May 8 | Prompt: Hobby
“You look horrendous.”
Sherlock’s words thrash Greg’s daze, and he turns to the detective to make sure he heard correctly. “What?”
“I said you look horrendous,” Sherlock repeats, eyes not leaving his device.
Greg holds a scowl, his eyes flickering down to the floor. “Yeah, thanks for that.”
It’s odd that Sherlock would even mention anything other than the case they are currently glued to. They are about to question the suspect that is being brought by other enforcers. In the mean time, Sherlock and Greg have slipped into a peaceful silence in two uncomfortable chairs just outside in the hall. Only now it’s not so peaceful and Sherlock has brought that upon them through insults.
“What I’m trying to make you understand is that you obviously haven’t slept properly in the past week,” Sherlock observes. “When you and your wife were together, that was never an issue.”
Greg has to refrain from rolling his eyes. “Mm.”
“Sherlock,” John hisses as he comes toward them with two coffee cups. “You can’t just say that out of nowhere.”
“Oh, please, John. You were informing me of that viewpoint just last night,” Sherlock says.
Greg’s jaw drops open as he looks between the two men, Sherlock impassive and John embarrassed. “Oh, I see how it is, then!” he says, crossing his arms. “You two just want to have a laugh so you decide to think of ways to gossip.”
“No, Greg. That’s not what this is,” John argues calmly, sending a glare to Sherlock which he ignores. He hands the coffee to Greg, and Greg’s about to deny it in stubbornness before he gets a whiff of the warm goodness. Instead of turning his nose up at it, he takes it, mumbling a ‘thank you’ in the process. “I was only saying that you seemed off, mate,” continues John. “You’ve been digging yourself in cases and that isn’t like you. We’re just worried, is all.”
Greg sighs, his tenseness dissipating. “I know. I’m sorry for snapping, it’s just—”
“It’s fine,” says John, taking a seat next to him. “But…you know, my suggestion is that you find an activity you enjoy or something. Get your mind off work for a while.”
“I second that,” Donovan pipes up when walking towards them. “You look awful, Greg.”
“Yes, thank you,” Greg grits out.
“When you feel up to it, get home, look on the internet,” Donovan instructs. “Trust me, I’m sure you can find a hobby, no matter how weird.”
And Greg does just that. After the case, he heads to his flat and takes a long nap, it nearing 5AM. Once he’s woken up and somewhat refreshed, he scrolls on his laptop.
The first suggestion that pops up is gardening. He could do that.
He sets up a little string of seeds in a row of dirt just outside his balcony. He had asked the man at the shop which seeds he recommended, and the kind man sent him off with various different seeds.
“I’ll name you Toby,” Greg says as he plants a seed he doesn’t know the name of. This should be simple enough.
The plants are short lived when Greg buys a hose and puts it at the wrong setting when watering the plants. It’s at the highest setting and when he turns it on, the weight of the water knocks the wooden bucket of plants off, sending them flying down his balcony. He winces when he hears them crash on a car below, the vehicle honking. Greg rushes inside, trying to ignore the loud cursing that the owner of the vehicle provides.
“How about knitting?” Molly suggests a few days later. “Always calms me.”
“Okay,” Greg considers. “I’ll knit something for you.”
Molly smiles shyly. “I’d love that.”
That activity is short lived as well. Greg can’t hold his frustration for one moment as he constantly pokes himself, gets lost with the tutorial on YouTube, and all in all, the supposed sweater turns out to be a bundle of false direction.
Greg puts the attempted knitting project on the counter in front of Molly.
Molly smiles in pity. “It’s a start.”
“No, it’s shit.” Greg sighs, wishing he could glare at himself. “Sorry.”
“It’s alright,” says Molly. “How about you find something a little more simple? Something that doesn’t require a set of rules.”
Donovan suggests a hiking trail outside of London. Greg can do that. He can absolutely do that.
“Fuck!” Greg curses when tripping on another long set of weeds. A family passes him, sending him horrified expressions. Greg huffs, sweat dripping down his back. “Yeah, why don’t you take a picture while you’re at it.”
He doesn’t know how Donovan recommended this with such ease, as if it’s the simplest activity in the world. So far, Greg has received numerous scars on his ankles due to sharp ends of rocks and vines, he’s cursed every minute he’s walked (he’s sure he will get kicked out of the park soon), and dizziness from the heat has taken over.
Once back home, he flops on his bed, rolling himself up in blankets. He’s not good at anything. Nothing is for him. Greg shouldn’t be surprised, but he is. Either he’s shit at all hobbies or he’s meant to suffer as a workaholic.
A week later, his neighbor, Mrs. Sue, knocks on his door. When Greg opens it, she’s holding a grey kitten with bright yellow eyes in her hands. Mrs. Sue sneezes several times, putting on a smile.
“Hi, Greg,” she says a bit timidly, her nose noticeably stuffed. “Uh—well, my sister left me with this and I was wondering if you could sit her for a day, only a day. I need to find some place where they will accept cats because I’m quite allergic.”
“Oh,” Greg says. “I mean—yes, of course. I suppose I could sit for a day. What’s her name?”
“Luna,” Mrs. Sue informs, already handing him the cat. “I’ll be back in the afternoon.”
When she leaves, Greg shuts the door and puts the loudly purring cat down. She rubs against his leg, looking up at him with innocent eyes.
“Well, aren’t you just a cutie,” Greg comments. “C’mon. I’m sure I have some milk. Cats like milk, right?”
The whole day, Luna is nothing but attached to him. When Greg sits, she settles herself on his lap. When Greg does his light workout routine on the floor, she’s under him when he does push ups and on top of him when doing sit-ups. Greg can’t help but laugh. Even after he’s taken a shower, she’s waiting patiently outside the door, looking up at him expectantly.
Afternoon hits and the doorbell rings. Disappointment admittedly looms through Greg, especially when he looks down to see Luna sleeping soundly against his leg.
He opens the door and Mrs. She is holding a box. “Thank you so much, Greg,” she says. “I can take her now. I found a place.”
Greg blinks, and he’s considering giving her back to Mrs. Sue. Maybe it’s for the best.
But when Luna looks up at him with her big yellow eyes, Greg can’t resist.
“Erm…actually,” he starts. “I wouldn’t—y’know, mind keepin’ her.”
Mrs. Sue’s eyes widen in surprise. “Really?”
“Yeah, I mean,” Greg shrugs, “she’s a sweetheart. I would be happy to, actually.”
Mrs. Sue signs in relief. “Thank god. I didn’t even know if the place I visited would have accepted her.” She smiles. “This works out perfectly, Greg, thank you.”
Once she’s gone, Greg sits on his chair and pats his leg. Luna hops up and begins to purr against his chest. “Guess this worked out just fine, hm?” he says as he scratches behind her ear.
Though it isn’t classified as a hobby, Greg finally finds something that keeps him busy and content. Though Luna’s constant mewing and purring can be annoying at times, Greg is delighted to have another pair of soft footsteps on the floorboard. He’s happy to have some noise other than himself in the once quiet space. He’s glad to have something to come home to, something to look forward to.
——
Thanks for reading! I know I haven’t been following with the prompts, but I’m sick at home and actually have some time to write so I thought I’d do this prompt today lol.
Greg is one of my absolute favorite characters and I love, love, love writing him. I stand by that he’s both an impatient and patient man, but that’s okay! He finally found something that makes him happy.
Prompt by @calaisreno Thank you for making this a tradition of sorts. I loved writing this!

How Can a Car Mechanic Help You Prepare Your Vehicle for Seasonal Changes?
As the seasons change, so do the demands on your vehicle. From the scorching heat of summer to the icy roads of winter, each season presents unique challenges that can take a toll on your car if not properly addressed. This is where your trusted car mechanic comes in, offering expertise and services to ensure your vehicle is ready to face whatever Mother Nature throws its way. In this comprehensive guide, we'll explore how a car mechanic near me, particularly one from Danilchuk Auto Body Inc., can help you prepare your vehicle for seasonal changes.
The Importance of Seasonal Maintenance
Before delving into the specific ways a car mechanic can assist you, it's essential to understand why seasonal maintenance is crucial. Just as you wouldn't wear a winter coat in the middle of summer, your vehicle needs different care and attention depending on the season. Neglecting seasonal maintenance can lead to decreased performance, reduced safety, and costly repairs down the road. By staying proactive and working with a skilled mechanic, you can keep your vehicle running smoothly year-round.
Finding a Reliable Mechanic Near You
The first step in preparing your vehicle for seasonal changes is to find a reliable mechanic near you. With so many options available, it's essential to choose a shop that offers quality service, experienced technicians, and a commitment to customer satisfaction. Danilchuk Auto Body Inc., located in Charlestown, is a prime example of a trusted auto shop known for its professionalism and expertise. By choosing a mechanic near you, you can enjoy convenience and peace of mind knowing that help is just a short drive away.
Comprehensive Inspection and Maintenance
One of the primary ways a car mechanic can help you prepare your vehicle for seasonal changes is through a comprehensive inspection and maintenance routine. This involves examining various components of your car to identify any potential issues and address them before they escalate. From checking fluid levels and inspecting belts and hoses to examining the brakes and suspension system, a skilled mechanic will leave no stone unturned in ensuring your vehicle is in optimal condition.
Fluid Checks and Changes
Fluids play a critical role in keeping your vehicle running smoothly, particularly during seasonal transitions. Your car mechanic can perform a thorough inspection of essential fluids such as engine oil, coolant, transmission fluid, and brake fluid. They'll check for proper levels, signs of contamination, and any indications of leaks. Depending on the manufacturer's recommendations and the specific needs of your vehicle, they may also perform fluid changes to ensure peak performance and longevity.
Tire Inspection and Maintenance
Your tires are your vehicle's only point of contact with the road, making them a crucial aspect of seasonal preparation. A car mechanic can inspect your tires for wear and tear, uneven tread wear, and proper inflation levels. They can also recommend tire rotations to promote even wear and extend the life of your tires. Additionally, they may suggest switching to seasonal tires or installing tire chains for added traction in inclement weather conditions.
HVAC System Check
As the seasons change, so do your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) needs. Before the onset of extreme temperatures, it's essential to have your HVAC system inspected by a qualified mechanic. They can check the functionality of your heater and defroster, ensure proper airflow through the vents, and inspect the air conditioning system for any leaks or malfunctions. By addressing HVAC issues proactively, you can stay comfortable behind the wheel regardless of the weather outside.
Battery Inspection and Testing
Extreme temperatures can take a toll on your car's battery, making it more susceptible to failure during seasonal transitions. A car mechanic can perform a battery inspection and test to assess its overall health and capacity. They'll check for signs of corrosion on the terminals, ensure a secure connection, and measure the voltage and cold-cranking amps. If necessary, they can recommend battery replacement to prevent unexpected breakdowns when you need your vehicle the most.
Brake Inspection and Service
Your brakes are perhaps the most critical safety feature of your vehicle, especially when navigating challenging road conditions brought about by seasonal changes. A skilled mechanic can inspect your brake system for signs of wear, including worn brake pads, leaking brake fluid, and damaged brake lines. They can also perform brake fluid flushes and rotor resurfacing or replacement as needed to maintain optimal stopping power and safety on the road.
Preparing for Emergencies: Tow Truck Rental
Despite your best efforts to prepare your vehicle for seasonal changes, emergencies can still arise unexpectedly. Whether you find yourself stranded on the side of the road due to a mechanical failure or stuck in a snowbank during a winter storm, having access to a reliable tow truck rental can provide invaluable peace of mind. Danilchuk Auto Body Inc. offers tow truck rental services near you, ensuring prompt assistance when you need it most.
Seasonal changes bring with them a unique set of challenges for your vehicle, but with the help of a trusted car mechanic near you, you can navigate them with confidence. From comprehensive inspections and maintenance to fluid checks, tire services, and emergency assistance, Danilchuk Auto Body Inc. has you covered every step of the way. By prioritizing seasonal preparation and working closely with your mechanic, you can keep your vehicle performing at its best year-round, ensuring a safe and comfortable driving experience in any weather conditions. What to Look for When Shopping at the Car Auctions Near Me?
Are you planning to participate in the British Car Auctions? Well, these are the steps that you should consider first:
1. Inspect the car thoroughly
Car Auctions UK starts with a visual inspection. It is important to inspect for any signs of worn hoses, leaks, or rusted parts.
Also, it is the best way to go for a test drive. That car you wish to buy will tell the driver everything if things are not going enough with the conditions of the machine.
Well, it is your duty to look for damage, dust, or any type of wear and tear that exist in a car.
2. Get a history report
• Check the vehicle identification number (VIN): It is the buyer that should aware of getting the VIN from the seller. Also, you should verify that number online for concluding the authenticity. • Get a vehicle history report: It is important to find a service provider that provides a history of a used car including all necessary details. • Verify the mileage: A buyer’s responsibility is to ask about all basic things including the mileage of the car as per its current conditions. • Take it for a test drive: As mentioned earlier, a used car should be taken out for a ride to confirm its swiftness and performance. • Have a mechanic inspect the car: A buyer should buy the assistance from a mechanic to inspect his or her car precisely.
3. Research the car model
When you do the appropriate research, the following activities will take part significantly:
• Determine the make and model of the car. • Research the car’s features, specifications, and safety ratings. • Look up reviews from automotive experts. • Compare prices for the car model to other similar models. • Consider the car’s fuel efficiency. • Check the car’s warranty and available extended warranties. • Research the car model’s history, such as any recalls or problems with the car. • Research the car’s resale value. • Check out the car’s maintenance requirements. • Take a test drive to get a feel for the car.
4. Check the paperwork
When a buyer is willing to buy a used car from the “Car Auctions Near me”, he or she should go for the following activities while verifying everything related to a car’s documentation:
• Check the car's title or registration. • Make sure that the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) on the title • Check for any encumbrances, liens, or title brands. • Check the odometer reading to make sure it's accurate. • Check the vehicle history report to make sure it matches the car's title and VIN. • Look for any signs of damage or repair work, such as mismatched paint, replaced parts, or rust. • Look for any signs of tampering with the odometer. • Check the emission control system to make sure it's up to date. • Verify that all safety features and equipment are working properly. • Have an independent mechanic inspect the car for any potential issues.
5. Set a budget
Once all steps are done, the owner should verify whether the car is fitting in the decided budget or not. This won’t be a difficult practice to do!

Mud
Bo and Lester go muddin, thas it
warnings: none
-------------------------------------------------------
When a group came to Ambrose it usually meant that Bo would have to work extra for a whole lot less. Normally what people carried with them didn't amount to a hill of beans but sometimes they got lucky, and this was one of them times. On his way back from a night drive, Bo came across a group of people camped out in a field near Ambrose. Usually he would be pissed at the idea of having to wrangle so many but his disdain was quelled when he noticed the trailer hitched to the back of some beat up pick up with a pretty looking four wheeler strapped to it. He couldn't wait to get rid of the group.
After all was said and done and the crew dealt with, Bo set off on foot to retrieve the vehicles, he was gonna ride that four wheeler home, giddy to run it through the washed out road before the small town. As he walked he thought of the small creek back behind the house that tended to dry out a little round this time of year, it would be a perfect mud pit to ride through. His steps faulted when he noticed the familiar gore covered truck his baby brother traveled in parked near the campsite, the roar of an engine off in the distance.
"Now what in th' Sam Hill?" Bo muttered as he pushed through the clearing, his eyes fell on Lester atop the off-road vehicle as the younger sibling drove in a stationary circle-- this motherfucker was driving it before Bo even had the chance to look at it up close.
"Hey!" Bo hollered over the commotion, stamping towards Lester, "Th'fuck you think yer doin', jackass?"
Lester stopped moving and turned to look at Bo, "Doin' donuts?" he said as if it weren't the most obvious thing in the world. "I can see that, what I meant was th'fuck you think yer doin' takin' it out for a joyride while you ain't did nothin' to work fer it?" Bo glowered as he snatched the key from the ignition.
"Hey! Now what'd'ya do that for? I was drivin' it!" Lester whined and reached to grab the keys from Bo who dangled them out of his reach. "No y'aint, now get yer ass off, it's my turn." The older man said as he began to push the other off the seat.
"There's room fer botha us! Quit shovin', Bo!" Lester gestured to the rear passenger seat, "Why I'm sure we could fit Vinny on here too."
"I ain't totin' y'alls 'nnoyin' asses round, now get." Bo watched as Lester pouted up at him-- oh god he better not try it.
"C'mon Bo, yo'on never do nothin' with me.." Lester started and crossed his arms, "and plus we both planned on muddin', and there *is* enough room." Bo tried to ignore the twinge of guilt he felt as Lester begged to spend time with him. "How you know I was gonna go muddin'?" He asked.
"Cuz y'aint got yer work clothes on or your dress clothes, and who in their right mind wouldn't go muddin' if they gotta four wheeler?" Lester was right and it wasn't like it would kill Bo to spend time with him, hell, he might even have fun.
"'lright but keep your stank-ass away from me or I'm throwin' you off, now move over." Bo swung his foot over the seat and turned the key in the ignition before setting off to Ambrose, he'd let Vincent deal with the cars.
Bo wasn't really enjoying himself at first, uncomfortable with the way Lester would cling to his shirt anytime they hit a pothole. But when the two approached the washed out part of the road he could feel the excitement radiating from his little brother and he couldn't deny that he was excited too. Bo crept forwards and tested the height of the waters before gunning it through the massive puddle. Instantly their lower halves were soaked but neither cared, enjoying how cool it felt compared the heat of the air.
The older sibling was showing out as he rode through the empty roads of Ambrose, cutting close as he took a few alleys that had his brother hooting and hollering behind him. He truly felt like a king, he could do whatever he wanted in the town, he and his brothers could horse around and there wasn't no one around who could tell them otherwise.
Soon they traveled the trail behind their house that took them out a ways to the creek and Bo looked back towards Lester with a grin. "Y'ready?" He asked as he revved the four wheeler, slightly gassing it to scare Lester. "Hell yeah!" Lester answered and his arms circled Bo's midsection when he realized how bumpy the brook was. The action caused the other to stiffen, Lester noticed and began to pull away with a quick "'m'sorry." Bo shook his head and flashed a smirk at the other, "Naw, hol'on."
Not sparing a second, Bo took off down the muddy land below, slinging mud and rocks as he drove. It didn't take long for the two to be caked in mud but didn't have a care in their mind, and for a split second he kinda understood why Lester liked being filthy-- like hell he'd mention it though. Bo aimed to hit every dip in the bed of the creek, letting out a shout as they went slightly airborne when he happened across a steep one. After a while Bo decided that it was time to call it quits and drove back to his little station in Ambrose, he wanted to clean it and check it for any problems.
When they got off Bo made a face as he got a whiff of the usual stink of Lester accompanied by the sour smell of mud. "Ugh, y'smell like shit! Go'n back and get th'hose." He groaned and Lester grinned at him. "S'your upper lip." He cackled and went to fetch the hose beside Bo's shop.
"I'll make you think s'my upper lip!" Bo yelled as he followed after his brother, making sure he didn't mess anything up.

“The Angry Guy” Mickey Milkovich x Ian Gallagher
Summary: The one where Trevor witnesses an angry Mickey after someone tries to hurt one of his family members. However, Trevor doesn't know right away that he's seeing his ex's new husband.
Word Count: 1460
Warning: Swearing
Song I Wrote To: “Chosen One” by Valley of Wolves
Note: Summary kind of sucks, but we'll go with it. This is my first time writing Shameless! I'll need a few to get my groove with it, but God I love GALLAVICH.
------
Trevor was sad to be out of Washington D.C., but being back to walking around the streets of the South Side felt as if he had never left.
After spending time on Capitol Hill trying to convince lawmakers to propose new bills to protect LGBTQ youth, he was exhausted. However, there was something about being back in Chicago that put his mind at ease. The bustling sounds of people, the harsh clanking of the L, and even the blaring sirens that never seemed to stop made it...home.
Then there were the people. He had missed his kids the most and even with daily phone calls and texts, it wasn’t enough. He had to get back to them and continue his work. As Trevor headed towards the Youth Center, he passed by a commotion on the corner. A cop car was half on the sidewalk as a suspect was being pinned down while a shorter man was yelling obscenities at him.
“You fuckin’ go near him again, I ain’t gonna be callin’ the fuckin’ cops, asshole!” the short, dark-haired man was yelling as a tall cop with glasses hauled a handcuffed man into the back of the squad vehicle.
“Fuck you!” the bleeding man yelled as the cop slammed the door shut behind him. The other man simply flipped him off with a smirk.
“Did you need to beat him over the head with a beer bottle?” a familiar voice said, drawing Trevor’s attention.
“Look, I didn’t fuckin’ kill the guy, Gallagher,” the dark-haired man said with a shrug. Another cop, one Trevor instantly recognized as Carl Gallagher came into view from the shop behind the altercation. He was looking at the man in front of him with an exasperated look on his face.
Trevor was surprised to see Carl with a badge. From everything Ian had told him about his younger brother, Trevor figured Carl would be the one in handcuffs rather than doing the arresting. “Gallagher!” the other cop yelled, “you coming or what?”
“Nah, man, I already called Rollins for a ride, gotta take this one’s statement,” Carl said with a point at the fuming man beside him. The other cop nodded and then got behind the wheel to take their prisoner away. Carl then turned back to the dark-haired man.
“You’re on parole, idiot,” Carl said.
“Hence the beer bottle, moron,” angry guy said, as Trevor had come to call him in the short moment of observation.
“Who the fuck says ‘hence’?” Carl asked.
“Me, bitch.”
“Whatever, just don’t do anything else stupid,” Carl continued. “I don’t want to have to arrest you.”
“The fuck did I do?!” angry guy exclaimed. “He was the one who swung first! Motherfucker nearly took Liam’s head off!” Trevor jolted at the sound of the youngest Gallagher sibling’s name. Someone had tried to hurt him and angry guy was clearly upset about it. Carl, however, didn’t seem to be that concerned.
“He ducked,” Carl reminded angry guy.
“You’re a real fuckin’ asshole sometimes,” angry guy said.
“Ah, I love you, too,” Carl said with a roll of his eyes.
“Whatever, I’m goin’ home. Try not to corrupt the fuckin’ city, will ya?”
“You gotta go meet Ian at the hospital!” Carl called as angry guy began walking down the sidewalk towards Trevor. “Debbie texted me, they’re gonna be there a bit longer.”
“I thought you said he was fuckin’ fine!” angry guy said.
“Liam hit his head when he fell,” Carl said.
“Fuck! Alright, I’m goin’. See you at home?”
“Yeah man,” Carl said. “Oh, and Mick!” Angry guy, or rather, Mick, turned one more time and stared at Carl expectantly. It was then that Trevor finally realized who ‘Mick’ was and why he seemed familiar.
Mick. Mickey. Mickey Milkovich.
Ian’s ex.
When Ian and Trevor had heard the news that Mickey had escaped prison, Trevor had watched as Ian’s world was pulled out from under his feet. Trevor had asked around after that, learning as much about the infamous Mickey as he possibly could. Lip was the one who gave him the best answer. Apparently, the two had known each other since Ian was fifteen and had been together on and off. From the way the eldest Gallagher brother explained, Trevor didn’t think they had the healthiest relationship.
However, whenever he heard things from Debbie or even on the off chance, Frank, Trevor realized that Mickey Milkovich was Ian’s, first epic love. That was part of the reason that Trevor hadn’t been surprised when Ian had run off to get him to Mexico to avoid prison. However, considering Mickey was standing in front of him and Carl was yelling about parole, Trevor figured that Milkovich had somehow worked the system and was a free man. Also, he was clearly back in Ian’s life.
“What!” Mickey yelled, answering Carl.
“Ian needs you to pick up Franny on the way,” said Carl.
“Why is nobody just texting me instead of you?” Mickey asked.
“Because you used your phone to smash that asshole’s face the first time, remember?” Carl said and Mickey paused before nodding.
“Right, got it,” Mickey said. “Well, why can’t Ian have you pick up Little Red?”
“I gotta work!” Carl said as another squad car pulled up, Rollins, Trevor figured.
“You’re his brother!” Mickey argued.
“And you’re his husband, start acting like it!” Carl shot back as he got in the car and flipped Mickey off as he sped off toward the station. Trevor was staring at Mickey in shock then.
Husband.
Mickey Milkovich married Ian Gallagher.
“The fuck you gawkin’ at,” Mickey suddenly said, breaking Trevor out of his trance. Trevor hadn’t realized he had been staring.
“Nothin’, man,” Trevor said. Mickey looked at him for a second before rolling his eyes and walking the other way. Trevor watched after Milkovich for a second before hastily pulling out his phone. He had unfriended all of the Gallaghers after Ian and he broke up, but he knew Debbie’s social media were still public.
It didn’t take him long to find what he was looking for. Halfway down the feed on her Instagram was a photo of Ian and Mickey in black and white tuxes, holding hands, as rice was thrown into the air. Ian had the biggest smile Trevor had ever seen on his face. Mickey, who was not only sporting a black eye, but a grin of his own, was looking into the camera Debbie held, but Ian’s gaze was somewhere else. Ian Gallagher was staring at his new husband as if Mickey hung the stars and Trevor felt a pang in his heart because he knew that Ian had never looked at him like that. Two matching wedding bands were on their fingers as they walked towards the car at the end of the walkway filled with friends and family.
Trevor continued to scroll after the wedding photos to see even more photos of Mickey Milkovich around the Gallagher family. There was a photo of Mickey spraying Franny with the hose as she tried to hide behind her Uncle Carl. Another was Mickey holding a small baby as Lip looked on with adoration for the infant. The caption read: Uncle Mickey holding Baby Fred for the first time. Already giving Lip fatherly advice.
More and more, there were photos of the ex-con surrounded by his in-laws. However, there also seemed to be an overwhelming amount of photos taken of him and Ian before and after the wedding. It seemed that Ian and Mickey were Debbie’s favourite subjects to take photos of. There were ones of them laying together on the couch during family movie night, a few taken at the traditional South Side bonfires, and even one of the newlyweds each holding one of Kev and V’s twin girls. Gemma and Amy both beaming up at their newly-married uncles.
There was one photo, however, that Trevor couldn’t stop looking at. It wasn’t anything out of the normal for social media, but for Mickey Milkovich it was historic. The photo was of Ian, Mickey, Debbie, and a girl that Trevor didn’t know. Debbie was kissing the girl in her arms while Ian had his arms around Mickey as the latter kissed him firmly. In the background, a large pride flag flew from the parade that was going on behind them.
“Mickey Milkovich at a Pride parade,” Trevor muttered as he stared at the photo in awe. With a smile, Trevor looked back at a retreating Milkovich, now Milkovich-Gallagher, and shook his head in amusement at the thought of Mickey being protective of Liam, joking with Carl, and kissing his husband at Pride. “Damn Gallagher,” Trevor said with a sigh, “guess he wasn't that nuts after all.”

COST
MobileMechanic Services in Albuquerque NM: Our mobile mechanics charge as low as $40-60 per hour plus parts. Most independent repair shops charge between $70-$90 per hour and most dealerships charge between $80-$125 per hour. If you find a good mobile mechanic repair shop that you can trust to do great work and give you excellent service, then be happy to pay them their rate and invite them or take your cars to them whenever you need them serviced.
Looking for mobile mechanic pricing? Your Albuquerque NM mobile mechanic charges only the base cost of parts, plus our flat rate $30-60 per hour labor fee.
There are several main factors that determine labor rates. Dealerships are generally more expensive than independent repair shops. One of the main reasons is because consumers see them as being more qualified to work on their cars. In some cases this might be true, but in some cases it isn't. Dealerships generally have brand specific diagnostic tools that are very expensive and this adds to their labor cost as well.
Another determining factor for labor rates is where the shop is located in Albuquerque NM. Where it is located in the city and which city it is located in both play a role. If it is in the middle of town where building lease rates are high the labor rate will probably be higher. If they are located in a small town they will usually have lower labor rates. Some cities have higher rates than other similarly sized cities.
As far as a reasonable rate, there are also several factors to consider here as well. The main thing to think about is are you getting good service and quality work done on your car? If the answer is yes, then you should be willing to pay a premium for that since it is so hard to find.
Most independent repair shops charge between $80-$90 per hour and most dealerships charge between $80-$125 per hour.
Get Peace Of Mind With Our Easy To Understand, Transparent Quotes.
Mobile Mechanic Services in Albuquerque NM: Getting an instant price is just a few clicks away. Simply provide your car make and model, desired service, your location and we’ll provide you with a fair, transparent quote before you schedule your service.
Our easy to understand quotes show the detailed cost of labor, parts, and taxes (if any). You'll know exactly what's included in your service so there are no surprises.
You're always in control. If your mechanic discovers that your car doesn't need all the services you requested, we'll remove those services and lower your bill, right on the spot. If your car needs additional repair services, your mechanic will provide you with an itemized list of what you need. You can always decide to add or decline any additional services.
Low Overhead Means Savings For You.
Our mechanics are mobile. Not only do we have significantly lower overhead costs compared to the local shops, but as a national brand, we are able to negotiate better prices from the auto parts vendors. We pass these savings to you! The bigger the job, the more you save.

Learn from my misery
So, if you look back to the very beginning of this blog, you'll notice that I started it just after becoming homeless in North Dakota during the winter. That time was hell, and I still occasionally have nightmares about it, but it taught me some things that might be useful to some of you right now:
Water is your enemy: liquid water can cause you to freeze very quickly, can turn into ice or slush and cause injuries, and will sap the heat from your shelter. Make sure that runoff from melting snow can't seep into your shelter, remove snow and ice from walking paths, and take off any wet clothing. I don't care how much it sounds like a bad fanfic, having your roommate see you starkers is better than having a limb amputated.
...but snow can be your friend: Snow will block airflow when packed together, and that includes blocking drafts coming from outside your shelter. It will also insulate you from the really bad cold that can happen around 2:00 AM. Packing snow around the sides of your shelter (but away from walls, windows, and vents) can dramatically improve your odds of survival through a bad night.
Channel your inner MacGyver: There are a lot of things that can be very useful in keeping you warm or giving you power in an emergency.
* Inflatable mattresses and pool floats, when inflated halfway and used as a blanket, will keep you warmer than the warmest comforter; during the day you can tape them to a wall or hang them from the ceiling as an extra piece of insulation.
* Blowing up balloons, taping them to a wall or ceiling, and then adding a layer of plastic wrap, trash bags, or a tarp will form an extremely good insulator; this trick works even better for the long balloons used to make balloon animals.
* Shopping bags and trash bags can be duct taped to your feet after you put shoes on in order to prevent your feet and legs from getting wet.
* A layer of popcorn, bubble wrap, crumpled paper, or wadded shopping bags between layers of clothing can dramatically enhance your clothes' ability to insulate you from the cold.
* If nobody in your area is selling snow shovels, you can make one by securing a metal dust pan to a broom handle using a length of rope
* You can take the battery out of your car, bring it inside, and run wires to the terminals of a car charger to charge your phone (the center prong of the charger is positive, the contacts around the periphery are negative/ground). Return it to the car and run the car for a bit after three hours of charging.
* Most batteries output about 3.3v; if you put a set of them in series (all facing the same direction, with the positive end of one touching the negative end of the other) you can combine their voltages. Most devices that run off a DC barrel jack will have the power statistics (voltage, current requirements, etc) written near the jack; if you're desperate, you can try briefly running a device straight from batteries (this is likely to damage the device if done for any period of time, so it should only be used in emergencies.)
* Using a file on iron and mixing the results with sand or sawdust, salt, and water will produce heat.
Beware Carbon Monoxide: the cold isn't your only enemy. In insulating your shelter, you've also reduced air flow and may be adding a source of CO as well. Find a carbon monoxide alarm that runs on batteries (the one in your home probably does) and bring it into your shelter with you Remember not to block vehicle exhausts, unplug the dryer if you plan to block its exhaust hose, and ensure that there is still some air flow source when you're done sealing all your drafts.
Have a contingency plan before you go to sleep: Panic is the thing most likely to kill you in a hazardous environment, and nothing induces panic like waking up to the feeling of snow falling on your face through a hole that wasn't there when you went to bed. Before you go to sleep, make plans for where you'll go if your current shelter fails, how you'll get there, and what you'll do. It also helps to have some backup heat generation method available for emergencies.

Just ‘reading the trouble code’ is not an engine diagnostic test for the Check Engine light coming on. When the light comes on, it may stay on for several days or may come on for just a few minutes and then go off on it’s on. The computer in the vehicle is constantly doing multiple self-test to make sure the vehicle is operating correctly. The check engine light may illuminate in your dash for several reasons, but the mains issues we see are due to a Fuel, Mechanical or an Emission issue. Remember, if the Check Engine light in your dash is Flashing (like your turn signal blinking on & off) this is a problem and needs immediate attention before damage occurs to vital components on your vehicle.
Your Engine Diagnostic Test
There are a number of things that we may look at when we run an engine diagnostic test to help us determine what is triggering your check engine light to come on. Some of these include:

Transmission issues
Worn out and/or failing engine components
Damaged hoses causing Vacuum leaks

Scooby Doo,and the Ink Machine. Chapter 1
New York City, 1946
Car noises blared across the city sky as they drive off to their specific destination. Either they be towards home, work, shopping or really anything that warrants fast travel,it was hard to hear them unless you're hard of hearing. For a guy like Edward Blake it was the city version of hearing cicadas in the countryside which soothed him during his time, slumping over the drawing board as he made sure the lines on the cartoon characters he was doing are smooth as possible. To say that working for the famous Joey Drew owner of Joey Drew Studios and home of renowned cartoon icon Bendy the Dancing Demon demanded blood and sweat along with talent would be the understatement of the century. He lost count on how many social events, and free time he missed out on all because of how his boss demanded overtime from him and his fellow cartoonists. He sighed in annoyance at that,as he placed the finishing touches on the picture of Bendy about to give Alice Angel flowers. Thankful that this was the last cell he had to work on for the night,Eddy started to put everything on his desk away at the folder, and pack his own stuff to carry home.He then heard someone come next to him ,hearing then a mop plop down behind him. Eddy didn't need to ask who was it behind him.
"Anyone else gone home for the night Wally?" Eddy asked without looking at the studio's janitor Wally Franks.
"Well by that you mean the ones that don't have to make sure them ink pipes don't go dynamite on this joint then sure." Wally replied as he moped. "Afraid I can't say the same for myself you know?"
"Connor on your case again?" Eddy asked as he picks up his suitcase.
"Right on the money." Wally said with an annoyed tone. "One little slip up with the monkey wrench apparently lands me doing night shifts as a way to make me more attentive." Wally mops around the middle of the room. "Would it kill Connor to lighten up once in a while? You'd think working in a cartoon studio would make a fella chuckle a bit more."
"He's just a little on edge with what rumors are saying about the studio facing money problems despite what Mr Drew says." Eddy said. "That and the growing number of missing people here isn't helping him I'm sure." Eddy looked around nervously as he said that.
"Yeah well rumors, or not I ain't got time to do some overtime. Getting enough flak from my gal about not spending some more time together." Wally finished the last space in the room then starts to go out. "If I get slammed with doing oil changing the ink equipment next I'm outta here!"
After seeing Wally leave,Eddy followed out, then making a right turn. He pondered more about the rumors he mentioned Wally about the studio possibly going under. He felt that it might've been the reason why Drew had been making hem do more overtime as a way to pay off whatever dept he owed. Granted Drew talked about many times that the studio was doing fine and normally with a man that's able to make inspiring speeches he'd feel more at ease. However a man like Napoleon Bonaparte likely had said the same thing to his troops during the invasion of Russia, and he knew how they worked out for him at the end. But what worried him more was how people around the studios kept vanishing like ghosts. One especially was Susie Campbell who he remembered last time seeing was distraught about being replaced as Alice angel's voice actress. He was keeping on his toes since they started to begin. He also notice that the newest intern Drew hired named Buddy went missing too. He did like the kid from the few interactions he'd had with him. What didn't help was the strange noises he's been hearing near the medical rooms. Coming from the door that no one's meant to go inside in. Animal like noises he could've sworn were being uttered around that side of the studio. He prayed that nothing will happen to him long enough to see his brother Denny Blake being married to his long time lover. He's glad that Denny from his end was really making enough dough to last his luck for a lifetime along with his children's children when they come. At the very least one of the Blake brothers was getting fortunate at life.
As he reached to the exit,he stopped in dismay on what he almost forgot.
"Dang it!" Eddy muttered under his breath. "Of all the times to forget about my coat." Sighing he turned around and went to the direction to where he hung his coat in the recreation room. He went down the steps leading down to the recreation room, filled with tables, and darting boards on walls. He was about to grab his coat until he heard a clanging sound. He topped still and turned his eyes around. "Wally is that you?" Eddy called out in a quiet tone. "If this is a joke it's not funny..." Hoping as it was Wally,he was getting the feeling that it wasn't him.
Eddy backed away slowly, being extra attentive to his surroundings so he can catch who ever was making the noise, and chew out for making a distasteful gag. He kept hearing more clanking, making him want to just dash it out of there, but daring not too. He almost reached the staircase when he notice an odd yet familiar smell.
<i>"Is that ink?" </i> Eddy thought as he noticed more of the inky smell coming to his senses. He suddenly felt something wet,and sticky hitting his back. Heart pounding, and mind, racing in fear, Eddy began to look up to what he hit against.
The face of Bendy that is he assumed to be Bendy's from what face he can clearly see, smiled down at Eddy,as Eddy gasped a silent scream at the shock. The Bendy creature's face was almost covered down with ink but the smile clearly wasn't. Regaining what common sense he had,Eddy backed straight away to move from the creature's arms as it tried to grab him. Eddy ran to the other side of the room as the creature limped after him. Eddy threw tables at it,taking the chance to race down back to the stair case. As he ran up,he heard the creature racing after him. He slammed the door, and locked it after going up,praying it'll hold long enough for him to escape. He charged to the left,as he heard the door breaking open. Dashing some more,he eventually reached the exit, but before he can around the corner,he felt his right foot being grabbed, falling down face flat, eddy scream in terror as he being dragged more and more away from the exit.
Afterwards no other noise let alone screams of the terrified animator was heard other then wheezing animal noises in Joey Drew Studios.

Present Day:
New Jersey Pine Barrens. Nighttime
Owls hoot in the night sky as the trees of the infamous Pine Barrens rustles in the night. It was a peaceful sight to behold for sure that is until a giant shape burst out from the trees. The shape was a giant monster that had a demonic hose head, body of a bear, claws of an eagle with hood legs, bat wings, and snake tail that roared in fury as it tried to shake off a rope that was tied around it's tail.
At the end of the rope a tall skinny young man wearing a green shirt with his dog a Great Dane both clearly hanging on for dear life.
"Like this is the last time I try to play cowboy with a dragon thingy Scoob!" The skinny man cried out to his dog.
"Rikewise here Rhaggy!" Scooby Doo yelled to Shaggy Rogers in turn as they swing around the air like a couple of monkeys hanging for dear life.
The beast roared in fury at the two poor souls then it dove back down to the forest ramming into trees in an effort to shake them off.
"Like-OW-OOF! OWY HEY NOT IN THE MOUTH MAN!" Shaggy yelled in pain, coughing up leaves.
Coming in front of them was a van that was blue and green with the words Mystery Machine written on both sides. A gun came out of top of the van then it fired a net at the creature at full face. The beast roared as it crshed to the ground, knocked out.
Another young man dressed in a white sweater with an orange ascot came out of the driving side of the van,and rushed quickly to the van. Two other people a beautiful young woman dressed in a purple dress, green scarf, and purple tights, and a nerdy girl with an orange sweater with glasses followed after him.
"I can't believe this worked on the first try!" The man with the ascot said with excitiment. "I mean usually they tend to backfire at first but this is the first time it didn't happen!"
"Like that's great Fred but can ya please get me and Scooby down?!" Shaggy said as he and Scooby hung from branches in a comical fashion.
"Here let me help!" The girl with the purple dress said as he started to climb up. She soon reached them and got out some knives as she cut the branches down. both Shaggy and Scooby fell down softly.
"Like thanks Daphne!" Shaggy said as he rubbed his butt.
"No problem." Daphne Blake said coming down. "Pays to have outdoor training years ago."
Fred Jones saw upcoming police vehicles drive up. "Right on time. Care to do the honors Velma?" He asked the nerdy girl.
"Like I need to ask Fred?" Velma Dinkley replied in his usual know it all self. She turned to see the chief come up to them with a rightfully concerned look.
"Care to explain me kids on how the flipping heck did you capture the Jersey Devil?!" The chief demanded. "That monstrosity put many of my men and women to hospitals faster then you can say Clockman Diamond!"
"Funny you should mention that Chief." Velma replied going up to the Jersey Devil. "Had this been the actual Jersey Devil it would've done more then put people into hospitals but seeing as on how we've figured out on this is otherwise allow us to show you who's been really behind the Jersey Devil attacks."
She pressed into the monster's neck, making clicking noises as the head falls off revealing itself to be just a high tech suit, worn by a disgruntled man with balding hair, and a glare in his eyes.
"Glen Richards?!" The Chief cried in surprise "But how? Why? He was doing well as the city's electrician!"
"He was. However he didn't always want to be known as such. He had ambitions of being the owner of his own movie studio and was able to get enough funds from his time as an electrician however the problem was that he wanted to set it up at the Pine Barrens but the county council didn't allow it for obvious reason." Velma said.
"So in order to scare people away from the Pine Barrens for good,Richards used his suit making skills he learned from film school to construct the Jersey Devil suit using advance enough tech to make a convincing method to bringing the Jersey Devil legend alive!" Fred joined in.
"It took a little eye for detail to figure out on how the fur on the creature was made from leftover fun used from taxidermy operations." Daphne said plucking out clumps of fur then showing it to the police chief. "This was made from deer fur, so once we were able to figure where the fur came from and where bits of oil were flown about from the hydrolics all we had to do was to set him up and nab him!"
"And I would've gotten away with it too! If it weren't from you snooping goody two shoes suck ups to the law and your flea ridden sorry excuse for a canine!" glen Richards growled as he was led away."
"Hey!" Scooby said with offense.
"Like you could've just said Meddling kids and your dog too man!" Shaggy said.
"THEY MEAN THE SAME THING MORON!" Richards yelled as he was driven off.
"Sheesh! Like someone didn't give him enough hugs." Shaggy said with annoyance.
"Well thanks kids." The chief said shaking Fred's hand. "A lot of folks are gonna rest easy tonight."
"It's our thing chief! Always happy to help!" Fred said with his usual friendliness. The chief then went to his own car and drove off. He then turned around and faced his friends. "Another mystery solved gang!"
"About time too! Scooby Doo!" Scooby said giggling.
Daphne smiled then she heard her phone ring from her purse. She got it out and looked at her friends "Hang on guys! I have to take this." She answered the phone. "Yes?...Oh Mimi it's great to hear from you!...Yes I know I loved your last fashion show!....Huh?....Wait really?!" She said looking surprised then serious. "....You're not pulling my leg right?.....Where?!.....You have it?!....Thank you so much Mimi! I'll tell them about this!..alk to you later!" She hung up the phone and sees her friends looking a little worried.
"You ok Daph?" Fred asked in a concerned tone. "Something happen?"
"Yes Fred but it's the good kind!" Daphne said "It has to do with my great uncle Edward Blake!"
"Edward Blake?" Shaggy asked. "Wait wasn't he one of the animators of-"
"Of the Bendy cartoons? Well sure!" Daphne said with a surprised tone. "You watch them too Shaggy?"
"Like sure Daphne!" Shaggy said with a grin. "It's one of Scoob and mine's top cartoons to watch as kids."
"Surprised you didn't ask us before Rahpne!" Scooby said.
"Ok going fanboy or fangirl in your case Daphne aside what about Edward Blake?" Velma asked now curious.
"Oh right!" Daphne said remembering what she was about to say. "My old friend Mimi works as a fashion designer in New York City, and she said that during one of the renovations near where Joey Drew Studios was at,hey found a couple of items there. Most of which belonged to My great uncle who vanished those years ago."
"So this was a family mystery for a long while now?" Fred asked, looking equally as curious.
"Yeah." Daphne sighed. "I remember my grandmother talking about on how her father was devastated at his brother's going missing like that. He wasn't totally the same afterwards." She looked up,looking pretty glad. "Mimi said she has his suitcase in hand, and wanted to show it to me to finally get more of an idea of where he went."
"Wasn't the studio also the subject of urban legends of ink oozing out from the studio's cracks and odd animal noises coming from it?" Velma then inquired. "I remember reading upon New York's urban legends and that was among the more infamous ones."
"Like what now?" Shaggy asked now with a look of horror in his face. Same goes for Scooby.
"Yep." Daphne replied. "If that isn't adding icing on the cake for us I don't know what is."
"Well then." Fred said with a look of great interest coming upon him. "I think we've just found ourselves a new mystery!"
Both Shaggy and Scooby look dejected.
"Well so much for a relaxing weekend right Scoob?" Shaggy said to Scooby.
"Rep." Scooby said nodding his head. "Phooey."

To Play the Game (and win your heart)
Summary: Some people would call it a job, but to Emma and her sister, Milah, it’s a game of the heart. Play by the rules and you’ll never get hurt.
Whatever you call swindling wealthy men out of their money, this con-artist duo has it down to a tee. Milah sets up an available, rich man and gets him to marry her. Emma seduces and lures the husband into having an affair so he’ll get caught in the act. He then loses his money in the ensuing divorce.
The sisters wear a coat of armor around their hearts to keep them intact, but when they set their sights on their next mark, professional golfer Killian “Hook” Jones, Emma never imagined how hard the game could be and how easily her heart could be stolen—especially when she switches roles with Milah and becomes the one exchanging vows with the gorgeous multi-millionaire. Heartbreakers AU.

Chapter 7: Holding the High Card
~Rule #7: Keep him at bay. On your first date, don’t wear anything too revealing, remain interested yet aloof and never give him more than a peck on the cheek; leave him begging for more. A little mystery drives a man wild.~
“You came home late last night.” Milah folds her arms, scolding her sister as Emma joins her at the breakfast table, clutching a hot cup of coffee.
There’s a drowsy smile on her face as she takes a slow sip of the hot beverage, but apparently Milah is intent on ruining the moment by treating her like a two year old child. She’s staring at Emma with those stern mom eyes, raising a brow. “You didn’t sleep with him, did you? Because you know that is strictly against the—”
“No, of course not!” Emma cries out, defensively. “We were dancing and eating dinner at the country club, that’s all.”
Milah’s expression changes into something more relaxed. “So things are going well, then?” she asks before sipping her orange juice.
“That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you. I helped with the kids during the tournament and then I entered the date auction to make Hook jealous.”
“And it worked, no doubt?”
Emma nods her reassurance. “Like a charm. One of Hook’s rivals bid on me and almost won before Hook stepped in and completely outbid him.”
To Emma’s relief, Milah smiles with pride. “That’s great, Em.”
Emma unveils more details of last night as Milah constantly questions her decisions.
“You told him you’ve never worked with kids?!”
“What did you say after David questioned your motives?”
“Do we have to worry about this Nolan guy?”
Emma answers the best she can, hoping to ease her sister’s worries. “These people are nice and friendly, and they only care about Hook, but they know they can trust me.”
Milah crosses her arms, furrowing her brows. “Are you sure?”
“Yes, I’m sure. David and I were best friends by the end of the night.”
“Okay, good,” Milah sighs in relief. “So, what’s next?”
“Well, Hook asked me out on a date—a real date—and I said yes this time.”
Milah nods in approval. “And do you know where to?”
“All I know is he wants me to meet him at the Marina.”
“Oooh, so he’s taking you out on his yacht? How romantic,” Milah beams, her eyes dancing with excitement.
“Oh,” Emma utters, feeling stupid. She doesn’t know why on earth she hadn’t thought of that sooner. “Yeah, I suppose he is. He’s taking me tonight before he leaves for Ohio tomorrow.”
“That’s a good sign. He wants to see you before he leaves. Don’t forget—only a kiss on the cheek to—”
“To keep him wanting more, I know,” Emma finishes, rolling her eyes. “This isn’t my first rodeo.”
“True, but you’re used to watching the action from the stands. This is your first time riding the bull,” Milah reminds her, “but not literally, of course…” she warns sternly, pointing at her, and Emma blushes at the thought of riding Killian, and—no! She can not think about that… as much fun as Emma knows it would be. She shakes her head, closing her eyes briefly to rid the thoughts. “So, do you know what you’re wearing?” Milah asks, her eyes once again buzzing with excitement.
Emma laughs at her sister’s enthusiasm. “No, not yet.”
“That’s okay, we are going shopping,” Milah chants, clapping her hands.
$*$*$
Emma is cursing herself when she pulls up at the marina as the last traces of daylight make way for the warm, evening air. Her stomach is swarming and tightening with knots, and she inhales a deep breath when she gets out of the vehicle. Her hands are shaking as she tries to hold onto the small clutch in her hand. Why hadn’t she just listened to her sister?
Emma had enjoyed their shopping trip outside of Palm Beach and she had picked out a dress they were both sure would blow Killian away (without looking like a cheap hooker), but Milah had absolutely insisted she not shave her legs.
If you feel like a hairy gorilla you won’t even be tempted to have sex with Hook, Milah had stated while she was pinning up Emma’s hair.
She still can’t understand why Milah was so worried, especially when Emma is only allowed to kiss him on the cheek, for the first date anyway. So, of course, Emma hadn’t listened and she ended up shaving because she’d feel too icky with hairy legs. Plus, the dress is long—it’s a casual, yet formal off the shoulder white and pink floral dress—but it has a high slit, and Emma hates wearing panty hose. So even with sex off the table, there’s still the chance of Killian placing a hand on her knee, and she doesn’t want to take the risk of assuming he would absolutely not be going near her bare legs.
“You didn’t shave your legs, right?” Milah questions, planting her hands on her hips and offering her stern, mom glare as Emma pulls on her black high heels. Her lips are coated in red liquid lipstick per Milah’s request, to ensure Emma won’t be tempted to kiss him (unless she wants it to look like she vampired her date), her dress displays some skin without showing too much, and she’s wearing a pair of cute thongs with penguins on them, a pair she would never want a potential lover to see, but there is no way in hell she is going on this date with unshaven legs. “No, of course I didn’t,” she fibs. Once she gets the stilettos on, Milah hands Emma her shawl and clutch. “Good, because we wouldn’t want you to even be tempted to engage in anything more than a kiss on the cheek.“ Emma sighs and rolls her eyes, tilting her head. “You wanna feel up my legs for proof? While you’re at it you can frisk me too, to make sure I’m not wearing sexy lingerie under the dress instead of granny panties.” Milah flashes a sarcastic smirk, throwing the shawl around Emma’s shoulders and securing it in place. “That’s okay, I’ll take your word for it.” Emma shrugs. “Probably a good thing,” she begins, gracing her sister with a devilish smirk as she grabs her keys from the small end table next to the sofa, “cause I’m not wearing anything under the dress.” Milah throws her a deadly stare, tightening her jaw, and Emma laughs and shakes her head. “I’m messing with you, jeez.” She turns around, opening the door as she looks back at Milah. “I’m wearing a garter belt, so Hook at least has something to pull off of me,” she teases, clutching onto the knob as she starts to step out of the apartment, but not without casually adding, “or to leave on and grab onto—whichever he prefers.” With that, Emma moves quickly, shutting the door behind her before Milah has a chance to throw something at her.
As soon as Emma sees him, she immediately regrets her decision. This man is hot and dripping with sex, it’s really unfair. He’s wearing a burgundy waistcoat and a black shirt, exposing a provocative amount of chest hair, and a pair of black dress pants. His hair is artfully mused, and Emma’s thinking about all the things she wants to do to him. His thick, dark hair would be great for pulling, his bottom lip looks soft enough to kiss and bite, that vest looks somewhat difficult to get off (but possible), and those pants would look even better dropped around his ankles.
Her musings are quickly interrupted when he approaches, and her eyes snap to his face, catching the smoldering smirk plastered on his lips. He lifts a brow, his eyes spanning up and down her body at least three times, taking in everything she’s offering him without shame. She’s glad she’s not the only one appreciating the view in front of them.
“You look absolutely ravishing, Emma,” he says sincerely, taking her hand and placing a prolonged kiss to her skin.
Emma melts at the contact; his lips feel as soft as they look, and she’s reconsidering the possibility of him seeing her penguin panties. “And you look very handsome.” Emma blushes, feeling the tingling sensation still lingering on the spot he’d kissed; her entire body is alight from the warmness of his lips.
“Thank you, love.” Killian’s smiling shyly as he moves his other hand from behind his back, presenting her with a bouquet of freshly cut pink, purple and white roses.
Emma graces him with a soft smile and takes the flowers. “Thank you.”
“You’re very welcome, love,” he murmurs, offering a wink and his arm. “Our table’s waiting for us. Shall we?”
Emma wraps her fingers around his arm and lets him lead the way towards the pier as she lifts the roses to her nose, smelling them appreciatively. “The roses are beautiful.”
“Aye, they are, but they don’t hold a candle to you.”
Emma laughs. “Do you always use that line on women you date?”
“Are you implying that we’re dating now?” Killian asks with a subtle smirk as those damn blue eyes sparkle in the moonlight.
“There you go again, avoiding an answer by replying to my question with another question,” Emma teases, rolling her eyes.
Killian shrugs casually, “And there you go again, pointing out my quirks just to avoid answering my questions.”
“Well, we could go at this all night, so I will answer your question—I thought the agreement was if dating is still not my thing by the end of the night, I don’t have to go on another one with you.”
“I don’t recall using those words exactly. I said I wouldn’t ask you again,” he clarifies with a flirty lift of his brow. “Doesn’t mean you can’t still ask me.”
Emma laughs, her cheeks flushing with red. “You are nothing if not persistent.”
“That I am,” he agrees proudly.
Emma shakes her head and can’t stop the blossoming smile from gracing her lips. “I’ll tell you what, if you play your cards right, the possibilities are endless,” she promises, running her free hand over his chest.
“Fair enough,” he chuckles, his cheeks painted with blush.
As they near the water, Emma’s pretty certain they’ll be going into one of the restaurants around the area because as her eyes fall over the variety of moored boats and yachts, his is nowhere to be seen.
“Here’s our table.”
Apparently she’s not looking in the right direction because when she lifts her gaze, following his line of sight, her eyes land on his yacht.
Her mouth falls open in awe as she watches the majestic vessel glide across the water. She’s seen it before in broad daylight, but she hasn’t seen it at night all lit up, blue lights from the bottom of the boat illuminating the surface of the water.
“This is where we’ll be eating?”
“Aye, just the two of us.”
They step aboard when the yacht reaches the dock, and Killian leads her to the cockpit where there’s a dark haired man at the controls. “Emma, this is Smee. He will be navigating the yacht this evening.”
“Nice to meet you, m'lady,” he greets politely, his voice big and hearty as he shakes her hand. He’s even dressed in a white Naval uniform, and Emma can’t help the big smile blooming over her lips.
“You too.”
Killian gives her a tour of the yacht, the place he uses as an escape from everything else, and when they step onto the deck, there’s a romantic table set for two, lit candles, champagne and a string quartet playing violins. It reminds her of the ballroom, but this is a much more intimate setting and there are far less people.
“This is like our own personal cruise,” Emma remarks as Killian pulls out a chair for her.
“You could say that. But no worries, we’ll be back before the evening’s over.”
Emma takes the offered seat as he sits across from her. “You mean you’re not going to kidnap me and steal me away?” she teases playfully.
Killian lifts a quirky brow, smirking at her. “Don’t tempt me, darling. The idea of keeping you all to myself is quite appealing.”
A pleasant shiver skates down her spine under his burning stare as he grabs the champagne bottle. Emma has a feeling that going away with him wouldn’t be the worst idea ever.
“Would you like some champagne, love?”
Emma thinks about the question, knowing if Milah were there looking over her shoulder, she’d be telling her no, and that alcohol inhibits one’s ability to make good decisions. Last night was different because they were in a room full of people, but now they’re on the ocean with only a few others on board who are most likely being paid to give them privacy. But Emma decides she wants the evening to play out it’s natural course. “Sure, I’ll take some.”
Killian pours them both some of the bubbly liquid and lifts the covers from the platters of food, which he tells her he made himself. It’s seafood, which Emma has never really tried before, but once she tastes the shrimp and parmesan crusted Tilapia, she easily decides it’s delicious.
“I can’t believe you’ve never had fish before, love.”
Emma shrugs. “Well, I grew up in foster homes, so if I wanted fish, I had to catch it from the creek, gut it and cook it myself. And it certainly would not have tasted anything like this,” Emma states, taking another bite. The texture is soft and practically melts on her tongue.
Killian’s eyes flicker with guilt, his features falling in regret, and Emma swallows her food down quickly. Why did she have to bring up her dreary childhood?
“I hope you don’t mind all this. I just wanted to…” He pauses and she looks into his eyes, trying to read what he is thinking. “I’m not the type of person who likes to rub their wealth in other’s faces, I just wanted you to have a special evening.”
Emma takes his hand from over the table, soothing his knuckles with her thumb to ease his worries. “I didn’t think that at all about you. This is very special. No guy’s ever went all out for me before.” She really should not be surprised her first date with Killian is an enchanting one, if the previous evening was any indication. “If I could have dreamt up the perfect first date, this is better—way better—so thank you.”
“You’re very welcome.” Killian offers a small smile and brings her hand to his lips, pressing a kiss to her knuckles.
They change the subject and finish the rest of their dinner before moving on to dessert, talking and laughing under the stars.
Taking their champagne glasses with them, they eventually move to the patio sofa, gazing out across the ocean, and watching the flecks of white reflecting over the vast waters.
“I’m sorry if I dampened the mood earlier, talking about my depressing childhood,” Emma apologizes as he wraps an arm around her shoulder. “I’ve never done this whole dating thing before, so I’m not very good at it.”
“You’re better than you think, love,” he assures, reaching over to tuck a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
Emma gives him a feeble smile, but she’s still doubtful.
“If it makes you feel better, I don’t do this very often, so I don’t have much to compare it to.”
Emma lifts a brow, surprised by this. “You don’t go on a lot of dates?”
Killian shakes his head, looking down. “No, in fact I’ve never taken a woman on my yacht before.”
At that she has to laugh. “You’re joking, right?”
He lifts his eyes again, the intensity of his stare stealing her breath away. “Afraid not, love. I travel a lot, and when I am here in Palm Beach, the relationships I’ve been in have been short-lived.”
Emma takes a sip of her champagne, mulling on that thought for a moment. If those women left shortly after the relationship began, then they must have been scared off somehow. “Let me guess, David always weeds them out with his big brother speeches?”
Killian lets out a small laugh, nodding his head. “Some of them, but I’m normally good at judging if a woman is after me for my money… or if they’re only after me.”
Emma gulps thickly, wondering if he’s ever suspected her of this since they’ve met. “Have any of them been the latter?”
Killian’s stare pierces directly into her soul, and Emma can see the answer buried in his deep blues. She can see the pain he keeps hidden there, and it makes her heart ache. “No, they haven’t.” Killian takes her hand in his, resting both over her crossed leg. “Not until now.”
Emma’s heart flutters… at first. She can’t believe this man has poured so much trust into her already. She can’t believe someone like him actually likes her this much. She can’t believe any woman would not want the entire package that is Killian Jones. She can’t believe this man, this perfect man who is sweet and generous and rich—oh yeah, she can believe he would attract women who are only after his money, because she is one of them. Emma’s heart tightens. How can she do this to such a wonderful man? “I don’t know about that,” she mumbles quietly, her eyes dropping to their joined hands.
“What do you mean?” he inquires, soothing her thumb with the pad of his.
She looks up at him, a smile curving her lips. “I mean… there are many qualities about you to appreciate. You’re generous, you’re great with kids, you’re kind and you have a huge heart. You also know how to dance,” she adds with a laugh. “Is there anyone more perfect than you?”
Killian blushes, scratching behind his ear. “I wouldn’t say I’m perfect. Having a huge heart is not always a good thing.”
Her features fall at the sadness in his tone. “How so?”
“Because, I often leave my heart on my sleeve. Everything I do, I put my whole heart into. I don’t do things half-ass, if you couldn’t already sense that,” he chuckles.
Emma squeezes his hand, offering a frail smile. “Sounds like a good way to get your heart broken.”
“Aye, it is. So, I have to protect myself somehow, which usually means a lot of lonely nights.”
“Believe me, if there’s anyone who knows how to protect their heart, it’s me.”
Killian’s eyes flash with comprehension. “That’s why you’ve never been on a single date, then?”
Emma nods, her voice cracked as she answers, “Can’t get your heart broken if you keep it locked away.”
His eyes widen in surprise, and Emma thinks she may have given away too much. “But you’re taking a risk with me?”
She shrugs and removes her hand from his grasp, placing a palm on his arm. “What can I say, I’m an avid lover of poker who enjoys a little game of risk.”
“Really?” Killian asks with intrigue, lifting a brow.
Emma laughs. “Yes, and besides, you’re taking a risk with me. Why not take it together?”
The pools of his blue irises soften under Emma’s gaze as he offers a smile that makes her heart melt. “I can’t say I’ve ever played poker before, but I do like that idea, love.”
Emma’s smile dims, her features growing more serious. “I’ve spent my entire life running away, I’ve always been just an orphan wandering the planet with no place to call home, so maybe it’s time I changed that.”
Killian leans in caressing her cheek, his voice weak as he speaks. “I know what you mean. I’ve spent my entire life traveling, and it’s been far too long since I’ve actually had a home.”
“I don’t know, I think you’ve already found your home.”
Studying her eyes carefully, he lifts a brow, trying to discern what she’s saying. “You mean here in Palm Beach? I’m not sure about that. I’m not even here very much.”
“No, not Palm Beach. Home is not always a place. Being home is being with the people you love, and you have that wherever you go—Mary Margaret, David, Robin, Regina, Henry…”
“And what about you? Do you have a person to call home?”
Of course Emma’s answer is yes. Her sister is and always will be her home, but she can’t tell Killian that, as much as she wishes she could. “No, I don’t.”
Killian’s eyes fall to her lips, and he leans in slowly, placing his finger under her chin, his thumb grazing her jaw. “Well, then you’re right. Perhaps we can do something about that.”
Emma longs to feel his lips on hers, and she knows she shouldn’t kiss him, but God she wants to. Kilian moves in, and she’s glad the string quartet had left the deck after dinner. He pauses, making sure she wants this too, so she closes the rest of the distance between them and goes after his lips.
An abrupt screeching sound from across the water makes Emma gasp, and the big boom and colors erupting into the sky make her jump.
They both look towards the source of the interruption, watching the fireworks shoot up into the sky and explode, lighting up the black night.
“Come on, love.” He stands up, grabs her hand and leads her to the railing. Emma trails behind him, keeping her eyes on the display across the water. She lets go of his hand and stands in front of him, her elbows leaning on the rail, her gaze focused on the fireworks.
Wondering how the night could possibly get better than this, she feels the touch of his hand gliding up her arm, leaving goosebumps in his wake. She feels his breath on her skin as he whispers in her ear, “You cold, love?”
Emma smiles with devilry, nuzzling her head against his lips. “What if I am?”
Killian chuckles against her, his voice sending a pleasant shiver down her spine as he takes her hands, threading his fingers through Emma’s and encircling her in his arms. “Do you always use this tactic to get men to wrap their arms around you?”
Emitting a small laugh, she closes her eyes and sighs in content, enjoying his warm embrace. “So what if I do? It worked, didn’t it?”
“Like a charm.” Killian’s voice is smooth as silk, sending vibrations through her body.
“Actually, I’ve never really craved having a man’s arms around me before,” she admits, loud enough for him to hear over the fireworks.
“Never?”
She shakes her head. “Never.”
“And what changed?”
Emma leans her head back, angling her face towards him and murmuring softly in his ear, “I met you.”
She hears his breath catch and faces the ocean again as he tightens his hold around her, pressing his lips against her lobe. As much as she’s not supposed to allow him to effect her like this, Emma is overtaken with warmth from such a small affection, and she has to bite her bottom lip to refrain from making any sounds of pleasure.
When he turns his head, the stubble on his jaw scrapes against her skin, and immediately she feels the loss of his lips. She tries to focus on the fireworks, but his warm body pressed to her back and his strong arms wrapped around her frame inhibits her ability to think clearly. The heat is surging between them, but it has nothing to do with the warmth of the summer air.
Emma tries to adjust her focus on the game plan, but instead she can’t concentrate on anything but Killian’s hands entwined in hers, and the way his chest moves against her back with every shaky breath he takes. Emma leans her head back again and places a kiss on his cheek. She can feel him quiver against her body, the smell of his skin overwhelming her senses. Another round of fireworks screech above the water, and Emma decides to throw her promise to Milah overboard.
She reaches behind his head, sliding her fingers through his hair and bringing his lips to hers.
Given their recent luck, she’s half expecting to get interrupted, but instead, she’s finally feeling those delicate, soft lips on hers as he parts his mouth, responding to her advances. He tastes even better than she’d imagined, and she can’t bring herself to pull away. Sliding her tongue into his mouth and tasting the sweetness of his, she tugs on his hair to press him closer.
Once he lets a little groan tear from his throat, Emma is officially a goner. She spins around in his arms, cupping his cheeks in her hands as the kiss rapidly becomes heated, both of them breathing each other in. Killian’s hands are soon all over her back, and everything Emma keeps tamed inside her—emotions, desire, the way she has genuinely grown to care about him—erupts to the surface.
The fireworks are long forgotten.
Emma moans as he presses her against the railing, and rips his lips away, the prickly stubble around his mouth dragging across her skin as he leaves an assault of kisses in his wake, causing her head to spin. Making a trail across her jaw, he reaches her ear, speaking in a low, husky voice, “Do you trust me, Swan?”
Emma’s not sure exactly what he means by that—does she trust him not to take things too far? Or does she trust him not to break her heart? She’s not really sure, but she nods her head anyway.
Emma gasps in surprise when he lifts her up and sits her on the railing. He urges her knees apart and moves in, pulling her legs around his waist, his lips crashing into hers. Now she understands what he’d meant, because he has to hold her securely in his arms to keep her from falling off the railing and into the dark waters. And now she’s glad she’d shaved her legs.
Their bodies move instinctively, his groin pressing against her center as they eagerly devour each other. Despite the fireworks still going off behind her, their muffled moans, heavy breathing and the sounds of their lips smacking together are all they can hear.
Emma releases his lips and buries her face in the crook of his neck, leaving seductive kisses down the column of his throat. He dips his head back to allow her more access as she clutches onto him tightly, but it’s not because she’s afraid of falling. She’s wanted this man since the moment she’d laid eyes on him.
“Love, we shouldn't…” His slurred words are completely wrecked as she pulls back, struggling to catch her breath. “We should stop.”
She nods in agreement, licking her lips to savor the taste of him. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have—”
Killian offers a lazy smirk. “Please, don’t apologize. That was uh…” Killian stammers, scratching behind his ear.
Emma laughs when she sees the red lipstick on his mouth and wipes it off with her thumb. The possibility of her makeup rubbing off on him had completely escaped her after dinner, even though she knew the lipstick choice wasn’t made to last through everything.
“If we continue any further we might end up making fireworks of our own.”
Sharing a laugh, both are blushing profusely as Killian helps her down from the railing.
“If I’m being honest, I really like you, Emma,” he admits earnestly, and his words crack as he gazes into her eyes, “and I don’t want to screw this up by taking things way too fast.”
Emma stares back at him, and cups his cheeks in her hands, whispering into his ear, “I like you too.”
Killian smiles, caressing her cheek. She turns around in his arms after a moment and they watch the remainder of the fireworks display. They spend the rest of the evening dancing as he tells her about the upcoming tour, both of them deciding it’s best not to tempt fate by kissing again.
The night ends far too soon, and once the boat reaches the marina, Killian wraps Emma’s shawl around her shoulders and grabs her clutch and bouquet of roses, handing them over to her after Emma insists she can carry them herself.
Smee emerges from the cockpit as they’re about to leave, and his cheeks fill with blush when he looks at Killian. “Uh, Captain, you have uh…” he stammers, gesturing to his neck.
Their faces fall in confusion as she looks at Killian to see what Smee is referring to.
“What is it, love?”
“We seem to have missed a spot. There’s still some lipstick on your neck,” she laughs and pulls out a tissue from her purse. Taking his jaw in her hand, she wipes his neck clean, his breath hitching at her touch and their eyes connecting intensely.
“You both enjoyed the evening, I take it?” the man remarks with a smirk.
“We did, indeed,” Killian blushes and smiles as she gets off any of the remaining red and tears her eyes away from him to tuck the tissue back into her purse. “I’ll be escorting Emma to her car now. Could you—”
“No, worries. I’ll take care of the Jolly and tuck her in,” he reassures with a wink and a friendly pat on Killian’s shoulder.
“Thank you, Smee. You’re the best.”
“No problem. Have a good night, Miss Swan. It was nice meeting you.”
“You too. Goodnight.”
Killian and Emma leave the yacht and walk to her car, their hands entwined as she takes stock of the evening. She can’t remember ever having as much fun as she did tonight, and she’s sad he is leaving tomorrow.
“So, what do you think, love? Would you be willing to give dating a try? With me of course,” he adds with a small laugh when they reach her vehicle.
Pursing her lips in contemplation, she steps closer to him, fluttering her lashes flirtatiously and tilting her head. “I suppose I could. I had a really nice time tonight.”
“I’m glad… because I was hoping…” Killian begins softly as he takes her free hand in his. He opens his mouth to finish his sentence, but appears to be hesitant to continue.
“You were hoping what?” she questions a bit nervously, her words laced with concern.
Killian’s lips twitch into a small smile and he says simply, “Come with me.”
Her eyebrows weave, displaying her confusion. “What?”
“Tomorrow, when I leave for Ohio… I want you to come with me.”
Emma’s mouth falls open; she’s not sure what to say to that. They’ve made a lot of progress so far, but she doesn’t want to ruin anything by going with him just yet. It’s far too soon in the game. Besides, Milah would never allow it. Emma had already gone too far by kissing him, and she knows she’ll receive the wrath from Milah as it is. “But… what happened to taking things slowly?”
“Emma, I’m not proposing marriage, I’m just asking you to accompany me on the tour. You’ll have your own hotel suite and you won’t have to worry about the expenses. I’ll make sure you have everything you need for the trip. I just… I would very much like your company and I’m not sure when I will see you again otherwise.”
Emma gulps thickly. She had anticipated going with him, just not this soon and not without any type of notice. “I… I’m sorry, I just… I have obligations here,” she manages. “I have my job, I can’t just up and leave.”
Killian’s features fall slightly, his eyes flickering with disappointment as he offers a weak smile. “Of course, love. I understand. It was a shot in the dark, but I had to take it.”
Emma offers a reassuring grin, reaching a hand to caress his jaw. “It’s okay. I will miss you when you’re gone though.” She extends her hand to him, adding, “Let me see your phone.”
Killian quickly reaches into the pocket of his jacket and pulls out his phone, handing it over.
Quickly keying in her number, she adds it to his contact list. “There, now you have my number. Will you call me?”
Killian nods as Emma hands his phone back. “Of course I will.”
She leans in, capturing his lips and luring him in for a deep kiss. One of his hands curl around her hip, the other sliding through her hair, and their lips and tongues move slowly, memorizing the feel and texture of one another, making the moment last before having to break apart.
Killian groans in content, he bites her bottom lip and slowly releases it, pulling away and resting his forehead on hers. She licks her lips, clutching onto the lapels of his jacket, whispering breathlessly, “Goodbye, Killian. And good luck.”
Killian smiles, his blue eyes glittering under the moonlight as he caresses her cheek with his thumb. “Thank you, love. Goodnight.”
She reluctantly lets him go and gets in her car when he pulls the door open for her. But before he closes it, he hunches over slightly to catch her gaze, a trace of hope lingering in his eyes. “If you change your mind, takeoff from the airport is at 8 a.m. tomorrow. I’ll text you the address just in case, and I’ll wait for you at the terminal.”
Emma offers a soft smile and nods as he shuts the door. They wave at one another as she drives away, and a strange feeling courses through her body. She feels as light as a feather, her lips still tingling and her body buzzing with nerves and excitement. But she’s also feeling guilty, and her heart is swelling inside her chest; she really doesnt know what to do with all these emotions. She does know one thing for sure; for the first time since she and Milah had started conning, Emma doesn’t want the mark to get hurt. She doesn’t want him to suffer any more than he already has. For the first time in her life, she is falling for her mark.
Crap. She’s totally fucked!
