This was probably one of the very first computer programs I ever encountered.

Back between 1988 to 1993 my family would drive from our home in South Bend all the way to Freeport to visit my Grandparents for Christmas. Something like a six hour drive in an old Dodge Caravan minivan, cramped with my parents and at first just my sister and by '93 my sister and two brothers.

My Granpda was a engineer for Honeywell Microswitch, he would brag about working on the switches that went on the Mercury orbiter. To say he was tech-literate, especially at that time, would be an understatement. I still went to him for Computer advice up unto 2013.

One of the things we would look forward to was him booting up his old Tandy and Dot-Matrix printer to let us little kiddies have fun with this. Certainly simple by modern standards but considering we didn't have a computer at home or even a game console until 1990 or so it impressed us. We'd spend hours looping the little "video" over an over again and wasting precious ink on printing nonsense on the little Christmas cards you could make with it.

Both he and my sister are gone now. He passed in 2015 and my sister just this May(2023). Those of us that remain will still be going to that old house in Freeport for Christmas. It won't be the same without them but I think we'll try to manage.
