I played street fighter games w my family as a kid but didn't really get into the story until this year. Vega was my sister's main as a kid and became my fav when I looked into his backstory. He's just sooooooooo .

I think your post rewired something in my brain, because before, I def appreciated the tragedy of his past, but I never considered how a healing arc could go for him. Just couldn't picture it. But Ryu and Ken are PERFECT for this and maybe the only ones to say 'I could fix him' and succeed. And I think he adds something to their dynamic as well.

Vegaryuken is something that can only be understood with a certain degree of autism and a very specific thought pipeline. That pipeline being "Vega very obviously has an incredibly gay one-sided Thing for Ken (mentioned in my last vega art dump). What if it wasn't one-sided though. Well Ken cannot exist without being in love with Ryu. Ryu is a big sweet baby and his giant baby cow eyes and gentle soul are hard not to fall in love with though, so maybe I can make this work. Maybe I should look through all of their quotes to each other to see if there's anything there (there's a japanese line where Ryu tells Vega that he hopes their meeting will be a chance to get to know each other btw). Upon looking at the quotes I've decided that Ken and Ryu could easily take Vega in like some kind of fucked up shivering blood-soaked stray cat. Ryu can teach him that physical beauty is ultimately irrelevant and that A Beautiful Soul is what really counts. A single kind gesture would change him. They can fix him."

According to a Q&A for New Generation characters, Ken goes to church with his family on Sundays. As a normal course of action I drew him suffering religious guilt + internalized homophobia over not being straight because nobody else was going to. Feat. Healing via vegaryuken because I can't make him suffer too much

Rambling about Vega, his various mental issues and gay problems, featuring vegaryuken. Copied from a discord dm, edited in my notes app, pasted here to tumblr dot com for all the vegaheads and like, 2 other enjoyers of the ship to see. And hopefully tumblr won't ruin the formatting and scramble the entire post again. Enjoy

I think Vega has trouble correctly identifying his emotions. Like they get jumbled together and it's hard for him to recognize just what it is when he's feeling a bunch of things at once. And because he's Vega it all just gets translated into I Need To Fucking Kill You

Because of their 87 gay tension encounters Vega very obviously desires Ken biblically. But he also wants attention from him and when he doesn't get it he's Upset. And he gets jealous and angry at everyone Ken does give attention to (Eliza, Chun-Li, probably Ryu but we'll get to that later). So he tries to fight Ken to "win their affections" even though it's really just Ken that he wants. Intricate rituals just so another man will touch him etc etc. So there's too many emotions at play and it all gets blended into one mess. He wants Ken to give him attention and he's jealous of people close to him and hates them because he's not them and he hates Ken for not reciprocating and he's angry at himself for having feelings and caring about someone as stupid and ugly and beautiful as Ken Masters. Well. What can a Vega do with these overwhelming feelings but claw everyone to death about it. After all he does love killing and maiming and licking blood from his claw as a way to bring peace to his mind (← canon info)

Tldr he's angry and touch starved and wants to be loved and is a little bit of a whore. And he never was allowed to properly feel and regulate his emotions so he can't tell the difference.

He probably goes after Ryu too once he realizes ken is in love with him. But Ryu, big sweetheart that he is, is at one with his heart and emotions and is able to be like "Hey. Lets talk about this. What's troubling you so much. Lets sit down and breathe :)" and eventually gets him to be very very pathetic and spill everything. Its okay Vega it's not your fault

god the ken art was like. so relatable as a bi trans person with two partners who would basically be put under the "similar/same gender" umbrella by homophobic/biphobic pastors lmao it HURT. also a suggestion: vegaryuken is cute (like how jurinat is also about redemption and healing from being a bad person and stuff on juri's end) but like...have you considered DANryuken. though i'm unsure what exact flavors of lgbt you headcanon dan as considering i headcanon them as a genderfluid (whether they're on low dose estrogen or low dose testosterone is up to you because it varies for me as well) gray ace gray aro pansexual/romantic/everything else (also uses bi but prefers pan because erm. have you seen them. they like dan tat because it uses the hanzi for his name afaik in cantonese so of course they'd label themself a sexuality label rhyming wtih their own name)

And I am so very sorry.... I haven't considered much of anything about Dan... I don't have any particular headcanons for him but I do think he's very silly! I like him! And I think him and Blanka kiss on the regular! LOW QUALITY SCREENSHOT GO

As for danryuken... I think it could be silly! I do enjoy a healthy dose of multishipping... But vegaryuken (and any variations of it like vega/ken vega/ryu ryu/ken) will always be my #1....
