The Dino 246 was the first automobile manufactured by Ferrari in high numbers. It is lauded by many for its intrinsic driving qualities and groundbreaking design. In 2004, Sports Car International placed the car at number six on its list of Top Sports Cars of the 1970s. Motor Trend Classic placed the 206/246 at number seven in their list of the 10 "Greatest Ferraris of all time".

Audi Quattro Spyder Concept, 1991. A fully working prototype mid-engined sports car powered by Audi's then new 2.8 litre V6. The Quattro Spyder, with a removable roof panel, seemed plausible for production but it was not until 2006 with the R8 that Audi put a mid-engined sports model into series production.

Concept Cars; How Car Manufacturers Flex Their Imaginations

Since at least the 1930s, concept cars of some form have existed. Most are promptly forgotten as soon as a new group appears, but many are remembered by the public for years. Car concepts could almost entirely remain behind closed doors, or they could be used to promote the brand at a global auto show, or it could be something else entirely.
Concept Cars, The 1940 Aston Martin Atom
Originally equipped with a 2.0-liter overhead-cam engine, the Atom was a compact and strikingly designed sedan. However, in 1944, it was replaced by a pushrod engine with a slightly bigger capacity. It must have impressed David Brown (1904-1993), who drove it just before he decided to purchase the business, but a production version was never made.
Concept Cars, The 1955 Chrysler Falcon
The Falcon, a fast two-seat roadster with a 4.5-liter Chrysler Hemi V8 engine, was principally designed by Virgil Exner (1909–1973) and constructed by Ghia. It may have been a rival for both the first-generation Ford Thunderbird and the original Chevrolet Corvette, but Chrysler chose not to proceed with its release. It was unveiled two years after the first Chevrolet Corvette.
The 1968 Alfa Romeo Carabo
When Marcello Gandini created the scissor doors and low wedge shape for the mid-engined Carabo, he must have been staring straight ahead into the future. The world may not have been prepared for anything like this in the 1960s, but Alfa Romeo prevented it from progressing past the concept stage. The Carabo, however, is very similar to another vehicle that Gandini created. In contrast to the previous concept, the Lamborghini Countach went on sale in 1974. The 1970 Mazda RX-500
The RX-500 initially appeared to have been created for similar purposes as the Alfa Romeo Carabo. It had a mid-mounted engine (in this instance a twin-rotor), butterfly swing doors, gullwing engine covers, and a wedge shape—albeit not nearly as severe as the Carabo's. All of this shouted "supercar!" but the RX-500 was actually designed to highlight Mazda's safety studies. It included a row of lights at the back, among other things, to let oncoming vehicles know if the vehicle was closing down, accelerating, or maintaining speed.
Concept Cars, Nissan 126X
The 126X, another wedge-shaped idea from 1970 (a lot of that kind of stuff was going on at the time), shared the Mazda RX-500's changeable rear lights. It had a slightly less supercar-like form than the Alfa Carabo or Mazda, but it was still somewhat strange. Nissan outperformed the other manufacturers in one area: the roof, windshield, and front body panels were all part of a canopy that opened from the front to provide access to the cabin.
Concept Cars, The 1976 Alfa Romeo New York Taxi
Despite being only four meters (157 inches) long, Italdesign's solution to a challenge set by the New York Museum of Modern Art was able to accommodate five people and had room underneath the seats for folding wheelchairs. Sliding doors on both sides added to the practicality, which was rather unique for 1976. You don't now link Alfa Romeo with New York taxis because the project was abandoned after the car was constructed. Shame, because it's a fascinating idea.
Concept Cars, 1978, Lancia Sibilo
The Megagamma and the Sibilio are only related since they both wore Lancia badges and attended the 1978 Turin Motor Show. They were as dissimilar from one another as chalk and China, otherwise. In essence, the Bertone-designed Sibilo was an even longer and more bizarre-looking Stratos. A 2.4-liter Ferrari V6 engine powered both the idea and the final vehicle.
The 1986 Audi Sport Quattr RS 002
The RS 002 was never meant to be merely a theoretical idea. This mid-engined coupe was one of several vehicles constructed for the Group S international motorsport regulations, which were set to replace Group B in 1987. It used the same mechanics as the Quattro rally cars. Group S was dropped in favor of the more production-based Group A after a string of catastrophic crashes. Before the car participated in a single race, the project was canceled because the RS 002 could not have been produced in sufficient quantities to qualify.
The 1992 Renault Reinastella
The Reinastella, a purely fictional vehicle that was reportedly part of the company's lineup in the 2328 model year, was on display at Disneyland Paris. It was named after a real Renault that was temporarily manufactured about 1930. Since it's hard to choose the right tense in this situation, we'll assume we're talking from the middle of the 24th century and say that the Reinastella could fly up to 186 mph and fly 15 cm (6 in) over the road in town and 150 meters (492 ft) above it in the country. A prototype appears to have absorbed the remains of its two occupants when it crashed during desert testing. Renault employed a redesigned construction that was incompatible with animals for production models.
Concept Cars, 1999, Bugatti 18/3 Chiron
The 18/3 Chiron was first produced when Volkswagen first acquired Bugatti. A 6.3-liter, 555-bhp engine with 18 cylinders grouped in three banks—thus the 18/3 part of the car's name—powered the three designs that were created around the same time. The remainder alludes to Louis Chiron (1899–1979), a Monegasque driver who competed in a number of vehicle brands but is arguably best known for his exploits in Bugattis. Bugatti's hypercar, which debuted in 2016, was given the Chiron name.
Concept Cars, 2006 Saab Aero X
Saab claims that the company's background in aircraft design served as some inspiration for the Aero X. This was partially demonstrated by the need to raise the cockpit canopy in order to allow passengers to enter and exit, which may be troublesome if you were unlucky enough to land rubber side up. It was claimed that a bioethanol-fueled twin-turbo engine could generate 400 horsepower, and the style elements suggested a future design language. Unfortunately, this was not very successful, and Saab was discontinued less than ten years after the Aero X was introduced.
2010 Citroen Metropolis
The Metropolis, an extremely large sedan that was especially popular in China, was as wide as a Maybach and longer as an Audi A8L. Power was provided by a 2.0-liter V6 engine and an electric motor as part of a gasoline-electric hybrid drivetrain. According to reports, this has the same amount of muscle as a 4.0-liter V8 that isn't hybrid, but it emits a fifth as much CO2. In 2020, the comparable DS 9 made its debut in China, while the Metropolis was never launched on the market.
2012, Chevrolet Code 130R
A tiny, rear-wheel-drive Chevrolet with a 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that could generate about 150 horsepower was proposed as the Code 130R. There was a lot of support for a production version, and it was well received. One of the main reasons this never happened was because GM would have needed to create a new platform on which to build it. Read the full article

Let's keep the failed Italian company topic going and today, we're gonna talk about one of the most successful automaker in Italy and possibly the world when it comes to rallying and that's Lancia. However, instead of breaking down everything Lancia did, we're just gonna go thru their rally cars, possibly a few of their wackier cars and what happened to the brand.
Pics from top to bottom in a zigzag left to right pattern: Lancia Fulvia HF -> Lancia Stratos flying round a corner during the Rally Monte Carlo -> Lancia 037 on the run -> Lancia Thema 8.32 -> Lancia Delta S4 drifting round a corner during the Rally Monte Carlo in the winter -> Lancia Delta Intergrale HF
Lancia was one of Italy's biggest automakers who were really passionate when it comes to motor racing and was at one point, Italy's top automaking company that was really very innovative but despite however they tried, their road racing efforts would not rival their next biggest rival in the top flight of international racing, Formula One thus they quickly sold the F1 entity to Ferrari in 1955 and went on racing hiatus for a period of time for factory effort.
With the 60s rolling in, rallying in Europe became the new motorsport event to join and thus, the FIA started a International Championship for Manufacturers and Lancia jumped to the sport and bought out a privateer team, HF Squada Corse who was already racing with Lancias in 1965 and turned it into a full works team being directed by Cesare Fiore. They would also push the Fulvia coupe to work the very same year as Lancia's first actual foray into rallying. The Fulvia coupe also came in various engine configuration along the way it was competing starting with the HF 1.3 where, as the name suggests, has the 1.3L V4 engine making 100hp. By 1967, they had plopped in the 1.6L V4 into the Fulvia and now renaming it as the "Rallye 1.6 HF" which with the new engine, the Fulvia now makes 130hp. The Fulvia would compete in rallying from 1965-1972 and along the way would clock multiple championships, most importantly the Italian Rally Championship where the Fulvia bagged it every year from 1965-1973 except 1970. It would also win the early-form of the World Constructors Championship in 1972. The Fulvia has also proven that despite being underpowered, it would also be able to take down more powerful machines like the Porsche 911 but by 1973, cars are getting more powerful and Lancia also realized that thus they quickly make a new car for the upcoming World Rally Championship the FIA has set up.
Despite Lancia's success in rallying, the main company was struggling and thus, Fiat, the biggest automaker in Italy launched a takeover in October 1969 and same as Ferrari, Fiat allowed them to do their own things. To prep for the upcoming new WRC, Lancia has a think and decided that to make it more competitive, they're gonna make a mid-ship vehicle which would shorten the car alot and make it super agile. However, instead of working with Pininfarina, Lancia suddenly decided to work with Bertone, someone they had never worked with but just their luck, the ex-designer for the Lamborghini Miura, Marcello Gandini picked Lancia's case up and soon, designed the Lancia Stratos Zero prototype up and sent it to Lancia's factory for a review which was raved upon by the workers. From there, Bertone would once again scaled down the Stratos Zero concept and turn it into the HF outlook that we know now and was launched for the public eye in 1971 at the Turin Autoshow. Lancia and Bertone had plans to use the Ferrari Dino's 2.6L V6 but due to Ferrari still making the Ferrari Dino at that time and rejected supplying Lancia with the engine, the initial Lancia Stratos HF concept used the Fulvia engine but when the Dino ended production in 1972, they would finally deliver all the surplus engines they had towards Lancia resulting in 500 engines received. The car, once completed was raced as prototypes straight in 1973 and due to the powerful engine, short body, agile chassis and lightweight, the Stratos would dominate the rallying world as the engine could make 275hp with the 12v headers and 320hp with the 24v headers. It would also be one of the most powerful engines used in rallying during that period which justifies the domination the Stratos received. It would also sweep the WRC titles 3 years in a trot from 1974-1976. However, Fiat would back their own team, the Abarth with the 131 Abarth and that would jeopardize Lancia quite abit but despite lacking Fiat's support, the Lancia Stratos would still bag wins in certain events to as deep as 1981.
In 1982, the FIA would launch a new class for racing and that's Group B where everything is off the rails and the controls to race was very, very low thus giving companies free reign to do almost what they want. Lancia quickly went to work and made the Lancia 037. Having experience with mid-engined vehicles with the Stratos, Lancia wanna continue the tradition and thus they took the already existed (yes, existed cuz when they did the project, the car has already stopped production) Montecarlo, tore it all down and remade it up again. Whatever metal that the car doesn't need got torn down and replaced with plastic parts. Lancia would also use the successful Fiat Twin Cam engine being enlarged to 2.1L and supercharged to power the vehicle and with said engine, it would make approx 280-325hp depending on rallies. The car would be homologated and the road-going version would be the 037 Stradale but for the race car, it was super light and quick. As it debuted in the 1982 Rally Monte Carlo, it proved its worth. However that very same year, Audi had joined the party and shown out with their turbocharged 5cyl with AWD in the Audi Quattro, a new tech at that time but the car was fraught with problems and reliability issues thus that year, Opel would win the Constructors with their Ascona 400 and thus, gave Lancia hope that AWD might not be it and RWD would still have hope thus they didn't do much to change the recipe and pushed the car for competition yet again for the 1983 season. But this time, Audi wasn't playing and in fact, improved alot and the breakdowns were lesser than the previous year, now fighting toe-to-toe with the 037. Audi would dominate on the dirt tracks whereas Lancias with their RWD and light weight would dominate on the tarmac rallies. Despite that difference, the Audis would prove to be useful still as it has superior traction thus lesser margin for error. Lancia would win the Constructors for 1983 also but thru sheer trickery of and multiple manipulation of the rules and Audi would win the WDC. Lancia themselves could also see the writing's on the wall and AWD would be the future way to go fast thus directly after the season, they started to build a new machine and this time, with AWD.
In the meantime of racing in rallying, Lancia also needed to continue building cars but unlike other European carmakers, Lancia was lacking a sports sedan/saloon and thus, the engineers got to work yet again but this time, Fiat would join in the venture and together, they would all share the same platform together with the Swedish firm, Saab. From there, Lancia would build the Thema but Lancia being Lancia, they definitely had to change it massively and to do that, they yet again went to Ferrari for help and by 1986, they got that help. Ferrari would send Lancia the Tipo F105L 2.9L V8 from the 308 GTS and would make 215hp. Lancia would then shoehorn that engine into the Thema and they would call it the "8.32". 8 = 8 cylinder, 32 = 32 valves. Despite being FWD, it was relatively quick and would perform well enough that it gave the other European sports sedan of its time like the Audi 100, the BMW 535i and the Ford Sierra Cosworth a run for their money.
After the 1983 season ended and knowing RWD would not last in rallying anymore, Lancia took an existing model, the Delta and stripped everything off again and rebuild it from the ground up. This time round, they already had it easy as the Delta already had a base AWD model thus that was the easy part for Lancia but the hard part now was to make it quicker and much more competitive than the Audi Quattro. To do that, Lancia took the 1.8L inline-4 engine from the 037 Stradale and twincharged it and by twincharging, it has both supercharger and a turbocharger. As turbos back then were super laggy in delivering power and would only build power at the top of the rev range due to recycling the exhaust gases back into the engine, Lancia decided to slap a supercharger which was ran from the cam gear to send boost when the car was at lower rpms thus in a way, eliminating turbo lag plus with the setup, the engine made over 480hp, the most powerful on the grid. Lancia also read the rules for Group B and found out that there's a multiplier for engine size that the lower the engine displacement, the lesser weight it can have for their car so instead of just using the old 2.1L engine, the 1.8L worked as now, Lancia can make the car paper light which, they did and to improve the balance of the car, they would also turn the car from front-engine to mid-engine setup and would name the car the "Delta S4". The team would work on the car fully throughout 1984 thus the 037 was still used for that year and the Delta S4 would debut in 1985 at the RAC rally but this time, a new player has joined the game and threw both Lancia and Audi into a spiral and that was Peugeot with the 205 Turbo 16 and dominated that year. The car would compete fully in 1986 and the battle for both the WDC and Constructors were between Lancia and Peugeot duking it out. However, as we've previously mentioned in other posts, 1986 was the death of Group B and ironic enough, the Delta S4 was the loaded gun that assassinated Group B itself. After the major crash of the Ford RS200 at the Rally Portugal, many drivers started to call the class to be dangerous and they're worried that they might lose their life if things continued that way but the FIA heeded none of it and the race continued towards the Tour de Corse rally. Henri Toivonen was Lancia's ace at that time and was projected to win the WDC for that year but prior to Tour de Corse, he was down with the flu but he said he was fine to race and somehow, he was cleared by the doctors to race and he proved to be, even being the quickest during qualifying and on the actual race day being the leader on certain stages. However, during the 18th stage the following day, the Delta S4 driven by Toivonen and with his co-driver Sergio Cresto would suddenly plunge down the ravine and burn the entire car up due to the crash, killing them both on the spot. By the time the rescue team reached the crash site, the kevlar bodyshell has already melted off completely from the fire. Post-investigation would find out that due to focusing the car for the tarmac Tour de Corse rally, the protection skidplates for the fuel tanks were removed and thus the fuel tanks were not protected and the crash ruptured the fuel tanks and with the turbo being hot, it ignited the fuel and thus within seconds, it became a flaming inferno. It also didn't help that the FIA would also find that to make the car real light, Lancia had skimp on the rollcages to be as thin as possible in the inner diameter so that from the naked eyes, it would pass scrutinering but in any form of crash, it would fold itself like a wet paper towel roll tower without giving any form of rigidity. With the teams flouting the rules and the cars getting out of hand in speeds and horsepower plus the two high profile crash, the FIA would cancel Group B altogether for 1987.
To keep rallying going after the fiasco of Group B, the FIA would then revise it and push out the Group A regulation. Unlike Group B, Group A's regulation drastically capped the horsepower figures and instead of letting manufacturers run prototype-like cars and with minimal production numbers made, Group A needed a full production car to be used and homologation for the race car has to be at least 2,500 models road-going models built, no more "25" cars bullshit. Whilst other manufacturers was struggling to adapt to the new Group A rules, Lancia yet again had the easy life as they already had the AWD base Delta thus they didn't need to do much except to prep the AWD model for rallying and its done. With the 2L turbo inline-4, the car would see various forms being used and the base 4WD model which would race during the inaugural Group A ruling season with approx 200hp and would win the 1987 outright plus the following season in 1988. However, despite dominating, Cesare would find the car to still be lacking as by 1988, other competitors were getting faster and with the small tires and brakes of the base 4WD Delta, it was not handling as well as the team hoped so and the 5spd gearbox was having consistent reliability issues thus for the 1989 season, they rolled out the improved car now with wider arches to accommodate wider wheels and bigger brakes and now, its called the "HF Integrale". The other manufacturers were not slacking also and this time, the Japanese manufacturers were also picking up the pace with manufacturers like Mitsubishi and Toyota showing that they got their mojos flowing already. Lancia also started to even the odds and with the good base with the Integrale, Lancia yet again upgraded their car and now increased the valves to the engine from a mere 8 to 16v. With that, the 16v Integrale would debut in 1989 and right off the gate, the 16v Integrale would be the most powerful car of the season with power figures going as high as 320hp and some even rumoured that it was about 400hp, way more than what the FIA has dictated but they were not the only ones that did it above the 300hp figure and since the FIA didn't really care, Lancia managed to skirt thru the rules. With that being said, all variants of the Lancia Delta rally car clinched the Constructors 6x in a row from 1987-1992.
By 1993, Lancia was in turmoil as reports that Lancia was using cheap steel to make their cars which would turn them into a super rusty mess in just within 3 years of ownership which turned out to be true and after that report came out, Lancia's sales tanked and with the high cost for their "no bars hold" for their rallying effort, the financial situation for Lancia would spiral out of control and thus would stop competing in rallying as a factory team by the very same year. Lancia would also flounder for abit and by 1994, stopped producing their own cars and whatever else they made were rebadged and reverse engineered Fiat and thus, Lancia lost its own company and identity since then.
Italy can be called the "graveyards of car companies" that soo many rose to prominence but also crash and burned out hard, Lancia being one of them who from the height of rallying, crash and burned to crisps into making cheap econo shitboxes.

Is the Ford Ranger Raptor Exhaust System Worth Upgrading?
The Ford Ranger Raptor is notable as one of the most proficient off-road trucks available, providing a distinct combination of strength, resilience, and top-notch engineering. Engineered for tackling tough landscapes, it boasts sophisticated suspension, a strengthened chassis, and a twin-turbocharged engine that provides an exceptional driving experience. Nonetheless, a key element that significantly influences the vehicle’s overall performance and driving enjoyment is the exhaust system. The exhaust is tasked with channeling gases away from the engine, affecting emissions, power output, efficiency, and noise levels. For numerous Raptor owners, enhancing the exhaust system is an appealing idea, but is it genuinely a worthwhile investment?
Understanding the Ford Ranger Raptor’s Stock Exhaust System
The Ford Ranger Raptor features a factory-built, performance-focused exhaust system designed to enhance its robust 3.0L twin-turbo V6 engine. A notable feature is the active valve twin exhaust system, providing a degree of customizability rarely seen in mid-size trucks. The electronically managed valves enable drivers to choose from four distinct exhaust settings: Quiet, Normal, Sport, and Baja.
The Quiet mode is intended for individuals seeking a more muted driving experience. Whether igniting the engine in a residential area or traveling in zones with stringent noise laws, this setting guarantees reduced sound emissions. The Normal mode offers a balanced approach and delivers a moderate exhaust sound ideal for everyday driving. Sport mode, conversely, enriches the car's auditory experience, providing a richer, more defined sound that heightens the thrill during energetic drives. The Baja mode reveals the most intense sound profile, producing a deep and robust exhaust note designed for off-road excursions.
Though this stock system provides significant flexibility, certain enthusiasts feel enhancements could be made. Exhaust systems in factories are created to comply with regulatory standards, emissions regulations, and noise limitations, which implies they might not consistently focus on achieving peak performance or the loudest exhaust sound achievable. This is where upgrades from the aftermarket become relevant.
Why Consider an Exhaust Upgrade?
Enhancing the exhaust system of the Ford Ranger Raptor can provide various advantages, including better performance, a superior sound profile, and greater durability. Although the stock system is expertly designed, aftermarket exhausts offer extra customization choices that can enhance the driving experience even more.
A major reason for upgrading is to improve performance. A properly crafted aftermarket exhaust system can enhance the flow of exhaust gases, decreasing back pressure and enabling the engine to operate more efficiently. This may result in slight gains in horsepower and torque, making the Raptor seem more dynamic and robust. Though the factory system is optimized for efficiency, some aftermarket exhausts might offer a marginal advantage, especially when combined with additional performance upgrades like ECU tuning or a high-flow air intake system.
Sound is another important element in the choice to upgrade. Numerous Raptor owners desire a more assertive, dynamic exhaust sound that aligns with the vehicle's tough and strong persona. Although the stock system's Baja mode delivers a strong sound, certain aftermarket exhausts take it up a notch by offering a richer, throatier growl or a more polished tone that improves the driving experience. Various exhaust configurations, like straight-pipe or cat-back setups, can change the sound characteristics to match personal tastes.
Longevity is another important factor to consider when enhancing an exhaust system. Factory exhaust systems are frequently constructed from standard materials that can be susceptible to rust and corrosion as time passes, especially in severe driving environments. Numerous premium aftermarket exhaust systems are made from stainless steel or titanium, providing enhanced rust resistance, longer lifespan, and the capacity to endure high temperatures. This makes them especially advantageous for off-road fans who often navigate through water, mud, and rocky ground.
Potential Downsides of an Exhaust Upgrade
Although upgrading the Ranger Raptor’s exhaust system has numerous benefits, it's crucial to also weigh possible drawbacks. A primary concern is adherence to noise and emission standards. Various areas impose specific legal restrictions on exhaust noise, and fitting a system that surpasses these limits may result in fines or even compulsory removal. Moreover, some aftermarket exhaust systems might not meet emissions standards, potentially leading to problems during vehicle inspections.
Another element to take into account is the effect on warranty protection. Altering the exhaust system might risk nullifying some parts of the manufacturer’s warranty, particularly if the modification leads to harm to other engine parts. Owners should consult with their dealer or vehicle manufacturer prior to making any modifications.
Expense is likewise a significant factor to consider. Aftermarket exhaust systems differ greatly in cost, influenced by the materials utilized, the design, and the manufacturer. Although there are some affordable choices, high-quality systems can represent a significant investment. Owners ought to thoughtfully consider the advantages of a new exhaust in relation to their budget and expectations to guarantee they are making a valuable investment.
Where to Find a Reliable Exhaust Upgrade
For individuals thinking about upgrading the exhaust on their Ford Ranger Raptor, selecting a reliable supplier is crucial. Factory Direct 4x4 Exhausts, an Australian company, focuses on high-performance exhaust systems for 4WD vehicles, featuring the Ranger series. Their exhaust systems are crafted to improve performance, longevity, and acoustics while guaranteeing adherence to regulations. Emphasizing superior craftsmanship and skilled engineering, Factory Direct 4x4 Exhausts offers dependable choices for individuals wanting to elevate their Ranger Raptor.
Final Verdict: Is an Upgrade Worth It?
Ultimately, the choice to enhance the Ford Ranger Raptor exhaust system relies on the owner’s objectives and tastes. The stock system is already thoughtfully designed, providing customizable sound modes and reliable performance. Nonetheless, for individuals wanting a bolder exhaust sound, better airflow, and increased durability, an aftermarket enhancement can be a valuable investment. By choosing the appropriate exhaust system, owners can tailor their Raptor’s driving experience, enhancing the thrill whether on the road or off. By selecting a premium product from a reliable source like Factory Direct 4x4 Exhausts, Raptor owners can guarantee that their vehicle not only appears and sounds enhanced but also preserves optimal performance for many years ahead.

2025 Toyota Tundra With Ultimate i-Force Max Hybrid Reviews

2025 Tundra takes a different approach to the full-size truck segment compared to its American competitors. The old V-8 engine is gone and replaced by a twin-turbo V-6 engine available in two power levels, including a hybrid version.
Toyota offers two different four-door cabins basically mid-size and large and all are wrapped in chiseled sheet metal. Rather than chasing the biggest towing and hauling ratings.
One of the online media sites of toyota car enthusiasts toyotasuvmodels.com model revealed that: 2025 Toyota Tundra seems content with more moderate numbers that should still satisfy most light truck buyers. The coil-spring rear suspension gives the Tundra a degree of modesty, and a host of off-road features and packages ensure good performance when you leave the road.
The Tundra's latest cabin is much better than before, especially in the luxurious upper trim levels, but it still doesn't meet Ram and Ford standards. Strong and smooth powertrain, bold styling, smoother coil spring suspension.
What's New for 2025?
Toyota has discontinued the TRD Sport package from the Tundra, the rear-wheel drive version of the TRD Off-Road. The slick Solar Octane paint finish will also no longer be available in 2025.
There is a new TRD Rally optics package and the SR5 has electrically adjustable front seats as standard.
An electric tailgate is now available on the SR5 and standard on all trim levels above, front massage seats are now available on Platinum and Capstone models, and the 1794 Edition gets a unique embossed tailgate.

Interior
While the current Tundra is much better than the previous generation in terms of material quality and design, it doesn't bring anything new or revolutionary to the full-size truck segment. The interior is rather monotonous and features some hard plastics here and there.
Moving up the equipment hierarchy, there are the usual upgrades in materials and equipment, culminating in semi-aniline leather seats from the top-end Capstone models, American walnut interior trim, acoustically laminated side windows, and a head-up display.
The dashboard has a bold yet purposeful design, and the wide center console has a gearshift bin and plenty of storage space. Analog gauges and a small driver information screen are standard, but the highest trim level has a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
The extended cab (also called Double Cab) is available with a 6.5- or 8.1-foot cargo bed, while the longer Crew Cab (also called CrewMax) is offered with a 5.5- or 6.5-foot cargo bed.
Opting for the shorter cab won't affect the comfort of the front row, but it will reduce rear seat legroom from 41.6 inches in the Double Cab to just 33.3 inches.
Engine
The Tundra offers three powertrains, all based on a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 engine. In the base SR model, the engine produces 348 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque; otherwise, the engine produces 389 horsepower and 479 pound-feet. The third option is a 473-horsepower hybrid.
All use a smooth-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission. The Tundra with all-wheel drive is a part-time drivetrain; there is no full-time system like on competing trucks.
Towing and Payload Capacity
The Tundra can tow a maximum of 12,000 pounds. While sufficient, that rating makes it the least capable truck in the half-ton class. The Ford F-150 leads with a 14,000-pound rating, followed by the Chevrolet Silverado's 13,300 and the Ram 1500's 12,750. The Toyota's max payload is 1940 pounds, far behind Ford's 3250-pound rating.

Safety
All Tundras are equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 driver assistance technology, which includes automatic high beams, lane departure warning with steering assist, and more.
Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Trailer Detection is standard on Limited models and above. For more information on the Tundra's crash test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites.
Key safety features include:
Standard forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking
Standard lane departure warning and lane keeping assist
Standard adaptive cruise control
Price
The price of the 2025 Toyota Tundra is expected to start around $42,000 and go up to $65,000 depending on the trim and options.
SR $42,000 (est)
SR5 $48,000 (est)
Limited $54,000 (est)
Platinum $64,000 (est)
1794 Edition $65,000 (est)

The sports prototype was presented for the first time at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1985. A model, the MID4, which was intended to show the world what Nissan could achieve with its own technologies. The first example (at least two of which were built) was a pearl white left-hand drive model, which can be seen in the opening photo, while the second car produced was red. It was a sports car that integrated the 3.0-liter V6 engine (VG30) from the Z31 - Fairlady Z/300ZX, mounted in a central position. A mechanic that had four camshafts, 24 valves and a power of 230 CV at 6000 rpm. The car had an all-wheel drive system that distributed 33% of the power transmitted to the front axle and 67% to the rear axle, to achieve good balance and remarkable behavior at high speed. This system was the first development of what would later become the well-known ATESSA, Nissan's all-wheel drive system, later adopted for production models such as the Skyline, Bluebird, Cefiro and several others. The first MID4 also featured the first evolution of the HICAS four-wheel-steer, designed to provide better control, taking into account lateral acceleration and cornering speed. This system, after being revised, was adopted in the Z series and in Nissan's mid-range and high-end coupe and sedan models. Lastly, the car featured four disc brakes with ABS and the bodywork was designed to be aerodynamically efficient. The influence of the MID-4 styling was also felt in the facelift of the 300ZX (Z31) in October 1985. The second right-hand drive MID4 (red) was shown at the Tokyo Motor Show in that same month
