                 They hardly ever had time off, so you’d think when they did get time off, they’d be off doing their own thing, on the contrary they were exploring another city which they had encountered on a previous mission the month before. The city itself was the embodiment of an alien city, nothing looked even close to what were found in mainly human cities and towns but that’s what gave it it’s beautiful allure. Had she more so dragged him through the market three times over? Yes but she couldn’t really help it, she still had a sense of awe when it came to the world he brought her into.

“I’m done if you want to go somewhere else now.” Her head popped over his shoulder from behind, a couple bags in her hand, mainly of little art pieces she thought would look nice in the ship but besides that it was a pretty uneventful shop. “What are you looking at Valérian?”

       “   I HEARD YOU   &   LAURELINE had a rough time with the kaiju stationed a few miles west from here.   “ tray of jello in hand, mako doesn’t ask to sit opposite the jaeger pilot   &   instead, makes herself comfortable. “   glad to see you came out okay,   “ she remarked with a nod. “   mister pentecost was on the edge of his seat as he watched your fight. i’ve   ------   never seen him so distressed !   “

       IT WAS NOW OR NEVER. with the kaiju war seeming to rage on forever, it left little time to dwell on the future. was there even a possible future for the human race ? who’s to say. but lately the warrior has felt something for the pilot that she had never felt before,   &   truth be told, she wasn’t sure how to handle it. mako was good at keeping her feelings buried deep where no one could see them, but it proved to be difficult with every moment they spend together. there’s a hanging fear that hovered over her however, not wanting to ruin their friendship for the sake of silly emotions. what if he didn’t feel the same ? still, one could not predict when the end of the world would happen. if she didn’t do it now, when ? fingers hesitate for a moment as she reaches up to the busy pilot, finally taking the plunge   &   tapping him gently on the shoulder.

       “   MISTER LAUX   ------   er, i mean val.   “ she chews her bottom lip, already feeling a shade of red growing across her cheeks. “   can i   ------   talk to you for a minute ?   “

       “   YOU KNOW WHAT I WOULD like to do if this war were to ever be over ?   “ exhaustion crossed the warrior’s features, another bout of training completed. however, both couldn’t be bothered to move, sitting against the wall of the kwoon next to one another. while she enjoyed these training sessions she shared with valerian, it was the quiet moments she was beginning to enjoy more. mako had not connected with anyone in the ‘dome like this,   &   it made her feel less alone in this kaiju infested world. someone to talk to   ------   someone to relate to.

       MAKO’S HEAD COMES TO LEAN against the pilot’s, her petite hand coming to gently massage through his dark locks. the idea of a world without kaiju seemed like a far-fetched idea, but one could dream, couldn’t they ? “   i’d like to see the world. perhaps   ------  maybe even seen the world with someone ...   “

       “   OH MY GOODNESS ! VALERIAN !   “ hands would come   &   playfully swat at his arm   ——    a comment that would normally embarrass her instead elicits a loud laugh from rosy lips. after a long day of working in the jaeger bay, the pilot managed to convince the wearied warrior to join him in sharing a drink, a rarity for her as she does not like to indulge in the pleasures of alcohol too often. but seeing as how she wanted to spend more time with him   &   relax after such a trying day, she determined that one drink would not harm her. hands come up to cover her lips, attempting to hide   &   calm her giddy laughter as she leans on his shoulder. the warmth of the alcohol had already spread across her body, the once timid   &   shy woman now much more daring around the man she’d come to like.

       LIPS CURL INTO A DEVIOUS GRIN, an idea formulating. eyes would drift to the bottle of liquor valerian held in one hand, marking it as her next target. the pilot would not give it up so willingly, so a plan of action had to be made. “   you know,   “ she drawled out, leaning closer into his form. this was closer than she’s ever been to him, liquid courage granting her the ability to be so bold. “   obviously i have not seen either, BUT   ——   “ a hand game to gently stroke his cheek, all while the other slowly made it’s way to grab the bottle from him, unsuspecting. lips gently brush against his ear, tone low   &   sensual. “   i wouldn’t mind seeing it, if given the chance.   “ as hot breath blew into his ear, her hand finally managed to snatch the wanted bottle from the pilot, grinning madly. no doubt he would fight her for it later, but for now she would relish in her victory. arms would curl around him in an apologetic embrace, pulling away slowly as she uttered one, simple phrase in a low whisper: “   gotcha.   “

       IT SHOULD BE OBVIOUS THE REASON for the warrior’s sudden change in demeanor, a permanent smile locked onto her features since they made their feelings known. her heart seemed to SWELL every moment she found herself near the pilot, pulse   &   temperature RISING with every caress   &   touch. it’s a feeling mako has never experienced before, but the rush was enough to get her hooked. eager to have valerian close to her form once more, she’d gently tug at his hands   ;   her way of beckoning him closer. she should be meeting with the possible new recruits for the old lady danger, but this was her TOP PRIORITY.

       “   ISN’T IT OBVIOUS ?   “ she queried in a lilted tone, finding herself leaning closer until they were practically nose to nose. slender arms would slip themselves around his shoulders, leaning closer until their lips were only a few centimeters apart. it’s an endearing dance she does with him, swaying lightly as she gazes at him with wanting eyes. cheeks redden only slightly in that moment, feeling her pulse rise as mako whispers out the answer he originally sought after. “   you.   “

        “   GLAD TO HEAR YOUR STAY AT the shatterdome has proven to be a good one.   “ clipboard at the ready, mako begins to take down valerian’s opinion, pen furiously writing. it was one of her many duties that stacker had assigned   ;   see to it that the jaeger pilots were well accommodated. eyes glance up for a moment, lips tugging into a small smile. “   forgive me if this may sound ‘ awkward, ‘ but i feel very content to have you   &   laureline with us here. i truly admire your hard work   &   dedication.   “ cheeks grow a rosy color as she compliments the pilot, tucking a blue lock of hair behind her ear. hopefully that comment wouldn’t scare him into changing his mind about the shattedome !
