I love Etrian Odyssey as a series and I especially love V because “you” are a separate character from your teammates and you have no fighting ability whatsoever, implying that you apparently showed up to a famously dangerous, labyrinthine dungeon and convinced five explorers to come on a deadly journey through no less than thirty floors of uniquely difficult challenges, all because you wanted to make a map of the place.

The dedication to cartography is wonderful, it really feels like I am the character.

Also, it been almost a decade, I realize that, but I finally discovered that the way to get your maps accepted into the registry is just to draw borders, draw walls, you don’t have to walk through every green space, you just have to have boundaries drawn up. I searched for hours trying to find the answer, defeated so many FOEs, my Masurao died SO many times, and all I had to do was use my stylus to draw a little black line? I’m sharing this knowledge in the hopes that it will keep my fellow cartography lovers from going insane, why the fuck doesn’t the game just say this?

Anyway, 10/10, great game, hard as fuck but I like the character creator and I get very emotionally attached to the Wraiths and want them to stick with my party as my lil friend
