Spent the afternoon downtown on a cousin date with @katherinee.barfield #ArkVCA is a stunning and dramatic immersive exhibition of one of a kind pieces by @vancleefarpels The concept, Noah’s Ark, was inspired by Jan Brueghel the Elder’s “The Entry of Animals into Noah’s Ark”. Robert Wilson dreamed up the concept and design. You walk into a room that has classical music playing, flooring the carpet of the deep blue sea, a tiny ark hanging from the ceiling and four walls covered in lights that pattern water to the skyline and cubes within the wall holding 2 animals in each box, no two pieces alike, sculpted from the finest diamonds, sapphires, jade, and more. It was a stunning experience. After a few minutes the music would be interrupted by thunder followed by darkness, lightening, and the sounds of rain coming down. The video in these images give you an idea of the experience. If you have time i highly recommend you attend. Katie and i walked around looking at the pieces and reminiscing of our grandmother that loved her jewelry, especially her broaches.
