I recently finished another bass guitar repair and restoration project. It's a Jazz Bass copy (or JB-type). I needed parts from three different junk basses that I had bought previously to make this bass guitar look, feel and sound good. I sanded off the brand name from the headstock because this bass is no longer that particular brand. It is now a parts-caster or a Franken-bass I suppose. I'm selling one of my electric bass guitars on Okinawa Bookoo: http://okinawa.bookoo.com/i/72543836 It's a Selder PB-type (Precision-style) electric bass guitar. It's black with a red tortoiseshell pickguard and chrome hardware. I put a lot of time into cleaning and polishing this bass, and I think it looks good. It is used, so there are a few little scratches but they aren't very noticable. I also spent a lot of time dressing the frets. Now, they are leveled, crowned, rounded, and polished smooth. After treating the fretboard, I put on new strings (.045 to .105) and gave this bass a proper setup, so it plays good with low string action and it is intonated. Finally, all of the electronics work properly. This bass guitar was manufactured in China, but it is comparable with my made in China Fender Squire bass. Because of the low price, I recommend this bass for beginners or even as a second bass. If you are new to playing the bass I recommend a few things. First, find a kind teacher or a decent online course that you actually enjoy. I also recommend you buy a clip-on tuner for less than ¥1,000 or US$10. Next, you will eventually need an amplifier (amp) and I suggest a small, inexpensive, used combo amp (possibly 10-30 Watts with a 6-8 inch speaker). Finally, practice every single day even if it is only for a few minutes. I am selling this bass because I simply have too many and I have plans to buy more. Playing and repairing basses and guitars is my hobby. I hope to find a good home for this bass, and I really do hope more and more people will start learning to play a musical instrument because it's certainly a cool hobby and because the world needs more music. My next guitar/bass repair/restoration project is this old Jazz-style electric bass guitar. It isn't a Fender Jazz Bass nor a Squire Jazz Bass. Instead, it's an entry-level brand called Selder. It was made in China. It's used, but a decent enough bass guitar. I bought this bass months ago, but only started working on it this past weekend. When I found it at the secondhand shop, it was labeled as junk. However, I can repair it. I'll clean it up and polish it up good. I'll check and clean all of the electronics. I'll work on the frets and condition the fretboard. I'll put on new strings and give it a proper setup. And then I'll sell it, so it can have a new life. I hope more and more people start playing bass or guitar or some other type of musical instrument because the world needs more music. So the the world needs more musicians. I recently bought a used Squire by Fender Jazz Bass on Yahoo Auction Japan for ¥8,600 (approx. US$79). Of course, it was made in China. It's red and I'm glad because I'm a bit tired of guitars and basses painted black, white or burst. It appears to have ceramic pickups. The pots are of a decent quality. It's wiring is a bit different from most other bass guitars that I've seen with passive pickups. But, it sounds better than other cheap electric basses. It's going to need some loving especially the frets (leveling, crowning, filing ends, polishing). And a good cleaning. I imagine a black pickguard would look better with this red finish. I love guitars especially electric bass guitars.
