Neutelings Riedijk Architects represented in Saint Petersburg and Moscow

Neutelings Riedijk Architects has been active in Russia through work on the flagship store in Moscow of fashion designer Valentin Yudashkin and invitations for the architectural competitions of the Polytechnic Museum Moscow and the Perm State Tchaikovsky Opera and Ballet Theatre.

To follow current developments in this region Michiel Riedijk is one of the members of a roundtable discussion held at the Moscow Institute of Architecture on Friday November 21st, highlighting the achievements and opportunities in architecture and urban planning in Russia. In celebration of The Netherlands-Russia Year 2013, the exhibition The Fantastic Library will open on Saturday November 30th.

The culture house Rozet and the Netherlands Institute of Sound and Vision are on display at the State Russian Library Moscow until December 15th. Neutelings Riedijk Architects will present recent work in Saint Petersburg on Saturday November 22nd at a public lecture. After the lecture the guests will be able to enjoy a selection of movies during the Netherlands Architecture Film Festival.

Additionally Neutelings Riedijk Architects will also be represented at the Pro Urban Forum in Saint Petersburg on Monday November 25th at their conferences as well as part of an exhibition held during the forum organised by the Dutch Consulate. Alternatively work by Neutelings Riedijk Architects can also be seen in exhibitions at the Centre Pompidou in Paris and at the Design Shanghai, both until March 2014.

Moscow Polytechnical Museum image from Neutelings Riedijk Architects The Moscow Polytechnical Museum is transformed into a ���City of Innovation’ where past, present and future of the human inventiveness come together. The nineteenth century museum will be renovated with respect to the existing qualities. The courtyard is covered to form the new heart of the museum. This central hall is opened up on all sides to connect to the public domain of the city. The glazed roof of the courtyard forms a big event hall, hovering over the museum. This multi-purpose hall creates a new public space where the techological future of Russia is represented while a spectacular panorama over Moscow city center is offered.

Valentin Yudashkin Flagship store and headquarters image from Neutelings Riedijk Architects The Valentin Yudashkin Flagship store and headquarters is situated at an important crossing along Kutuzovsky Boulevard. The building has a matroesjka like box in box organization. The outer box is a fragile structure clad with the Yudashkin brand logo in coloured relief glass panes, forming a winter garden and restaurant. Inside the glass box stands a huge wooden cabinet as a precious chest that contains all the Yudashkin marvels. The heart of the cabinet is the golden room, aligned by pivoting panels and mirrors. This room is the main retail space but acts at the same time as a theatre were all kind of cultural and commercial events can be staged.

Perm State Tchaikovsky Opera and Ballet Theatre image from Neutelings Riedijk Architects The extension of the nineteenth century Perm State Tchaikovsky Opera and Ballet Theatre is conceived as a gently stepped podium forming a continuation of the park landscape. Two objects are floating above the podium, as sculptures in the Park, next to the existing theatre. One side houses the Rehearsal Studios in a vertical element, the other side houses the new theatre room in a horizontal element. By opening the rehearsal rooms, the foyer and the theatre room to the park, a multitude of theatrical possibilities within one single complex are offered. A revolutionary machine floor and ceiling makes several theatre settings possible. Allowing the new Theatre to host all kinds of contemporary theatre productions.

Designs for International Competitions by Neutelings Riedijk Architects The MAS | Museum Aan de Stroom – in Antwerp, designed by Neutelings Riedijk Architects, has now been open for one year. Being a big success, the museum has welcomed 1 million visitors since its opening. Neutelings Riedijk Architects worked on several other projects for new international museums.

Last year, the office has been selected for competitions on large museum projects such as the Musée Régional in Narbonne, France, The House of European History, Brussels, and the Polytechnical Museum in the centre of Moscow. Currently, Neutelings Riedijk Architects is designing the second phase of the masterplan for the renovation and extension of the Cincinnati Art Museum; the rehabilitation of the Adams Emery Wing, with a surface of about 5.000 m2. The office has also been invited to take part in the prestigious competition for the extension of the Kunsthalle in Mannheim, Germany. The new wing, with a surface of 10.000 m2 will host the most important contemporary artists. 8 Mar 2012

Monograph of Neutelings Riedijk Architects The new monograph of Neutelings Riedijk Architects has been published as part of the international renowned series El Croquis for the second time since 1998. photo from Neutelings Riedijk Architects Titled ‘Neutelings Riedijk – Conventions and Identity’, this monograph will give a selected overview of projects from 2003 to 2012 and focuses on the use of ornamentation in architecture. The issue contains texts by Aaron Betsky, Michiel Riedijk and an interview by Enrique Walker with Willem Jan Neutelings and Michiel Riedijk.

Thirteen iconic projects are shown such as the MAS | Museum aan de Stroom in Antwerp, the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision in Hilversum, the Shipping and Transport College in Rotterdam and the ‘Walterboscomplex’ Tax Office in Apeldoorn. Also competition work is included like the Antwerp Port Coordination Center (ACC) and projects under construction such as the Culture House in Arnhem and the Culture House in Amersfoort.

Iedere gemeente hanteert eigen indicatieregels voor Individueel vervoer. Het is wel goed om te weten dat individueel vervoer alleen wordt toegekend bij uiterste noodzaak.

Kinderen jonger dan 12 jaar mogen niet zonder begeleiding reizen met Regiotaxi Utrecht. Maximaal 2 kinderen tot 4 jaar, mits begeleid door een betalende taxi naar vliegveld reiziger van 12 jaar of ouder, betalen géén bijdrage als reiziger (zij mogen geen Wmo-reiziger zijn). Er geldt een maximum van 2 minderjarige kinderen (ouder dan 3 jaar) per betalende Wmo-reiziger ouder dan 12 jaar.

“Shit’s confusing, man. I don’t know shit about shit and neither does anyone else.” Alweer klopt de dagelijkse quote bij de omstandigheden. Wel een beetje een andere context dan de eigenlijke quote (the follow up quote... oh boy), maar het idee van constante verwarring is kloppend.

En nu is Eurovisie ook nog eens geannuleerd. Normaal ben ik niet de grootste ESC fan, maar het voelt zo “final”.

De dag begon meh, want mijn gordijn was helemaal opengesprongen, dus ik werd om 10:00 wakker. Nou, nu weet ik dat dat heel laat klinkt, maar inmiddels weten jullie dat mijn slaapschema anders ligt. Verder stinken mijn sloffen, dus ik heb ze in de was gegooid. Kurt en Blaine hebben het gelukkig overleefd. Ja, ze heten Kurt en Blaine. Nee, ik heb ze niet zo genoemd, maar Lulu heeft ze die namen gegeven toen ze sloffen aan me af als cadeau.

Ik weet dat het sloffen zijn, maar kijk nou eens hoe schattig ze zijn. Ze liggen nog te drogen.

Toen kwam natuurlijk ook de jaloezie over Animal Crossing. Mijn reacties toen de rest hun games lieten zien:

De hectiek van de dag stopt niet hier. De mail van Radboud heeft dus toch veel losgemaakt. Sanne wilt namelijk misschien toch weg.

Ze is niet de enige. Sanne heeft me toegevoegd aan een WhatsApp groep met andere Nederlandse studenten in Slovenië en het ziet er naar uit dat de 3 andere Radboud studenten ook wel het advies willen volgens. Sad.

Ik zal niet alleen zijn. De stagiair bij de ambassade blijft hier. Ik weet niet wat die van Utrecht en UvA gaan doen.

Ik houd niet van deze onduidelijkheid. Eén mail en alles is weer anders. Tot nu is mijn intentie nog steeds om te blijven, want ik voel me veel veiliger in Slovenië wegens de Sloveense maatregelen en de dunbevolktheid van dit land, maar anderen willen terug.

Er is alleen een probleem: we kunnen niet weg. Ik ben wel een beetje geïrriteerd met Radboud hierover. Slovenië had de sluiting van de grenzen aangegeven, dus waarom krijgen we de mail nu pas? Van tevoren kregen we juist een mail dat Radboud geen reden zag om ons terug te halen. Natuurlijk, het nieuws verandert constant, maar dat is zo kut.

Dit land zit helemaal dicht. De enige mogelijkheid uit is via taxi naar Oostenrijk en vanaf Oostenrijk met de trein, waarschijnlijk naar Schiphol of zo. Ja, dat klinkt niet echt veilig en handig. Plus, Oostenrijk is ook van plan om de grenzen te sluiten. De meesten in de app waren het er ook over eens: de kans dat we stranden in Oostenrijk is te groot.

De stagiair van de ambassade is wel echt geweldig. Hij geeft ons constant alle informatie vanuit de ambassade door. De ambassade kan voorlopig niets voor ons doen, wegens de gesloten grenzen. Ze zeggen dat het geheel eigen risico is om via Oostenrijk te gaan, dus dat is... fijn. Kuch. 

Eén student van RU (Radboud, ik gebruik vanaf nu die afkorting) had Central International Office ook gemaild en zij kreeg ook terug dat ze niets konden betekenen. Ze zeiden ook dat het geheel eigen risico is via Oostenrijk.

Nou, begrijp dat ik niet boos ben op de ambassade en de RU voor dat antwoord. Zij kunnen er ook niets aan doen. Niemand zag de grootte van dit virus aankomen.

Uiteindelijk heb ik ons Maris gebeld. Herinner je haar? Mariska is er voor Communicatiewetenschap, dus ze kon ten eerste alleen iets voor mij en Sanne betekenen. Mariska stelde vragen. Zijn we veilig? Zijn we gezond? Zijn we nog welkom in Ljubljana? Wat is de situatie? Is er een mogelijkheid om uit te reizen? 

Ik heb Mariska de hele situatie uitgelegd en zij heeft contact gelegd met de Facultaire International Office. Op de RU is er een Centrale IO en elke faculteit heeft ook een eigen IO. Die werken onder Centrale IO, dus dit is niet zo gedecentraliseerd als in Ljubljana. 

Heel snel kregen Sanne en ik een mail van de Facultaire IO. Ik heb haar ook de hele situatie uitgelegd en ik heb benadrukt dat ik wil blijven, maar dat anderen dus vast zitten. Ook schreef ik meteen dat iedereen hier veilig is en in het antwoord gaf ze aan dat ze heel blij was om dat te horen. Dat is een last minder. Sanne heeft apart een mail teruggestuurd. Dat hadden we afgesproken.

De medewerkster van de Facultaire IO heeft het weer doorgestuurd naar de Centrale IO. Aangezien er dus geen haast is, kan het zijn dat het advies wordt aangepast. Het kan ook zijn dat de RU zelf nu iets kan proberen te regelen om ons allemaal weg te halen.

Dat is dus eigenlijk waar ik mee zit: stel, ik hoef niet te gaan, maar ze geven me wel een manier om te gaan, moet ik het dan doen?

Ik blijf benadrukken dat ik wil blijven. Mam en pap zijn op de hoogte van mijn plannen en ze zijn er mee eens dat het erop lijkt dat Slovenië veiliger is. Daar ben ik wel blij om. Sanne’s ouders willen haar terug, Caroline’s moeder wilde haar terug, Rita’s ouders wilden haar terug.

Dat is één van de redenen dat Sanne nu ook twijfelt. Dat is de grootste reden dat Caroline is vertrokken. Ik zei ook al tegen pa en ma dat als ze dat gingen eisen, dat ik waarschijnlijk terug zou komen of ik het nou zou willen of niet.

Verder is Sanne verveeld. Ze is maar begonnen met Spaans te leren. Ik had haar de videogame Stardew Valley aangeraden, though. Voor €15 heb je veel tijd en plezier.

Ik weet dat het erger kan worden. Al vanaf vorige week heb ik in mijn achterhoofd dat in “worst case scenario” dat ik hier tot ergens in augustus kan zitten. Maar ja, eerst wachten we maar op een antwoord van Centrale IO. Dat is oké. Alsnog, niemand heeft haast om hier weg te komen, maar ik moet maar wel weer Ljubljana op de hoogte stellen van deze nieuwe ontwikkelingen.

Dani belde rond 2 uur en we hebben voor 1 uur en 20 minuten gesproken. Dani zou eigenlijk langskomen op begin april, maar dat gaat natuurlijk niet door. We besproken deze oprecht bizarre informatie. Ik zei ook tegen haar: “If you had asked how I’m feeling exactly a day before this, my answer would’ve been completely different.”

Ik houd gewoon niet van deze onzekerheid, jongens. De zelfverzekerdheid begint weg de ijlen. En niemand weet wat er nu gaat gebeuren. Dat is het ergste. De pure onzekerheid. 

Ik ben dus helemaal oké om te blijven. Fuck, ik zou er ook oké mee zijn om terug te komen, gewoon teleurgesteld en verdrietig. Maar deze onzekerheid? Dat is niet oké. Zoals ik al zei in het begin van deze post: “Shit’s confusing, man!”

Renault busca promover la movilidad eléctrica en Europa

El Grupo Renault anunció un nuevo proyecto convocado por la Comisión Europea en el que busca promover la movilidad eléctrica a través de experimentos, centrados en los usuarios, de tecnologías innovadoras de recarga para los vehículos eléctricos.

El proyecto INCIT-EV responde a la necesidad de probar nuevas tecnologías de recarga en condiciones reales. Para ello ha creado un consorcio de 33 fabricantes, universidades, institutos, ciudades, starts-up y pymes con el deseo común de avanzar en lo que a la movilidad eléctrica en Europa se refiere.

INCIT-EV tendrá una duración de cuatro años y se dividirá en dos etapas. La primera, la fase de estudio de las tecnologías de recarga y su integración en las infraestructuras, el cual iniciará en abril de 2020. La segunda fase es la de demostración en el terreno de siete tecnologías, está será implementada a partir del segundo semestre de 2022 y hasta el final del proyecto, en diciembre de 2023.

Las tecnologías que se pondrán en práctica son:

Un sistema de recarga dinámica por inducción en zona urbana de París en Francia

Sistemas de recarga de alta potencia en la periferia de Tallin en Estonia

Recarga inteligente bidireccional optimizada en Ámsterdam y Utrecht en los Países Bajos

Un sistema de recarga dinámica por inducción en áreas periurbanas / de largo alcance en Versalles en Francia

Un centro de recarga en un aparcamiento para vehículos de uso compartido en la periferia de Turín en Italia

La recarga bidireccional de baja potencia (incluidas dos ruedas) y la recarga inductiva estática en los carriles de taxis ubicados en el aeropuerto y en la estación central de Zaragoza en España.

El proyecto estará parcialmente financiado por el programa Horizon 2020, de la Unión Europea. De esta manera plantea un nuevo panorama futurístico que estimulará el despliegue del vehículo eléctrico en Europa.
