In Parkour Civilization, noobs can do a one-block jump for a raw chicken to barely survive day-to-day, or they can attempt a more difficult one-block vertical jump for a piece of raw beef, which gives more saturation (energy) and allows them to attempt levelling up to the Pro Level. Does your blorbo play it safe with the chicken or risk it all for the beef? Do they succeed or fail?

Dark comedy and kids morning TV show - a fun way to deal with depression
It’s been a rough year, and I thought I was really depressed lately. That was until I discovered….
Life lessons with Uramichi onii-san.
Now I consider myself being just a little bit sad!
Just kidding.
I think more people should know about it.
Have you ever seen children morning TV shows? I don’t know how it is in other countries, but we have a lot of it – ones with one or two hosts painting or doing gym or whatever with children. I have two little sisters so I got a glimpse of them at a considerably mature age (I was 10 and too old for that stuff). And I always wondered what does life for these people look like? Do their face muscles hurt from constant smiling? Do they feel like sad jesters inside? Do they get sick from working with toddlers?
All these questions are answered in Life lessons with Uramichi onii-san.
This anime is about an adult man who hosts a gym section in the morning show for little children, but also has severe depression. Do you consider yourself having depression? Well, don’t worry about that, Uramichi onii-san has it worse.
Tumblr media
Genre is a slice of life and dark comedy.
So what do we have aside from comedy relying on severe contrast between Uramichi onii-san’s inside and outside reaction to small events in his life?
Firstly – characters, which all are charming in their own realistic way.
1. Uramuchi onii-san who’s 31 and stuck on his job which requires all the mental strength in the world but he doesn’t have even a little bit. As I said Uramuchi has severe depression and mostly lives his life as getting through one more day aka existing without any meaning. But he’s still oddly fond of children who he works with and their smiles help him get some strength.

2. Iketeru onii-san. He’s 27 and he sings in this show. He’s an innocent cinnamon roll but enjoys dirty jokes a little bit too much. And yes, he’s still innocent. You’ll get it.
3. Utano onee-san. Also sings. She’s 32, she has been in 6 years long relationship and her unsuccessful boyfriend still hasn’t proposed. Actually, she’s the one who has the least part in the series, so…she enjoys beer.
4. Kumatani-kun. He’s 28 and he plays bear in the show. He’s also cinnamon roll and the kindest guy but the one who’s been through some shit in his life. Nothing too dramatic, but still shit. Spoiler alert - you'll absolutely love this guy.
5. Usahara-kun. Also 28 and plays rabbit in the show. He’s kinda guy who tries to be cool but always fails. He respects Uramachi a lot, but fails to show it or even properly interact with him…but that is something you can understand only by the end of the series.
Secondly – it’s pretty much life lessons. Uramichi explains a lot of adult things like harassment or bending over around authorities to children in his own manner (don’t worry, it’s suitable for children), which can really help you to deal with adult life. Uramichi is a perfect example of a millennial, who is stuck with his life and unable to move on or do something cause of capitalism and is fully aware of it. Maybe it's not entirely something that creators intended to show, but I saw exactly this. So yeah, it’s not the show that gives you hope and tells you to follow your dreams, It’s the show that explains that it’s okay to give up on your dream, that life is shit and sometimes the only happiness you have is a little piece of tasty pastry after work. Sounds depressing, but it’s exactly what my life looks like right now – for example.
Tumblr media
Thirdly, it’s hella hilarious. I mean it. The bonus part of the humour is in Uramichi’s voice tone, so I recommend watching it with subtitles.
Tumblr media
Btw, you shouldn’t skip songs. They seem childish but they are not meant for children. Also a huge part of the show’s tone and overall charm. I have a theory that this morning show is so popular because of adult things that are allowed on the show. It probably attracts parents that watch this show with their kids and Uramichi’s little speeches have huge success over adult auditory and also make him show authority’s favourite. I don’t know if that’s true or not but you can see little pieces of evidence of it here or there.
Plus, I love the dynamics between the main five characters. Patterns of their relationships are so sweet and it’s nice to see their interactions.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I doubted if I should post it, cause you know…this blog is an absolute mess. But it’s both something I want to share with people and something that I think can help people like me deal with their life. I frankly haven’t seen anything like that in media at all, and I wish I could see more of those life lessons. You know, something that doesn’t look like a supposed-to-be inspiring film from the 00s with lots of clichés and unrealistic plot points and all this “don’t give up” bullshit.
Tumblr media
So yeah. I highly recommend life lessons with Uramichi onii-san for you to watch and hope probably to talk about it with someone.
