Hello I hope you’re having a good day/night!
Not sure if your looking for request or ideas but thought I’d throw this out there in case you are.
Yoru and reader who recently got together get into an argument because he hardly acknowledges her in front of the others. Reader thinks it’s because he is ashamed of her. While in truth Yoru is just anxious about getting teased or causing reader to have a bad reputation or anything like that.
Anyways reader goes on a mission a few hours later, still angry, and gets seriously hurt. Once Yoru finds out, he freaks out. Angst to hurt/comfort
If you don’t like this then that’s fine and I don’t blame you at all XD.
Are you KIDDING ME? I LOVE THIS IDEA. But damn, ya’ll like angst a lil too much it’s concerning. Thankfully I enjoy making them so that makes me worse. We’re all mentally ill here in the imkillerbae blog. And yes, I am looking for requests. Keep requesting!! It keeps me motivated.

Weak (Part 1) (Valorant Yoru x Fem!Reader)
Part 2
You picked your loadout for the mission, gripping the Vandal with so much force you can hear your gloves grinding against the metal, scratching the paint. You huffed and forced the clip inside the gun with a smack from your wrist, strapping it to yourself. Your eyebrows were still furrowed, ears almost releasing steam. Harbor and Viper look at each other, then back at you.
“Is everything alright kid?” Harbor asks with a smile, concerned. You blow your hair away from your face and clutch the gun tightly. “Yeah,” you spat.
Fuck Yoru. Fuck him. I hope he chokes on his own ego.
You thought it was a good thing, to leave for a mission carrying anger with you. You could’ve used it against the mirror agents, maybe shoot Yoru’s double in the head for good measure. But as fate would have it, that wasn’t the case.
A few hours ago, there was a mission briefing on the 3rd floor, in a large room with chairs placed around a long oval table. Large monitors were positioned on every side, as well as mission briefing papers. You were late because you had to attend to some personal needs of yours. Little did you know, the others that came too early were discussing something else.
“What did Brim say about Raze though?” You heard Phoenix ask. You hide behind the doorway and listen, smiling to yourself. You wanted to spook them.
“Well, let’s say that he wasn’t too happy at first. Not because he doesn’t support us, but because he doesn’t think it’s smart to have relationships with fellow agents. But of course, we know how much of a loverboy that old man is.” KJ giggled.
“Really? He’s not into us dating each other? That seems unfair.” Phoenix complains, and you can almost hear him pout. “It’s a big risk. A collapse in a relationship between people has a ripple effect. It’s not as linear as you think.” Sova comments.
“Well what about you and Y/N, Yoru? Does Brim know? At least he has a clue about me and Jett. Haven’t heard any comments though.”
As you heard that, you blushed. You and Yoru only started dating 2 weeks ago. Well, dating in its broadest sense. You and him shared mutual feelings for each other for a long time now, maybe even ever since you got into the protocol.
“Still below me in target practice? Cmon Y/N, I know you can do better,” he would tease, laying his elbow on your head just to further humiliate you with your shortness. You try to punch his side playfully, and he dodges, smirk getting wider.
“Wipe that smirk off of your face. You haven’t seen the last of me yet Yoru.” You rolled your eyes, smiling before turning to the range. “Wipe if off for me then,” he huffs, bending down and smiling to your face. You didn’t know whether you wanted to punch him or kiss him. Maybe a bit of both.
Somehow your banter turned into flirting, and before you knew it, he was confessing his love for you. That was two weeks ago, when you were both assigned to scout an area. You’ve known him for a while now, and you always knew him as curt and upfront. But that day, you saw him as someone who was shy, someone who was scared of his own heart.
“Sumanai. I don’t know why I feel this way, and I don’t wanna hassle you. But I can’t keep this to myself anymore. I’ve been meaning to tell you that I love you Y/N. I love you.”
Most importantly, someone who gathered up the courage to be vulnerable enough to hand their heart to someone else.
“We’re not a thing,” Yoru replied coldly to Phoenix, and you heard your heart shatter from the piercing words.
“Huh? Wait I thought you two were dating,” KJ sounded surprised, mainly because you told her everything about you and Yoru. “No? We’re not dating, where did you even get that idea.” He huffs, crossing his arms. “I don’t know? You guys are inseparable, you always look for each other, the nicknames? That kinda gave it away,” Phoenix reasons.
“Nope, nothing’s going on between us. Cmon guys, don’t be crazy.” You decided that you’ve heard enough and came out from behind the wall, smiling with gritted teeth. You didn’t see it, but Yoru tensed immediately as he heard you speak. You give them a smile, taking your seat next to Sova.
“Alright, ready up! Everyone take their seats,” Brimstone enters the room, Viper beside him. Sage was on vacation, you suddenly remember.
“Y/N?” KJ calls, eyeing you. Are you okay? She says with her eyes, and you nod. “Oh man, sorry, I didn’t mean to stir anything here. Was just curious, I swear.” Phoenix held his hands up as he sensed how tense Yoru was. He just made a huge mistake. He didn’t mean for you to hear those lies he made up.
He stood from his seat on the table to sit next to you but he was immediately stopped. “Gekko! Can you sit next to me please? I wanna play with Wingman before I deploy. To calm the jitters ya know?” You smiled at the green haired boy, and he eagerly smiles back. “Sure! Wingman likes you a lot anyways. Save me a seat buddy!” He releases Wingman, and he dashes across the table, saving the seat for Gekko. For a moment, you met eyes with Yoru, and he gave you a glare, while you returned it with a side-eye.
Yoru instead sits across you, but during the entire meeting, you did not look at him. You only hugged Wingman as he slept in your arms, listening to Brimstone and Gekko’s flustered mess of jokes. Yoru in turn just sat there, miserable, watching you flirt with a tennis ball. He wanted to kick Gekko’s head off his shoulders at that moment.
After the meeting, you immediately stood up from your seat (after excusing yourself from Gekko and Wingman of course) and quickly walked to the elevator, trying to avoid Yoru. He catches up with you as you enter it, pressing on the B1st floor button rapidly. As it closes, he slips in a teleportation orb in the elevator. And before you could blink, he was already towering over you.
“Don’t talk to me,” you spat, glaring at him with so much anger you could burn a hole in between his eyes. Your eyes watered as you glared, fists clenched and ready to hit him if he ever took a step closer. His look softens. He didn’t mean to hurt you.
“Y/N, listen—”
“Listen? Seriously?! I listened plenty an hour ago! ‘We’re not a thing,’ then what are we? What am I? Some sort of toy you play with when it’s convenient?”
“No you’re not. Listen, I didn’t want them to know—”
“I know damn well why. I’m not as strong as Skye, or as pretty as Neon. I’m the girl you settled for. I’m not enough to inflate that huge ego of yours.”
“What?” Now he was also getting angry, the blood rising from his neck. “Hang on, what the fuck are you implying? That I’m ashamed of you?” His voice rises, a fist landing above your head with a loud bang. You flinch, but don’t let it show.
“As if that wasn’t obvious already. You barely acknowledge me anytime we’re with the others but morph into someone else when we’re alone. Someone I don’t even think exists anymore.” You held back your tears as best as you can, voice quivering.
“You’re crazy,” Yoru accuses, and you gasp. The nerve of this asshole!
“Crazy? That’s rich coming from someone who confessed one minute and the next, he pretends I don’t exist.”
“When did this become about me? I’m trying to explain—”
“It’s always been about you! You, you, you! You’re selfish, egocentric and fucking heartless! I can’t even understand how you say ‘I love you’ without knowing the meaning of the word.” You snap at him, breathing hard.
He stares at you, eyes dark and clouded. He slowly retracts his arm and backs away from you, standing with closed fists. His blood was boiling in his head, he wanted to yell back. But he loved you too much to say anything hurtful. Why couldn’t you see that? And did you really see him that way?
The elevator chimes, and the door opens. It hangs there for a while until he spoke. “Fine. Think whatever the hell you want. I don’t care.” He says with gritted teeth. He quietly steps out of the elevator, leaving you there, silently weeping.

I'll bite since you're flaunting them. How'd you get those scars, big man?
*He's amused by the question* They're from stab wounds and gunshots. Contrary to what you may believe, we don't always rely on Sage or Skye to heal us. We manually patch up injuries that are non-fatal, some of us know how to suture. I admit that I'm not the best at it, so I usually have Skye or Y/N do it for me.
I... owe them a lot. Can't count the number of times they've stuffed my gun wounds with gauze to stop me from bleeding to death. Sage could remove my scars but I don't want her to.

ㅤㅤPlasma [ Yoru x F! Reader ] [1] [ part 1 / part 2 ] words: 5k / TW: blood, fighting / Please refrain from stealing my work.
ㅤIt's known that earning Yoru's attention is a futile struggle. Still, the first to achieve it is you — a woman who plans for nothing beyond the optimal spot to doze off.ㅤ
note: Mum said it's my turn to wish you all a happy Halloween!!ㅤ Anyway I watched the cinematics 50 times and still mistook the Scions' clothes for robes. But now it's too late to change it so yay.ㅤ Also, this story is pretty lore-heavy so it takes place after the Abyss cinematic. I'd start there hahaㅤ
Dividers by @saradika! Future credits will be in tags.
Tumblr media
It all started with one gentle assassin.
An assassin who possessed eyes so innocently bright, a build so friendly and personality so amiable that his recruitment prompted the bosses to question their decision.
'What started?' I hear you ask. And to that, the answer would be a little organisation dubbed the 'Scions of Hourglass'. An organisation with power and control so vast, they managed to hide the discovery of radianite for an undisclosable amount of time. Presumably millennia. As naturally as the planets orbit the sun, every member of this group was brainwashed by their adept commanders. So much so, to entertain the very concept of their underlings having autonomy — or even a sound state of mind — would be beyond laughable.
And Iso was a lovely example of that.
Nevertheless, it led to a rabbit hole. And it was a rabbit hole that proved just how much damage the Scions of Hourglass could do. Indirectly or not, many agents were still affected by it even if they were no longer associated with it — whether it be Omen, Iso, Viper, Reyna… But Clove was one of the few who found it very fun. Mostly because it involved them killing these guys left and right.
Emerging from a smoked off corner, the wee Scot held up their Spectre and immediately began spraying down the one masked soldier in front of them.
Given that he was caught off guard, it didn't take long for the man to fall to his death.

"Agh, that's gotta hurt." They scoffed as they began reloading. "These lads are helpless."
Clove jumped once another soldier appeared. However, before he could take the shot, a few bullets from behind dug through his back. Just as he sank to the ground, it revealed their friend, Iso, who appeared from the darkness. His gaze followed the butterflies that previously burst from Clove as they travelled upwards.
For a moment, he was mesmerised by them, but he was quick to meet their gaze once more.
"Maybe we should go easy on them."
His tone was too monotone to register as sarcasm to anyone who didn't know him. Thankfully, Clove wasn't a part of that crowd. They took their time to reload as they approached him, and the two began slowly walking off towards one of the doorways.
"Ya reckon we jump off and make this fair?"
Iso lightly smiled, though it was more of an awkward acknowledgement than anything else.
"What is it with you and jumping off things?"
"Dinnae make it sound weird, Iso−"
Gunfire suddenly rang out from behind them.
Caught off-guard, Iso instinctively put up a wall of hexagons to shield them from the storm of bullets that emerged. For a moment, the barrier swallowed every bullet, and the ones that were spared flew past them.
The duo readied their weapons just as it stopped.
When Iso's wall came down, however, the two noticed Omen standing over the corpse of one of the soldiers. They could tell that, by his tense posture, he was angrily glaring at them.
"Focus."
Omen growled, causing Clove to stiffen up as several more butterflies escaped them in anxiety.
Satisfied with their non-verbal apology, Omen took a step away from the doorway they were headed towards. There, he unwittingly approached the sharp rays of the sun, now bathed in the light coming in from the opening above. They could see the particles of dust as they fell.
"I sense something…"
He noticed how the particles shifted towards one direction. But before another word could be exchanged, the three heard the awry static in their radio, moments before a familiar and gentle voice took over their ears.
"Team, I need an update. How are you all holding up?"
Amidst the chaos that had only slightly lessened by now, her voice felt like a much needed break for Iso and Omen.
"I'm detecting an unfamiliar presence."
"Of course, I'll run a quick scan."
Silence promptly befell them.
Clove was about to speak, but they shut themselves up once they heard a hum in the distance. The tense quiet amongst them helped them isolate the noise with ease. But it was so quiet considering how far away it was.
“I’m picking up an… abnormal presence of radiancy in the area.”
Sage noted.
Omen noticed something cut off the sunlight that previously illuminated him. And just as he was about to look up, the answer to his question deafened all three of them. If the unbearably loud whirring accentuated by the enclosed cavern wasn’t enough, the shadow that engulfed them from above forced the rest of the team to also glance up.
There, they finally saw the number of helicopters that were entering the area from above.
Omen brought up a hand and unmuted the radio.
“They’ve brought backup.”
One of the helicopters’ doors swung open, revealing a peculiar soldier who stood at the edge of the vehicle.
This one seemed to be dressed in different apparel; as opposed to the previous soldiers who donned simple brown armour, these ones wore midnight blue robes with silver patterns across, and an unfamiliar marking on the black mask that covered their face. The soldier lifted his hand, and there was a misplaced glow emerging from his palm. It almost mimicked Sage’s.
Only one second passed before the trio were forced to jump out of the way. They narrowly dodged an attack of what seemed to be a massive mound of… ice? Snow? No, it wasn’t either. But it was solid and pure white.
Particles of cyan emerged from the massive shards. It began suffocating them, the massive influx of it creating a burning fog that irritated their lungs with every inhale. Only Omen seemed unharmed by this.
“Team, report! What happened?”
Sage cried out, her voice barely audible in the sudden ruckus.
“They’ve brought radiants this time. Weapons ready.”
He cocked his gun as he explained.
And unlike the two of them, who continuously cleared their throats in a vain attempt to clear their airways, Omen peeked and began shooting the first thing he saw. The thick cyan 'smoke' successfully obscured anything that could be seen. Due to this, he had to rely on his hearing to infer whether or not he hit anything, and the bullets from each side made sure to make that even more difficult.
With one more cough, Clove readied their own Spectre and fixed their posture in preparation for the upcoming rematch… as they called it.
“These people have radiants working for them?!”
“Do they really?”
Clove rolled their eyes at Iso’s cheeky remark.
“Agh, whisht. I’m nae keeping track of yer backstory.”
Clove promptly revealed themselves once more. And although they began rapidly shooting at whatever they could see, they made use of the thick haze to reposition themselves and cover more area. Nonetheless, Compared to Omen's, their voices were dangerously gravelly and weak. Something Sage quickly noticed due to them forgetting to mute their radios earlier.
“All of you must get out as fast as you can! We’re sending backup to–“
“There’s no need for backup−!” He peeked once more and shot, gunning down a soldier just as he noticed him. “What difference do radiants make? We can take care of this ourselves!”
His words were now laden with the fury he lugged around the moment he discovered who he really was. It lacked the serenity he was attributed with mere weeks ago. There was no way to reason with him currently.
However, Iso’s thought process was interrupted once the ground rumbled beneath him, and he looked down to see the area he stood on violently cracking, almost like a mini-earthquake. A massive spike of concrete shot out from under him, but he quickly jumped out of the way.
Thankfully, he landed beside Clove behind a massive pillar.
He only had a few seconds to catch his breath and regain his balance. There, he saw the spike revert back underground, having defiled the exact part of the concrete Iso stood on. He knew he'd be dead if he were a second too late.
“Careful,” he started, “some of them could detect our locations, as well.”
“Ya know them?”
He muted his earpiece. Since he attempted to steal a glance once more, he didn't note the curious glimmer in Clove's eyes behind him. Not when he was too busy struggling not to reveal himself to the enemies by accident.
“I know of them.”
Clove laughed, almost amused. In conjunction with them pulling out a smoke from their dimension, a small glow promptly emitted from their hand; its pale complexion now shifting to a purple, pink and white hue.
“It's fine, Iso. I’ve nae problem killing yer loved ones for you!”
“No, that’s not, uh… that’s not necessary; I can do it myself.”
He wasn’t that soft, was he? Besides, they weren't his loved ones.
“If ya say so. Well then, I’ll be out killing these numpties.”
Iso turned to meet Clove's gaze to nod, but he was caught off guard by the massive cloud behind them.
Clove, clearly happy with his reaction, saluted him with a wide grin and disappeared into the dome of colourful smoke they proudly formed behind his back. It felt like his mind was slightly contorting. Iso would attribute it to anxiety if he weren't surrounded by radiants who worked under this cursed organisation.
He had to act fast.
“Iso, you seem to know them, what can we expect?”
Sage’s voice perked up over the radio.
He peeked and surveyed the area. But for now, there was nothing. He still had to watch out for any misplaced shadows. Some of them can turn invisible, right?
“Uh… Well, violent radiancy.”
“Violent?”
“My bosses have a tendency to search for the… the dangerous radiants.” He quickly shot, killing one blue-robed soldier. “If my memory serves me right, one of them can control our minds if we’re exposed to them long enough.”
Iso immediately hid back behind the pillar when another soldier emerged. The misplaced confusion in his mind slipped just as he shot. So, hopefully it was that one, he mused. But he was too overwhelmed by anxiety and adrenaline to think about anyone else.
“This is worse than I thought. I have to send back-up. Try to stay alive until we’re there, okay?”
Clove’s voice emerged in the radio after that. However, in the midst of all the chaos, he deprioritised their conversation and peeked once more.
But then, Iso saw it.
He saw a soldier, also wearing those blue robes, pull his own blood out from his left hand with a twist of his fingers and… He promptly used it to heal the other one he’d just shot, the fluid entering their gaping wound with relative ease.
Now that he saw this from far away, the sight was macabre.
However, Iso was swiftly caught off guard when a soldier emerged from what he assumed was a locked door behind him.
Though he took aim and shot, his enemy was significantly quicker; the bullets missed no thanks to him being stripped of his ability to move.
He wasn’t too concerned with someone sneaking up on him since he had his shield up, but this man, weaponless, only needed one hand to completely disarm Iso. The clatter of his Vandal as it fell on the ground grew to a mere muffle. It only took a few seconds for Iso to begin losing all control of himself.
For a moment, it was blank. All he could hear were the rapid beats of his own heart.
The enemy in front of him became a lump of midnight blue and vague patterns of silver. Time became slower, his pulsations grew weaker, and breathing devolved into a repetitive task he was urged to drop by whatever remnants of cognitive coherence remained in his decaying mind.
It felt like his blood stopped travelling across his body, and the connection between his nerves grew weaker and weaker. So much so, all sensations were no longer being processed.
Thirty seconds before his brain activity finally ceased. With that over with, the soldier promptly worked away at his brain stem.
Then, there was a flash, and Iso fell to the ground. All of his nerves reconnected within the span of a picosecond.
“Iso, are you with me?”
A voice called out, but he couldn’t respond.
He forgot how to speak. Heck, everything he was used to mere seconds ago felt like an assault to his senses. Light, sound, even the sensation of his clothes as they wrapped around his skin, each cloth harbouring a vastly different texture compared to the last.
Omen placed a hand on his back in an attempt to catch his attention. But in the face of the incomprehensible stabbing pain in his abdomen, it did nothing.
“Iso!”
Omen growled once another soldier presumably appeared, quickly rushing in front of Iso to cover him and gun the enemy down as soon as he could. The fight was easy to slip his mind. Nevertheless, he sat up and sighed, finally catching up.
“I’m, uh…” he wiped the sweat from his forehead, “I’m here, I’m here.”
“What did he do to you?”
Omen asked as he reloaded.
But, for a moment, there was only silence on Iso’s end. It felt like many of his systems were shifting inside of him, mainly his digestive and respiratory system. Almost like they were…
Well, he wasn’t a bloody doctor.
“I– I don’t know.”
“I’ll give you time to recollect yourself.”
A smoke of purple suddenly enveloped Iso, but Omen himself stepped out and continued down towards a doorway. Iso heeded his words; he took his time and let his body catch up.
He had forgotten why he was here, or where he even was. All he knew was that there was something they wanted. Worst of all, there was this peculiar... thing he could control, but he just couldn’t remember what it exactly was.
Although he sat there for a bit, an unfamiliar shout from outside of the smoke caught his attention. The distortion of the voice let him know that it was nobody from his team. Right, right. The mission. He and Clove and… uh, someone else, they all came here for something…
He promptly clutched his weapon, stood up and followed without second thought.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His body felt heavier than usual. Each step required an exponential amount of effort to lift every part of his foot, and holding his heavy Vandal was unbearable. But that didn’t matter.
Not now.
Iso turned the corner and mindlessly gunned down the first thing he’d seen.
One soldier fell, revealing another. But Iso wasn’t quick enough to release the trigger; this led to a bullet piercing his target’s thigh and forcing him to tumble to the ground. His weapon escaped his grip, as well.
Iso's thoughtlessly brought him in front of the soldier he'd just injured. He stopped in front of him, aiming his Vandal right on the centre of his concealed face.
His index finger rapidly tapped on the trigger, almost begging him to shoot already. But… something was wrong.
Iso's eyes were firmly locked on the soldier's sash. His brain wracked itself, desperately attempting to understand why this little detail shut his mind down when it could mean life and death. But the way it was tied was different.
“I know you.”
He muttered.
Decades of training pushed Iso to never hesitate. He didn’t even know why he was killing these people, his instincts told him to. Yet, for some reason, he kept scrutinising the midnight blue sash.
It hung loosely around the soldier's waist. As opposed to the others, who meticulously tied it to make it look both elegant and efficient, this one was simply haphazardly tied together.
With a shake of his head, Iso snapped himself out it and firmly held his gun once more.
“Take the mask off.”
There was naught of a response from the soldier. Impatient, Iso shot inches away from his head.
“I said take it off!”
He shouted, his typically soft voice echoing harshly within the walls that surrounded them. Hearing something like this was so awry coming from Iso. It seems that the soldier also knew this, given the sudden tension that coursed through him.
So, he slowly lifted both hands and used one to push off the hood, letting his platinum-blonde hair loose. Then he clutched the black mask and slid it off, revealing… a very familiar face.
Iso’s eyes widened once he was finally allowed to observe your features. And nothing’s changed. You looked just as tired as the last time he saw you.
Sickly pale skin, droopy eyes, and…
Looking at you made it feel like all of those months never passed. It was as if he just came back from another assassination and went to see you like usual. It took Iso a few seconds before he could even form an appropriate response.
“…Y/N?”
“Hey, Zhao Yu. How's grandma?”
Instinctively, he dropped his weapon and rushed to your side.
“My God, you’re alive! I– I thought I’d never see you again… Why didn’t you say anything? I could’ve killed you!”
“We don’t die that easily, remember?”
“But I– I shot you. I shot your leg.”
He lifted a hand, as if he himself was going to tend to your wound, but you were quick to gently push it away.
“I can take care of it, Zhao Yu.”
He faintly nodded, taking his time to observe you. Looks like he forgot.
“It’s been so long. I’m… I’m sorry I never got back to you. Everything happened so fast, and I just–”
“Hey, be glad you left. The new regulations would drive you insane.”
He averted his gaze as he wiped his forehead. It took him a moment to comprehend you were still here, or how things worked at the organisation before he left.
One month… felt like a decade.
“But you could’ve left… We could’ve left this place together.”
“No hard feelings.”
Using your index finger, you began to heal the injury on your thigh with some sort of radiancy Iso just couldn’t remember. He sounded a bit woozy, now that you thought about it.
“It’s surreal seeing you on the job.”
He awkwardly smiled and met your gaze.
“Really? I hope my… my performance wasn’t too bad.”
“Fine at first. It got sloppy fast.”
“Oh… That’s– I’m glad it didn’t– I’m glad it didn’t go… uh…” he shook his head. “What’re we talking about?”
You glanced at him.
“You alright?”
Iso stared at you for a few seconds. Then, a crooked smile painted his lips.
“Huh?”
You lifted a hand and stroked his cheek, collecting a few droplets of sweat that were rapidly dripping down his chin. His skin felt hot and he looked weak. That wasn’t to mention how deathly pale he was becoming.
“You’re ill.”
Iso chuckled awkwardly, almost as if he were drunk.
“Am I really? That doesn’t, uh, That sounds…”
The rest of his words were incomprehensible gibberish even you couldn’t decipher. You clutched his shoulder and shifted his blood to inspect all of the surrounding organs.
This inspection, however, was quickly interrupted when you detected multiple unknown particles floating around in his bloodstream. Worst part is that their erratic structure wasn’t anything you could recognise.
And a healthy body wouldn’t have cluttered blood like this.
Great.
You placed your finger on his neck, gradually moving it down to detect where all of these foreign bodies were coming from. The lower you got, the closer you were to the source.
And it was mostly around the upper abdomen.
“Your organs aren’t working, Zhao Yu; you’re dying.”
You averted your gaze to the healed wound in your thigh. Reactivating whichever organ that was shut down would take more blood than one measly shot to the thigh could ever hope to produce.
“I can fix this. I can fix you."
You clutched the handle of the knife he had concealed on his hip, taking it out. But just as you aimed at your thigh again, an unfamiliar voice rung out from down the hallway, accompanied by rapid sets of footsteps.
“Get your hands off of him!”
You jumped at this order.
But you were quick to react; the blade was tossed away in favour of Iso’s Vandal. You clutched it and stood up, aiming it at the group. More specifically, their leader, who seemed to be a woman with a large ponytail. All you needed was a split second to take aim. Then, without hesitation, you promptly pulled the trigger.
However, the bullets were eaten up by a wall of lilac hexagons formed by your former co-worker. It blocked both your line of sight and any hope of self defence.
You promptly shot Iso a glare.
“What’re you doing?”
For a moment, he stared at the wall he’d created, almost as if he was mesmerised by it. Then, he stood up, peering through the wall and watching the weirdly familiar-looking group grow closer and closer.
Everything was so…
“I, uh… I don’t know.”
The hexagons suddenly came apart.
The group of two you were ordered to kill now morphed onto a group of three, that same phantom man now accompanied by many other faces you hadn’t seen in the briefing. All of their guns were pointed directly at you.
“Hands up, drop the weapon!”
“Make me.”
You hissed in response to a very short Scot. And your reply evidently ruffled their feathers. Or their scales. But another was quick to speak before either of you could shoot.
“This doesn’t have to end violently, okay? Just put the gun down, and we won’t hurt you.”
The one with the ponytail said, holding up one hand towards you as a peaceful gesture. This statement felt like such a slap in the face. So much so, you couldn’t help but cock your rifle specifically in the face of the lady who said it, even when the contingency of death was dangerously probable.
“You don’t get to have peace after what you’ve done.”
“You can’t comprehend what atrocities your superiors committed! They must be dealt with.”
Omen replied... and the sight of him stopped you from being able to respond. But during this conversation, the one with the ponytail began moving towards Iso, and it swiftly caught your attention. She approached Iso with one hand outstretched, and a glow of serene yet saturated shade of teal began forming in the palm of that hand.
Before she could touch Iso, however, a shriek escaped her when an immense amount of pressure suddenly overtook her wrist and forced her away just as you waved your hand.
This allowed you to stand between the two of them and force space.
“Don’t touch him!”
You spat out.
The woman clutched her wrist in an attempt to soothe the pain; her two partners seemed like they were just one nod away from gunning you down then and there. But she only stood there, staring at you in surprise.
“Do you… know him?”
The question caught you off guard. And for a moment, you hesitated, narrowing your eyes.
“…Do you?”
“Yes! We’re the ones who took him in!”
You stared at her. And given his silence as he stood behind you, you knew that Iso wasn’t capable of confirming anything at the moment. He must be seconds away from death, you’re sure of it.
“We’re not against you, okay? We’re with you. Let us help.“
As much as you wanted to kill them all then and there, you weren’t capable of doing such a thing given your measly role. And you knew it would probably upset Iso. He did stop you a minute ago, didn’t he?
So… you had no choice but to take her word for it.
“Zhao Yu’s dying.”
“What?”
You dropped the gun and rushed to his side. This also allowed her to move to him and start healing him alongside you.
“My partner shut down his organs. I think one hasn’t recovered.” You pushed your hand against his chest once more. “Check his abdomen.”
She complied. And there, she felt the same heaviness that tipped you off earlier.
“It’s a large organ… I– I’m not sure, but it could be either his lungs, or his liver… or spleen?”
The phantom stepped up just as you moved elsewhere, accompanied by the tired-looking Scot. They slid their gun back in their holster and held Iso’s left arm.
“Iso! Can you hear me?!”
“We need to get him back on the aircraft.”
The phantom started, but the healer shook her head.
“He could die if we wait for too long. His blood is already full of toxins. We must stay until he’s in a functional state, at the very least.”
“You have to go. Now. The others will kill you.” You called out, holding the mask you left on the ground moments prior. “I’ll tell them you escaped.”
“Yer lads cannae do nothing! We can take them all.”
“We have a different execution procedure. It’s why you have holes forming in your bones.”
You tied the mask back on and lifted your hood, oblivious to how the Scot’s face blanched.
"Aye, maybe we should, er…" they awkwardly chuckled, a few butterflies escaping them, "we should go."
You lifted your hand and went to unmute the radio.
“Wait…” The healer spoke. “Why don’t you come with us? We could use someone with your expertise.”
You glanced at her in confusion.
“Are you suggesting I quit?”
“Yes, just like Iso! Whatever abuse you’ve endured, it’ll all end if you decide to join us.”
You paused. The offer sounded seductive, but only to a lower rank like Iso. You were in a much worse position being in a higher one.
“I… won’t live if they catch me.”
“We’ll keep you safe from them. I assure you, they won’t lay a finger on you if you come with us.”
You stared at her for a few seconds, weighing this decision. And you weren’t really sure if it was worth it, even though you knew she wasn’t lying.
On one hand, you’d be freed of the shackles of the Scions of Hourglass, and you probably wouldn’t be indoctrinated every day. And you’d also reconnect with Iso. On the other, you’d have to live in constant anxiety of the contingency of being caught again.
You went to reject her offer… until you glanced at the half-dead Iso.
The kid would never survive without you, would he? He could barely navigate being both a student and a hitman without you or his grandmother’s help. Actually, his grandma probably missed you, huh?
You smiled fondly at the thought. So, you sighed, ripped off the mask, and threw it it on the ground. This allowed the screen to pitifully shatter to a dozen pieces.
“Let’s go.”
Just doing that cemented your path with these new people. The penalty for letting your mask break was severe, especially from Jess. But you weren’t here to endure it.
Not anymore.
With that confirmation, all of you left the base through an exit you were sure nobody was guarding. Unlike Iso, you yourself had enough information on this place to navigate it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
All of you boarded what you presumed was their aircraft and disappeared into the sky.
You were impressed with the speed of the vehicle… for a few seconds until you had to tend to the spaced-out Iso once more. The other healer, Sage, was now working on freeing Clove from whatever hold one of your colleagues had on them.
Apparently you weren’t lying about their bones.
“This is horrible. I’ve never heard of radiants who can manipulate the human body like this. How could such a thing possibly exist?”
Among your efforts to heal him, you were also gently guiding the circulation of Iso’s blood. Not fully controlling it, but instead pushing it to move to encourage his pancreas to start fully functioning again. Or spleen, you didn’t know.
But you could tell that it was working. His blood felt much cleaner than before.
“Our bosses take powerful radiants and brainwash them. They teach them the most effective ways to kill.”
You remembered Luca, and how he acted when he was first being trained. It was hard not to laugh at his face when he discovered his ability could be utilised in such a way; that he himself was capable of rendering someone brain dead so fast.
But it ceased to be funny when your friend was now on the other end of it.
“…Is that what happened to you and Iso?”
You opened your mouth to answer, but Iso’s face slightly shifting at this question made your voice falter. It wasn’t hard to tell he was very uncomfortable at this topic, despite his state.
So you opted to leave him out of the conversation.
“Happened to me.”
“That’s horrible.” Sage averted her gaze. “These people are horrible.”
You contemplated her words for a second, and promptly began to question whether or not Iso told them everything.
Sure, you were a much higher rank than him and thus had more information, but surely he remembered their ritual when it came to recruiting specific radiants? Oh, his memory was shoddy. You couldn’t expect much from it.
You sighed and continued your work. But then, a deep voice interrupted you from your thoughts.
“Your bosses…” Omen started, “what do you know about them? Can you name who’s at the top?”
Your heart skipped a beat.
For a moment, you assumed that Omen wasn't speaking to you, but given the fact that he was looking right at you… You braced yourself before finally responding.
“I… only know those way below them.”
“How does that work?”
You stopped and leaned back, stretching your fingers in an attempt to ease the soreness, a vain attempt to take your mind off of the fact you were talking to Omen.
“It’s a hierarchical structure; information gets lost the further down you go. Nobody knows who’s at the top.”
Omen faintly nodded.
And yet, he seemed incredibly unsatisfied with this answer. Your words seemed concordant with Iso’s, albeit a bit more detailed. He himself never mentioned the hierarchical structure of this organisation. But now that they thought about it, it made sense…
So, that meant that Iso was a low rank? Sage mused to herself. But another question took priority in her mind.
“I presume you’re a healer as well?”
“I am.”
“Wonderful! How do your powers work, exactly?”
“I control blood.”
Sage went to reply, but she paused at your response. Control blood? That didn’t seem to match what she was seeing.
“Ah, but, wouldn’t that make you just as capable of manipulating the body as your… um, your former partners?”
“No. It’s suppressed. I can only heal.”
“Really? How–”
“Can we save this conversation for when we land?”
Iso suddenly interrupted. His voice, though monotone, still caught everyone in the aircraft off guard. To the rest, it was incredibly surprising. Clove and Sage’s concerned expressions gave it away.
But to you? You knew that he loathed these questions; combined with your presence, they were digging up too many unbearable memories. This particular aspect of the legendary and feared hitman must be new for them.
Sage promptly cleared her throat.
“Your recruitment should yield… very fruitful results. On both sides.”
Sage said with a smile. Though friendly, you could tell she was just as taken aback as everyone else in the room. You couldn’t help but stare at her blankly for a few minutes.
Then, you turned back to Iso and continued healing him, all while Sage focused on Clove.

Hello. I am here to request a Yoru X male reader with Yoru acting cocky. I feel like we don’t get enough of that— writers often make him soft in fanfics, but I want to see him act shamelessly arrogant (and for good reason). The genre is up to you, but maybe some sort of action-packed/mid-fight scene would be good. Thank you for your time. :]
Mr. Arrogant
Tumblr media
Characters: Ryo "Yoru" Kiritani Type: Fluff?, Oneshot, Gn!reader
IM CRYING I PRACTIALLY HAD THIS DONE THEN A POWEROUTAGE HIT I know the request was for male!reader but I couldn't really find a spot to specify it im sorry >.< anyways reader's abilities are vaguely inspired by kiriko from overwatch
Warnings: none
Tumblr media
To say Yoru pissed you off would be an understatement. The self proclaimed 'lone wolf' of the protocol's cocky and arrogant personality made him insufferable to work with. By no means was he bad at what he does, but god was he annoying.
Especially as an agent with healing abilities. Despite his refusal to be a team player, he expects you to come help him at any beck and call. You do anyways because it's your job and, unlike him, you value teamwork. That doesn't make it any less irritating though.
Today had been like any other mission with Yoru. You holding down a site while he ran off to god knows where. The two of you were sent to check out lotus, making sure everything was in order. But what no one expected was for a full team of mirror agents to be there.
"A little help here, asshole!? They're all A!" you yell through comms, trying your best to hold down the fort on your own. Currently, you were cornered in tree where you had to watch for doors and the entrance to site. You huff in annoyance at his lack of a response, shooting your pistol while trying to keep the enemies at bay.
After a few moments you hear the faint sound of the rift walker ripping through the dimensional fabric. From what you could tell, he had probably teleported to drop. You finally made your way out of your hiding spot at the sound of 2 shots from his sheriff and 2 bodies of the omega earth agents hitting the ground.
"Surprise. Idiot."
From what you could tell, there were two sets of footsteps coming from main and another one from stairs. Yoru went to push main, paying no mind to you, fully confident in his ability to take each and every enemy out on his own. You roll your eyes at his behavior, waiting for the enemy who was at stairs to peek out, taking them down.
You snapped your head around to your companion at the sound of a pained grunt.
"Need healing!"
Despite his call out, he continued to push the two remaining enemies.
"I can't heal you if you keep moving, dumbass! Stay in my range!" You run after him, tossing one of your healing charms towards his feet.
"What? Can't keep up?"
You could practically hear the smirk on his face through this remark. The sound of gunshots ceased as Yoru took out the last of the mirror agents, finally standing still for you to run up to him.
After approaching him, you did a few hand signs before placing them on Yoru's shoulders with a soothing glow. You glance at his face to see him wearing a smug expression.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
"What would you do without me? You were barely able to take one of them out on your own. Am I just that much better than you?"
Your eye twitched slightly as you removed your hands, ceasing your healing. Oh how he pissed you off.
"Oh? Did I ruffle a feather?" he says, smirk growing wider across his face.
Your feathers were in fact RUFFLED.
Without a word or a second thought, you punched the man in his shoulder before yanking him by his collar into a chaste kiss.
You pulled away and got a good look at his face. His cocky expression was now replaced with one of shock as his cheeks dusted a light shade of pink.
"Not so high and mighty now, are you Mr. Arrogant?"

A Gift for Who?
AO3 Link in case you prefer that.
Posted at 11:17pm, Feb 14, 2023 so technically still Valentine’s day :p
Also went outside my comfort zone the more I wrote so ig the primary ship is Skye/Yoru, but tremorbolt does make an appearance, and I have something else for tremorbolt later this week that’s semi-valentines day related.
4.8k Words, continued under the keep reading line. No real warnings, I don’t think...
“What, you’re telling me that no one has ever given you flowers before?”
Skye was staring at Sage with what must’ve been a ridiculous look on her face. She knew her eyes were wide, jaw slightly agape, and yet… well…
“How?”
Sage shrugged, too busy with looking over the leaves and preening the plant Skye had asked her to look over. What started as just a plant sitting job has turned into a weekly meeting between them. Sage found comfort in the work, and Skye could use the help. “I’ve received chocolates before. Cards as well.”
“But not flowers?”
“Not flowers,” Sage shook her head. “They’re much more expensive, and well… once I got older, I moved to the monastery.”
“And not since, huh?”
“No. But I don’t mind. I spent my time there training, but also, I took care of flowers. I didn’t want dead ones anymore.” She finished off the flower, snipping just a few more leaves before setting the pot aside.
“But still…” Skye trailed off. She didn’t want to keep hammering on this point. It would only make Sage feel worse and—
“WHAT?”
Both her and Sage stood up in an instant to face the source of the noise, only to relax once they saw Phoenix standing up with his chair knocked a few feet back. Cypher was chuckling while still staring at the chessboard between them, and even Sova had a small smile on his face. The hunter looked up at them first, smile widening a little more as he realized what happened. Closer to the kitchenette, even Yoru stopped staring at the chess board and was staring at them, though he had the decency to look away when he made eye contact with Skye. Good. Wasn’t like they were the ones to cause the disturbance. But Sova kept staring at her, even after Yoru walked by Skye to leave the room.
Skye liked Sova; they became fast friends when she first joined. Both of them loved nature, and they also loved animals. Sova would show her pictures, and she let him practice his tracking skills on her summons. But even with all their time together, she had trouble reading him. He looked amused at the outburst, but he looked at them with something else. It wasn’t just mirth.
And like she thought, he came to her later that evening when she was alone in the green house. Skye had been doing some late-night check-ins with her plants. She had just set down a watering can when she heard Sova clear his throat. Her arm tensed, but at least it was better than the times he had snuck up on her without making his presence known.
“I have a bell if you wanna hang that around your neck,” she offered.
He offered a small smile. His eyes flickered to plants along the side, and she could practically see him trying to frame the perfect shot on some of them. “Need one of them?”
His eyes flicked back to her. “No, I was just wondering if you’ve had experience with flower arrangements?”
“Uh, a little. But I haven’t thought about it in a long time.” With other things in her life, and other goals taking priority, she let that one hobby of hers fade. “Why’re you asking?”
“I would like to make a bouquet for someone, but of course, I’m on standby here. I cannot leave base right now.”
“And Valentine’s day is coming up?” Skye asked.
He nodded. “You have beautiful flowers, and I would be willing to pay for your plants and your services.”
Skye was about to ask why he was coming so suddenly with this idea. It felt very last minute, but then she remembered the conversation from this afternoon. Flowers. Sage had never received flowers before.
“Aw, look at you, cutie. ‘Bout time someone stepped up and got Sage some flowers.”
His smile gave away perhaps the bit of embarrassment he had kept under wraps until then.
“Name a price, and we shall negotiate,” he said.
“Nah, this is too cute to ask for money,” she waved him off. “But come wintertime, I’m gonna need someone to help move the pots into this greenhouse.”
“I will be there,” Sova smiled.
“Then that’s all settled!” She started walking out, even reaching up to plant a hand on his shoulder as she led him out.
For the next few days, she helped Sova prepare flowers. They talked about colours, patterns, and even dabbled a little in meanings. Neither of them was very familiar with the last topic, and after discovering the intricacies that went into floral messages, she could practically smell Sova’s brain frying. English as a second language was probably only making it that much more complicated for him to learn, so the secret meaning idea was quickly discarded. A theme would work much better with his vision, or lack of one as she soon found out.
Skye eagerly suggested pretty pinks and reds. Roses. A classic bouquet to show his love. However, he was quick to dismiss that. While she felt like he was going about a Valentine’s bouquet all wrong, she kept her mouth shut while he looked over flowers with pretty yellows and purples. Flowers that would probably scream “just friends” to any other woman. So, yeah, maybe Sova’s dumb man brain was just looking at the colours he personally liked rather than thinking about the overall meaning. She did draw a line at sunflowers though. The ultimate symbol of friendship. No. None of those, even though Sova looked a little rejected when she said so – or as rejected as a stoic Russian mercenary could look.
She took no pleasure in trying to guide the stubborn hunter into a path that would lead to a successful Valentine’s day celebration, and she let that be known when she met up with Breach later on in the day.
“I just… What’s he trying to do? No girl’s gonna get some mum’s bouquet and swoon. If he wants this to work, he needs to get his head out of his own ass and start thinking about this from Sage’s perspective!”
Breach paused, woodcarving knife just barely against the little wooden statuette he had been working on with Skye for the past month. “This is Sova who’s getting flowers for Sage?”
“Yeah.” Hadn’t he been listening? She wanted to ask. Then, when he looked down at the little figurine he was detailing, something clicked in her head.
“Oh, I’m so sorry Breach. I know you’ve been working on this for a while.”
He sat back in his chair, placing the blade and the little owl charm off to the side while he seemed to think. When he looked back at Skye, the look turned much less pensive, and a little more confidence. His bravado was showing again, and he smirked at Skye. “No need to be sorry. It won’t matter.”
Even though he put this façade back up, she felt knots in her stomach. God, she wished she caught this earlier, maybe even dissuaded Sova from his plan. Instead, she got so swept away that she led Sova down this path, thus shutting the door on Breach’s hopes.
“Well, you put in good work on the owl, yeah? Why not finish it for yourself?”
“It’s not for myself,” Breach said, looking at the little owl.
Skye looked down at her own bit of work, another Tasmanian tiger, almost absent mindedly brushing over the newest portions she’s carved off. There would probably be a few splinters to contest with later, but right now her anxiousness was overriding her common sense. “Yeah… yeah of course.”
Breach didn’t say much else, but he leaned forward on the desk again and picked up the charm and the knife.
“I’m almost done. Should be ready by then.”
And ok… She looked over at Breach, trying to see if he was trying to mess with her at this point. But he was just whittling away at the owl now, not really paying her any attention.
“So… How’s it been between you and him?”
“Sova?” Breach’s eyes flickered to her right before resuming his work. “It’s been the same, I guess. We talked in the morning over his tea and my coffee. Bit of banter and the like.”
It wasn’t her place to comment, but he was right in the sense that there’s been no change in their relationship. Ever since he asked her for help with this little Valentine’s day project, she’s been keeping an eye on the two of them. And sure, they no longer went at each other’s throats like they used to, but they didn’t smile at each other, she didn’t catch any secret looks between them, not like when she caught Killjoy and Raze. So, yeah, maybe she was worried for the big, part-mechanical man. His heart wasn’t made of metal after all.
He stayed for less time than normal that evening, and Skye stayed for much longer. She thought about all the things she should’ve said instead, some way to maybe shield Breach. At least if Sova was the one to break his heart, he wouldn’t blame her. She just kept looking around the greenhouse, nitpicking at her plants while she was lost in thought.
“Skye?”
The new voice startled her, and she looked towards the entrance where Yoru was leaning against the wall.
“What are you still doing here?”
“Just thinking.” She took a deep breath, feeling the energy around her stir as she focused on it. When she felt it balance out, she opened her eyes and shot a smile towards Yoru. He paused mid-step towards her. “I’m fine.”
“So, I can see.” He stood up straight now, staring at anything – the ground even – instead of at her.
“Were you looking for me?”
He opened his mouth once before closing it and shrugging. “No… Just… I needed one of your plants. I was hoping to come around when no one else was here.” There was a pause, then, “Sorry if I walked in on something. I’ll come back some other time.”
“No, you can…” She trailed off when she saw him walk off around a corner.
She sighed at nothing in particular. There was nothing she could do now for the Swede. It was all in his own hands.
.
Over the next few days, she spent more and more of her time with Sova. First was sketching the overall look they wanted, next was setting the base and decorating the vase Sova wanted, and only on the day before, would they actually stick the flowers in. The final design they went for was a mix of yellow alstroemeria with bunches of pink flowers, the only bit of romantic flair she could convince him to add. And she was glad that he fought back on her ideas because even as she suggested the pretty pink blooms, she felt the bitterness well up at the back of her throat.
Breach… he was walking his heart right into a slaughter.
She would still talk to Breach on occasion. He came by less and less, especially as their little project finished up. That wasn’t what she noticed. She noticed the shorter gym sessions, the increased disappearances, even the looks over her shoulder at no one in particular and secret messages he’d turn away from her.
The evening before Valentine’s day, the last thing he said to her as she warned once more that Sova was sending Sage flowers was, “Things’ll work out. Trust me.”
Argh. That stubborn…
“I don’t know what I’m doing wrong?” She said out loud. Yoru was helping her water and care for all the plants now that Sage was on mission. She would be back tomorrow, so Sova’s plans would go well, and so Breach’s heart would get broken.
At least there was someone other than greens to hear her this time. She had just sent Sova away with the bouquet of flowers before Yoru swung by to get some fresh mint. That package was still on the table, wrapped up and yet untouched now that he was here filling up another watering can.
“It sounds like you’ve done as much as you can. Why do more?”
She gave him a deadpan look. At least he had the sense to look ashamed as his eyes flicked back to the plants.
“Because I want them both to be happy, and I want Sage happy too. But this way, I feel like I’m not giving Breach a fair shot.”
“You were patient enough to teach him how to carve something. That’s plenty.”
She sighed. Skye would like to argue, but she was both too tired to, and all out of arguments. Yoru was right. She did as both of them wanted. It wasn’t her fault that Sova didn’t like him like that. It wasn’t her fault that Breach fell for Sova anyways.
“All this drama is just too much,” she sighed. “You know, I’ve never understood Valentine’s day.”
Yoru froze. “You haven’t?”
“No! Can ya blame me? All this drama, and…” she sighed, maybe for the hundredth time this hour.
“I think the idea is nice. Love and… stuff.”
She snorted a laugh, quickly coughing to cover it up. She heard a watering can be set down as Yoru was suddenly interested in something in one of the troughs, unaware of the momentary amusement he just brought her.
“Thanks, you know?” She leaned against the only desk in this place while she watched him lift the water-filled can up and turned to her. So what if she liked the look of his shoulders as he worked? Not like she normally saw him like this when he kept that bright blue jacket on.
“No need. You said Sage wasn’t around, and I needed your garden. A trade’s a trade.”
She never realized just how little he said. But there was a depth to his tone that made her feel like he wanted to be here. He wasn’t trying to brush her off.
“Yeah, but for listening to me ramble, you know? Not everyone can stand that.”
“It’s fine. I’m fine.”
They continued on with a little bit of chatter, a little on Jett and Phoenix’s latest shenanigans and a little on Skye’s most recent experiments with her radiant powers. By the time he left, Skye was a lot more relaxed. Worried, but no longer endlessly anxious. It was perhaps the only thing that got her to sleep knowing what the next day would bring.
.
With a mission coming back and a debrief as well as various meetings throughout the day, Skye actually didn’t get a chance to meet up with Sage, Sova, or Breach to figure out how things went. She knew how they’d go, but she needed to be there for Breach at least. Though, she wasn’t even sure if or when Sage got her flowers and if or when Sova got the owl charm. It was frustrating though, how those thoughts stayed in her mind even when she was doing her job and focusing on other tasks.
“Skye!”
She looked up from the map Brimstone placed in front of her. She had been trying to study it, commit all the landmarks to memory, but she was just getting so distracted. Sage was practically waltzing into the room though. In her hands was the white vase with the pale pink ribbon, bright pink and yellow flowers poking out at the top.
She looked happy. That could only mean that Sova was happy too. And Breach would be on his own.
“Aww look at that! You got your flowers!”
She nodded. “I came here to thank you! I’d recognize these flowers as yours any day. The smell is so wonderful, and the colours are so bright and pretty!” Then, in a lower voice, she murmured, “And while Sova is quite capable, this has your touch to it. Thank you.”
“Shucks, it was nothing,” Skye said, unable to stop smiling from the joy radiating off Sage. “It was Sova’s idea though, he should deserve some credit.”
“Of course, he and I talked about this and the process. Who knew when he first joined that he’d be so sensitive?” She was staring at the flowers now, a dreamy look overtaking her features.
“What are you up to tonight?”
“Oh, I had plans with Brimstone and Viper, but first I need to find the perfect place to put them. They’ll freshen up my room after I was gone for so long.” With that, she walked down the hall.
Huh. Her plans… weren’t exactly what she was expecting, but if they were pre-existing ones, then Skye guessed that Sage felt obligated to keep them. But this also meant… She had to find Breach.
The first place she went to was the dorm hall. She tried to knock on the door to his room, but no one answered. She had already tried to text Breach, but Breach wasn’t responding. She didn’t blame him, but she felt like he shouldn’t have blamed her either. But after trying the gym, lounge, and the training room, she had no other options but to hunt down the information broker.
Cypher looked up at Skye as she approached, remembering the last time he didn’t let her know that he saw she was there and she slammed the table, underestimating her strength and sending a few of his chess pieces flying. She took a seat this time, across from him and clasped her hands together on the table.
“I reckon you know where Breach is. I haven’t seen the bludger all day!”
He tilted his head a little. “And you assume I know where he is?”
“Don’t ya?”
Cypher looked down at the chessboard again. He could try to negotiate something with Skye, but that would take time and she could be quite stubborn when she felt like she was being ripped off… which just so happened to be every deal he has ever tried to make with her. But he looked tired, and Skye was serious. She just had to try very hard not to look too gleeful so that the next time she needed something, he would come to the same conclusion: it was easier and harmless to just give her what she wanted.
“I saw him heading towards the stairs up to the roof. How he got a key…” Cypher shrugged. “Try there.”
“Thanks. You’re a real beaut.” And she rushed off.
She ran up to the stairwell, swiping her card multiple times in a rush to open the door. Finally, on the fifth or sixth try, she got it to open, and she rushed up. Time had passed without her realizing. Just how many hours did she spend in that room? She had to blink her eyes a few times to get adjusteed to the darkness, but as she was starting to see her surroundings, she heard a few concerning things.
“Is that all you want from me?”
That was Breach, and he was talking to…
“Breach—” Sova… Shit.
She rushed around the rooftop storage to where the voices were coming from, and she froze. In front of her, Sova had his back up against the wall, one hand on Breach’s hip, and the other wrapped up in red hair at the back of Breach’s head. And Breach. She couldn’t actually see Breach’s face because it was pressed up against Sova’s neck to… well.
Without her even saying anything, maybe just from her footsteps, Sova’s head turned towards her, and his eyes widened. As the realization that he was caught hit, he yanked on Breach’s hair hard enough to pull his head back.
“What the—” Breach started forming the last word of that sentence just as he followed Sova’s eyes to Skye. It felt like his words echoed in the night air as he understood what Sova was worried about.
The two men looked at each other, and Skye just… It was like they had a whole conversation, and she didn’t speak the language. Just from their faces alone. When did they get this close?
“I told you things would be fine,” Breach smirked as he turned back towards Skye. “He liked the owl. Right?”
Sova scoffed, but then he smiled at Skye, “You did a good job teaching him. If you truly did not do most of the work.”
Breach gave a mock offended look, but then quickly leaned in to peck Sova on the lips.
“Sova,” Skye started. She was genuinely happy for Breach. She wanted this for him – to find someone else he got along with, but Sage… She seemed so happy. And for Sova to be up here with Breach meant that she would only get hurt. “I never knew you’d be such a two-timing bastard.”
He had the indecency to look shocked, as if he expected her to be polite.
“I never cheated on Breach,” he said.
“Not Breach – Sage!”
Sova’s face went blank, not from guilt, but something else. And of course, Breach picked up on whatever was going on because he couldn’t contain his laughter.
“Sova,” he mock scolded the hunter. “How dare you!”
And that got Sova to move, though not much as his hand still in Breach’s hair just tugged a little reminding him that he did know how to hurt Breach, even if he didn’t want to.
Sova looked back at Skye and said, “I respect Sage, and I enjoy her company, but I was never interested.”
“She looked so happy about the flowers though! How could you of all people—”
“There’s a misunderstanding,” Sova said with his hands up in front of him. A surrender, especially as Skye took steps towards him. “I gifted her flowers, yes, but I didn’t choose overly romantic flowers. And when I gave them to her, I made it clear that it was just a gift between friends. I respect her as a leader, but I do not see her as a love interest. She was pleased all the same, no?”
“So she knows?” She could practically feel her blood pressure dip back down to normal. “You didn’t lead her on?”
Sova shoved his hands in his pockets, and Breach automatically pressed up against him, like a shield against the wind. “No. I have no intention of making her think otherwise. It was just a token of friendship. She knows.”
“That’s… good.” Ok, so she was the one misinterpreting this all Valentine’s day thing.
“Plus, she’s spending the night with Brimstone and Viper. Do you really think they’re just gonna watch a movie? All three? In a dark room?” Breach teased.
Huh. So, there was a lot more going on around here than she thought. “What about that rule?”
“You’re talking to me. What rules?” Breach scoffed.
Sova gave him a soft slap, something that got Breach’s attention more than hurt him. Breach leaned over once more to press a kiss to Sova’s forehead and asked the hunter, “If you’re still cold you can leave first. I can finish this talk for us.”
Sova nodded.
“Your room or mine?” Breach asked as Sova walked away.
Skye watched him tilt his head, then with what she could only describe as a mischievous look – something she thought she’d never seen from Sova of all people – Sova pointed to himself. Breach nodded and watched him all the way until she heard the door close.
“Look, sorry for scaring you, but really, thank you. Couldn’t have pulled off tonight without your help with the owl. And I’m sure Sova would say the same about the flowers.”
She punched his arm, forgetting that they were metal for a second before Breach raised his eyebrows and her knuckles hurt a little. “Piss off. Ya fucking…”
He chuckled and she just shook her head.
“All that time helping us though,” Breach started, “Did you get yourself anything for Valentine’s? A date maybe?”
Skye rolled her eyes. “Not likely. Seems like everyone’s paired up already anyways.”
“Some are trio’d.”
She pulled a face, not even sure what it was for, but Breach snorted a laugh. Then, he looked past her and tapped her shoulder. “Might not be too late for you.”
Behind her, standing just at the door, was Yoru with a small box in his hands. He looked… awkward didn’t even begin to describe him. His hair was done up, but he was in a nice shirt instead of his jacket, and he looked genuinely anxious, a look she had never seen on him before.
In a more sing-song voice, Breach added, “Have fun, flower girl. Don’t forget to use some protection, ja?”
She tried to punch him again as he walked off, but his strides were long and was quickly out of reach. He whispered something to Yoru as he passed, and the riftwalker regained his characteristic annoyed features before Breach closed the door behind him, and Yoru was alone with Skye.
“Hey,” she started. And with what Breach said, the gift in Yoru’s hand, and all the increased visits, she was sure about what he was going to ask, but she still couldn’t believe it.
His cheeks were flushed a light pink as he stepped up, and if she didn’t know better, she’d say that it was due to the cold. But she would have to be dense to ignore the far more likely explanation.
“Let me guess. You really didn’t need mint leaves that night. And Sage didn’t really tell you to help me water the plants?”
He shuffled his feet a little, staring at the ground as if it were the most interesting thing in the world. Then, he swallowed and shook his head. As he did, he looked her in the eyes and his arrogant façade was completely gone. He looked nervous, excited, and hopeful.
“You’re… You’re really cool.” His tone was the same one someone would use as they unwillingly gave up secrets. Maybe her face gave away her thoughts too because he followed it up with, “I mean that in a good way. I… You’re really good at your job, and uh…”
He sighed and stared at the stars. Like they would help him now.
“Is the gift for me?” she asked, trying to help him out.
“Yeah. I… made it for you. I thought you would… like it?”
Carefully, as though it were the most precious gem, and it might as well have been because, well, gosh darn it, he was just the cutest right now. She undid the pretty pink ribbon and lifted the lid off, handing it to his outstretched hand. She couldn’t help her reaction though. She felt her mouth drop open just a little as her eyes widened. On what looked like a silver chain bracelet, there were bits of what looked like wood carved vines looping between the various links and holes. Spaced out along the vine were well polished looking flowers, all painted to perfection, creating the illusion of a vine wrapping around her wrist.
“Holy…” She looked up at Yoru. “You said you made this?”
His eyes were narrowed as he was trying to gauge her reaction. “Yes? Breach would record your lessons and I would listen to them after you taught him. He… He helped. But I did the wood parts. And the painting.”
She handed him the box as she took the bracelet out, still admiring the work on it. Sure, there were a few bits here and there that she would carve differently, but this was still better than amateur work.
“Seems like I did a good job.” And there it was. His confidence was creeping back now. “I hope you like it.”
“I… I love it!” She threw her arms around his shoulders and hugged him tight. “This is amazing! No one’s ever done something like this for me.”
She hung it over her wrist, and he helped her do the clasp. Now that they were standing so close, and his head was dipped slightly so he could see the bracelet in the moonlight, she could study him. His small scrapes and scars, the furrow of his eyebrows as he concentrated, and the way he clenched his jaw. When he looked back up at her, she could only think to do one thing.
Skye leaned in towards him. His one hand that was on her wrist still slid to her elbow, then her ribs, then finally to her waist. He helped hold her up to him so that when she closed her eyes, she could feel his breath on other lips. And when they actually kissed, it just felt natural to her. Like how the wind coursed through the mountains, or how a river flowed over earth, the power of the world around them coursing through her veins, it was natural. Something they didn’t have to worry about.
When they parted, noses and foreheads still pressed against each other, she could only let out a breathy chuckle that he joined in with too.
“Thanks, Yoru. This was…”
“The best Valentine’s day?”
She thought for a bit, watching as he rolled his eyes when he realized she was just playing with him, and she nodded her head. “Yeah. I’d reckon it’s the best day I’ve ever had period.”

Weak (Part 2, Finale) (Valorant Yoru x Fem!Reader)
Yoru sat on his bed, arms leaning on his knees. He brooded as he sharpened his knife, the friction sending sparks around the dimly lit room. He blasted Japanese rap music on the speakers, trying to keep himself occupied.
But he couldn’t stop thinking about you.
He knew how it felt to burst out in anger and say things you don’t mean, so he kept convincing himself that you didn’t really feel that way about him; that you saw him as more than just an asshole. But he couldn’t blame you. He hurt you by lying just to save himself from being teased about you. He knew damn well you were out of his league, and if Phoenix knew, he’d never hear the end of it.
Was lying really worth hurting you? No, and he regrets it deeply.
He sighs. I hope her head is cool once she comes back. I need to explain myself. But his thoughts were stopped by a loud banging outside his room. He scrambles to turn off the music. “What do you want?” He yells back, rolling his eyes.
“Y/N! She’s hurt! She’s—it’s serious! Please you have to—” He hears KJ scream frantically behind the door, and his eyes widened. He springs to his feet, dropping his knife on the floor. Without a second thought, he opens the door and grabs KJ’s shoulders. “Where,” he asked sternly, and KJ winces. “T-they’re taking her to the ICU, she’s in an u-unstable state,” she replies, but he was already running to the infirmary.
Hearing how panicked KJ was, a million nightmares played in his head. Sage wasn’t here, which heightened his anxiety. What if you die? And Sage couldn’t bring you back? What if you suffer so much, you gain amnesia? What if you turn into something like Omen?
He shook his head. He won’t let that happen. He’d tear a hole in the whole dimensional fabric of the universe before he lets that happen.
As he saw the room you were held in, he bangs on the door. “Open the FUCKING DOOR!” He yells, kicking it with so much force, it groaned but stood firm. Phoenix ran and tried to hold him back. “Stop man! You’ll break the door!” He warns, holding his best mate’s arms back. “Kuso, doke!” He thrashes violently, trying to elbow Phoenix’s face. Viper looked back from the window, and she could tell that Yoru won’t relent until he was let in.
She instead opens the door and gets out of the sterile room, glaring at Yoru. Yoru returns the look, pushing Phoenix off him. “What the fuck did you do to her.” Yoru growls, grabbing the doctor by her coat, but she doesn’t squirm. “Nothing that isn’t helpful. You can’t enter the room.” She orders, but his grip doesn’t loosen. Behind them, Phoenix watches closely, making sure Yoru didn’t do anything too rash. A few agents also arrive, and a few gasps were emitted as they saw you through the glass.
Yoru watches you writhe on the bed, your limbs secured on the metal bars. You were screaming, face stained with tears of pain. Several markings on your body pulsed in the color red with every movement you made. His eyes were wide and his mouth hangs open, shocked and scared. He looks back at Viper with fury.
“Tell me what’s going on. NOW.” He demands, and Viper holds on to his wrist, trying to tear him off her. Phoenix intervenes, trying to break the two up but he’s shoved aside by Yoru. “Her body was exposed to Radianite residue for too long when she investigated one of the mission’s points of interest. We didn’t anticipate the reserves still active in the mineshaft.” She explains, dusting herself.
“At the moment, there’s no cure. Not even Sage would be able to help her. Y/N’s not radiant, which makes the situation much worse. This could be fatal.” Hearing this, Yoru’s blood boiled. “No cure? What do you mean no cure?! Why didn’t you discuss this in the risk management?! YOU SENT HER ON A SUICIDE MISSION.” He screams at her face, and Phoenix was almost fed up with Yoru’s behavior. He understood how much he cared about you but this wasn’t helping anyone.
“Man, lay off. Y/N’s not the only one affected here. Harbor and Viper are also fatigued. Doc is trying her best to keep Y/N alive right now,” Phoenix warns, squeezing Yoru’s shoulder with force. “Y/N’s body is fighting the effects right now. All we can do is hope she overcomes it, and that Sage arrives here on time. She may at least try to relieve some of her pain.”  Viper adds, but Yoru did not relent.
“And what if she doesn’t? What then? You send her off into a mission you weren’t prepared for and now you just hope she lives?!” Yoru clenches his fist, but before he could grab Viper again, Phoenix threw him a punch in the face, knocking him down. “I told you man! Lay off! You’re acting crazy!” He rubs his fist on his white jacket, watching Yoru get up on his feet. He’d never seen Yoru this angry. In blind rage, Yoru charges at Phoenix, but before he could, Viper injects him with a sleeping drug on his neck.
The last thing he sees is you, on your hospital bed, sweating and in pain. His heart drops. He wanted to be there, to hold your hand. “Y/N…” he whispers your name, but you do not hear it.
--
The next time he wakes up, he couldn’t move properly. Adjusting his view, he sees a gray wall. He was laying on his side. When he was about to wipe on his eyes, he couldn’t. Huh? Where the hell am I? Pulling at his arms, he realized he was handcuffed. He sprung upward, looking around. It was a small room, only furnished with a rickety bed, a single faucet and what he assumed was another room for a lavatory. On the other side was a door that had a large rectangular window on it.
Am I in a jail cell?
“Hey!” He yells, banging on the door with his shoulders. He tries to kick it down but doesn’t do much damage, still dizzy from the drug. He peers out the window, and sees a familiar mop of brown hair. It was Phoenix on the other side. “Phoenix, open the fucking door!” He orders, slamming his whole weight on the door.
“Can’t man. I know you’re worried about her. So are we. But fucking up Viper’s work won’t help anyone, especially Y/N.” Phoenix reasons quietly, crossing his arms. He feels his best friend’s anger through the door, and he felt guilty for punching him. But it had to be done, unless he wanted Yoru to do something he’d regret for the rest of his life.
“I can’t just wait for her to rot in there! Open the door!” Yoru persisted. His voice was starting to waver. “And what would you do? What would you even do there? Hassle the doc?” Phoenix replies angrily, facing the window.
“Damn it, I’d take her pain and turn it into mine if I could!” He shouts back angrily with a last bang on the door with his back. “Fuck, I… I can’t just wait here while she suffers. I can’t.” He croaks, slowly sitting down against the door. He then remembered how in pain you were. His heart clenched. He cared about you more than he let himself show.
“All I know is that I want to be with her right now. That’s all I ask,” he begged.
Phoenix listens as Yoru sulked there. Fuck, now he wants to open the door. Yoru hears Phoenix leave him, his footsteps fading into obscurity. He sat there, tugging on his binds occasionally. How crazy you got him right now. He thought about your last conversation. Another lie: he did care. He cared about you a lot. He loved you so much.
How he wished that you left with your last conversation being how much he loved you instead of an argument over his mistake.
“Kiritani.” He hears a familiar voice call, and he springs to his feet. His eyes met Viper’s through the window. “Please, let me see her.” He asks breathlessly. Viper stares emptily at him before nodding. “Tell me honestly, how come her situation elicits such a strong reaction from you? Is there anything I should be aware of?” She asks as the door slowly opens.
Yoru gulps, but he smiles faintly. “I’m her boyfriend. It’s my job to worry.” Phoenix’s eyes widened. Viper only nods again. She didn’t remember the last time she worried about someone as hard as he did. She respected it.
As soon as the door was opened for him, he rushed to you. He didn’t know why but you looked gaunt, and it had only been hours. You were sweating but visibly conscious, your eyes glazed open. “Y/N,” he almost yelps, kneeling down cupping your face. The rest of the protocol watched from the window as you stir. “Ryo…?” You croaked, trying to look for him, but you could only see his blurry face. “I’m here Y/N, I’m so sorry.” He grits his teeth in frustration. It pained him to see you so weak.
He reaches for your hand and gives it a reassuring squeeze. “We found that having pure radianite around her siphons the effects of the decay. Problem is, it turns the radianite into residue, so it’s circular feedback. Killjoy made a radianite filter in house. It seems to alleviate some of the pain. She just has to endure.” Viper explains bluntly, pulling the gloves off her hands. “Don’t approach the filter. I don’t want another patient. That’s Sage’s job.” She adds before moving to the monitors.
“Y/N, I’m so sorry for what I said earlier. I do care, I care about you more than I care about anything else. I’m sorry for denying you whenever they asked. I’m not ashamed of you, in fact, you’re the best thing that’s happened to me in a while.” He confessed, not caring if Viper was there to hear. You look at him sadly. He was disheveled.
“I’m just scared that if they knew that we’re together, they’ll tell you that I’m bad news. They’ll tell you that I’m not a good boyfriend, tell you that I don’t deserve you. I’m not deaf Y/N, I know what they say about me. I’m scared that you’ll change your mind.” He chokes on his words as he held on to you. “I love you and I will never be ashamed to call you mine. So please, please, fight the decay.” He begged, a stray tear rolling down his cheek.
It pained your throat to speak but instead you smile. So that’s all it was huh? You wanted to tell him that no one would say anything bad about him, and if they did, it didn’t matter. You knew him well, and knew that behind that tough exterior was someone who just wants to be accepted. Someone who wants to be loved.
You instead smile, tears rolling down your eyes. I love you too, you thought.
“There’s something happening to her vitals. What are you doing?” Viper suddenly asks as she monitors all the data in the screen. She gives Yoru an intense stare. “I’m not doing anything,” he replies angrily, wiping the tear away. “Her vitals are improving. Strange,” Viper says casually. “It seems that your radiant energy is better at siphoning the decay than radianite itself. How about we test this theory,” she sighs.
The doors open and she lets everyone inside, even those who weren’t radiant. “Y/N, we’re here. Get better soon okay?” Jett smiles, holding her arms. Phoenix stands next to Yoru, rubbing his shoulder. “You better recover soon, your boyfriend is losing his mind over you. I punched him in the face.” He chuckles, and Yoru hits him in the stomach, shooing him away.
“Is that so?” You manage to croak out, chuckling lightly. With that, Viper looks at the monitors again. “I see. It seems like the theory is true. You’re all cancelling the circular feedback loop. Y/N’s vitals are improving rapidly. Can you sit up?” Viper requests, and you try. Yoru helps you, smiling. “It still hurts but not as bad as before.” You could now say full sentences. You look at Yoru and smile widely.
“I love you,” you finally say, and he closes the gap with a kiss, his hands holding your head close, keeping you steady. Your hands weakly reach for his cheeks, caressing his soft skin. The rest watch with wide eyes. “I’ll never deny you again. I promise.” He says breathlessly, embracing you.
“There goes a new couple in the protocol. Any thoughts Brimmy?” Phoenix asks, and Brimstone sighs. “Just don’t let me catch you doing shit outside your rooms. That’s all I ask.” He groans. Viper on the other hand stood there, leaning back on the door, watching everyone. Seeing you both together warmed her cold heart somehow.

ㅤㅤPlasma [ Yoru x F! Reader ] [2] [ part 1 / part 2 ] words: 4.5k / Please refrain from stealing my work.
ㅤIt's known that earning Yoru's attention is a futile struggle. Still, the first to achieve it is you — a woman who plans for nothing beyond the optimal spot to doze off.ㅤ

It didn’t take long before you all finally arrived at the base. Fortunately, by the time the vehicle landed, Iso’s body was now capable of healing itself without your help anymore, and the curse on Clove’s bones seemed to be stagnant. All the while Omen suffered no effects from everything that had just occurred.
Perks of being a wraith, right? Or something like that.
With Sage's reassurance, you would potentially get examined, pulled aside to fill out some forms then finally be integrated in the protocol with a codename of your own. From the way she described it, it didn't sound like a very complicated process. Which was very amiss for a so-called covert protocol who were pretty much your enemies twenty minutes ago.
Things seemed to be looking up, you mused.
But just as you stepped foot outside of the vehicle, not only did the afternoon sun pierce your eyes like arrows, but you were met with a group of at least a dozen people… who all had their rifles aimed at you.
What a greeting, huh?
Suddenly you questioned their claims about how friendly the members of this Valorant thing were.
ㅤㅤ
“Who's this, exactly?”
ㅤㅤ
One green-eyed woman hissed before you could take in their appearances. Sage, however, emerged from within the aircraft, and just her presence loosened their grips on their weaponry
ㅤㅤ
“Viper, please, put down the guns! This is our new recruit!”
ㅤㅤ
You expected the expression of wrath to ease, but it wasn’t. In fact, given the look of surprised followed with anger as she glanced at the healer, it let you know her words made things worse.
ㅤㅤ
“Excuse me? I don’t remember giving you the authority to recruit agents on the spot, Sage.”
ㅤㅤ
Viper uttered her name with a certain amount of vitriol.
Then, a much larger hand landed on her shoulder, and all of your eyes were instead locked on a massive burly man with a peculiar orange beret. He triumphed over the chemist with ease in terms of both height and muscle. Despite all of this, however, he was clearly much less intimidating than her by appearance and posture alone.
ㅤㅤ
“Calm down, Sabine. I’m sure Sage had a good reason.”
ㅤㅤ
Sage nodded, relieved at his words.
ㅤㅤ
“The radiants the Scions of Hourglass recruited were incredibly dangerous; we would’ve suffered heavy losses without her. Besides,” she glanced at you with a warm smile, “she’s Iso’s friend. She can help us uncover more about them.”
ㅤㅤ
Viper promptly stared at you with narrow eyes. Her unchanged posture was enough indication that she wasn't phased by Sage's hopeful words in the slightest.
And despite seeing what was practically the worst of the worst, you felt a bit uneasy being ruthlessly scrutinised like this by who seemed to be their superior. So much for a more 'merciful' protocol. Viper was just like one of your superiors, only she didn't hide behind dozens of appearances and fake names to give out cruel orders.
Your train of thought burst once she suddenly put down her weapon.
Everyone put down their own guns with a wave of her hand. Then, she took a step forward, moving closer towards you. With every step, Viper's heels sharply clicked against the porcelain ground you all stood on. Her glare remained unyielding, and her grip on her pistol grew firmer.
ㅤㅤ
“I'm impressed this one managed to gain the trust of our most indispensable assets within...” she stopped and gave you a once-over, “a few hours.”
ㅤㅤ
You were taken aback by her description of Sage. But before any of you could bite back, the larger man stepped up and swiftly interrupted, his tone much louder and friendlier than hers.
ㅤㅤ
"Alright, listen, let's save this chit-chat for later and focus on what's important."
ㅤㅤ
"Of course... I should be taking care of Clove, after all."
ㅤㅤ
You were surprised Brimstone had the guts to say something like that while the rest hadn't dared utter a single sound. Nevertheless, Brim and Sage's attempts to take Viper's attention away from you were in vain. Her eyes still drilled through yours with an unfathomable amount of malice.
Unfathomable to others, of course. This look was very familiar to you.
ㅤㅤ
"I'll handle Sage. Brim, you'll be taking care of our guest."
It wasn't a suggestion, that much could be inferred.
However, you couldn't help but notice how everyone's expressions slightly shifted at this, some more obviously uncomfortable than others. And you also couldn't help but wonder what she meant by 'handling' Sage. Was she going to cut down her rations, or something? Perhaps restrict water and make her train vehemently for hours. Or maybe even public shaming, that sounded like something this green-eyed woman would do.
You smiled fondly at the punishments as they ran through your mind. Did you have a right to say 'good old days' already? You only left a few minutes ago.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You weren't really given the pleasure of seeing the events unfold, not since you were pulled aside in a pristine office with Brimstone. And so far, his questions seemed to fit Sage's words back in the aircraft.
He only asked for basic information. Your age, height, name, and abilities; nothing really about the Scions of Hourglass.
The conversation between you two was calm and, admittedly, unremarkable. In fact, your little brain got more dopamine out of simply inspecting your surroundings. There were charming pictures both hung on the walls and framed on the sturdy wooden desk in front of you, dog tags next to a laptop, a bulletin board cluttered with papers and pictures, even a little CD player on the side.
It was cute.
It was also a massive contrast to the argument you could hear just outside in the hallways. Well, you couldn't exactly hear it. Their words were muffled just enough to be inaudible mumbling. And the remarkable silence in the room only helped magnify the volume of their voices. Even with his questions and the new environment, your mind simply honed on the two women outside.
Was this on purpose? If so, then maybe you were right about that public shaming thing.
Huh.
ㅤㅤ
"What were you thinking, recruiting an enemy like that?"
ㅤㅤ
Viper questioned through gritted teeth, her fists clenched. And while Sage was clearly shaken up by this, her desire to defend her choices overwhelmed her thought process first.
Being in a dreary plain hallway made predominantly of metal, their voices loudly echoing throughout the constricted area, and the lights that hung above that emitted a lifeless glow — all of it contributed to the anxiety that stemmed from arguing with someone like Viper.
ㅤㅤ
"Viper, you don't understand, the damage they've done is irreversible! Clove could still very much be cursed, I–"
ㅤㅤ
"Iso's recruitment in and of itself was a misstep." Viper interrupted. "He only joined to kill Omen; how do you know she's not the same?"
ㅤㅤ
"I assure you, she's not! She has more reasons to go against them than to obey them!"
ㅤㅤ
Sage explained delicately as she took a step forward, both of her hands clasped together. However, her boss could only callously wave her off. Her tone grew harsher with each word, and at this point, she struggled to find reasons to keep Sage around.
Of course, that only applied if Viper wasn't only second-in-command.
ㅤㅤ
"The only reason Iso defected at all is because he happened to be sensitive. What do you think he would've done if he wasn't?!"
ㅤㅤ
"Iso and Clove both would've died if she hadn't alerted us to their state. Viper, I'm sorry but I don't think you understand the magnitude of the situation!"
ㅤㅤ
"Yes. Those two could've died because they were exposed to a rank we were unprepared for — the same rank from which you recruited a member."
ㅤㅤ
"Would you have preferred I let everyone die?!"
ㅤㅤ
Sage's desperation reached higher levels, evident in the slight shakiness of her high-pitched voice, but Viper remained unphased.
As per usual.
ㅤㅤ
"I would've preferred you not be negligent for once!" She stopped herself, promptly sighing and pinching her nose bridge. "I should've known better."
ㅤㅤ
For a moment, there was only silence; all Viper could do was lean on the nearby wall as she gathered her thoughts. And at this point, she heavily regretted not handling you whilst Brimstone dealt with Sage. Hoping to calm her thoughts, Sage opened her mouth to speak−
Then, the door swung open, swiftly interrupting their argument.
The two women didn't even need to look at the figure itself to recognise who it was, considering his massive shadow that concealed a quarter of the hallway's walls.
ㅤㅤ
"Sabine. You're gonna wanna see this."
ㅤㅤ
"What is it? Did she try something?"
ㅤㅤ
Viper's hand fell to her sides, and she turned around to meet his gaze, but the unconcerned look on his face said otherwise. A massive contrast to the chemist herself.
Brimstone couldn't help but chuckle.
ㅤㅤ
"No, it's just her powers. She controls blood... and there's some physiology jargon I don't get along with."
ㅤㅤ
He explained as he slowly stroked his beard.
Brimstone's voice had a softer lilt, he spoke at a much lower volume; Sage couldn't help but be pleased at this given that her throat began to strain from the argument. That, and the ringing in her ears. It was almost as aggravating as the unbearable beeps of a spike preceding its explosion. Including the unfathomable dread she'd feel.
Viper stared at him in silence, presumably looking over the situation. Or just to understand what the heck he meant by that. He couldn't be any less clear if he tried.
With a sigh, she glanced back at Sage, her hand held out.
ㅤㅤ
"Give me your gun."
ㅤㅤ
"There's really no need for–"
ㅤㅤ
"I wasn't asking."
ㅤㅤ
Viper bit back with gritted teeth, swiftly shutting her up. So, with a sigh, Sage took out her Sheriff and reluctantly placed it in her impatient boss's palm.
Gun in hand, Viper marched inside Brimstone's office with both of the superiors behind her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It took Iso a while to finally come out of his room and sit amongst the others in the lobby. And for the first thirty minutes, it was considerably empty. This unexpected stillness allowed him to simply relax on the comfortable sofa as he scrolled through a few dozen atmospheric songs to help calm him down — even though he had his earphones on and the battery was at 60%.
For a moment, the few people in the lobby minded their own business. This allowed Iso the time he needed to look over the situation without a clouded mind.
His mind was stuck on the mission and you.
To say he felt guilty at practically deserting you at the Scions would be a vast understatement. The second he handed Omen his phone to show him the mission was when he should've also alerted them about you. But he wasn't sure why he didn't. It's not like he had forgotten about you like everything else, but–
Iso flinched once the couch suddenly dipped on his right, and his eyes locked on a very familiar Scot who plopped themselves down directly next to him. Despite being a quarter of his size, the couch was compressed before forming back to its original shape once it adjusted to their weight.
Clove made themselves comfortable before resting one arm on the backrest of the couch, their big eyes glimmering as they glanced at Iso.
ㅤㅤ
"So, Zhao Yu, aye?"
ㅤㅤ
...
ㅤㅤ
"Huh? Oh, yeah. My name." He returned to scrolling. "You can call me Yu, though."
ㅤㅤ
"Really? But I've nae seen yer friend call you that."
ㅤㅤ
Clove asked with a tilt of their head, and Iso shrugged.
ㅤㅤ
"I tried telling her. Once."
ㅤㅤ
This statement made them pause. However, as they looked over what the heck he meant by that, the two didn't notice a figure peer over both of their shoulders.
ㅤㅤ
"So, Iso…"
ㅤㅤ
A high-pitched voice from behind them interrupted their short-lived conversation, and the duo looked over to see both Jett and Neon leaning on the backrest of the couch, their eyes locked on the hitman.
Iso quickly gave the room a once over. Wasn't it empty just a few minutes prior, with the exception of maybe Raze and Killjoy?
ㅤㅤ
"You didn’t tell us you had a friend from where you worked."
ㅤㅤ
Jett started, earning an eye roll from Neon.
ㅤㅤ
"Seriously. No offence, but from what you said back there, we all thought you were a lone-wolf, or whatever."
ㅤㅤ
After what felt like millennia, Iso finally settled on a song without lyrics to help him focus. He tapped on it and promptly pocketed his phone, finally meeting their gazes.
ㅤㅤ
"Technically, I worked alone. She was just my assigned healer."
ㅤㅤ
"Assigned healer!" Jett blurted out, her eyes twinkling with excitement. "You mean you had your very own medic to heal you after your missions?"
ㅤㅤ
"That’s, uh, one way to put it."
ㅤㅤ
"You had your own private healer? Sounds lavish, ja?"
ㅤㅤ
The duo jumped once another voice popped up from behind, and they looked over to see Killjoy leaning on the armrest. The one person Iso wasn't surprised to see.
The three women that surrounded them all bore that same look of excited curiosity. After all, the younglings suffered from a disease called 'being too expressive', and it was bloody obvious they were about to ask every question in the book to learn about you.
Clove couldn't help but lean towards Iso as their eyes jumped from one eager agent to the next.
ㅤㅤ
"Iso, we're getting surrounded."
ㅤㅤ
Iso replied with a light and awkward chuckle. However, before he could respond, Neon suddenly interrupted their would-be conversation with her own question.
ㅤㅤ
"Sige, chika! What's she like? Are you guys actually friends, or it's just that formal crap? How'd you two meet?" <Come on, let's gossip!>
ㅤㅤ
Neon spoke very fast. Almost too quick for him to keep up, but he managed to pick out the important words in her sentence.
ㅤㅤ
"Uh, no, we're friends; I've known her for a while... She's pretty cool." He shrugged. "But I don't remember how we met."
ㅤㅤ
"Lame. You don't remember anything."
ㅤㅤ
Jett grumbled. Clove, however, noticed Iso's very subtle yet uncomfortable reaction to her statement.
ㅤㅤ
"I'd kill to meet her. Hoy, where'd they say she was, again?"
ㅤㅤ
"I heard she's still with Viper. Do you think she's grilling her like she grilled Iso?"
ㅤㅤ
The others exchanged hums and looks of agreement. And because of this, the conversation continued between them, now discussing how they thought the Scions of Hourglass functioned and your role within it. But Iso was clearly and silently displeased at Killjoy's 'grill' comment. He only watched them converse in silence, after all, a slight furrow of his brow being the only indication of such a thing.
For once, however, there was only one person who noticed the aggravation in Iso — Clove glanced at him for a moment before they laid their head on his shoulder.
This gesture served as a successful attempt to ground and calm him. He couldn't help but lightly smile at this, allowing his mind to drift back to the conversation between the group.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fade was one of the ones who had their guns pointed at you back there. And unlike the other new agents, all whom she utterly disregarded due to their uninteresting personalities, you caught her eye... Really caught her eye.
From the moment you stepped out of the helicopter, Fade couldn’t take her eyes off of you. Your skin, despite most of it being concealed by the robes you wore, was as pale as a bone. And the midnight blue robes only brought out how malnourished you looked.
And your hair?
She loved the way it fell on your shoulders. Almost like wilted flowers that framed one half of your fatigued face while concealing the other with curls that could hardly hold themselves up. If death itself took on the appearance of a woman, she was sure you'd be the result. Her curiosity and desire to seek you out dictated all of her following actions. Which is why she was so willing to wait a few hours until your little talking session with her superiors was finally over.
In fact, she couldn't help but manipulate her essence of raw fear to isolate your location the moment she heard you were finally let go. Nobody knew where you were. But in more ways than one, the nightmare agent was an outlier from the rest.
She marched down the empty hallways as the whispers and shadows guided her to you.
And she found you; you were sitting under the gazebo in the courtyard. Chin on your hand, eyes closed, she wouldn’t have thought twice about you being dead if it weren’t for the rising motion of your chest as you breathed.
Well, that’s really her problem for associating so many things with death. Death, death, death.
Fade marched towards the gazebo and stopped in front of you, her shadow completely engulfing your figure. And yet, you hadn’t noticed the silent Turk. Her steps were impressively quiet, and the only thing that gave away her presence was the coldness emitted from her silhouette.
ㅤㅤ
“Hey.”
ㅤㅤ
Fade's sharp voice broke the previously tranquil silence. You barely lifted your eyelids to meet her gaze. But even with the sun, it was hard to outline her features in such darkness. Fade looked like an extension of the shadows.
She promptly crossed her arms.
ㅤㅤ
“I'm impressed you haven't been found yet.”
ㅤㅤ
At this point, opening your mouth to even reply felt like lifting twelve full suitcases with one hand. But alas, you had to.
ㅤㅤ
“You Valorant soldiers get impressed easily.”
ㅤㅤ
"Ha. Soldiers? Really? You're being too kind."
ㅤㅤ
"So what are you?"
ㅤㅤ
"Me? I'm amazing. Though, I'm not too sure about the others."
ㅤㅤ
You unwittingly tittered at her remark. The sound was unnatural coming out of you. But lord knows you couldn't help yourself, especially not in the face of such a bold woman.
You glanced up at her with a half-smile.
ㅤㅤ
"You know what? I l−"
ㅤㅤ
"I know you do. But for the sake of formalities... thanks."
ㅤㅤ
...
ㅤㅤ
"How did you know what I wanted to say?"
ㅤㅤ
Fade eyed the pearly white bench behind her, the one opposite to you. She promptly sat and made herself comfortable. Then, she glanced at you, a mischievous smile lifting the corner of her black lips.
ㅤㅤ
"I read your mind. Nothing special."
ㅤㅤ
...Wow, you thought to yourself. She really was something else, wasn't she?
However, once she sat down, you finally caught a glimpse of her own set of breath-taking features. Fade's voluminous hair transitioned from a rich black at the top to a bold grey, and that wasn't to mention her unique makeup. It definitely reminded you of something you couldn't put your finger on. Nevertheless, in the same way you hypnotised her, she did the same to you, and you couldn't help but observe those eyes she bore.
One brown, one blue — both competed for your attention and dared you to look away. Other than Iso, this was the first agent you genuinely wanted to speak to.
With all of the scraps of energy you could muster up, you sat up, reclining on the benches.
ㅤㅤ
“What’s your name?”
ㅤㅤ
“Fade. Yours?”
ㅤㅤ
“Y/N. What do you do?”
ㅤㅤ
“I have a lot to do with intuition. Getting into people’s heads, seeing their primal fears, secrets and everything else. It’s hard to hide things from me.”
ㅤㅤ
You half-smiled in response. Your old bosses would've exploited the heck out of her powers. Getting into people's heads? Absolute goldmine.
ㅤㅤ
“Tight. Are you in mine?”
ㅤㅤ
“Working on it. So, Y/N,” she reclined and rested her arm on the back of the bench, further making herself comfortable, “tell me a little bit about yourself. How come you know Iso and this pitiful organisation? And what do you, exactly?”
ㅤㅤ
You averted your gaze to the porcelain flooring, remembering how you got in. But it's not like it was an arduous task; you just spent the past hour or however long recalling everything you could when Viper questioned you earlier. It was a long, and, as you’d say, dumb story. Mostly because you were an incredibly lovestruck girl with radiant powers that just began emerging in your teen years.
Could you even be bothered to explain everything…?
ㅤㅤ
“I control blood. And I joined cus my boyfriend lied to me. Iso joined cus he was a kid.”
ㅤㅤ
Now that Iso wasn’t here, you were free to somewhat talk about this without making him anxious.
ㅤㅤ
“You control blood, and all you can do is heal? That doesn’t add up.“
ㅤㅤ
Word for word what Viper said, you noted in your mind.
ㅤㅤ
“Yup. Cus my powers are disabled.”
ㅤㅤ
She laughed at this, though it was more so a laughter of disbelief than anything else.
ㅤㅤ
“You can’t permanently disable a radiant’s abilities. It’s just not possible.”
ㅤㅤ
“You can if they’re developing.”
ㅤㅤ
“Okay, how did they do it? Did they attach a chip in you, or use some kind of suppression field?”
ㅤㅤ
You had no idea what she meant by a suppression field. Or chip. So you shrugged.
ㅤㅤ
"Dunno, they hired a load of scientists and they did their work."
ㅤㅤ
She nodded with a hum.
ㅤㅤ
“Have you told Viper about all of this?”
ㅤㅤ
“She offered to revert it.”
ㅤㅤ
“And?”
ㅤㅤ
“Dunno. Haven’t decided.”
ㅤㅤ
Fade tilted her head. Clearly, this surprised her as much as it surprised Viper and Sage. And Brimstone.
ㅤㅤ
“Is that seriously something you have to think about?”
ㅤㅤ
“Yup.”
ㅤㅤ
“Why?”
ㅤㅤ
“I don’t wanna learn anything new.”
ㅤㅤ
Fade stared at you for a few seconds, lightly swinging her leg back and forth as she went over what you said. And she couldn't decipher what on Earth you meant. No matter how she framed it.
After all, who would pass up on the opportunity to be able to finally access every aspect of their powers? Especially a late bloomer like yourself.
ㅤㅤ
“I can’t make sense of what you’re trying to get at, Y/N.”
ㅤㅤ
“Can’t you get in my head?”
ㅤㅤ
You noted the surprise on her face judging by the way her eyes slightly widened, and the subtle parting of her lips. It was a bold statement. Clearly, you meant it, your stony face conveying just as much.
Fade cracked a smile once more, amusement now etched all over her features.
ㅤㅤ
“Are you giving me permission?”
ㅤㅤ
You lazily lifted a hand and flashed her a thumbs up. And Fade stared at you for a few seconds, attempting to understand if this was a joke or not.
She secretly probed your brain throughout this whole conversation. Nothing special, she did this with everyone, even if it was an unconscious habit on her side. However, she knew if any one of the others found out, they'd definitely make a scene.
But you were okay with it. Which was perfect.
With this confirmation from you, it allowed her to pick up the painfully slow pace and freely dig into your brain. And, to her surprise, she couldn’t really find anything too debilitating.
Sure, you were just as traumatised as Iso no question as to how she knows that, but she couldn’t find anything intense within you. Not depression, not an overwhelming sense of anger, no lust for revenge, nothing. Heck, even the satisfaction of some of your old superiors being dead was naught.
Nothing but the strong desire to... what was it, be still?  It was something stagnant. Idle.
Whatever it was, matched the words you were saying, that’s for sure.
ㅤㅤ
“I’m sensing a detached energy from you.” She paused. “You want to relax? Is that it?”
ㅤㅤ
You replied with a thumbs up again. And Fade was delighted at her correct assumption.
She saw a bit more as she continued observing your brain. It wasn’t anything different from what you said; invasive experiments, different labs, scientists…
But Fade quickly stopped once she saw you shouting at a particular lilac-eyed child, presumably twelve, calling him a thief as you were held down by multiple people and forced to draw your own blood. Jesus, you were way angrier than she thought.
She suddenly shook her head like an irritated cat once she saw one specific memory. It took her a moment to come back from it no thanks to the ringing in her ears.
Fade glanced at you.
ㅤㅤ
“You can’t… naturally draw blood?”
ㅤㅤ
You shook your head. And Fade processed the situation.
This didn’t add up. Why did you undergo so many experiments to prevent you from fully accessing your abilities while the rest were free to make people brain dead within thirty seconds, or curse bones to form holes, or control bloody minds?
Why were you an outlier?
It clicked when she saw a few more memories, and a look of realisation painted her previously blank expression.
ㅤㅤ
"Do you understand why they suppressed you specifically, Y/N?"
ㅤㅤ
"I was a bratty kid. Could be that."
ㅤㅤ
You noted with a shrug, earning a smug smile form her. Bratty is an… well, after what she saw? It's not the word she'd use, that's for sure.
ㅤㅤ
“You don’t understand how devastating blood magic can be, do you?”
ㅤㅤ
Given that the sun mostly shined upon you while she herself was engulfed in darkness, she easily noticed the very slight raise of your eyebrow. Enough to indicate you were either curious, or confused.
ㅤㅤ
“My partners are worse.”
ㅤㅤ
Fade cackled at this, her laughter laced with innocent villainy.
ㅤㅤ
“Do you know just how much damage you can cause with these powers, Y/N? Do you know how many lives you can take with just a wave of your hand?” She tucked away a few strands of her black hair, allowing only her brown eye to be visible to you. “Blood is just like fear; you’ll find it in every single living being. And if you control it? You control everything.”
ㅤㅤ
You stared at her for a few seconds as you processed her words.
To her, you had basically won the radiant ability lottery. But to you? Well…
ㅤㅤ
“I don’t wanna control everything.”
ㅤㅤ
“Why not? Too much responsibility?”
ㅤㅤ
"I dunno. Starting all over sounds like work." You noted. "I don't like work."
ㅤㅤ
For a moment, there was only silence as she pondered over what you said. You weren't lying when you said you wanted to relax. But still, this desire seemed to stand in the way of — what she considered — powers with vast potential.
But it wasn't hard to see why you weren't convinced; after all, not only were you a late bloomer, you weren't even able to draw an adequate amount of blood.
Fade promptly leaned forward, resting both arms on her lap as she stared right through you; a mischievous glint in her visible eye.
ㅤㅤ
“Okay. You can stay as our healer and only draw a few pitiful drops of blood. But when you’re alone, weaponless, and surrounded, wouldn’t you want maybe… a blood weapon? A blood barrier?” She tilted her head. “Control over other peoples' blood?”
ㅤㅤ
You paused.
This made you remember the altercation you had with Iso, the entire reason you were defenceless when he finally got to you. You had just drawn blood moments prior, and thus, couldn't take out anymore until a few minutes had passed. But even if you managed to get blood, again, you weren’t capable of forming things beyond keys or whatever the heck couldn’t be used as a weapon.
And now that she said it out loud, it sounded pretty cool to be able to create barriers out of your own blood... without any drawbacks, probably.
So, you shrugged again.
ㅤㅤ
“K. I’m convinced.”
ㅤㅤ
“Finally. See, I knew you were smart. You'd have to wait until your files are processed, but it's a start."
ㅤㅤ
Fade noted as she pondered, her eyes locked on the porcelain floor. The visible one, anyway. And for a moment, you wondered what this entailed. Being free of your restrictions and being able to… Wait, besides the barriers, what'd she say? Make blood weapons? You quickly thought of making a spear. That would be so wicked, you thought.
Suddenly, she stood up, catching you off guard.
ㅤㅤ
“Enough talk — it's about time I introduced you to the clowns I work with. What do you say?”
ㅤㅤ
She held her hand out to you.
You stared at her palm, your eyes following the intricate designs that gently enveloped it. A pattern just as mysterious as the woman who created it.
With a smile, you slowly took her hand and stood up, promptly following her.

Jealousy is Green
Tumblr media
Characters: Sabine "Viper" Callas Type: Fluff, Oneshot, Fem!reader
I would pay for this woman to be possessive over me. actually, I'd pay her to ruin my life
Warnings: none
Tumblr media
After hearing about Viper bringing back another recruit, the agents of the Valorant protocol were buzzing with talk and excitement. They all wondered who this new mystery agent could be, and how you managed to impress their cold blooded Viper.
Upon meeting you, nearly everyone was elated. You weren't hard to get along with like many of the agents feared, instead being quite the opposite. You were an absolute joy to be around. You were helpful, a team player and always had a positive attitude. Even the self proclainmed 'lone wolf' Yoru warmed up to you quickly.
Viper was conflicted to say the least. Yes, she had expected you to get along well with majority of the team but not this well. Despite her usual attitude, she had taken a liking to you much more than the others. She knew you even before your recruitment, and you are one of the few people she trusts completely.
It's been about a week or so since she first brought you to the base. She watched from afar, sipping her coffee as you chatted with some of the deulists. She smiled ever so slightly at the sound of your laughter, before looking up to see the source.
Phoenix.
One of the most charismatic agents of the protocol. And he knew this. He was young, cheerful and insanely cocky. He currently had an arm over your shoulder, telling you bad jokes that for some reason still managed to get you to laugh. Viper's grip on her mug tightened ever so slightly as she failed to notice a certain frenchman walk into the room.
"You're green with jealousy, mon ami," he speaks, walking past her to open up a cabinet. Viper scoffs, drinking the rest of her coffee before setting her mug down and leaning against the counter.
"What the hell are you talking about, Chamber?"
"You have an eye for the new recruit, oui? You better act quick before someone else sweeps her off her feet. It might even be me!" He says, chuckling while returning to where he came from, now with a cup of coffee in hand.
Viper huffs before turning back to where you had been. She hates to admit it but Chamber was actually right for once. One thing she did know is that she refuses to lose, especially not to Phoenix. Finally, she leaves her spot in the kitchen to approach you.
"Oh, hey Viper!" you chime, noticing her before your male companion.
Without a word, she grabs your hand and pulls you off towards the lab she often worked in.
"Hey! What's going on?"
Once you get inside the door, she lets go of you, turning to face you.
"I don't like seeing you with Phoenix."
"What?" you question, raising an eyebrow at the woman. "What's wrong with- OHHHHHHHH!"
You cut yourself off with your own realization as a playful smirk makes it's way across your face. "I see what's happening here. Viper, you're greeennnnnn~"
"What does that even mean?" she sighs.
Giggling, you step closer to the woman before wrapping your arms around her.
"It means you're jealous. Jealousy is green," you answer, nuzzlng your face into her shoulder. Viper stood frozen for a moment, not used to physical affection. Slowly, she begins to relax and returns your embrace.
"Y'know, there's no need for you to be jealous. You're my favorite."

𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨// 𝙔𝙤𝙈𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙨𝙩 𝙛𝙖𝙣-𝙛𝙞𝙘 𝙤𝙣𝙚-𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙩!
(My first post in Tumblr?! :D)
Tumblr media
” I despise your creation, Fancy pants.”
The short Japanese man scoffed as he looks away from the gentleman in front of him.
“I’m quite hurt, Mon amour. I spent my time and years of learning are put into my pieces. You can hurt me but to disrespect my work is too much” He adjusted his matte black glasses and stared in Yoru’s back.
“Yeah and also spending time flirting with someone else, Viper? くたばれ, Vincent. I fucking hate you, falling for your stupid lies is the stupidest shit i’ve done my entire life. I can’t believe I trusted you.” He slammed his hands on the French man’s work space. “You fucking cheater.”
Chamber stared at the man he dearly love, unable to explain that the Chamber he saw wasn’t him but his mirrored one kissing—making out with the poisonous Viper.
“Ryo, please let me—“
“What? explain? I saw it with my own fucking eyes, Vincent Fabron. You fu—“ The Riftwalker stopped and took his time to breathe before looking back at the Marksman in front of him. Seeing the weapon enthusiast trembling of fear and hurt visible in his face, Yoru couldn’t help but regret every word he just dropped on his shoulders. “I need a break.” Yoru closed the door behind him leaving Vincent in a crying mess.
Yoru was holding back his tears, he saw him kissing a girl, was everything a whole lie? But the Chamber he saw felt different…yet how is he going to believe when he saw it with his two eyes??

Somewhere Only We Know
Yoru x Jett
-What is supposed to be going on between you? - Brimstone said very angrily, suddenly scaring them, that voice was the last thing they wanted to hear at that moment.
They were sitting together in the main hall of the barracks, comfortably on the couch and talking about the last confrontations that took place, about how those events can mark people, and also about what they usually talk about every time they can be together.
They already had a warning, they knew they were not to be together, or at least not to be seen together.
They hid their secret for a long time, seeing each other on the sly.
But now, they had been discovered.
-Yoru, you'd better go to sleep please.- said Brimstone seriously, very angry.
-No, if you want to talk about this, you'll have to talk about it with both of us. - Yoru exclaimed, very serious and angry.
Brimstone kept staring at Yoru defiantly.
He looked at Jett, she looked so scared and then looked at Brimstone, he just didn't know what to do.
-Brim...-
-Yoru, go to sleep.- Brimstone repeated with a tone of last warning, Yoru had no choice but to obey, walking away very angry and discouraged.
So, there stood Jett, in total silence, with Brimstone in front.
Yoru stopped in the distance and turned to look at her with all the sadness on his face, with guilt in his eyes, and slowly walked away, he knew Brimstone would scold her and he didn't want her to pay for their guilt, but he was afraid to defy him and end up in worse terms with him.
-The rules were set for everyone, Jett-
-Brimstone, I just need you to understand that I didn't do anything wrong... please listen to me, just for a moment-
-I don't need to hear anything, Jett, I don't need any explanation to know what's going on between the two of you.-
-I just need you to listen to me...-
-You were warned, since the last time I found you two together, you were warned. I will not tolerate this again. I don't want to be the villain of the story when we have much bigger problems to solve. Don't you understand everything that's going on right now? Do you think I have time for these problems?-
-Brimstone, I'm... I'm sorry, it's just that you have to understand that...-
-Go to sleep, Jett- He said coldly.
-What? Wait Brimstone! You're not even going to listen to me, are you? You don't understand anything, you would never understand this, you just get angry, you just get angry because you think it's wrong the simple fact that Yoru loves me, and I love him, what the hell is wrong with you Brimstone?...-
-Just go to sleep Jett, I'm going to take care of this situation early tomorrow morning. -
- No way... - She whispered to herself as Brimstone walked away and the automatic door closed behind him.
She covered her face with her hands, holding in all the rage she felt at that moment, trying not to cry.
She began to assume that Brimstone would talk to Yoru about everything, and the feeling of guilt ran through her body like a shiver, she closed her eyes tightly trying to release some tension. With Yoru, the two of them had spent months hiding so many moments, stealing emotions from the present, forbidden sensations. At that moment she had no idea what was going to happen. And she was scared.
What could Brimstone do?
What would he do now that he had found them together?
She went very sadly to bed, but she couldn't bear to cry, until she fell asleep.
The next morning she wakes with a start, remembering how much she cried before she fell asleep.
She sits up slowly and rubs her eyes, as her vision clears from sleep she notices that in front of her is Yoru, looking at her sadly, but still trying to smile at her.
She gets up surprisingly and approaches him.
-But... What are you doing here? If Brimstone finds out that you're here.... -
- Come with me. - He takes her hand and a blue aura envelops them, the portal transports them in a couple of seconds to the outskirts of the barracks near the lagoon they used to frequent.
-Yoru... What's going on? -
He sighed, took her hands and looked her in the eyes.
- I will leave... -
- What? What are you saying? -
- I'm no longer part of the Valorant protocol, Brimstone asked me to leave. -
-No... Yoru... You... he can't do that...-
She thought about what she had just said and realized that Brimstone could, and had, of all the things that could go wrong, this was turning into a nightmare, but she wanted that, for it to be a nightmare, for nothing to be real.
-Brimstone told me to leave before the sun comes up, that's why I had to wake you up, I needed to talk to you before I left, you woke up just in the nick of time.-
-I don't know what to do. What do I do to make you stay...? - Jett said desperately.
-Even though we were able to keep it a secret for a long time, sooner or later he was going to find out... deep down we knew it, Jett. - He said stroking her hair, she began to feel tension all over her body and despair, believing that everything that was happening couldn't be real.
-It's my fault... all of this... - she said.
-Don't say that please, Jett, look at me, we went against the rules, and even though it was a very absurd rule, I wouldn't change a thing, everything we went through together I think, is the best I've ever spent with anyone in my whole life. -
-...is that you don't have the slightest idea of what you mean to me, in this place, Yoru...-
-Jett, listen to me, you are stronger than you think, it's in you, even if I'm not here, I want you to discover it, that strength inside you, you are brave, and I admire you so much...-
-Please don't go. - said Jett with his eyes filling with tears and despair invading his body.
-Let's go back to the barracks- he said when he saw her so bad, hugging her by the shoulder, Yoru opened another portal that would take them back to the barracks.
She went to her room, changed out of her nightclothes into her usual wardrobe to join him outside, while he waited for her in the main hall.
Jett was not the type of person who often cried, she was always very giggly, cheerful, but on this occasion she couldn't stop the tears, she tried to wipe them away one by one, as more fell.
-The sun is almost up. - she said to herself looking out the window as she walked to the living room, she ran to Yoru and hugged him as she had never done before, she closed her eyes in her embrace.

-Please don't go. - she whispered to him.
-I have to go. - he said, very sad.
-I promise we will meet again. - She said letting her tears fall in front of him, while she continued hugging him tightly.
Tumblr media
-Don't cry Jett. - He said caressing her hair and at the same time feeling his heart break when he saw her so sad with her eyes full of tears, she had never shown herself like that in front of anyone. Yoru knew he was very important to her, the situation told him so.

Suddenly.
She kissed him.
Tumblr media
Yoru was in shock.
They had never kissed, both coming from very different families and cultures, so they had chosen to save such displays of affection until an opportune moment.
And for Jett that was the right time.
He wrapped his arms around her and the warm kiss ended with her looking into his eyes.
He let her cry on his shoulder.
He had never felt more in love than he did that day, that moment.
Despite the sad circumstances.
He took her hand and they walked outside, slowly, towards that place only they knew, on the shore of the lake, where they used to talk for hours in secret, where they would say goodbye. After several minutes of just being there, listening to the silence, their hands slowly let go and Yoru began to walk away.
-I'm going to miss you so much. - she said to him with a trembling voice.
-I'll miss you too, little Jett. -
Tumblr media
In a matter of seconds Yoru was gone, his trace had disappeared, taking with him all the moments they spent together, all the feelings that had changed Jett, in a world at war, where everything is pain and suffering, she had been able to find a source of happiness, which was now gone.

There are situations that generate a very deep sadness, which over time can evolve and turn into anger, it is not easy to hide emotions or hide them in plain sight, it requires a lot of strength. But sometimes keeping everything is not a good decision either, when the explosion of everything accumulated can cause a catastrophe in the person, causing the person to change completely, becoming a different version, that happened to little Jett, from that day her heart began to cool down little by little.

@hidru : I really hope this is to your liking. I've been thinking about a really long Soviper and You x Jett story for a long time, in fact I'm starting with drafts, this excerpt would be part of that story but I was very interested in sharing it as a short story too. As you know English is not my first language, but I would really love to make you enjoy the story :)
I apologize and ask for your understanding for any grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, redundancies and other details :(
