we have the kind of media literacy that makes us a king among men on booktok but a blubbering idiot on tumblr
#we need to watch video essays on medias so we can steal their opinions on themes and shit (feigned intelligence)#we're decent at analyzing quality through a meta lens and whether or not something is glorification offensive etc#but unless we can figure something out by very literal interpretations we're done for#until we were 15 we found the concept of themes stupid because from our perspective nothing except like#those animal stories everyone knows has themes#now we're aware but we still default to the interpretation of thinking the author thought these order of events was cool n shit#ap lit was hell on earth for exactly this reason. we had to have the themes told to us#and other reasons too but. man we don't understand symbolism#people are like 'omg connor you should get into stories with unreliable narrators theyre so good' we should NOT sorry#at least we're self aware
