i think i went rly hard in august. august was really a turning point for me this year too i think, so maybe my art reflected that haha, but anyhow. i really love these

everyone and their mom has done a religious jakurai art, but i wanted to do one too... the detail i rly like is the blood on his hands. because i like to headcanon that jakurai has vitiligo on his hands. i like how i incorporated that hc in this without making it too busy lol

I'VE BEEN MEANING TO DO AN IBERIA AU FOR JAKUDO FOR SO LONG... probably as long as the koibito AU for hifugen, but i just haven't been able to put it into words... i'm glad i could at least do a bit of this year, and i hope one day i can manage the whole concept!! also this idea's been in my head for so long that arb managed to reveal demon designs for both jakurai and doppo, sparing me the effort of designing them myself FSJKJKKJH

wah... i think my artist wrapped really covers what i have to say! quantity-wise, i'm not too happy with how much i made... it can't really be helped considering how busy and tiresome it's been this year, and i really wish i could say i can do more next year, but it's likely i'll be posting less and less in the future TwT but as much as possible, i'd still like to share my work! i think this might be my time to start focusing on original stuff, but i still wanna do fandom related stuff because there's still a lot of ideas and concepts i wanna see realized!! also i just love my fandom blorbos a lot lol, so i'll find ways to do things for them >w<

quality-wise though, i think i'm pretty pleased! last year i got csp, so i was still figuring it out, but now i think i got a better hang of it! and that means my art looks more confident i think haha. of course, there's still a lot of room for improvement, but it's nice that i can look at my stuff and go "yeah i like this!" i'm excited to see where my artistic journey goes from here!!

Some Nights - ok so first weeks challenge. i feel like chris would just want them to all collab together on one huge group performance. kinda like on the first day of school when they make you do the ‘get to know you’ tests. idk exactly who would sing what parts tho bc there are so many so let your imagination run wild !!

Hand crushed by a mallet - ok. OKYAY. im a home of sexual. but this is a Cody, Trent, Tyler, Harold and Izzy song. Cody is on vocals (especially the rap in this version shdofsgjsk), Trent is on guitar and some vocals (does some back and forth with him during the rap), Tyler is on drums (and does that one tiny background screamy bit towards the end), Izzy and Harold are joined up on creating the background track and DJing the whole thing. the distortion/choppy part at the end is izzy LIVE going ape on the audio level sliders. its one of the most energetic performances of the whole series and surprises everyone including the group themselves

Misery Business - Duncan on vocals and guitar, Geoff on drums, Trent also on guitar and maybe some backup vocals. you all know i chose that bc i love associating mgk with duncan but. i rly like this idea actually ;;

Paparazzi - ezekiel. idk who the fuck else except maybe justin bc he’d dance that shit to death. i will not apologize thats Him and its fire but you may write and send any formal complaints to my po box. ill roll a blunt with them,

Pom Pom - Lindsay, Heather, Sadie+Katie, and Izzy. Lindsay and Heather are on vocals, sharing the chorus and each getting a solo verse, and ofc izzy does the weird rap part towards the end, and most of the background track. they all thought they were stuck with izzy but izzy is stuck with these preps. Sadie and Katie are on backup vocals, but their role in this one is mostly dancing and adding ✨ stage presence. 

Maps - Trent is on the guitar and male vocals while Courtney is on the female vocals (the ~top two performers~ gotta have a song together eventually right), DJ on drums, Bridgette on piano. Heather, Lindsay, Justin, and Leshawna are dancers bc lbr the dance from the video is pretty good for a group number

CREEPER? AW MAN - ok this one. is kind of a joke but wouldnt it be rly hilarious if cody, ezekiel, and harold did this one mostly for fun and the whole second part with the existential breakdown was just. used with on stage satire to make fun of chris for being old or smth. like would they suffer that week, yes, would it be worth it, Y E S,

the urquharts have like... this thing of naming themselves after greek mythological figures, but like, exclusively ones with a tragic ending

an actual conversation cadfael & deianeira probably had abt naming genie: cadfael: how about ariadne— deianeira: too happy of an ending cadfael: she got left behind on an island by the man she betrayed her family for deianeira: what’s your point

anyway the rowles go for Welsh™ names usually but cadfael’s whole generation sorta just went fuck that and took other naming traditions, resulting in lo and wes having largely normal names, and then genie’s branch deciding to take her mother’s naming traditions (weird as they may be) & also there’s another branch that married a cornish pureblood and went exclusively w hectic cornish names

probably an only child, though it’s possible genie’s mother is her father’s second wife, and there could be an older half brother (would probably need to be younger than lo, though, who’s 24, and definitely younger than wes, 26) running around, but he’d need to be #Committed to the DE life —- we already have one rowle risking it all as a double agent, and this family (esp genie’s branch) is Too Extra™ to have multiple

genie is spoilt, petty, vindictive and has... pretty much no moral qualms. she’s generous, though, with her friends, and fiercely loyal to her family. 

when she was younger, she had a... rebellious streak might be too generous a term, because no part of her ever felt any inclination to contend with her privileged position, but there was a certain freedom to her position in the family, the youngest of the cousins and a girl —- whereas all eyes were on wes, the heir, the truth, genie was allowed to run a little more wild. nothing not befitting a rowle, of course, for that would not do, but she had more freedom to act as she pleased, to say whatever she liked, to keep her running muttered commentary going during the galas, to suggest wicked plots for her own amusement. genie rowle was always unconcerned with what was fair or right, but she was fun and clever and wicked funny, and was willing to put all her devilish tactics to the good use of entertaining a friend when the fancy took her. children are often vaguely terrible, and these privileged purebloods more than most —- genie was far from an exception, and when she was your friend, she was easy to love for it

i. name: listen fernand is a french name so i indulged myself on the names SALDFK florian is the oldest son & his younger sister is eléonore. ( or eleonore idc pronounce / type it the way you want to LFKLAFK,, ) mila keeps waking up in the middle of the night to bother fernand with the names she just found & fernand is like ‘’silence is beauty pls just sleep honey’’ florian’s meaning is simply flower so i think mila came up with the name bc yall know how she is with her flowers but fernand got eléonore.

iii. general appearance: both florian & eléonore have fernand’s silver / platinum hair & mila couldn’t be happier bc she LOOOVES the color to DEATH!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻 ( also **genetics** i don’t think dragon’s stuff prioritize over human traits rip ) eléonore has stupidly long hair like mila that she often braids or keeps in a ponytail. anyways florian has fernand’s brown eyes but honestly his eyes are all about his mother’s they have the same dreamy / sleepy look. eléonore has mila’s green golden - ish eyes. florian is overall really balanced when it comes to who he resembles the most, while eléonore looks a little too much like fernand. both are taller than dragon mum, ( florian is 6′2′’ & eléonore 5′7′’ ) which is rly easy to achieve bc she’s rly smol ( 5′3′’ )… being half - dragons they lack the ‘‘special’’ features of said dragons so they blend well with humans unlike mila ALSO!! they both have fernand’s killer jaw / eyebrows bless!!!!

iv. personality: florian is more the quiet observant type, really resembles mila abt that quiet elegant air she exudes, but he still knows how to have a good time. he’s not rly shy, just not the talkative type but he doesn’t mind socializing. while eléonore is all prim & proper but actually?? she has no chill whatsoever & she will fight Every Last One Of You including herself. she’s overall a very sweet person tho but when something doesn’t please her, You Will Know. i can’t rly imagine mila being this ‘‘authority figure’’ bc she’s very very loving so it’s all up to fernand to keep this family together tbh. florian is relatively calm so he was easy to watch over when he was younger & he’s not rly interested in bumping heads with his father, but every time eléonore gets scolded sHE JUST?? gOES THAT SPONGEBOB MEME AT HIM & IT IRRITATES FERNAND TO NO END. ‘’eleonore you cannot do that’’ ‘’ELeOnOrE U cAn’T dO tHaT’’ eléonore is dada’s girl but at the same time they honestly want to Punch each other in The Throat when they argue….. there isn’t much that bothers florian until eléonore decides to call him out on something just for the sake of provoking him & IT WORKS & then he’s just like ‘‘lol do u wanna go’’ & then there’s no mercy between the two but else they’re REALLY on good terms & talk / support each other A Lot!!!! basically this is eléonore ‘’ >:T ‘’ while florian is discreetly like ‘’ …….. >:) ‘’ 

v. special talents: well half - blooded dragons come with all the nice perks of being a dragon, meaning they can transform, awfully slow aging process & the list goes on. there are lots of downside tho given to how mila seems to know nothing abt dragonstones meaning they probably have a tiny difficult time with keeping their ‘’destructive nature’’ in check. ( fernand talks to clive & he’s like ‘’i can’t believe my babies rawr at me did ur kids ever did that‘’ clive is like wh ) florian probably hurt fernand once as a kid & as a result probably disciplined himself to be calmer in general in fear it might happen again & honestly? he dodges dragon form like The Plague™ he doesn’t like it much. they both know how to ride a horse bc /hands gesture at fernand/ & know how to handle a sword, but eléonore is awesome with a lance too. florian is rly good at gardening ( with his mum ) & loves all kinds of puzzles & PLAY CHESS, while eléonore rly prefers to do things that is more ‘’exciting’’ like dancing & probably learned how to play an instrument. eléonore loved to dance with her father when she was rly young!!!!! mila was happy to watch. i guess they still do it from time to time!

vi. who they like better: tHEY LIKE THEIR PARENTS EQUALLY?? mila is rly chill in general, if she isn’t following fernand around or w/e he does she’s a Stay At Home dragon. while florian is a rly chill dude & likes the same stuff as his mother, he prefers following his dad & same goes for eléonore. they just help him in whatever he does. it probably is bc they will both outlive their father by like 12389127389 years while mila ain’t dying anytime soon so they kinda always want to be with him ASLKDA

vii. who they take after more: HONESTLY the more i write this the more i’m like….. they take after both a lot, tho at first glance u rly think that florian is all mila’s elegant attitude & u think he’s shy bc he’s quiet but he rly isnt shy but he’s lowkey? mischievous, & rude when provoked, a lot like fernand. honestly they both like to call out ppl just like fernand they can’t keep their thoughts quiet. florian is more tame abt it tho. i’d say florian takes more after mila, ( he’s generally peace seeking & doesnt rly butt heads with others he’s v understanding ) but still is v influenced by fernand, while eléonore is pretty much a sassy brat version of fernand & doesn’t mind getting in conflicts if smth goes against what she thinks / says & her righteousness. she’s v knightly. i talk a lot about their flaws but they’re good ppl with good intentions & they love their family!!!

viii. personal headcanon: after fernand’s inevitable death, they probably leave valentia with mila leading them back to her kin given she doesn’t rly want to suffer the same end as duma, since mental degradation is a fate that awaits all dragons. florian & eléonore now live on with dragonstones & after a good chunk of years with her children & taking care of them, mila eventually leaves & goes into hiding to indulge herself in a long deep sleep, & doesn’t plan on waking up. she never stopped thinking about fernand after he died ( wo w sorry to have ended this on a grim note ASFLKFDS )

i guess what i like about aau/my program is gonna be diff from other ppl… and majors treat you v differently here … like animation, vis dev, and illustration seem like they would be in the same vein but they have totally different requirements, workloads, atmosphere etc

things i like:

personally there are some classes that legit changed my life and my entire view on art and myself .. like ive been extremely humbled compared to who i was in 1st year

most profs i’ve had are rly sweet ppl that genuinely wanna help you but idk if that’s specific to my major/focus (illustration - comics)

with stuff like the annual spring show and all the connections the school has, if you’re reALLY good at the time you’re about to graduate you can prob land a sweet gig(some rly awesome graduates in recent years work at disney, cartoon network, marvel, dc, etc now but pls note this is just a fraction of graduates)

things i don’t rly like:

not every prof does this but a lot of profs i’ve had are big into the mindset that it’s glorious to overwork to death for your art/cut ‘useless’ ppl out of your life etc (some profs aren’t into this at all but yeah a lot of profs do tho)

just gonna say this outright … in some classes i didn’t learn shit and wasn’t into it lmao

oh yeah there’s an 80% dropout rate or at least that’s what it was when i first came here LMAO. the program is also 5.5 years!!! not the standard 4 and idk why they don’t tell you this more clearly :^)))

this isn’t rly a thing i like nor dislike but i think prospective students should know that the grading system is real tough, at least in my major. if you do a pretty good assignment you get a C, A means professional level, and D means fail. so it’s not something you can cruise by in with last-minute work, at least in my major (i think in other majors they’re more lax about it)

^those things are about the actual classes but w stuff like facilities it’s like alright? just little things like if you’re not an animation/gamedev student or don’t have a digital class you can’t use the cintiq/intuos labs without paying a fee, the meal plans are expensive and the cafe food isn’t rly good (also they’re overcrowded a lot of the time), dorms are shoddy and also expensive lmao … it’s a for-profit school in sf so this is just what it is

i can’t just say whether or not i’d recommend the school i think it depends on a ton of different factors bc ppl come from different walks of lifei have learned A LOT here but at the same time the amount of mental breakdowns i’ve had from financial strain and beating myself up are just incredibleee lmao ….. you also v likely will have to overwork … especially in my major at least. there’s assignments that i’m rly not joking i spend 40 hours per week on, so that my profs won’t yell at me. and there have been some finals weeks where i slept like 20 minutes per night for like 3-4 days in a row. i have a friend in my major who gets A’s in all her classes who said during finals one semester she’d wake up in the morning and have to throw up and then go straight to class bc she was so overworked??i mean i’m rly not trying to scare you but no one told me how things would be before i came here so i feel like i should tell ppl now that i know what it’s like …… you rly have to work that much sometimes just so that you can get a grade above C (it’s not like that for every class but some classes are v intense)

I FEEL LIKE I’M SAYING A LOT OF NEGATIVES AND MAKING IT SOUND LIKE HELL LMAO but i mean …. i!!! like i rly dO love how much i’ve learned here and all the amazing experiences i’ve had (like near epiphanies lmao) and i’ve met many priceless friends as well ….. everyday is still good for me and i’m grateful that i’m so privileged i can study here. but just pls be aware of some of the cons since not everything is sunshine and rainbows here
