Thancred’s putting Urianger’s tomes on the lowest shelf so they’re out of his sight
He's searching for his most recent book of study for quite a while. Neither he nor Y'shtola keep their books in any immediately discernible state of arrangement-- it's all a mutually intuited web of 'leaving some tomes on a given table if they're used recently for this arm of work' or 'middle shelves for magecraft study, sorted by timeliness' or something else equally obtuse and definitely messy-looking.
As such, obviously, when one book isn't where it's supposed to be on the shelf and it's not on the ground next to his desk and it's not left on the last counter he used, something is amiss. Terribly awry, even.
He's left with no other option but to search. Not particularly helping him is the fact he owns many tomes, and simply because one isn't where it should be, that leaves no clues as to where it is. It could well be in the rafters for all he knows. Eventually, though, he comes to find it. On a very bottom rack, sandwiched between two completely unrelated tomes! No one uses the bottom shelf for anything other than the least-used references.

...Sabotage is the only and inevitable conclusion. And there is but one who would do such a thing to him....
Urianger tracks down Thancred, book still in hand so he can bonk the other's crown with it. "Thou hath betrayed me." His tone is flat, trying intentionally to keep any hint of bemusement from voice. "Thou rogue, brigand, scallywag, fiend of indescribable proportion," he could go on. He might. "'Twas thee who hid my studies with the maps, was it not? Sower of chaos, menace 'pon my home." He's having fun now, audibly.
