the more we learn about the calamity across campaigns, the more it seems like Matt is eventually building up to a calamity 2.0
#I don't think it'll happen in C3#I think it's a long con#maybe not calamity 2.0 exactly but something similar#in every campaign theres a threat of a new or old god returning to wreak havoc on exandria... so in a way each campaign averts a calamity#but maybe matt plans for one of these campaigns to end with the protags failing#or its up to the dice but he has certain pre-planned events that will be set in motion that are consistent across campaigns#for a world-ending event#and a new campaign to start with the board essentially wiped clean#each campaign introduces a villain from further back in history#according to cr wiki at least#vecna came before aeor but in c2 they have to also prevent the chained oblivion from being released#and now with predathos we're seeing a villain that first appeared before the age of arcanum#I wonder....#it all feel connected in a very ephemeral way#like there's certain actors we havent met yet in exandria pulling more strings than they should#what is going on with these solstices?!#critical role#critical role fan theories#I don't believe we've seen the last of asmodeus either#not after exu calamity
