BEHEMOTH's NERGAL Is Ready To Collaborate With ROB HALFORD On Black Metal Project: 'I'm Just Waiting For His Call'

BEHEMOTH frontman Adam "Nergal" Darski says that he is definitely open to the idea of collaborating with JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford and EMPEROR's Ihsahn on a black metal project. "I'm just waiting for [Rob's] call," Nergal told Elliott Fullam of Little Punk People in a brand new interview (see video below). "I mean, if he says, 'Hey, I'm ready', if we're touring with SLAYER again ever or METALLICA, I have to drop that tour and just fucking run to Phoenix, or wherever Rob is living, and fucking work my ass off to bring the best song I can afford, so he can sing there. And I'm trying to sound funny, but the truth is that me and Ihsahn would love to do some music and we would love for Rob Halford to do some vocals over it. That'd be... that'd be beyond cool." Asked if he has ever met Rob, Nergal said: "Yes, we met a couple of times. We just met at Wacken, a German festival, a couple of weeks ago. Again he was super cool, very friendly. One of the most humble human beings you'll meet ever is him. And considering his status, who he is, what he did to this genre, to heavy metal, it only makes you even a bigger fan of that person." Halford has long spoken about wanting to work on a black metal album, revealing more than a decade ago that he had discussions with Ihsahn about doing something together. Earlier this year, he told Noisey that he still hopes something will happen in the future. "The black metal project!" he said. "It keeps being about to lift the launchpad, but it never quite gets anywhere. I met Nergal from BEHEMOTH recently, and I said, 'You know I love your kind of music. I would love to kind of put my toe into the water and see what would happen.' "So now I've got these two very nebulous, but I hope at some point very real opportunities, to do something with Nergal and still something to with Ihsahn. "'Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk' — that's my big EMPEROR album. Both of them are incredible; they just have this real mastery of their world." Ihsahn, whose real name is Vegard Sverre Tveitan, told Finland's Kaaos TV that he would love to collaborate with Halford on a black metal project. "I actually talked with Rob about this project… He approached me… that's quite a long time ago," Ihsahn said. "I think I met him the first time in 2001 or something. But, of course, as he said in so many interviews as well, the situation with him being back in PRIEST since that time, and my schedule, doing both bands [EMPEROR and the solo project], it's one of those things. But at some point, that would be great. When the god of metal calls, that's not something you want to miss." He continued: "Then [Rob] met Nergal from BEHEMOTH as well, and he [discussed a possible collaboration with him as well]… Because he's a big fan of black metal — Rob — so at some point, he just wants to do something, as I said, tip his toe in the water with that kind of expression. So if time allows and fate will make it happen, and, for example, me, Nergal and Rob would come together — Nergal from BEHEMOTH is also someone that I have great respect for, a great artist — I think that would be amazing." Ihsahn went on to say that if the project with Rob and Nergal does come to fruition, all three musicians would want to invest the time and effort to make it truly special. "It's not something that you just would throw together, because I think those kinds of collaborations where it's just putting names [on an album don't work]," he explained. "You need to do it proper. And I think all of us, the way I know them, I think that's their mindset [as well], where [we all think] it would have to be done properly. I think we would be very much on the same page on that."

Οι πιο Evil Metal μπάντες εκεί έξω

Λόξα ήταν και πάει. Μια βαριά αλυσίδα στα λαιμά μας, εμάς που μεγαλώσαμε στα 90’s, early 00’s. Τότε που για αρκετό κόσμο, metal και σατανισμός βαδίζανε χεράκι-χεράκι.

Τότε που η φράση: «Πώς ακούς αυτούς τους σατανάδες;», χωρίς οι ίδιοι φυσικά να μπουν στον κόπο να ακούσουν και να ξεχωρίσουν τη διαφορά.

Για να λέμε την αλήθεια, οι Iron Maiden με τον Eddie να προκαλεί έως σήμερα (!), ήταν από τους πρωτεργάτες στις «σατανικές απεικονίσεις» όταν μιλάμε για top bands, αφού συχνά-πυκνά έβαζαν και του Lucifer-άκο κάπου εκεί κοντά. Αλλά αυτό ήταν ένα image.

Αλλά αν εξερευνήσουμε την underground σκηνή, κυρίως στην extreme metal σκηνή, υπάρχουν μπάντες που έμοιαζαν περισσότερο αλληλένδετες με τους 9 κύκλους της κόλασης και το Evil Metal έσταζε από τα μάτια τους, άσχετα αν όντως πιστεύανε ή ήταν επίσης, ένας τρόπος marketing για να ακουστούν περισσότερο.

Πάμε να δούμε τις 10 Evil Metal, που είναι ακόλουθοι του διαόλου κανονικά και με το νόμο.

WATAIN

Οι Watain, είναι μια black metal μπάντα που ιδρύθηκε το 1998, Σουηδική κατά την καταγωγή. Έχουν 3 κύρια μέλη, ενώ στα live shows τους έχουν και περισσότερα

Είναι πλέον γνωστοί για τις αντιλήψεις τους μιας και όταν τους βλέπεις δεν τους λες και παιδιά του κατηχητικού. Η σκηνική τους παρουσία απαρτίζεται από πυροτεχνήματα, κεριά, σατανικές τελετουργίες και πτώματα ζώων.

Μάλιστα, σε μια συναυλία τους είχαν περιλούσει το κοινό τους με αίμα ζώων, κάτι που έκανε πολλούς από κάτω να ξερνάνε. Σίγουρα όλο αυτό δεν φαίνεται να έχει αντίκτυπο στη μπάντα αφού ο frontman της μπάντας έχει δηλώσει πως η μπάντα είναι βασισμένη πάνω στη προσωπική τους πρακτική και τη θρησκεία τους ως σατανιστές.

BEHEMOTH

Οι Behemoth, η Blackened Death Metal μπάντα που ιδρύθηκε το 1991 στην Πολωνία και θεωρείται ότι έχει σημαντικό ρόλο στην εξάπλωση και διαμόρφωση του Extreme Metal Underground ήχου, έχουν σκηνική παρουσία αντίστοιχη της μουσικής που παίζουν.

Ο frontman όμως της μπάντας, Nergal άλλες φορές δηλώνει πως: «Έχω το σατανά μέσα μου, κυλάει στις φλέβες μου και μέσα στα τραγούδια μου».

Και άλλες φορές πως του αρέσει ο Σατανάς σε λογοτεχνικό επίπεδο καθώς ο ίδιος ο Nergal, είναι άθεος.

Μάλιστα…

GORGOROTH

Νορβηγοί black μεταλλάδες που ιδρύθηκαν το 1992 από τον κιθαρίστα Infernus,ο οποίος παραμένει από τότε ενεργό μέλος της μπάντας.

Η μπάντα έχει 9 album στο ενεργητικό της και όπως και οι προηγούμενοι metalheads, έτσι και αυτοί κάνουν live-υπερπαραγωγές, με φλόγες και αιματοβαμμένα πρόσωπα και άλλα πολλά

O Infernus έχει δηλώσει πως ο σατανάς είναι τα θεμέλια και αυτοί είναι συνεχιστές μέσω της δουλειάς τους

MAYHEM

Επίσης Νορβηγοί black μεταλλάδες από το Όσλο συγκεκριμένα, με έτος ίδρυσης το μακρινό 1984. Οι Mayhem θεωρούνται οι πατέρες της κατηγορίας του black metal.

Ο Euronymous,ο κιθαρίστας της μπάντας, ο οποίος και απεβίωσε το 1993 σε ηλικία μόλις 25 ετών, είχε πει πως:

«Πιστεύω σε έναν διάλο με κέρατα, έναν προσωποποιημένο σατανά. Κατά τη γνώμη μου, όλες οι άλλες “μορφές” σατανισμού, είναι απλά μαλακίες».

DEICIDE

Αμερικανοί Death Metalheads, ιδρυμένοι το 1987,από τον Glen Benton τραγουδιστή και μπασίστα των Deicide και από τον ντράμερ Steve Asheim

Η φων�� της μπάντας Benton, είχε δηλώσει μια φορά πως:

«Ο σατανισμός είναι εκείνη η σύνδεση που έχεις με τον πνευματικό σου άρχοντα, στην προσπάθειά σου να τον ευχαριστήσεις», πριν μερικά χρόνια αργότερα πει: «Είμαστε μια γαμημένη σπορά εξωγήινων, όλα τα άλλα είναι μαλακίες».

DARK FUNERAL

Σουηδική black metal μπάντα από τη Στοκχόλμη, με έτος ίδρυσης το 1993 από τους κιθαρίστες Blackmoon και Lord Ahriman.

Η μπάντα είναι γνωστή για τους στίχους της περί σατανισμού και αντιχριστιανισμού.

«Είμαι ελιτιστής και die hard σατανιστής, οπότε η γνώμη μου για τις θρησκείες και τους χριστιανούς είναι αρκετά φανερή», είχε δηλώσει ο κιθαρίστας Lord Ahriman.

DISSECTION

Οι επίσης Σουηδοί, αλλά Extreme Metalheads Dissection, από το 1989, με ιδρυτή τον Jon Nödtveidt, ο οποίος ήταν κιθαρίστας, τραγουδιστής αλλά και ο κύριος στιχουργός της μπάντας και από τον μπασίστα Peter Palmdahl.

Άλλαξαν πολλές φορές το line-up κατά καιρούς για να βρουν αυτό που τους ταιριάζει, έτσι και οι Dissection, έπραξαν το ίδιο. Μέσα σε αυτές τις αλλαγές, η μπάντα κατάφερε να κυκλοφορήσει τα The Somberlain το 1993 και το Storm Of The Light’s Bane, το 1995, ενώ δύο χρόνια μετά το 1997, η μπάντα διαλύθηκε λόγω της καταδίκης του Jon Nödtveidt , o οποίος φερόταν να είναι συνεργός στη δολοφονία του Josef Meddour.

Παρόλα αυτά όμως, ο Nödtveidt είχε δηλώσει πως:

«Σαν σατανιστής που είμαι, σέβομαι όλες τις σοβαρές πρακτικές του σατανισμού».

MARDUK

Οι θρυλικοί Black Metal μπάντα από τη Σουηδία, Marduk το 1992, δυο χρόνια μετά την ίδρυση της έβγαλε και το πρώτο της Album Dak Endless. Η μπάντα ιδρύθηκε από τον κιθαρίστα Morgan “Evil” Steinmeyer Håkansson, ο οποίος είχε σκοπό να κάνει τους Marduk τη πιο “βλάσφημη μπάντα του κόσμου”.

«Οι σατανικές πεποιθήσεις και η αφοσίωση σε αυτό το σκοπό. Αυτό σε κάνει black metal», είχε δηλώσει το μυαλό πίσω από την ιδέα.

IHSAHN (EMPEROR/SOLO)

Ο Ihsahn, Νορβηγός ο οποίος είναι γεννημένος το 1975 ως Vegard Sverre Tveitan, είναι συνθέτης, γνώστης πολλών μουσικών οργάνων και τραγουδιστής.

Αν και με τη πρώτη ματιά δεν σου φαίνεται για σατανιστής, σίγουρα οι αντιλήψεις του και τα πιστεύω του θα σε κάνουν να αλλάξεις γνώμη στα άψε σβήσε.

«Αυτή είναι βασικά η νοοτροπία πίσω από το σατανισμό μου. Η ατομική, σκληρή, έξυπνη και εξουσιαστική».

VITAL REMAINS

Οι Αμερικανοί Death Metaheads που ιδρύθηκαν το 1988 στο Providence, Rhode Island από τον κιθαρίστα Paul Flynn, ανήκουν προφανώς και αυτοί στη κατηγορία με τις πιο Evil Metal μπάντες εκεί έξω

O Tony Lazaro, κιθαρίστας και αυτός της μπάντας είχε δηλώσει πως:

«Είναι η ζωή μου και ο λόγος που είμαι εδώ. Να παίξω brutal μουσική και να αφήσω το σατανικό μου σημάδι μέσω της μουσικής μας».
