The Finalists Of The 2020 Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards Have Been Announced And They Might Crack You Up
After a long wait and a fierce but friendly competition, the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards have announced their finalists. And the photos are so good, they’re bound to make your day brighter.
One of the founders of the Awards, Tom Sullam, told Bored Panda that the competition exists to recognize great photography and pictures of wild animals that make us snort into our cups of tea. The competition also aims to raise awareness about conservation through a humorous, upbeat, and positive association with these animals.
Read on for our full interview with Tom about the competition’s 6th year, scroll down to check out the finalists, upvote your fave photos, and let us know in the comments which picture you’d pick as your winner. Speaking of those, keep an eye out for the winners on October 22! And have a peek at last year’s finalists here and winners here.

“We strongly believe humor and positivity have a major role to play in building awareness, interest, and eventually action towards protecting the animals that live on this planet,” Tom said. “Over the years, the competition has focused more and more on the conservation, working with the Born Free Foundation and promoting conservation efforts around the world.”
He continued: “We, without being too preachy, want to get you all, and ourselves, to behave a tiny bit differently towards the world we live in. The smallest effort achieved towards conservation is better than the biggest effort never started!”
Tom was ecstatic about how well this year's competition was turning out. “We expected this year to be a little bit tricky as a result of COVID restrictions. But quite sensationally and against all better judgment, we received the highest number of entries ever, over 7,000—and the standard across the board has gone up incredibly,” Tom shared.

“It has been such a positive response and such an upbeat process to be part of when so many things in 2020 have been so miserable/depressing/disappointing!”
Tom said that the images coming in at such a high volume have kept his and his team’s spirits up and he hopes they’ll do the same for all of us.
“Choosing the finalists was basically an impossible task, our initial shortlist was over 400, which is three times more than it has ever been. If ever there was a year when many could have won this was it and we genuinely feel terribly sorry for those that we couldn't get into the final 44 (which should have been 40 but we just couldn't reject the other 4).”

Read too:
The award calls itself a cheerful and upbeat photography contest, but with a serious purpose: environmental preservation. Founded by photographers Paul Joynson-Hicks and Tom Sullam, the competition is a partner of the British Born Free Foundation.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for November 13th and is divided into six categories: air creatures, underwater, earth creatures, junior category, best portfolio and public choice. The latter will be decided by online voting on the contest website.
In addition, there is a main winner who wins a safari a week in Kenya for two people and one trophy handmade by an artist from tanzania.

WELCOMING: PARK “PETER” BEOMGYU
CAREER INFORMATION:
━✧ SIGNED: February 27nd, 2014 ━✧ DEBUT: TBA ━✧ GROUP: NEVERLAND ━✧ POSITION: Leader, Main Rapper, Vocalist, Face ━✧ VOICE CLAIMS: Kim Donghan, Samuel Kim, Mark Lee, Sunwoo, Yeonjun
━✧ SOLO DEBUT: August 8th, 2018 ━✧ FANDOM NAME: Tinkerbells ━✧ FANDOM COLOUR: Apple (#4DB342) ━✧ FAN ACCOUNT: N/A
SOLO DESCRIPTION:
Peter’s solo concept is far different than his position in Neverland. He debuted as a performance based vocalist that has a youthful image. Teen Heartthrob as what fans calls his concept. His musicality and message often talks about teen struggles, teenage love, teenage adventures and inspiring the youth in a very upbeat, bubblegum pop genre.
BIOGRAPHY:
Park Beomgyu or professionally known as Peter, is a South Korean Idol. He is first known to the public as a soloist, and later debuted as a member of performance based, fantasy boy group, Neverland.. After the success of his solo debut, months later the company granted Peter a leader position for an upcoming boy group to showcase his leadership, versatility, test his limits, and to explore new genres and concepts that fits his personality more with his peers.
He debuted as a soloist on August 8 2018 with a sound that is far different from his current group’s repertoire. The song ‘ONE’ became such a big hit not only in South Korea, but around Asia, that he even made a Mandarin and Japanese version of the said track. With it’s catchy hook, danceable beat, and addicting choreography, ‘ONE’ made Peter a household name in the industry that also helped his future group get more recognition.
His solo career boosted and he ventured more in the variety scene. Appearing on various variety shows, talk shows, and comedy skits to showcase more of his unique, 4D and comedic personality. This got him more known by the general public who are not into the music scene. In January 2019, he returned with his second solo activity along with the single ‘Bird’ which also became a hit in Korea. The song gave him praises for his musical approach with an rnb beat, yet bright aesthetics and lyrics. With the success of his solo debut, it was revealed that his solo debut is a test for an upcoming boy group that he will be a member of.
Park Beomgyu is an only child to a famous South Korean couple. His father, Park Jinhyuk is a military actor who is known to be in various military movies. Whilst his mother, Nam Jungah is an actress, model and former beauty queen. With parents who are known to be lifestyle influencers, with artistic backgrounds, It was expected that Beomgyu will be just like them. And it turns out he is. His childhood was quite simple. Being surrounded with people who appreciate art, Beomgyu got influenced. At such a young age, he would take ballet lessons, piano lessons, and even the violin. He also got into painting and specially singing after watching several broadway musicals and opera shows with his parents.
At the age of seven, he managed to convince his family to get him enrolled to a music and dance school, in which his family supported unconditionally. In there, he received professional training in terms of his vocals, and dance. He even enhanced his instrument playing skills from all the special classes. He had been going to that school for almost five years until his family decided that he should study in New York for better understanding about broadway. He was hesitant at first because he’s already doing so well and he already made friends in South Korea.
After much thought, he finally agreed to study abroad and try new things. At the age of thirteen, he finally flew to New York along with his older cousin and studied there for two years. At first, he struggled a lot. Not because of language barriers. English is no problem for him, since he had been speaking the language for as long as he can remember. He struggled mostly in terms of culture. Everything was so new to him, and it almost felt like he was an alien, discovering a new world. In those two years, he realized that all he ever wanted to do with his life is become a pop star. And after two years, once he stepped foot back in Seoul, he asked his family’s support to allow him to join The Voice Teens.
The Voice Teens is a spin-off in Korea from a worldwide known tv show, The Voice. Whereas teenagers competes to be coached by famous popstars and perform every week against other contestants. He got so far to top 10 finalists, and was the first one to get eliminated. He didn’t accept his ranking as a failure, but as an achievement. He remained positive and humble for where he’s at and at least, he finally got his name out there. It was a learning experience for him.
After his appearance on the show, he got contacted by several music labels, in which he took time to research each and every company. He doesn’t want to make a quick decision only to regret it later. It takes time as what his father always tells him. He decided that Termina Entertainment will be the one he’ll join in. The idea of freedom of expression in music, art and dance that Termina offers is all he could wish for in a music label. In there, he trained even harder to improve his skills and learn new things, and grow as a real performer. And years later, he finally debuted as a soloist, using songs he produced, written and choreography that he came up with. 2019, he is revealed to be the leader of an upcoming boy group, Neverland.
