Klaroline fanfic update: Found

I'm working on the next chapter of my Klaroline story, Found. Here's a quick peek:

Chapter 10

            Clean was good. Clean was freeing. Caroline had been scrubbing the tile grout in the bathroom across from her bedroom long enough that her knees were wobbly and sore despite her supernatural healing. The lemon juice and vinegar in her homemade cleaner was overpowering in the small space and she fought the urge to vomit. Ridiculous. Vampires didn’t vomit. Maybe she just sucked at being a vampire.

            She certainly sucked at everything else. The drive back to Mystic Falls somehow was even more grim and soul-scarring than her initial drive to the cabin. She’d run away from Mystic Falls to escape her problems and managed to came back with different problems. Unthinkable problems. She had an affair with Klaus. KLAUS. A wild, passionate, unbelievable affair.            

And she’d stupidly fallen in love. But it was with HER Klaus, she stubbornly reminded herself. NOT the asshole that Klaus reverted back to now that he had his memories.

living with people who Walk Extremely Fast while needing time alone in the shared house spaces to do your basic selfcare/starting-the-day routines + having Trauma around being seen even fucking existing in shared spaces, including a long-ongoing and hefty dose of it from said people themselves, is a living hell actually. especially when they insist on constantly leaving doors wide open that would normally mitigate the house being a fucking panopticon and also give you like two seconds' warning that they're entering the space so you can brace yourself or leave. Chapter 11: Next-Level Bitchiness

Caroline told herself she was being stupid — this wouldn’t be anything like one of her usual breakups where she’d have to endure seeing the ex-boyfriend in the school hallways or in class. She reasoned that Mystic Falls was a small town and for whatever reason, the Originals were still hanging around — not that she’d been checking up on them or anything. It’s not like she even cared that Klaus hadn’t been seen around town since he left the cabin. 

            She knew eventually he’d be back and it would be every shade of awful to see him from afar, but maybe facing her monster on a regular basis would help her get over it faster. The world had robbed her of too many things. If Klaus thought he could steal her dignity on top of that, he had another thing coming. He couldn’t smirk with those dimples if she bit them off.

            Steeling herself, Caroline put on a bland smile with just enough curl to look like herself. As long as no one bothered to look too closely. Which wouldn’t be a problem — when was the last time someone bothered to pay her that kind of attention? Since Klaus.
