Indian Statistical Service:  Candidates should obtain a Bachelor's Degree with Statistics / Mathematical Statistics / Applied Statistics as a subject in Statistics / Mathematical Statistics / Applied Statistics from any recognized university.

UPSC IES, ISS Exam 2019:  Pattern of Examination

Examination patterns will include Part I and Part II. Part I will be written examination. Part II will be Viva-Voca of such candidates, which can be called by the Commission with a maximum of 200 marks. Part I examination will be set for a period of three hours.

Question papers will be set in English and should be in North English. The questions of all the subjects in the Indian Economic Service Examination and the Indian Statistical Service Examination will be of traditional (essay) type excluding the Statistics Paper I and the Statistical Paper II, which will be the Objective Type Paper.
