why can't cosplaying niche characters be easierrrrrrrrrr
#I just wanna cosplay hagane miku#nowhere is selling the cosplay itself#and it's impossible to find items online that have The Vibes#there was one piece on dangerfield I liked#but df uses ai and people warned me off shopping there#so I'm checking the cosplay sites#and I'm checking aliexpress which they rec'd#and fucking. nothing. what the hell.#there's a regular miku cosplay on uwowo#it might fit in some areas#but I'd have to modify it if I wanted it to work#for hagane miku specifically#WHY is this hard. hagane miku is cool as fuck#I already have the wig#so now I either find things with the vibes#or I fucking IMPROVISE

Not a request just wanted to say I went to emerald city comic con and it was cool and there were lots of cool COD cosplayers. I only really told one I liked there cosplay but they all looked super cool!
Also if I may ask do you tend to buy or make cosplay? I’m an amateurish cosplayer and I’m planning on making a genshin cosplay but just figuring out how to get all the little pieces and details is difficult.(honestly I’m more making it for the validation of other cosplayer since most cosplays I’ve worn have been more or less pretty simple). Anyway thx for reading :D
(don't forget my insta - @captaingremlin) Hello!! I used to sew my own costumes(for Madoka and BlackCat!Diva), but I moved out of my parent's house and out of the country after I finished school, and I didn't want to bring a sewing machine to a rental apartment, so I'm buying costumes now. I usually just tailor them to my needs and do renovations that don't require a lot of manufactured stitching. For example, for my Kokomi dress from DokiDoki cosplay, I sewed another layer of sparkly fabric underneath to make it more sparkly, I reinstalled all the furniture(because the stitches from the seller tend to be kinda flimsy and you need to resew them so nothing would get lost) and added even more crystals and sparkles all around. I tend to be a maximalist cosplayer, so this is my style - as many jewels on the face as possible, ton of wig accessories and reusable details from other suits. It's easier when you have a ton, so if you're going for your first ever cosplay from Genshin, I'd recommend either getting a cheapest possible version(if you're on a budget) and do renovations on your own, OR go for Uwowo and DokiDoki. Uwowo is a bit cheaper if you're living in Europe, and it's much faster than DokiDoki. Just don't order Uwowo from their store at Aliexpress, they are usually 30-40 dollars more expensive there. Genshin is really hard to make on your own, with all tons of details, so you can invest in the wig instead. For wig styling, I just the tiny crimper and a hair straightener, and that's it. Just crimp the wig with tutorials and then decide if you want it to be super fluffy and curly or more canon. I go for curly and fluffy style, since it can cover a lot of imperfections in the wig material, and I cover it even more with accessories. I usually go for non-canon Genshin cosplays from Uwowo and DokiDoki since I don't really like canon designs, so I can only give advice on limited number of characters( I tend to buy every possible costume for the wig that I own, so now I have 5 Kokomi costumes in my closet and another 3 in plans. Also, don't be afraid of using tape!! For my Ganyu cosplays, since I'm barely a B size, I used a lot of push-ups just kinda sticking to the costumes with medical tape, so the costumes would fill up a bit. Also, about the sizes - if you're ordering from a Chinese brand, they tend to be smaller than American/European ones. I'm 47 kg and I usually go for S/M(even though I'm XS in European size) but if you're having doubts, it's better to buy a bit larger and just sew it yourself. Also - petticoats!! You don't have to but a fancy one, just buy some petticoat skirts from party shop, it's literally makes any dress better...and also, please don't forget safety shorts if you're wearing skirts. I was wearing a schoolgirl Kokomi with extremely short skirt while bending over an aerohockey stand and then I didn't understand why there was a line behind me made from teenage boys.... Also - just use lash glue for everything, even if you're sticking something on a wig. It's better than superglur if you want to restyle it later.

Hey y'all! Just a little status update:
💙 We made $166 each for Doctors Without Borders and The Trevor Project with sales of the Ratiorine pins and stickers in July! We still have lots available on BigCartel!
💜 I've been working on my fic for @martingalezine as well as a couple pinch hits for the Haikaveh Gotcha for Gaza, and the sequel to Miasma (which should hopefully start being posted in September)
🩷 I'm also making great progress on my Dr. Ratio cosplay, a modification/upsizing of the Uwowo Cosplay collab piece, and have recorded some video of the outfit and my modifications so expect that possibly this month or after--
❤️ Windblume! I'll be down in Dallas for this Genshin fan convention this month and in the area/possibly attending San Japan the following weekend if I feel up to it. Come say hi if you're attending and grab a free sticker of the Ratiorine charity design!
🧡 I do plan on extending my social media hiatus for another month as I've been hard at work improving my physical and emotional health and not getting trapped scrolling for hours gives me so much more time to do things like cook, clean, work out, and make things. I'm still always delighted to get asks, replies, and messages but I think I'm going to transition more to just posting updates on projects/my life on here and less reblogging.
Tomorrow will mark my first full month on testosterone gel. It's not something I've talked about much, but it's a careful experimental little step in my journey towards making my body a more comfortable place to live in.
💚 Lastly, I really want to finish a full draft of my novel ADITEP by the end of the year. I've written a few hundred thousand words in false starts and backstory and scrapped scenes and I want to be able to sit down, figure out who these characters are, and finally tell their story in a cohesive manner. Ideally I'll shop the manuscript with @duckprintspress (who are also featuring me as an artist in an upcoming anthology) but to do that I have to have something to show off. So!
Much love to you all! Make sure you're registered to vote, drink water, and tell the people in your life you love them (including yourself!)

as always ezcosplay is a very hit or miss place to buy cosplay lol.
pros:
regular garments like pants, shirts, jackets, etc tend to be alright in quality and usually is true to the sizing u ordered (i ordered an xl. the pants had give so it could easily fit an xxl)
usually a good amount of wiggle room ! comfortable!
all parts are included (minus shoes, shoes u must order separately). yes i got the armor with my claude cosplay. they do a thorough job
the gloves are good and u can actually use your phone with them for the most part (in my experience anyways)
they have every character known to man. and if they dont have that niche character u wanna cosplay u can commission them!
cons:
not very breathable. im gonna be dying in my claude cosplay in august i promise u this.. but ig if you WANT to be warm for a winter con or winter photoshoot, this can actually be a plus!
sometimes the belts/ties, such as elbow armor or knee armor do NOT work. like they straightup need to be secured with something else because theyre so hard to keep on. this is likely due to the belting being pure fabric, with no actual function to them and no real means of attaching it in the first place. youre on your own with this one
smelly out of the bag. sometimes wrinkled but not always. good practice to iron it probably, but i do not own an iron so RIP
armor pieces often attach with literal safety pins. this isnt ALWAYS bad like if it works it works but theres gotta be a better way, esp for the money i paid
the colors werent 100% accurate to the character; for instance i noticed my wrist/arm/knee/elbow armor was purple instead of gold? confusing.
tend to be rather expensive!
for people like me who dont have annnyyyy sewing/crafting talent and have to order their cosplays online, ezcosplay is kind of middle of the road? not as good as dokidoki or uwowo or even miccostumes. not as bad as generic amazon cosplay.
#cosplay review#cosplay#cosplayer#ezcosplay#for what its worth im satisfied with what i got; all the pieces actually fit me and thats really what i was worried about#usually i have my measurements tailor made because theyre kinda wacky (small bust but big hips etc)#but this time i just ordered plain xl and it fit like a dream!#also they emailed me asking what color - black or purple - the base cosplay should be..#i think that was rly cool of them so kudos for customer service

July Hiatus has kicked in btw but since the pins have arrived here's a quick little update:
1) I've had some low points IRL and am currently on my third day of bowel issues, which may take me to the hospital yet today
2) I'm in a Ratiorine zine - @martingalezine - and I'm super pumped to be working with an old fandom mutual from my RvB days over there!
3) I'm working on my Dr. Ratio cosplay (a heavily modified version of the Uwowo Cosplay one) for Windblume in Dallas at the end of next month, and I am filming my process so y'all have possibly sneakily reverse engineer the costume if you don't wanna buy it.
4) I'm also working on said zine piece and the Miasma follow-up, and should also post the final chapter in the cake-cats therapy fic soon.
5) Ratiorine charity pins will start getting mailed out tomorrow if I am not hospitalized! I will also post them on eBay and Etsy possibly to get more eyes on them since aside from the initial post I have had. Very few sales. _(´ཀ`」 )_
6) I have started a very low dose of T-gel.
That's about it! Please keep me in your thoughts especially regarding the bowel issues since I really don't want surgery for an obstruction :(
