#shout out to charlie gordon and boo radley#havent read metamorphosis yet but i'm pretty sure gregor samsa would be up there as well#monologuing#uuuugufufududuudhfjfjx (confronting how society views me as useless and unnerving due to my mental shortcomings)#the part in flowers for algernon where charlie sees a young dishwasher#on his first job. accidentally breaking the plates. and getting heckled and hollered by the guests#and gets riled up enough to yell at them.#'HE CAN'T HELP WHAT HE IS! FOR GOD'S SAKE HE'S A HUMAN BEING!'#and whenever i feel isolated from my peers or alienated. i come back to that quote again and again#how throughout the book charlie repeatedly notes how gaining intelligence did not make him fit in#or give him peace of mind; it just lets him recontextualize his experience with how people treated him and his disability#and in the end he became angry and bitter with others over it.#and then i remember a post saying one of the common feeling when people first take adhd medication was anger
