This is rarely useful, but you can actually have multiple username+password combinations for the same user in UNIX/Linux.

Just copy the /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow entries, keeping the same user ID, and change the username to the same new username in the copied lines.

This gives you two usernames for the same user. The user can log in as either username. Most tools will show the username and other information from the first entry in the /etc/passwd file.

Then commands like `passwd` and `chage` can manipulate the password and things like account and password expiration information for each username independently.

Basically no code in the world expects you to do this, so proceed at your own risk. It mostly works because the line-oriented format of /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow naturally lends itself to code which just looks for the first matching entry, so most lookups by user ID or user name just start from the top and stop at the first matching line.

After knowing about this trick for years, I eventually ran into one real-world use-case of this: at a previous job, we had some upgrade deployment automation which SSHed into the old instance of a server and then the new one. All the code assumed that both servers have the same username for the SSH user. We needed to change the username in the new instance images, and it was the kind of rare change that doesn't really warrant changing the automation code for. So as a one-off manual pre-upgrade step, I created an alias for the service account on the old instances with the new username. The nice thing about this was that if any configuration anywhere on the server still used the old name, it still worked (the one example I knew of was our sudoers file, but this way we didn't have to worry if there are others that we missed).

So maybe this will help you out at some point too.

Minecraft story mode is the game I vividly remember playing on our xbox in the little room connected to the attic with my sister beside me. I was a Minecraft obsessed kid and this game was so COOL to me at the time. Minecraft??? My beloved game??? But with a story???? That I get to be a part of and change??? Obviously a lot of people don’t like Minecraft story mode and that’s completely understandable, it’s pretty silly and hard to take seriously, but one thing it was was GENUINE. It had unique characters and a story that was new and exciting while still completely grounded in the world of Minecraft. You fought monsters and rode mine carts and interacted with cool red stone stuff and survived a fall from thousands of blocks up by falling into water and when that stupid fucking pig died a pork chop floated on the ground. It was so stupidly, unambiguously, completely, genuinely Minecraft. You were literally a character born and raised in the game. It even had beloved Minecraft YouTubers as guests in a silly murder mystery (that was actually the coolest thing ever ngl). It was for the fans, fully committed to the world the fans already loved. 

Who is this movie even for?? Why does it make this wishy-washy half commitment to the very game it’s adapting?? WHY IS IT ISEKAI?? Where’s the nostalgia?? The childhood experience of playing around in the silly block game with your siblings, not a care in the world?? Why is the sheep on sonic trailer levels of horrifically realistic?? This game is about BLOCKS thats its whole THING that’s why we love it you FOOLS. Why are there curves!? (That can’t happen without mods!!!) WHY IS JACK BLACK HERE?? 

You had such a beautiful, beloved, game with such genuine heart and meaning. The end poem literally makes me CRY and I don’t CARE how stupid that sounds. I don’t even want to try to describe it just go read it. And I just know the movie is going to have such a surface level depiction of what the game is, designed to be brainrot easily consumable for 7 year olds. Something tells me the people who made this movie would just skip past the credits anyways.

🌌 Hmm... I suppose so? I guess I'm questioning that a bit lately... It's a little complicated lately since I used to think we were lucky, though we do have some degree of skills too, I'd say. But it's complicated now because we'd been getting supernatural help. So now I'm not really sure. Though I'd like to still believe in it, and that I am. I certainly feel lucky to have met the wonderful people I have.

And spill their secrets ehe <3 This one's harder for Euphie to answer personally because they are just NOT able to be objective about themself <3 This bitch is full of too much self loathing! If people saw Euphie in the image they project they would indeed assume she was good! But that she's hiding some serious struggles despite how hard she tries to act like she's completely fine. While Euphie's morality is hard to define, they are truly earnestly trying to be good and fight against the urges to be that. They're loyal and would do anything to protect the people they care about, something that they absolutely display. Including a nasty habit of taking hits for others because it's fine, they're resilient and if they die they'll just wake up later, no magic needed. (Don't worry about what that means, it's just a weird curse or something). And they have done good things, with intent to be a better person going forward than they were in the past.

I also included some little sketches for these for funsies! They're probably missing details - I know I missed Euphie's piercings but I will NOT be going back to fix it cause I already redid them bc I wasn't happy with the first sketch. I think the one for me popping in like a little menace to give additional insight on Euphie's is especially fun but I also enjoyed my little chibi experiment for miss leste <3 Euphie also hits that good angsty vibes
