Finished playing chap 6 today and it's made me realise how much I value my privacy like,, I was planning on being all hesitant with Salyra but then I walk into my room and find out she's been rifling through my stuff (why didn't she hide the evidence) and it's just.... how dare you?? We literally just met for the first time in 20 years and that's your go-to choice for 'getting to know the woman I've become'??? + this is after she said "Danzor and Rana need me" and then left me for the rest of the night like, lady, please, you are making a v poor case for getting to know MC here 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ (might I suggest a nice conversation first?)

also, not sure Salyra knows fully how much she's pushing onto MC literally hours after reuniting with them by asking them to have a relationship with Rana a.k.a. primary reminder that Salyra made a whole new family (iirc) around the same time MC was almost killed in an alleyway by some prejudiced brat (decided to not have a relationship with Danzor and Rana bcs I don't want that kind of reminder)

In other news, I don't blame Salyra for the visions bcs Erlan seems petty as hell anyway but kinda interesting that the war had played out regardless of what Salyra had envisioned and subsequently tried to prevent 🤔 I can't remember the exact quote but it reminds me of how someone said something like "the roads you take to prevent your destiny will only lead you to it" like a self-fulfilling prophecy type

Salyra is very pushy 😅 As for not hiding the evidence, let's just say that she may have heard the MC approaching their room and quickly dashed out.

Salyra having Rana was really a spur of the moment thing. She never planned to have Rana the way she planned to have the MC, so circumstances surrounding Rana's birth was very different 😅 Remember, Ahlf did communicate with Salyra and we've yet to know what exactly he wrote to her 👀

All the proverbs in the game relate to fate in one way or the other - it's really up to players to decide if fate does play a role in things or not 😅

notes: i'm Thinking a lot about baji these days (read: i cannot stop thinking about him). slightly canon-divergent.

[2:41 AM] your eyes snap open as the images in your head played. cold, cold, so so cold you can almost still feel the ghostly touch of death on your fingertips. you turn to your side as you hear baji's soft breaths as he lays beside you. with each breath he takes, it calms your erratic heart.

in the dark, you can barely make out his features, but you've long memorized the contours of his face and the free fall of his hair. just to make sure, you think to yourself, your fingers make their way to his face, hand resting on his cheek and thumb gently brushing over his newly patched-up bruise.

he's warm. he's breathing. he's alive.

his face twitches before your movement halts, and you think for a moment you woke him. he mumbles some incoherent words under his breath before he drapes an arm around you, and the rhythmic sound of his breathing returns.

as you press yourself onto his body, palms over his chest to feel the rise and fall of his body, to feel the beat of his heart, your lips begin to quiver. the nightmare comes back to haunt you as you close your eyes. in another world, in another reality, you've felt yourself pressing your palms against the very same body. but he's unmoving there, cold, rigid, dead. it feels so real, so so real that it scares you that could be your reality now.

you feel the shift in his body as your tears fall, arms wrapped around yours as he nuzzles into your hair.

"what's wrong?" he asks, voice groggy, as he gently rakes his fingers through your hair.

"mm, bad dream," you tell him as you snuggle impossibly close to him, breathing in his scent that you associate with home.

"wanna talk about it?" he presses a soft kiss on your forehead.

for someone so chaotic and rough around the edges, he's unbelievably soft with you.

"no," you tell him as you respond with a soft kiss on his jaw. the heartbreak in your nightmare feels too real, but his warmth, his touch grounds you. "you're here."

you can almost see his brows furrow in confusion, but he just nods and reassures you. "i'm here," he repeats softly as he leans further into you.

the small space in between disappears alongside your nightmare as your bodies press together. the sound of your heartbeats syncs in unison and love blankets the room under tender gazes and comforting touches in the dark.

he presses another soft kiss on your forehead as he falls back asleep. you stay awake just a little bit longer, still staring at him, ears keen on the sound of his breathing and body sensitive to the warmth of his body and the rise and fall of his chest.

"thank you for being alive," you mutter inaudibly as his presence lulls you back to sleep.

analyzing tw personality types #2: mason hewitt - ENFJ 7w6 so/sx

wanted to do mason next bc he’s cool and one of my favourite ENFJs in existence

also if you dont know what these numbers and letters mean: ENFJ is mbti, fe/ni whatever is mbti theory, 7w6 is enneagram, and so/sx is the enneagram subtypes. this post assumes you know more abt it so this is more intended for tw fans experienced with personality theories/personality theory tumblrs that happen to know about tw. cool? cool.

(also i’m doing this super late at night so if it’s disorganized or confusing thats why)

dominant fe

ok i think out of every mbti function, fe is always the most obvious in people, because it deals with other people/ethics outwardly. but even then mason is very obvious about his fe.

fe is concerned with social harmony and group values, and so is mason. he spends a lot of time and goes out of his way to help the other characters study, most notably liam and corey, and is super eager to figure stuff out immediately after finding out about werewolves. he seems to really like making everyone else happy and being involved in things.

basically he’s generally pretty attuned to how other people are feeling which pointed me in the dominant fe direction.

auxiliary ni

aha moments are pretty common with ni users. they often unconsciously process information, and it takes sensory things to activate their ideas, which is where the se comes in.

a huge example of mason’s ni was when he was watching the lacrosse game in 6x4, and seeing two lacrosse players in midair reminded him of the beast v hellhound mural, which reminded him of parrish, which reminded him of how parrish got the ghost rider at the party to leave. ni works in a very linear way, it just moves in a straight line until it comes to a singular conclusion.

it’s rare to see mason actively brainstorming, because ni is an unconscious function. he gets ideas a lot but they kinda just come to him, also illustrated by scott in 6x4 when he’s like “you always figure something out.” and mason does after sitting on the bleachers for a little while. the one time he does consciously try to connect dots, when he’s trying to figure out what 68 meant in 6x13, he struggles to get anywhere.

ni also comes to singular ideas. mason doesn’t usually try to deliberate between two different ones, when he has an idea he sticks to it unless new information pulls him in another direction.

so yuh

tertiary se

okay so usually when he doesn’t have time to plan in negative situations, he just rushes into them. se kinda works together with ni for ENxJs, but also as kind of a backup plan. se functions as a sort of you see what you get function, so using se in stressful situations means just going for it without thinking.

there are a lot of scenes where he goes after enemies that could easily kick his ass with just a baseball bat. he almost rams his car into a wall because he can’t think of a plan when the blueprint of eichen house doesn’t match up in 5x16. basically when his ni doesn’t give him ideas, mason just goes with his gut.

tertiary functions are also generally used with either overconfidence, or just a bit worse than say an aux/dom se user, so mason’s spur of the moment plans not exactly panning out would make a lot of sense.

inferior ti

contrary to mbti stereotypes, inferior ti doesn’t make a person stupid!! it just means a lack in purely logical sole judgement, and an insecurity surrounding that. mason is brilliant and one of the smartest characters in the show, but he’s also very emotionally attached.

“they must have had someone up there. that’s the only logical explanation.”

“how do you know?”

“logic. corey has a hunch.”

basically mason just immediately latches onto corey’s logic and doesn’t actually have his own logical explanation prepared for himself. and that’s fine, corey was right, but it’s just a very fe/inferior ti thing to say. ti doms, even if they outwardly agree, will want to come to their own concise conclusions in their heads.

when everyone at school is prepared to kick the shit out of liam and know damn well he’s a werewolf in 6x14, mason stays optimistic and tries to sugarcoat things for liam. the reality, the logical explanation is that things are very bad and not good, but mason still acts optimistic in favour of social harmony.

i also, despite it just being the writing not being great, like to think this is sort of the reason he might’ve ignored/not noticed holes in his memories. mason seems more than capable of realizing he was the beast, but may have not wanted to accept it. also could the show have elaborated on how mason felt about it more? it makes me extremely sad but i still want mason angst it would give him way more depth dude

there’s also the part where they need information on the chimera pack, but mason doesn’t ask corey about it since “theo leading an evil chimera pack didn’t exactly come up in the conversation.” enough said.

7w6

literally only a 7 would be in actual mortal danger from a wolf, and instead of freaking about almost dying, immediately get hyped because he found out his friend was a werewolf.

7s are intensely and infectiously positive. they see everything with wonder and excitement, and just try to get as much fun as they can out of life. this can lead to ignorance of negatives, which mason definitely does, but we still love him for it anyways.

i think a huge 7 example was the after images episode where mason can’t stop seeing the faceless corpse everywhere. instead of telling liam, hey, i want to stay over because i’m having nightmare hallucinations, he pretends he’s completely fine and just wants a sleepover. and he does a hell of a good job of it at first.

7s, especially the countertype social 7s, which mason literally is, tend to ignore any negativity in front of their friends. mason wanted everything to seem fine with liam despite everything being very not fine in the slightest.

this is the attitude he maintains throughout the show too. of course he doesn’t blindly ignore negatives, the 6 wing will do that, but he definitely works around them. he’s always upbeat and i kinda see him as the positivity that holds liam’s pack together.

so/sx

sp: This energised Seven is a great networker, gathering a ‘family’ of close supporters and motivated by wanting the best for everyone. They love the good things in life and may risk becoming self-interested and pleasure-seeking. This subtype is generally good at getting what they need to have fun and feel safe, but may also be good at rationalising and defending whatever they want to do.

sx: The dreamer, the idealist, the romantic … the SX Seven sees reality through a rose-coloured filter, connected to the possibility in everything. Their enthusiasm and optimism may seem unrealistic or naive as they tend to believe in the good in everything and everyone. so: This countertype acts against the gluttony that characterises the Seven, tending to mistype with Enneagram 2. They are generous and have a strong desire to be of service, to create a better world. They will sacrifice their own needs to serve the needs of a group or person they support. They can be judgemental regarding selfishness in themselves or others and they hope to be appreciated for their sacrifice.

so if you search up your run of the mill 7 description, the negatives may not sound like mason, as 7s tend to be kinda irresponsible and reckless, and i think that’s because mason’s a so seven, which is literally the countertype & goes against the typical 7 behaviour.

it was a close call between sp and sx, for second, but i feel like i’m leaning towards sx more because of how excited he got about the supernatural at first.

conclusion

idk what to say even but i should probably go to bed now. also mason is very cool. also also did you notice that corey is an ISTP so he literally has the same functions but in reverse order??? opposites attract

in all honesty, it's been a pretty shit year. march 'til now has felt like the same month on repeat with tiny tweaks to make it all so much worse. but i'm not here to complain about the worst parts of this year, i'm here to celebrate the best ones.

this was the year that i finally started writing, that i was finally spurred to open a google doc and just type away until a tiny work of fiction stared back at me. my first one was 1k words, a rant to get all of my emotions off of my chest with an idol as my muse. it felt...great, though it also felt a bit odd writing after being an avid reader for years. i always did prefer essays to creative writing, but this year definitely changed that perspective.

i wrote that first blurb along with another fic in late july, and in early august, i asked my friends if i should post them. om august 3rd, i changed this blog from a fic rec to a fic writing blog just like that. i regret none of it.

it's been nearly five months since i revamped this blog and i couldn't be more grateful for the support i have gotten from all of you, whether it be a kind comment, a like, a reblog, all of it. i never thought anyone would like my content, but i've been proven severely wrong by this community. from my irls that are on here, to my lovely mutuals and followers, to those i've talked to a lil bit on this hellsite, to the writers whose fics i absolutely adore, to those who have left a like or a comment on one of my fics, i want to say thank you from the very bottom of my heart ♡

everyone's saying what type of assistant they'd be but I'm curious what you think the best type of assistant for Unknown would be like? not strictly what he wants, but maybe what he needs? how do you think it's best to act towards him, etc.

in Suit Saeran's part of his route, he wants you cowering in fear beneath him and I feel like Unknown would want that too, BUT- you aren't supposed to cower under Suit bc it ends badly for you, so I wonder if this would be the same for Unknown and you have to stand your ground...or the opposite maybe? as in, he does more and more to torment you until he breaks you and makes you cower.

Sorry, I kinda babbled but I have so many thoughts on this! Unknown is a character I am SO intrigued by and identify with heavily, so I love to hear others' takes on it!

I think if you’re asking me who I think is going to be ideal for this situation then I gotta tell you that I’ve got a lot of thoughts on the matter if we’re going to handle this in a realistic fashion, which I always tend to lean that way as much as I can because I strive for a viable scenario.

That being said, you’re right about our boy Suit Saeran. You can't submit to him. You can't lash out at him and you can't prove what Rika said as fact. You can't show him anger and that's why kindness and not responding to him are what help you. You have to respond to him as you do with Ray, never letting your guard drop by sharing empathy. Never give up on him but never bow your head and you'll get BE2. Suit Saeran is less like Unknown, and a lot more like Ray.

They need a level of reassurance. All of them. It isn't always easy to do that because each of them have an intensity that cannot be contained in the word limit of one post because I don't know when I would shut up and you asked about Unknown specifically, and I will keep this about him.

When it comes to Unknown, I feel like you need to have a balance of confidence and kindness in your heart. You don't submit to him, but you give him understanding. Listen to him. He was left by everyone that he ever trusted and he's been just gaslit over and over by Rika, as well as subjected to cult manipulation for nearly two years. You do not say the word cult. If you want to know how to help someone in a cult, there's a very specific way that you HAVE to talk to people who have been indoctrinated into cults. You can't just tell him Mint Eye is hell. He is literally the most and dedicated member of the cult because of what Rika did to him. You will not tell him that he has to leave with you. He will not listen.

You may cause him to never trust you again if you push him too hard. You can't tell him that if you really want to help him. You have to slowly talk to him over time when it comes to that and it will take some serious talking to even get close to considering thinking about it, much less being willing to talk about it with you. He took you on the spur of the moment. He literally decided what he wanted to do with you in the heat of the moment. He can't let you go, he decides to take you because he wants to be better than Seven and to be better then Seven, he needs more than what he has.

A maid? No.

He wants an assistant.

If you think about what Unknown wants, what he wants is somebody that will listen to him without question and do as he asks. He wants you to fall when he says fall and to jump before he even can say jump. He wants you to know what is in his head before he even thinks it. He wants you to look at him like he is the strongest because he is the strongest. He wants you to look at him as if he is your boss that gives you everything. You weren't good enough to trick the RFA, but you're broken like he is and he will take good care of you if you listen. Give him whatever he wants and he will take good care of you... he promises... haha... hahaha....!

An assistant that does without a moment of hesitation. What he wants is for you to listen to him. Always. Never question him. That's what he wants. That's not what he needs. That's not at all going to help him in any way and it's not going to help his assistant.

What he needs is someone who can handle it when he yells and screams. You don't have to be someone who can handle screaming or yelling without flinching or crying. You need to be very empathetic to what he's feeling. You have to be the kind of person that tries to look underneath the underneath. You can be fragile, but you can't break. You can be the broken teapot stitched back together if you've already known what it feels like to be hurt and abused. But, you can't break down on him. You have to be there for him when it's the dead of night. You know what he needs?

He chugs the elixir in the dead of night because his headache won't go away. He overheats and he cannot handle working because his fingers aren't responding. You get him some water and sit by him until it passes. He has nightmares and wakes up screaming, you're there, you stare at him and he stares at you. Neither of you say a damn word. But, it's understood that he is not alone and you are not alone. He never knew that he needed to know that he wasn't alone. He's always been alone and he's never once woken up with someone there. Stand your ground with him and insist that he look a bit harder because he's smart. He's smarter then all of them. Why is Rika lying? You have to attentive and kind. So, when it comes to the person I think that could handle this, I need an MC who is kind and understanding, but is brave enough to call someone on their shit.

He is a vulnerable man whether he wants to admit it or not. Stand up to him but do not get angry. Stay kind. Stay steadfast. It's a similar theory to the Another Story MC, but you have to be willing to look a monster in the eyes and see the broken boy inside of him.

What he needs is someone who waits and listens to everything.

So we know that Light realised his feelings for the reader at the party (If I remember correctly) but did Light ever know that the reader was in love with him? He always knew what was happening with her so was there a moment where he thought "She's in love with me" or he wasn't sure at all? so the way i would see it light is not really the person to be like “oh, they’re in love with me,” as a spark of realization type of thing. to a degree, light always knew the reader was dependent on him bc who else can she lament to about the whole thing without him just offing her? It’s canon light knows that he’s quite suave with the ladies, so to him, I would guess he imagined it would only be a matter of time before it spurred into “love,” esp when kinda started getting off over the power and control he has. so, to him, it’s no big surprise, but it’s a delight to hear it. so, we can jot down that there really isn;’t any one point he realized. it was just a gradual process of his suspicions being confirmed.

Sailor Mars Birthday Tribute

I am so late on posting this but I just did not have time to edit. For Mars I wanted to talk about her 90s anime version and her much better manga version.

Let me start by laying my bias wide open. I never liked Sailor Mars. As a kid I thought she was unnecessarily mean. She was and still is my least favorite, besides ChibiMoon. She’s beautiful, and her powers and attacks are awesome. As for how she fits into the overall scheme of things, I have major issues with how the anime portrayed her compared to how Naoko intentioned her. Frankly, I can’t help but view 90s anime Rei as an imposter and I’ll explain why...

Ok, first let’s talk about 90’s anime-Rei. We know she’s very hard working, goes to an elite girls’s Catholic school and wants to be an independent career woman when she grows up. Yet, for some reason (*cough*patriarchy) she sees Mamoru in season one and thinks he’s perfect so she’s gotta have him. She embarrasses herself going all boy crazy over him (he literally steps on her head and just walks away) and he seems like a typical clueless dude who doesn’t realize she *likes* him. I relate hardcore to Mamoru here. She’s so thirsty and he is so not. Then fast forward to after Endymion gets taken and Rei slaps Usagi calling her a coward. It’s meant to be some great emotional scene that some fans latch on to. Yet, it’s not Rei’s slap that motivates Usagi. It just hurts her. Go watch it again (epi35); it’s the voice of Mask from her memory, gently and patiently encouraging her, as always, that she is strong and can fight that spurs Moon into action. We’ve seen over and over that Usagi responds to patient encouragement over violence, just like when she does when she faces the baddest villains. Yet, the 90s anime always has Rei cutting her down. As far as I’m concerned, it’s just the patriarchy at work, trying to convince young girls that the boy or girl who’s mean to you really does care about you. It’s toxic and just plain stupid.

Now, am I saying 90s anime Rei doesn’t really care about Usagi? No. Not at all. She’s her Senshi and they share the same heart and the same dream to protect those they love together. Of course she loves Usagi. My issue is how the 90s anime portrays that dynamic. It’s spreading toxicity within female friendships and trying to sell it as genuine. I also understand that Mars’s fiery personality is what a lot of her fans love about her. I’m not saying that’s bad either, even if it’s an inaccurate representation of the character Naoko created. Apparently, it was Ikuhara that wanted the anime to change her cold and aloof personality to “fiery”. To perpetuate the patriarchal tropes I’ve mentioned, the anime tried to paint her as Usagi’s bff of the group, usurping Minako’s place. In the manga, Minako is the Leader of the Senshi and the one closest to Usagi in personality and in her role as the Leader of Serenity’s guards. Yet the anime is constantly trying to make Mars the one that is extra special to Usagi. Case in point, at the end of Stars the first voice we hear address Eternal Moon after she defeats Galaxia is Rei but in the manga, Usagi is drawn hugging Minako first. These little moments bother me, probably a little too much.

Then there’s the love triangle they tried to created with her and Mamoru. Fucking kill me. The love triangle garbage is just typical, patriarchal tropism within the storyline that has no place in the SM story in regards to Mars. Let’s make two friends like the same dude bc that’s drama that people have been conditioned to enjoy. It’s lame as far as I’m concerned. Let’s take a moment to remember the random, stupid and pointless scene in the curry episode where ChibiUsa and Mamoru run into Rei and after a moment of awkwardness they decide to go find Usagi together. Tell me that’s not the patriarchy trying to validate one woman’s place by using another woman as comparison instead of letting her stand on her own. 😒 And they’re trying to backtrack on the whole Rei liking Mamoru episode. This isn’t Rei’s fault obviously, I’m just using this scene to explicate why I don’t like the dynamic the anime created, and why that makes Mars a difficult one for me to get excited about.

There’s no way you can convince me that Mars’s bitchiness wasn’t a direct result of a “male perspective” (as Naoko called it). The idea that female bffs bully each other and cat fight all the time is ludicrous. As a 32yo woman (and lifelong Moonie) with a tight circle of girlfriends, there isn’t a single one of us who would tolerate such toxicity from the other, even at 14yo. It just isn’t realistic, unless it’s a bad relationship. I’ll give the anime credit for getting one thing right - her bravery. In both the manga and the anime, Mars is fearless. She charges into battle and gives it her all. She doesn’t let any doubt get in her way. She does not hesitate or dwell on self-doubt. And that alone is reason enough to love her.

Now, let’s discuss Manga-Rei. Because Adult-Moonie-Me LOVES manga-Mars. She actually appears in Codename Sailor V outside the arcade. She says the atmosphere is “disquieting” and leaves. In the manga, she’s very quiet and reserved. There is no bickering or cat fighting between her and Usagi. She’s also probably the most objectively beautiful of the Inners. She’s suppose to be “slender”, with long black hair and brown eyes which are sometimes seen as purple. When Usagi first sees her on the bus, she thinks she’s soooo beautiful. And another time, when they’re at the beach/pool, guys keep buying Rei drinks but she’s not flirting or giving them any attention, bc she is not boy crazy. Sis is enjoying those drinks tho.

Her awakening in the manga is very similar to the anime with the exception that’s she sees a premonition of Usagi and Jadeite that makes her go find the bus. Like the other Senshi, she is drawn to Usagi.

In her manga profile, her dislikes are television, modern society (the anime has her immersed in pop culture, going so far as to make her write her own songs and dance at the school festival), canned asparagus and men. It’s implied that she doesn’t like men or care for them bc of her father. He never had time for her and she doesn’t have a good relationship with him. Plus in a short story, she has a guy she likes but he chooses to follow her father’s footsteps into politics. So she kisses him and is like, boy, bye. ✌🏽 She considers men emotionally weak, untrustworthy and is generally disinterested in them, even if they’re buying her drinks and fawning over her. Same, Sis.

She is described as beautiful and “reserved”, but “scary” when she’s angry. She so beautiful that when Mamoru’s underclassman, Asanuma, sees her, he thinks she would be the perfect girlfriend for Mamoru (who Asanuma thinks is perfect) and that she should be Mamoru’s ideal type. He’s really surprised that Usagi is so *ordinary*.

Rei has strong precognition and has an affinity to fire. Ironically, there is nothing in Shintoism about fire reading, so that must just be a shoutout to the Greek influence on the manga. I love her psychic abilities in both the anime and the manga. Random fun fact: Naoko worked at a Shinto temple for a while before or maybe during college.

Mars is one of the only Senshi, like Michiru, who can use an item as an attack in her civilian and Senshi form. Her “ofuda” (Shinto talismans) are powerful enough to disperse evil and make regular people faint (remember anime epi w/Unazuki’s mouth getting sealed and in the manga/crystal she accidentally “purifies” Usagi, causing her to faint). Mikos (shrine maidens) are known to use archery attacks, so civilian Rei was already proficient in archery before awakening as Mars. Also, just like Jupiter’s earrings stay on her when she transforms, Mars is always wearing a pendant and when she transforms, it attaches at the waist to her fuku.

Mars also, uniquely, has her own guardians: the Crows, Phobos and Deimos. In the anime, the crows never take human form as they do in the manga. In the Dead Moon arc, Jupiter and Mercury power up by speaking with their inner consciousness. But Mars powers up by speaking with the human forms of her crows. This is a great moment in the manga bc Phobos and Deimos basically tell Rei that’s it’s ok to not want or desire men and marriage. She is the asexual goddess everyone overlooks and I love this aspect to her personality. The Crows are the ones to give her the Mars Crystal which is her starseed. We also find out here that Mars pledged a vow of Chastity to Serenity in the SilMill. They don’t explain the reasons behind the vow, but considering Rei’s spirituality and serious conservatism, it’s understandable. Also, while Phobos and Deimos are named after the moons on Mars, in the Stars Arc it’s revealed that they’re from the Coronis and were acquainted with Sailor Lead Crow.

For the most part, Rei in the manga seems more boring than Rei in the 90s anime, but personally, I don’t think so. Reading the manga in middle school and seeing a female not *give*a*fuck* about marriage was awesome to me. She’s also kinder and she has far more respect for Usagi. She’s extremely popular at her school and has her own fan club. She carries herself with a certain dignity that reminds me of Michiru. She’s second in command after Venus. And let me end this by saying that Crystal gave Rei justice, and for that I am happy.

your first kiss with kun would most likely be a spur of the moment type of thing

but also something that’s long overdue

i see kun as someone who would fall in love with a close friend, or become close friends with his crush bc he isn’t sure about an actual relationship yet

kun is careful and calculated

he adores you from the bottom of his heart and he’s wanted to kiss you for months now but he’s too chicken

stares at your lips all the time it’s actually embarrassing

I think Marco Reus’s injury in that Armenia game just before WC14! I was so devastated and it got me very emotional about how much he would’ve prepared himself for the world cup, only to miss it right at the end! And he could’ve had his hands on the trophy but yeah life’s unpredictable :/

doesn’t tend to lie because he’s more the “cruel honesty” type, but is a very good liar when he does - not as good as jeremiah because lying was always jeremiah’s forte, but jerome can easily put on an act or think up a story on the spot with enough detail to make it convincing 

can easily go days without sleeping, and when he does fall asleep it’s only in his actual bed like 40% of the time

throws all of his red clothes in with jeremiah’s white clothes for washing constantly

swears so often. can easily say “fucking” twice in one sentence and throws one use of “shit” in there for good measure

no short sleeves outside ever. in private maybe, but not for long

lowkey hates being touched from behind e.g. pats on the back, a hand on his shoulder, etc, especially unexpectedly (and just hates the feeling of being snuck up on in general). he’ll stiffen like hell and the only people who can get away with it without him reflexively whacking their hands off of him are jeremiah and bruce, but they tend not to do it anyway because they can tell he doesn’t like it

absolutely had a super embarrassing doodle of a heart in his diary with “j + b” inside it, along with some v crude scribbles of things like him and bruce holding hands and them stabbing someone

Scary Kinks tbh. knives, pain (both others’ and his), blood, whatever, he has very little sense of limits. he is honestly not above even sticking a gun in your mouth if that’s what he’s feelin’. he’s only done that with bruce once, during the rebellious phase and the early days of the physical stuff, when he was still pushing limits and seeing how far bruce was really willing to go here and there weren’t a ton of Romo Feelings involved; he’d straddled bruce on a chair and he put the barrel of a pistol to bruce’s mouth, expecting nervousness or panic or some kind of reaction along those lines - but bruce just maintained steady eye contact and opened his mouth slightly, with no fear and watching him right back, which basically resulted in jerome thinking oh and yep, brucie’s something alright, grinning and throwing the gun off to the side to be ignored while they got on with Things. he wouldn’t do that with bruce anymore though - as dangerous as their lives generally are and as much as he loves that, he’s far less willing to go carelessly pointing loaded guns at bruce himself these days

does not like being tied up during NSFW Activities because he hates feeling confined/trapped and not being able to move his arms and not feeling in control because it’s too vulnerable, but bruce being tied up is Another Matter Entirely

lowkey praise kink. will either tell you to shut up or find Ways to distract you from talking if you actually try it, but is secretly kinda into it because he requires positive feedback in Most Things

master of the ironic “UWU” and “OWO” emojis and everyone else hates it

him and jervis are the only people jonathan actually responds to on the phone (other people can call him but he’ll just silently listen to what you have to say and then hang up, so it’s in the air whether he even heard you or not) and he finds it disproportionately funny that jonathan once answered the phone with “whomst.” instead of “hello”

he never self-harmed in the sense of cutting, but he also doesn’t have the same reservations about causing himself pain that others do, so he’s done things like put out cigarettes on his wrists/hands, test the sharpness of knives on himself, etc. and physical pain can be something of a release for him

generally fearless, but he was genuinely scared of his mother, uncle and the men his mother had over - killing lila and zach helped with a lot of this and made him feel like he’d won. he still gets a little on edge when someone reminds him of them in speech/appearance/personality, but he’s more likely to use it as an opportunity to prove to himself that he has power over the memory of lila/zach and that they can’t hurt him anymore by getting one over on the person in question too

in the very early stages of the abuse, he coped with it by believing that his mother loved him no matter what and clung to the hope that it would all stop one day and she’d sober up and love him properly. it sinking in that she didn’t love him at all and that it was never going to change was one of the things that ended up contributing to his eventual psychotic break

what is a stable self-esteem? jerome doesn’t know. can go from calling himself garbage to calling himself a god in .0002 seconds

tried to strangle an arkham therapist once because she brought up his childhood abuse and kept pushing him to talk about it and he just lost it. after that, all attempts at therapy for him were dropped

has an uncomfortable amount of knowledge about how to set broken bones and put in dislocated joints because there were times in the circus when things got really really bad and he should have gotten hospital treatment, but obviously nobody would have taken him, so he had to learn to do even the serious shit himself. early on, he came dangerously close to seriously fucking himself up and making his injuries worse more than once thanks to his amateur first attempts at fixing them

people in the circus were kinda-sorta aware of what went on with his mother, but basically just didn’t care; it wasn’t their business

touch-starved. one of the reasons he reacts so strongly the times when bruce is super gentle with him is because literally no one has ever just touched him softly before (and generally he isn’t used to being touched at all without pain immediately following) so at first it’s almost too much

generally isn’t affected by his facial scars and isn’t self-conscious about them at all, but is very used to other people finding them scary/unpleasant so was genuinely thrown off-balance the first time bruce traced them and called him beautiful

surprisingly, he can actually cook - he had to make his own food a lot in the circus when he was younger, it was either that or scrounge from the circus food stalls, bc lila sure as hell wasn’t making him meals - he just chooses not to anymore because, frankly, he can’t be bothered 

he and bruce don’t really ever say “i love you” in so many words. they know what they have going on, so why would they need to verbalise it all the time when they already know it’s there? jerome’s really not into that kind of thing anyway, and honestly bruce isn’t the most emotionally open person either. bruce was the first of them to acknowledge and accept how he felt, and never denied it when asked by someone else, but he knows jerome and his background and thus never said it first in order to avoid pushing him into territory that may be uncomfortable for him. but the first time either of them said the words to the other, it came, surprisingly, from jerome, spur-of-the-moment - one of the nights he spends in the city with bruce alone, doing the dark shit they do. at one point, bruce slit a man’s throat in a particularly vicious way; jerome was at his shoulder, watching how he did it, and it came out without him really meaning it to: “god, i fucking love you.” bruce might not need to hear it, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t feel good when he does - he made sure jerome had no chance of trying to play it off as a joke by turning around and promptly distracting him with a kiss. ...blood-covered and all.

has some experience with sleeping rough because sometimes lila would just kick him out because she didn’t want to see him that night, so he had to crash with someone else in the circus if they took pity on him or find somewhere else on the grounds/surrounding streets. he’d venture back a couple of days later when he knew she was out, and she’d come back and see he was there - she wouldn’t say anything and would basically just blank him, and that was the cue that he was safe to say

used to cry a lot and got called a crybaby by other kids in the circus when he was very young. over time, he taught himself to laugh whenever he felt like crying, and it got to the point where it was just an ingrained thing, so instead of breaking down and crying, he would get half-involuntary laughing fits instead. he got into a mindset of “everything is hilarious if you just think about it for long enough” as another coping method, because why should he be sad when everything in the world and everything that is happening to him is so damn funny? 

doesn’t happen often, but very occasionally he sleep-talks and says some weird shit and bruce is just like “……..Alright.” he never remembers this in the morning

sleeping position varies depending on the time period. he’s either curled up on the very edge of the bed and taking up as little space as possible without falling off, or he’s sprawled out over the entire thing, and there’s no in-between. the ‘taking up no space’ thing is left over from childhood, but bruce notices this and the longer he’s with bruce and the more comfortable he gets with him (and the more it sinks in that, no, there will not be Consequences if he just lets himself relax - because he does a great job most of the time of not showing any vulnerability over his childhood, but when it comes to night-time and sleeping with someone else there, old habits and fears kick in a little at first), the more he just becomes The Most Fidgety Sleeper Ever. bruce gets smacked awake by his arm in his face a few times, but he has figured out a Solution - if he intertwines his fingers with jerome’s or shifts jerome’s arm down to his waist or something, jerome will just latch onto him in his sleep because warmth. no mentions of this in the morning allowed though, and he was definitely not cuddling, never call it that, he can’t control what he does when he’s asleep, BRUCE  

still has nightmares sometimes - nights are when he’s at his most vulnerable basically, so bruce knows damn well that jerome letting him see that side of him is a gesture of trust

is lowkey intimidated by ecco because that girl picked his ass up when he was unconscious and dead weight, so she could absolutely pick him up while he’s fully awake, and that’s just too much strength for such a tiny woman. he will never admit this. tries to scare her instead because he has a reputation to uphold and is eternally annoyed about the fact that she doesn’t seem at all affected (but he’s convinced that she’s just hiding her fear really well)

high school au

climbs through bruce’s window a lot unnecessarily because he doesn’t want alfred to open the door. alfred usually finds out he’s there anyway, so he would be perfectly fine just going to bruce’s house the normal way, but he likes to pretend that he’s being sneaky and thus cool 

watches a lot of stand-up comedy but is also the world’s worst critic and constantly makes comments about how he “could have made that joke better” or “there was a better way to word that”, which is what originally kickstarts the idea of going into comedy himself

watched twilight “ironically”. team edward if he had to choose, but thinks both edward and jacob are idiots and will get into an argument about this. will also legitimately debate about vampires vs werewolves. thinks that there should have been a big bloody fight at the end where everyone died, because if there is no violence/gore it’s a shit movie, this is a non-negotiable rule of his

has a fondness for gross/creepy creatures. he’s not at all scared of spiders and will kidnap the bigger ones in glasses and attempt to keep them until jeremiah (and later bruce) makes him put it outside. he’ll straight-up pick up a spider and let it run across his hands while other people scream about it

before bruce and elijah come along and before things start to change, he’s essentially living for jeremiah. if it weren’t for the fact that he has to look out for jeremiah and would never leave him in that environment alone and the fact that they promised each other they would always be there for each other no matter what, jerome’s lack of self-preservation would be a lot worse than it is bc without that to keep him tied to something he just wouldn’t care

when they were very little, the twins had a habit of sneaking into each other’s beds to sleep at night, usually after it had been a bad day with their mother and something had happened. they grew out of it when they got a little older, especially jerome once he stopped being so open with vulnerability/affection, but it was still a comfort that they slept near each other thanks to their caravan being too small for anything else so they knew the other was close-by. once jerome developed a habit of sneaking out at nights, this was also how jeremiah would often hear him leaving or would wake up and immediately notice he was gone

no one will play mario kart with him anymore because he gets ridiculously competitive and ruthless and he has no honour. he will shove you off of your seat so he can overtake you while you’re still getting up.

the only people who can tell him and jeremiah apart by voice alone are bruce and elijah. if anyone else calls their apartment, it’s just impossible to immediately work out who’s answered the phone at first unless they throw in a really obvious mannerism. if the person who picked up the phone is speaking with their mouth full and answered with “yo wassup”, it’s probably jerome. that or jeremiah’s finally broken.

speaking of phone calls, jerome is a nightmare when jeremiah is expecting a work call. if jerome gets to the phone first, it’s just: “is - is this mr. valeska?” “…you’re gonna have to be more specific, pal.” “…the j. valeska that i was supposed to call–?” “nope, pause, do better than that.” then the caller has to wait on the line while they hear “[muffled voice in the distance] JEROME, IS THAT THE CALL I SAID WAS IMPORTANT” “i dunno, maybe. i wasn’t really listening” “i SPECIFICALLY TOLD YOU NOT TO ANSWER THE PHONE IF IT RANG WHILE I WAS SHOWERING” and then vague sounds of clattering and voices before they get a flustered jeremiah on the line like “i am so sorry”

jerome is by far the messier twin, so his room is always a heap of dirty clothes and food packets and empty bottles/cans, but jeremiah can get really fixated on his work so his computer desk and his work-spaces are just full of papers and documents and empty coffee mugs. whenever he gets on at jerome about cleaning up after himself, jerome’s like [WILL SMITH POSE @ JEREMIAH’S DESK] WHAT ARE THOOOOOOSE

jerome and elijah have been to the hospital so many times because of the stupid shit they do that they’re basically on a first-name basis with a bunch of the doctors and nurses. whenever they come in, it’s like “oh, what have you boys done now?” (but really the nurses all love them bc they’ve charmed them and their stories about what happened this time are always hilarious)

bruce cooks sometimes and jerome “helps”, by which i mean he sits at the kitchen counter and just gossips to him, plays on his phone and/or watches him without actually lifting a finger to do anything - until he gets bored and things end up burning because bruce gets Distracted. eventually bruce enlists him to help chop vegetables and stir things because if he’s here, he can be useful, and jerome’s like “hmm what do i get in return?” so they develop a barter system where [x] activity gets jerome [x] amount of kisses and thus things actually get done while satisfying both of them without too much distraction. the only issue being that jerome keeps a) raising his prices and b) insisting on getting rewards for the most ridiculous shit now, like passing a bag of carrots over the counter because it’s just “SO MUCH UNPAID LABOUR, BRUCE” 

still has moments where he reflexively flinches if someone significantly older/bigger/taller than him moves too quickly or suddenly, though people around his size/age or less are fine

is actually more self-conscious about his burnt hand than he lets on. he puts on a front like it doesn’t bother him, but the fact that he’s usually wearing fingerless gloves or has a bandage wrapped around it or has his sleeves pulled over his hands when he can’t have either of those says something. he actually managed to keep bruce and elijah from seeing it for quite a while, since that would have been harder to explain away than other things - they noticed he usually had his hands covered but didn’t think it was for a particular reason beyond it being a Jerome Quirk. one of the most notable things that happens in the future when things start to improve is that he stops wearing the gloves and eventually actually lets bruce hold that hand, whereas before if bruce tried he’d usually pull away and switch sides so bruce could hold the other

the others convinced him to see a therapist after he was officially diagnosed and unexpectedly he agreed (mostly to get everyone off his back), and he was assigned to a relatively young woman called bee. he didn’t expect it to accomplish anything and basically spent the first few sessions being an uncooperative shit and turning everything back on her and giving her smartass answers to her questions. it took a long while, but she eventually proved to be Cool and Funny enough for him to start warming up to her - which didn’t mean he was any more cooperative with the therapy side of things, but it did mean he started to use the phone number she gave him to text her about completely unrelated things in the vein of “holy shit bee you’re not gonna believe what miah just did”. she went along with it and their sessions morphed into jerome mostly giving her Gossip or them having casual conversations - but girl knew what she was doing. he gradually started to talk about bruce, jeremiah and elijah, about his relationship, about school, about the circus, and eventually opened up more about certain things that happened. he never quite got to the point of discussing his feelings about the abuse in-depth (though he did end up telling her a fair amount abt how he felt about bruce) but all in all therapy ended up having a positive effect on him, though bee was v talented at letting him think he wasn’t really giving her much info and that every realisation he came to during their sessions was down to him alone and not because he was talking things through with someone

likes hugs/cuddling/hand-holding much more than he will ever let on

never completely stops smoking, but he does tone it down after they all leave high school. he’ll smoke with other people and sometimes when he’s really bored or waiting for someone, but it’s not one of his first methods of passing the time anymore. trying to get him to stop drinking is a lost cause, though.

Getting through hell

1: meeting by chance

In which Seras has taken a lot of damage after fighting witches by herself. She is on a mission of her own, trying to hinder the coven that she abandoned years ago from gaining a powerful artifact in hell. Doubting herself and her resolve to put her life on the line for her goal, she tries to recover and hide her wounds when she encounters the brothers. The chance encounter and the fact that D+V are looking for a way out of hell, spur her into lying and making a deal with them to get them out of hell in exchange for their help. Seras is really digging this guy with the slicked back hair, but that is only for her right now. There are more pressing matters to attend to- Seras observes the moon in hells skies. Waning already.

2: Ungrateful wench

After clueing the brothers in on at least a part of what is going on, the group encounters their first enemy, a witch that stands between them and a tunnel they need to get through. Being too weak to fight, Seras has to stand back and watch the men fight. Dante is the one fighting this witch. First hints on the book and Seras relation to the coven and it’s master are dropped. First banter between V+S

3: starting to work together, killing a big one

Getting through the tunnels, they soon realize that they are being followed. What seems to be a small fry, turns out to be a controlled demon, fighting against it’s will. An earthbound witch has infected the demon after it had entered a contract with it. While still not too much of a fight, the guys need to work together a tiny bit. Seras rids the demon of the witch’s core that it carried, but it is promptly stolen by the witch it belonged to. Dante persues the enemy and leaves V+S to themselves. He will catch up to them later. With the witch gone, the tunnels are soon behind them- Seras is pleased with this. Her eyes again, searching for the moon high above them.

4:tattered books on broken shelves

More banter. Playful from Sera’s side. Vergil has to hide a smile or two~ He is not exactly made of stone, you know. They move forward and reach the ruins of an old library. All the texts in the books and scrolls are writting in ancient demonic languages. Frustration on S’s part as she realizes that even if she was holding the book in her hands she wouldn’t know, as she can’t read the words. Their half assed search for the book (vergil is barely taking part as he is more amused by her than he dares to admit, also, he is not taking the witches seriously, so far. they are only human after all) is cut short when another witch makes an appearance. this one, accompanied by a strong demon she contracted with. she claims to already have the book and drops more info about what the coven wants with it. Seras is enraged and uses up what energy she still has left to do some damage but ends up almost killed as her powers forsake her. Vergil finishes the fight and finds the sought after book while Seras is unconscious. He picks up his witch and leaves the now burning library.

5: flashback to the coven

Memories of Seras’ time as a member of the coven. Getting found by mother, learning to control her core, finding out about mother’s past. Leaving (to save herself.)

6:you are made of moonlight 

Seras wakes up but is barely able to move. It is night and while she was out, Vergil has brought them to a safer place. A quiet lakeside that seems eerily uncharacteristic for hell, she notices (but whatever i just want to write it like that ahahah). waking up a little more she notices Vergils coat on her. Well worn and with tattered edges if you are up close. That’s that for the coat but what about the man usually wearing it? Speaking of which, the one wearing it is washing up at the lake and we get some peeping action on shirtless vergil. yay. He notices her being awake as he comes back and we get some playful banter- now from both sides. Maybe her outburst in the last chapter has earned her some points?She asks if the witch really had a book with her; Vergil lies and says that nothing was dropped.Anyways, she explains that she wont be able to move further for a long time unless she gets some demonic energy for her core. He is sceptic at first but relents and offers his own. After a last few seconds of gazing up at the moon Seras falls asleep at his shoulder.Vergil reads in the book, secretly. some fluff- too bad seras wont know. you are getting soft Vergil, must be because you are getting old, my dude.

7: secrets written in ennoch

We get to know a little bit about the contents of the book. Part of the origin story of witches. :U cool. Hints about the true nature of the ‘first contract’ and who it was made between. Kinda a flashback of people we dont know. but it’s cool- this is what Vergil has been reading i guess.

8: breakthrough, the rewards for your feelings

Someone completely ruins the mood just when Seras wakes up and finds herself in a good spot (damn). With her energy fully recharged and her owunds finally closed, Seras wants to kick ass but of course things go different than she imagined. (does anything ever go her way?) Vergil is blocking her from the fight at every corner- damn you, tough guy. (exchange enemy with demon type- someone Vergil knows from his time in hell when he served Mundus) Bickering ensues, use of SDT due to irrational anger, genuinely trying to keep Seras save although she could probably fight- maybe also trying to keep her out of it bc it’s HIS problem- not hers.  He wins the fight but Seras is pissed and they argue. BONDING MOMENT???

8a: DEFINITELY A NEW CHAPTER HERE

A witch appears :D Wow, so innovative. this time Seras participates and things seem to go smoothly until the witch bamboozles them hard.  Seras ends up trapped because of something. Funnily enough, this enemy is not easy to kill. Fast and with amazing regenerative abilities that even put sparda blood to shame. Vergil struggles, no matter what weapons he decides to use against this witch. Seras is helplessly watching from afar :/ Finally, as all seems to be in vain, Yamato appears. With this, the witch is killed in seconds. Vergil wins, they are safe from the witch and the sword that can open portals is back. Which also means....there is no need for Vergil to help Seras anymore...or is there? Uneasy feelings.

9: The things we don’t dare say out loud.

Some backtracking through the past chapters, with vergil’s POV in focus.  The way he came to look at Seras has changed throughout the story for reasons we could guess- and some reasons we couldnt guess.  It’s true that with his Yamato back in his hands, there is no need to kill the witches of the coven anymore in order to get out of hell.  Still, Vergil chooses to stay at Seras’ side.  With some words that are so desperately needed to be said left unspoken, Seras and Vergil continue their way. The moon sickle is already dangerously thin. (needs more bonding stuff)

10: welcome back, dante

Dante comes back! YAY! This man is so confused when he realizes that the other two have become much more friendly with each other than before. The reunion is cut short by another witch. And this one isnt nice at all. For her fallen sisters, this one has gathered all the demons that have been freed of their contracts and formed an amalgamation of death and decay. Aiming straight for Seras, she is seriously out for blood. The group fights together to get rid of this last witch. Knowing that this was the last one of the witches that entered hell, that their plans have most likely been shattered successfully,  and that ‘Mother’ had pulled the strings from the safety of the covens base, our trio finally leaves hell....only to be greeted by.... 

11: Inivitation to your funeral

Seras’ actions in hell havent gone unnoticed. This witch is in for some trouble. Slyly, she is greeted with smiles and hugs in front of the pesky half demon brothers. Come back home, girl, Mother isn’t mad at all...This is her funeral she is getting invited to. the lie is obvious to seras. Yet still, how could she refuse, and pull the guys through even more of her problems. She agrees to follow ‘her sisters’ but not before taking one last thing she needs from the man that has helped her so much and who she has grown so fond of in such a short time. Just once. For luck (if only luck could really help her now). She steals a quick kiss from his lips that surprises not just everyone around her, but also herself. Yeah, if it wasnt her death day, she would have loved to find out if the feeling was shared. (Dante: Hey, where’s my kiss? I helped too!!) This ends her deal with the brothers. Seras leaves with the witches.  At the base of the coven, mother greets her with bittersweet contempt. The gall to stand before mother with a smile on her face. Seras reveals the reason she ran from the coven. Mother is hundreds of years old, keeping her youthful appearance with not illusion magic but by raising promising witches and stealing their bodies once she is satisfied they have a powerful enough core. Her technique is lacking though, and finding a host body that wont reject her has become harder and harder with each change she underwent. The book the witches were send to seek in hell has important information on the original witches, their powerful contracts and the origin of their powers. Mother needs it to save herself from falling apart. Nevertheless, the book is in hell, or lost in the fire, the portal closed and mother’s plans in shambles.  Bound and with the blade on her neck, Seras is ready to die, satisfied with knowing that mother’s life will end soon as well. Only, the execution is halted when... 

12: Betrayal

Vergil appears. (how the fuck did he even find this place??) Seras is alive. for now. (and secretly extremely happy to see Vergil there, bc oh wow he kinda came to save her, right?). The joy is shortlived though, when Vergil instead of just starting to fight, engages in buisness talk with mother. the book she has been looking for---he has it. and he wants to strike a deal. mother is quick to try and lure him in with promises of power. He wants to take the conversation elsewhere. And for that, ‘this’ needs to be finished. He stabs Seras with Yamato. Wow, much heartbreak. Mother is satisfied with this, seeing that Seras is bleeding out on the ground. The witches take their leave and Vergil joins them. Might change this and instead have ‘mother’ take Seras unconcious body to try and use it for herself, can add nice sappy scenes with Vergil longingly looking at her sleeping form if I do that :DDD[Dante appears, too late, and yet just in time to save Seras from certain death. He takes her to Devil May Cry. (maybe this is a good time to show some more characters. Morrison for intel, Trish for some demonic stuff- i love lady but i dont know how and if to fit her in here)].

13: I long for her. 

Vergil’s POV: about the book, his deal with ‘Mother’. We realize that he is in fact not after more power- but just here to get rid of the witches once and for all. (this has to do with stuff the witches have said to and about Seras, and what he heard before he interrupted Seras’ execution.) Is this man actually doing something for someone else?!?! wow. Seems he likes that Witch he met in hell a tiny bit. <3But even if he gets rid of the witches, after what he did to save her- how would she trust him again? Poor Vergil~ Subject to change[Meanwhile Seras is restless, Dante and Trish want to leave to kick some Witch and Vergil ass but she is still too injured to be of help. Still, she hides the pain and joins them. She could ask Trish or dante for help and some demonic energy that would heal her up more quickly....but she doesnt feel right about that.  Vergil stabbed her, betrayed her and joined the one she hates the most...yet she can still feel some of his energy lingering within her and taking someone elses would erase that...and, for some reason....well fuck it, it’s bc she has fallen madly in love, would hurt more than the slowly healing stab wound. Dante seems to know something about the whole thing...he tries to comfort Seras, but can’t find the right words to explain his hunch about something to her. Either way, the new moon is approaching, and the witches must be stopped.]

14: The Contract

Mother cant read the demonic texts. With Vergil’s help the ritual for the contract is prepared. this one will grant mother powers beyond a witches imagination. And what’s more, she can bind a son of sparda to her. A desirable feat. He seems cold for now, but surely he would warm up to her in due time~New moon. The thin ring of light that is still visible only emphasizes the emptiness within it. Either way, Vergil has made his decision. A favor he won’t expect anything in return for. If Seras lives, that is enough. Dante would have saved her. Dante, ofc. The thought brought a smile to his face. No matter...the ritual is about to start.

AMA Transcript: Reluctant Company 2

This weekend, @sandmancircus​ dropped by to chat about her 2016 Resbang: Reluctant Company 2! Here’s some of what went down:

Q: What was the hardest and most rewarding parts of your processes? And how did you get/develop your ideas?

Sand: The hardest part was definitely the ending, because endings are balls and I can never seem to get them right or do them justice in my opinion - this time included. The most rewarding is probably writing in the jokes, because I will giggle to myself because I think I'm funny. But also, completing something I've been working on for upwards of 3 years is also super rewarding.

Q: What was your favorite scene to write?

Sand: Fav scene would maybe be the scene with Mifune? No spoilers cuz again, I think I'm funnier than I am and don't want to ruin anything, but I was snorting when I wrote it.

Q: Do you find it easier to write from Free or Eruka's POV, or are both about the same?

Sand: I really like writing from Eruka's point of view because she is sassy and a coward and mildly evil.

Q: What made you decide to be such a perfect phenomenal person and write a sequel for Resbang?

Sand: Because I am an imperfect horrible person and didn't totally completely finish my last years Resbang because I had to cut it off. I was hoping no mods would read my last years and notice it wasn't finished but then MARSH DID and I was like fucking Marsh.

Q: Did you have a writing playlist or character/theme playlists or anything?

Q: Okay I love the end that just has -- well you don't want spoilers but... surprise bye bye. Were you always planning to end that way?

Sand: More or less, yes.

Q: Since this was a sequel that was apparently in the works since the first part, was the planning process pretty easy? Like, did you know a lot of what was going to happen already? Did you have any written already?

Sand: When I first came up with the idea 4-ish years ago? it was slightly different but the outcome was always the same. I would have liked to draw it out a bit more though. I had NONE written lol, because I am a procrastinating procrastinator who procrastinates. I knew the ending, which helped, but getting there needed adjusting because I had made some plot twists that weren't in the initial plan. Some things were planned and some things I just started writing when I sat down, it was funny like that.

Q: Where did the original idea for this fic come from? Or what made you decide to tell this story, outta curiosity?

Sand: Several years ago, I was driving with my dad down a highway in BC that gets super snowy and icy and dangerous and he was like, "All you need to survive here if your car breaks down is a match and a sleeping bag." Still not sure I believe him, but the result was FIC IDEA. I can't remember if that line ever got/stayed in the fic, though I had planned mandatory snuggles around it. I think it was originally for SoMa? But I switched and it felt better.

Q: Got any other fics in the works? :wink:

Sand: No fics in the works (for the first time in YEARS) until Reverb.

Q: Were there any scenes that ended up getting cut out? Or stuff that just didnt make it into the final product?

Sand: There were scenes that didn't fit as I had added a plot twist, but aside from that, most things got in, though again, I wish I could've fleshed certain things out a bit more than I did. But time, man. I mean I say that, but without the Resbang deadlines I'm pretty sure it would've never gotten done.

Q: Was it hard returning to the thing a year later? Do you think that gap changed the final product in any big ways?

Sand: Yeah, I forgot half of what was written lol. As for if it changed - I'm sure it would've been different. A bunch of what I wrote kinda appeared in my mind at the moment and as I was dealing with different stuff. I'm sure I would have written it/developed ideas differently, if that makes sense? I did try to write it, but I kept failing without the structure.

Q: I have to ask how you came up with your version of Angela and Mifune. I laughed. A lot.

Sand: Aah Angela and Mifune. As it was a UA type thing, I wanted to continue stuffing in as many characters as I could (B*S and Blair were initially going to be in it as well) and I wanted to make them a bit wonky. Angela just turned out how she did naturally but Mifune was a bit of a spur of the moment thing. He's essentially the same with an added quirk and I wanted to see if I could write him in character despite his... quirk. They were fun.

Q: Is there anything you would want to change from the first fic, now that you've completed the sequel?

Sand: Uuummm, not really. I mostly wish I could have written them as one, but I'm happy that they're done now. More or less one of my fav things that I've written.

Q: Sarah, do you outline?

Sand: Lol no. OUTLINING IS FOR NERDS AND SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE.

Q: What is your writing process like?

Sand: I keep a list of general scenes I need for the skeleton of the fic and another list for clever dialogue lines/jokes I think up while I'm on the toilet or something. When I wrote chapter fics, I always had 1 chapter unpublished while I was writing in case I needed to change something. Take me back to those days. I would delete thousands and thousands of words and rewrite to make things fit. Kept things flowing at least.

Q: Gawd the amount of rewriting you did for the first Resbang...

Sand: THAT'S RIGHT. I sent you two first chapters to edit. Omg I was the worst.
