What is the worst horror movie you've ever seen? Your tastes are broad enough that I am curious to see if there are any you just couldn't enjoy in any capacity. Thanks! 💋

Objectively? The worst film I've seen is Verotika but that's SO bad on every level that it's actually a lot of fun to watch with friends. The direction? AWFUL. The acting? AWFUL. The dialogue? AWFUL. Lots of fun though so it gets points for that.

Subjectively? There have been a tonne of movies that I've switched off half-way through/finished and then immediately forgotten and to be utterly forgotten is the worst possible sin in my humble opinion.

It is actually an accomplishment how bad these movies are. It is one of the few constants in the universe. You can use the fact that these films are bad to calibrate scientific instruments.

1) What is your favorite film of all time?

My gut instinct is Scream (1996); it's just such a classic, and it re-introduced me to horror movies! Plus, you can't beat Ghostface, I mean, c'mon.

2) What movie do you wish you could un-watch?

For sheer badness, either Verotika (2019), or I Saw the TV Glow (2024).

To un-watch it so I could experience it for the first time again, I'm thinking Lisa Frankenstein (2024) or the OG Candyman.

8) What’s your comfort film?

I have a few!! Napoleon Dynamite (2004) is my ultimate comfort film, as well as Major Payne (1995) and Jaws (1975).

9) Guilty pleasure movie?

10 Things I Hate About You (1999). I can't quite remember when I saw it, but I do know they showed it at school, and I crushed hard on Heath Ledger. It's still such a solid little movie!

40) A film you think everyone should see at least once

To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar (1995).

I fucking love this movie. It's hilarious, it's teachable, it's genuine, and the acting is freaking amazing. It's smart with its comedy, and it pulls no punches - nor does it punch down.

I was shocked when I watched it for the first time by how cleverly the filmmakers went about addressing sexual assault that drag queens (and the queer community at large) face, as well as harassment from cops, domestic abuse, and finding your value despite it all - and it humanized small towns! Small southern towns!! It's teaching, and it's hilarious and it's so, so heart-meltingly sweet.

I just wish everyone could see the brilliance of it.
