REAL. My current favorite dragon in FR is a fucking MESS. But !! I usually compile a list of her most important traits and tell artists they're free to simplify details of her apparel and such gdjfjf. I've gotten all good results so far!

What I tell people: most important features are her Hornhelm, mane (can be fur or feathers), Rotclaw, three pairs of wings (main, Proto, and feathered wings from her skincent), and however much random tattered cloth you want.

Lots of folks end up also adding her Light Halo and/or her candles!

She has art in her bio too though, so there is additional reference. I think that is arguably the best thing you can do for a dragon with a complex design, is just to have good pre-existing visual reference, especially if you're altering the appearance of any apparel.

As an additional side-note, I LOVE your dragon omg. He's so slay. And for what it's worth he looks SO fun to draw. I personally would absolutely draw him for you 😭. He doesn't seem to have too terribly many details! Biggest points of detail would be the teeth (which in some art styles, including mine, is like a default thing that would probably be added in some capacity anyway), Shardhide (not too bad for folks who like drawing fur and spikes), hat, horns, gold bands (not that bad), pink Carousel apparel (this is gonna be the biggest potential dealbreaker for some folks), and the eye smoke. He's got some funky genes too, but those are like. Base price lmao. And then everything else is just smoke, and potentially that treasure pile, depending on if you want 'props' or a fancy background or anything. I would probably suffer with the treasure piles because I hate doing a lot of tiny, repetitive (but in-depth) detailing, but there are definitely folks who'd be up for it!

Tbh I want to buy art for my dragons so bad but they’re all terrible complicated uma annoying genes 10000 apparel monstrosities and I do not want to burden artists with drawing them is anyone else the same can I get a yeehaw

Oooo she’s cool! I love your art in her bio! It’s very pretty! As for the dragon herself, the Victor’s skull is definitely what makes this dragon. It shows so much personality. However I do feel like some of her apparel is a bit too busy, especially with all those halos layered over each other. Unless you were going for a chaotic energy with the layering? I also love the new space scene for her!

A space child! If I could steal this dragon I 100% would. Starcon on veils goes hard and plum is a GREAT color. I had no idea plum gave a blue gradient effect for constellation on veils. I’m in love with the look. And the accent doesn’t distract from the natural beauty of the dragon, but enhances it.

Omg a Jeff the Killer fandragon. I did not expect to see a creepypasta inspired dragon. You did a great job at making him look like the character! I even thought of Jeff the Killer before looking at his name or bio.

I appreciate a nice basic/basic dragon now and then! Cobalt smirch looks good with steel! I can also relate to tough breeding projects when you’re trying to get a nonexistent combo. I was working on my own rare color combo project with special eyes when the eye update happened too. Congrats on completing your boy!

Oh this is a fun looking dragon! I like how you’ve layered all the feathered apparel. This dragon is Extra Birb and I love them. I’ve never heard of the Seedeater creepypasta before but I do appreciate a neat creepy bird creature.

Alpijskija

A nice frosty dragon! They look nice and cozy for the winter in their arctic apparel. The steampunk wings and goggles were also a nice addition! I was honesyly surprised that their primary was oilslick because with the combo of their apparel and the white from piebald you can hardly see any of the oilslick on them! It’s a neat affect that makes them look more wintery!

Rubin

This lad has a fun ID! That’s a lot of 4s! I like how the bloodstone cascades match his berry opal. The purple birdskull goes surprisingly well with the helpful healer’s apparel.

Wysper

A spooky look! I LOVE the layering of the sanddune rags, bone crown and antlers! It gives this guy such a unique look. It’s extremely well done! The fuchsia ghost on top of black crystal is also such a good look I love contrasting bright colors on top of dark and ghost is one of the best genes to do that! Everything about how you’ve dressed him is very good, but the smokeswirl really ties everything together.

Ohen

This dragon is on fire! Ironic considering they’re an ice dragon. I love the effect of sunshine smoke over oilslick. I also like how well the apparel blends into the dragon. It’s subtle yet helps the dragon pop. The haunting apparel really help give this dragon that ‘on fire’ look. the accent is also simple but effective. The antlers from the accent gives them such a unique look!

Marjanka

Is that a WEED dragon? Highly illegal. I am reporting you to the mods. I’m joking, I’m joking. I enjoy the funny weed dragon.This is a perfect dragon for the Marva eyes and I’m loving the addition of all the plants and the mushrooms.

Cannot for the life of my tell if I like this or not. The goal of this was to make her look dark and foreboding, but the whole thing feels very. Bright. I probably should've made her face darker, but I put too much time and effort into the colors there to wanna change it too much. I probably went a liiiittle overboard with the flicked stars too, but ehhhhghhng it's fine. I put enough Big Stars to make it look right I think.

Anyway !!! This is the results of my painting session. I am happy with it, all things considered!

I'm also probably gonna have my mom scan it in on her printer so I can have a higher quality image for Velkurpeni's bio 😎

Small art dump of my babygirl Velkurpení. She's an eldritch god and is also very silly, and she has become a bit of a comfort character for me (despite the fact she's technically my own OC).

Also have a playlist I made for her because I'm proud of it.

To give a quick summary of the playlist, essentially she's just kindof out floating in the void, until she starts wondering about what other life exists. She finds Sornieth and reaches out to a few select dragons, who after a collective existential crisis, have an Arcane dragon send out a response. She comes in, and this little group becomes a bit of a cult devoted to worshiping her in return for her knowledge and experience existing since the dawn of time.

Velkurpení, as they've dubbed her, watches generation after generation of her little cult come and go, pondering how their lives go so fast, it's like they never existed at all. With each new generation though, they become less receptive to her. Less respectful. Finally, some of them insult her in a massive way, and Velkurpení is furious. In a fit of rage, she smites them all.

She realizes what she's done later, and she mourns.

At the end of it all, she's kindof faced her own sort of Lovecraftian horror. Her eyes have been opened to the tiny intricacies of the things that have happened around her, and she can't remove her knowledge and understanding of it, meaning she can't go back to the long chain of great existence she's used to. She is forever Changed and she must deal with that.

Also getting a lore commission from Disillusionist to better word all of her lore! I plan to create a nice formatted bio for her afterwards 😤

I have the Victor's Skull on her right now, which looks. Alright, haha. It's very bright. The Contestant's Skull is too warm toned though, so Victor's is a liiiittle better.

How she looks now vs her plans. The Hornhelm just fits better yk?

Either way! She's fine for now. Hornhelm can be tentative plans for the future lol

Pro-tip: don't scry your dragons with KS items because then you'll fall in love with how they look and throw yourself into the sea trying to obtain said items.

Sketch #1 (horizontal) is curious arrival, and is also the more 'biblically accurate' version of her. She's kindof noticing Earth for the first time and making her presence known.

Sketch #2 (vertical), she's pissed because of humanity's spite and is about to absolutely flame everybody. Also a lot more solidly defined (because she's been tainted by human perception ooughou symbolism).

Gonna be painting this in gouache. I may very well do both btw! Just. Tell me which one I should do first 😭
