were still strong; her language flourished. Now though.
Now her stomach distended with a fifth child growing inside, her people were near silent to her, and her children were taking place of her in her people’s lives. Vytautas had told her that their youngest child - not the one growing inside her - had taken his place as the representative of Lithuania.
“I no longer get hurt when they do,” he had whispered to her one night last month.
It was why she had sent for Yao. “I might be losing my nationhood, but I can still feel when you are on my land.“
Yao sat in the tree near her. “You’re pregnant again, Linda,” he said, a frown etched on his face.
“I’m going to die, aren’t I?” She turned to face him, hand cradling her stomach. “The labor of mine and Vytautas’ love is killing me, is it not?”
“Now? Now you listen to me, really?” Yao jumped from the tree, landing softly. “It is too late to undo what you have done."
"I would never,” she hissed, turning from him slightly. “These are my children."
"Your children have usurped your place as a nation and will be the cause of your death,” he deadpanned. “They have taken the place of what was supposed to rise from your death and are unnatural."
"They have been made with love and my people will care for them,” she promised, a small smile on her face. “Rome has made children, why should I not?"
Rome, she knew though, had made children with humans, not another nation, and as such, they held no nationhood and threatened not his existence like her own has. The look on Yao’s face spoke the same understanding.
"Linda.” Yao’s voice was laced with worry, the slight smugness of being right wearing off as their conversation lasted.
She shook her head, “If I am to die, then that is what was written for me in the stars. Nothing is forever, not even us."
"You might’ve been,” Yao said softly, his face filled with mourning. The way the others acted around them, especially after their first child was born, one would’ve believed they had been dead for years. “Vytautas would’ve been."
Linda looked up, shock and worry crossing her face. As much as she trusted the Asian man, the idea of anyone knowing that Vytautas was injured - "Who told you?” she asked sharply - only she should’ve known about her husband’s lack of nationhood.
“Maygar was talking about patching him up,” he answered, moving forward to lay an arm on her. “We will remember you and I promise that for as long as I can, I will be friendly with your children personally."
Friendly was the best he - and any other nation - could promise. The whims of their people, their leaders, left them often aching from severed friendships. Linda nodded and thanked him, watching as he left the forest.
She truly should’ve listened, she thought as she rubbed her stomach. If she died after giving birth, her children would be left without a parent to raise them. Though, Linda strained her ears to listen to the rustling of the leaves, she doubted she still had long, she hoped she was wrong.
"Äiti!” The voice of her middle child called, “Äiti, veil sairastui!"
A smile grew across her face, despite the worrying words,"Coming darling!” she called back, it was too late to mourn her life, but she could prepare them for their new ones

Notes:
if the full story never sees a day of light, i won’t mind, because i’ve spent about 5+ years doing research, writing down ideas, redoing research, fixing what i wrote down, more research, turning to my sister to tell me to stop, research, writing, and so on and so forth to get even a medicorm of this shit down and i’m still not done. i won’t be done until i’ve perfected it but that’s not going to be possible because we don’t know enough of about the beginning of the world. so yeah. anyway. enough of about that.
Linda = Mama Livonia. Is actually more of the representative of the formation of the Finno-Ugric language group. I fully stand by the fact that once upon a time, there were language representatives (story wise).
Vytautas - Old Lithu.ania.
Äiti! Äiti, veil sairastui!  = supposedly Finnish, but Google translate can be a liar. It basically means "mom, brother is/got sick”. Again, this is all hearsay because there's not 100% reliable translation site.
Magyar = Hungary’s caretaker in the series; here his partner of both Old Lith and Mama Liv. He’s very friendly though also a big badass.
Other: In my personal headcanon world, if a nation gets pregnant via human/impregnates a human, the child is going to be mostly human - a slightly longer/healthier lifespan is the only benefit. A nation having a child with another nation is surely to give a representative; again this is all my own personal headcanon, please remember that. My headcanons are also ever changing as I continue to work on them.
