KOKIA in flashback - 2011

After traveling across many borders last year, KOKIA uses 2011 to do something new yet again: her new album moment is entirely stage recorded during sessions open for public. She also releases a sister DVD to this album, to show the behind the scenes of recording. Quite some songs from this album will continue to show up in performances even years down the line.

This year also marks her 5th year of independence with her office anco&co, and she celebrates this milestone with a 2 day concert in Tokyo: 5th season concert. This concert gets a 4-disc DVD release recording both days, as the track list differs quite significantly for each day. (Although interestingly, the song Itsutsume no kisetsu ('the fifth season') from the album moment doesn't pop up at all.)

KOKIA also releases an album collecting all her tie-in works so far that haven't been released on albums under her own name yet: Pieces. She has new tie-ins this year, including a song for Final Fantasy XIII-2.

And on a side note, this is also the year yours truly started this kokiafans blog! The very first post was made on September 6, 2011, just after the release of pieces. I wasn't as diligent with tagging translations for relevant lives and events yet, but I will try to include links to blog translations etc. starting from this year onward.

Nightmarish Territory

"We welcome you to our beautiful world, please relax and enjoy yourself"

The words echoed as candles soon lit themselves aimlessly hanging in the air, warm gold tones emitted the place with romantic light and an almost everlasting calmness seemed to fill the area. Your eyes wandered flickering as the other girls ran over to talk to each of the brother's playful smiles on their faces, the members of starish met their gaze with a sort of a wistful calmness, almost as if they were born into the roles they were playing. You chuckled as you walked over to the deserts, smiling at the array of treats.

"Anything you are in particular for my lady" Tokiya's voice was relaxed and calm as he playfully hung a couple of deserts in the air above a couple of the guests head, not quite playing tricks on them but you knew it was all in good fun, the dark colors of their costumes gave them an nightmarish look about them as if something wasn't quite right.  

"No thank you, it's beautiful seeing all eleven you together like this isn't it?" you asked your voice a bit curt as you glanced over, Masato was standing in the corner, a book in one hand and one of the puddings in the other, quietly speaking to a group of young girls, all wearing bejeweled masks and ballroom gowns.

"Don't you think you are getting a bit too in character?" Tokiya's voice was a smirk as he glanced you up and down, gleaming in a silver gown with blue roses and lilacs, most of the girls had stopped to stare at you, some of them with their mouth hanging wide open. The invitations had stated that extravagant attire had been planned but being who you were supposed to be with, the more extravagance the better.

"What can I say, when you...."

The sound of something shattering broke your attention and you glanced up seeing Cecil holding what seemed to be part of a broken glass in his hand, he wasn't hurt per say but her looked particularly offended though you were more interested in his offender, Jinguji Ren stood at the base of the stairs, twirling a dart in one hand while small rose shaped gems danced around his head, he noticed your expression and winked gliding down the stairs and landing next to you.

"Something the matter lady, you look rather offended, it was only a simple parlor trick. and you know better than anyone else here that I never miss my target." his voice was close to your ear and you allowed your eyes to roll straightening yourself with a sigh.

"Of course, but wouldn't the other ladies in the house be offended if you spent all your time talking to me?"

"I don't seem the harm in it, with all these wonderful women in the room, and the atmosphere it would almost seem like it was part of a show, besides all of us only have eyes for you"

The laughter that echoed through the ballroom was a bit disturbing, you muttered something under your breath about him being too in character when your eyes caught someone standing on the rafters.

"Oh do go on, I'm certain there isn't anyone who would..."

Your words were cut off as a flash of blue flame and bats appeared, your eyes flickering up as you stepped back watching as Camus descended from the top of the balcony.  It was clearly theatrical aspect but the display was more then enough interest for your taste, your glanced over at the other girls and covered your mouth sheepishly, how long had you two..been...together you weren't sure but he was always trying to out stage people, it wasn't his character but had he become possessive?

The feeling his hand grabbing yours and pulling you onto the dance floor as a rather slow version of Aurora played was enough to make you chuckle slightly.

"Is this going overboard, I mean if you pulled such a beautiful performance for me, you have to do this type of performance for the other guests." You said bluntly though the color from your cheeks hadn't faded.

"You get way into character" Camus said shaking his head

Aoi Shouta, Shoutan!!! Requested by a close friend, I drew one of our favourite singer and voice actor. Inspired by his Innocent Wind performance during UtaPri's 5th stage. I tried something different. Subtle but different. Albeit a tad bit awkward, he did have make up on during the event but I cannot make him look masculine. He's adorable anyway, isn't he?
