i genuinely think the reason the americans are so shocked by saltburn is bc they didn’t grow up watching skins

saltburn was such a fun movie to watch, and it hit quite a few nostalgia points honestly, like with Bloc Party (saw a review that said like “the horror of Bloc Party making it a period piece) let’s ignore that they were one of my top listened to artists last year, and the overall 2000s music/vibe going on

but also, some of the characters reminded me so much of characters in shows I watched as a tween/teen. Venetia made me think of Skins so much mostly Cassie and Effie that it was impossible for me not to be immediately fond of her. Ollie reminded me of Simon from Misfits of they had really doubled down on making him a Freak took me a sec to remember his actual name, was tempted to just put Barry (like the whole "I wanna piss on your tits debacle", and the killing the probation worker when it's revealed she's just using him, only to then keep her dead body in the freezer so she hadn't fully left) you're telling me that ISN'T reminiscent???

it just made the movie even more fun to watch cause of it.

idk, it was just a blast to watch, and I didn’t think it was THAT disturbing yknow? like, was it one of the top 10 most awkward experiences, watching it with the family? hell yeah. was it still a fan favorite? yeah
