Today @vdayeotr had the pleasure of presenting a check to @dash_dc from our fundraising efforts from the 2019 Vagina Monologues, East of the River Campaign This donation will assist in the continuation of funded programs, after school/self care initiatives, and client related needs. If you’re not familiar with @dash_dc ...DASH is an organization founded by WOMEN, run by WOMEN, to keep survivors safe. They are the only domestic violence housing program in DC that welcomes all survivors – regardless of gender identity, however, 95% of survivors in their programs identify as women. We Salute You! Nusrat Jahan Rafi #sayhername A woman that was brave to speak out, all the way up to her final breath, against her assailants. A woman who kept her head high, later pinned to the ground, while being set on fire for reporting sexual harassment. A woman who was victimized over, over, over and over again....ridiculed, mocked, shamed, bullied....just for her victimization to be amplified over social media. ~ "When a woman tries to get justice for sexual harassment, she has to face a lot of harassment again. The case lingers for years, there is shaming in society, a lack of willingness from police to properly investigate the allegations," said Salma Ali, a human rights lawyer and former director of the Women Lawyers' Association. I pray her family finds comfort; she will forever be honored as a shero across the world. Nusrat, like countless others, risked their life, to save others.
