Reasons to Detox
 Although Winter is still in full force, a lot of us are looking ahead, with anticipation for Spring. And there's no better time to prepare for the opportunities that abound in that season -- then now.
Springtime is the perfect season to clean out the clutter in your house and simplify your life. It is also the optimal time to detoxify your body, feel cleansed, energized, and on a path to healthy living. The process of detoxification is natural to any living organism and involves the removal of waste material from the body.
Our major organs of detoxification are the liver, kidneys, colon, and skin. A balanced and comprehensive approach to support and enhance the functions of each is critical for achieving optimal health and wellness. Detox programs vary widely and can last for a few days to as long as several months.
However regardless of how much or little time you can spare for a detox, each successful cleansing program must incorporate these 5 aspects:
Dietary     modifications
Supportive     supplementation
Lifestyle     suggestions
Mental/emotional     cleansing
Spiritual     health
5 Steps to a Cleansing Detox:
1. Dietary modifications
During a detox regimen, a whole-foods, hypo-allergenic diet is recommended. It is best to avoid any common, suspected and known food allergens such as wheat and dairy. It is also prudent to avoid most refined foods such as sugar, white pasta, white rice, white bread, red meat, and most packaged foods. Eat when you feel hungry. You can also jumpstart the liver detoxification process in the morning by drinking a glass of warm water with fresh squeezed lemon juice. It is best to wait 30 minutes before eating breakfast in order to maintain those helpful enzymes.
Focusing your diet on liver supportive foods is highly recommended even when not on a detox. The foods that protect the liver and aid in detoxification include the cruciferous family of vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli, and brussel sprouts. Dark leafy greens such as dandelion
and kale, are chock full of nutrients and fiber to help your colon eliminate effectively. Other helpful foods include garlic, beets, turmeric, green tea, and a variety of berries.
2. Supportive supplementation
Although a detox without additional supplements can still be effective many choose to add these as “boosters” to to augment the detoxification process. Specific supplements may be used to support the liver, aid kidney and bowel function as well as maintain a healthy digestive tract. With all supplements, an individualized approach is recommended and seeking advice from a trained healthcare professional is a must.

Exercise – is crucial in supporting     the cleansing process. It helps to relax the body and clear wastes. Any     non-stressful activity that you enjoy will help you rest, recuperate and     encourage your body’s detoxification. Aim for a frequency of at least     3X/week. Examples include: yoga, pilates, dance classes, tai-chi...etc.
Dry skin brushing – This easy and inexpensive     habit helps improve lymphatic drainage and has the added bonus of     exfoliating your skin. Simply use a soft brush or loofah and prior to     bathing, gently brush your body in long strokes. Start at the feet and     hands, working your way up, and always stroking towards the heart. This     can be done every day, year round. Skip this if you have any skin     conditions such as ezcema or unhealed wounds.
Contrast Showers - Alternating warm and cool     water water temperatures while in the shower increases circulation and is     a simple, effective way to improve your metabolism. Start with three     minutes of hot water (or as warm as you can tolerate) followed by less     than one minute of cold water (or as cool as you can tolerate). Repeat     this pattern at least twice, and always finish with cold.     Do not attempt this exercise if you have very low blood pressure or have     any serious heart conditions.
Rest- A critical component of allowing body to     detoxify and heal is ensuring adequate rest. Although sleeping 8 hours is     generally recommended, some people may need more or less to feel     refreshed.Take naps if you can and remember to always listen to your body.    
4. MENTAL/EMOTIONAL
Many of us carry around emotional baggage which can be detrimental to our health and wellbeing. It is a good idea to take steps to cleanse your mind and emotions as well. Some easy tips for this include;

Ever wondered about your chemical composition? Remember always that we’re firstly atoms, and from atoms we get the molecules (organic and inorganic) that makes our whole body function.

So, basically we are made of Carbon, Oxygen, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Sulfur. An example of one of these molecules (that I already told before, I know) is the H20, 70% of what composes our body.

Here we can see the molecule, formed by two atoms of hydrogen and one of oxygen. Water works also as our solvent, though it only dissolves polar solvent since it’s a covalent bond, which means it’s a neutral molecule (there’s no gain or lost of eletrons), that’s why the oil (lipids basically) doesn’t “get together” with the water, the molecules of oil.
                        THE INORGANIC COMPOUNDS
“Generally, the inorganic compounds are those ones whose doesn’t have a carbon atom in it’s structure/molecule. Like water and mineral salts, that can be found in two types in the organism, as dissolved ions (atoms that got more or lost it’s eletrons) and also it works regulating the enzymatic activity, bonding to proteins or others.” Below, there’s a good example of how these mineral salts work, “the potassium and sodium auxiliates balancing the osmosis and the conduction of the nervous impulsion through the neurones (basic structural cell of the nervous system). ”

                          THE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS 
The organic compounds are complex and “and mostly full of energy”. These are formed by carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, vitamins and nucleic acid. 
Carbohydrates (glucids) - they have a role as an energetic fountain and participate on formation of some structures. They give quick energy and are absorbed fast. It’s divided in three groups:
monossacharides - the real sugar and more simple than the others.  The amount of Carbon varies between at least three or eight. Glucose, Fructose, Galactose. Also they create one important part of the RNA and DNA, Ribose and Deoxyribose.
disaccharide - one of the most important oligosaccharide, formed by two or more monossacharides, like the Sucrose (Glucose+Fructose) or Lactose (Glucose-Galactose).
polysaccharides - constituted by the union of a bunch of monossacharides, they’re not soluble on water like the others and don’t have sweet flavor either. The most important ones are the Cellulose (the cell wall of a vegetable), Glycogen (works just like the Starch on plants, but they’re in animals) and Starch (the reserve of energy of the plant).
Lipids - “organic compound unsoluble on water and soluble on alcohol or ether”. It gives even more energy than the Carbs and also function as a thermal insulator on some animals, ex: sealion. There are a lot of types of lipids, such as oil and fat, wax, phospholipids (the most part of the plastic membrane), steroids (hormones). Also, there’s the cholesterol that’s transported by a protein, divided in two types HDL (the good one), LDL (the bad one), that’s because the good one transports the cholesterol from the arteries to the liver, where’s it’s inactivated and the bad one transports from the liver to all other cell tissues and also to the arteries, acumulating in it’s walls or veins, conducting to an AVC.
Vitamins - “generally not produced on our system, but obtained through food”.
Proteins - formed by amino acids. “the human being uses around twenty amino acids to constructe a lot of different proteins”. they’re also part of the membrane plasma and the organeles that have membrane and a lot of other things in the organism that’s fundamental to grow up. “To produce more cells, you need more proteins”. Within their types, there are those important ones antibodies, some hormones, enzymes that helps to differ and produce the chemical reactions, acting as catalyst.

painting finished "summer breeze" watercolors, handmade milk ink, commercial pigment inks, pigments, acrylics, gouache on primed watercolor paper, 30x40 cm it looks like milk makes good inks together with pigments. It is the easiest available binder, cheap, no irritating chemicals added, works together with watercolors, gouache and acrylics. Dries to a relatively unsoluble state. Doesn't change the colors of the pigments, as far as I can see up to now. Makes a strong bond with paper. All you have to do is adding a few milliliters of milk to half a teaspoon or so of pigment, stir for about half a minute with a brush, and the ink is ready to use. I didn't yet test it with many pigments. It works well with Ultramarine and Iron oxide pigments. It could be a good method for making earth pigment colors on the go, just as you need them for a painting. Downside is that you cannot store the ink for a long time. After one or two days at room temperature it turns into yoghurt. Metamucil for loss?
Metamucil for loss is not the way for anyone to lose weight. Metamucil may be a good product for those that are having some kind of problem with constipation but more and more you see it marketed as a supplement instead of a short term solution to a problem.
Metamucil for loss
The Resonance Partnership blog today had an article on the dark side of marketing where it seems like the makers of Metamucil are trying to get people to take the product as just what seems to be a bad thing and that is as a supplement to “clean” your insides. I would not usually be too concerned about this kind of an article but after looking at the post you can see how this may lead people to look at the new marketing plan as a shortcut to an eating disorder.
I have not covered eating disorders much in the past but this article woke me up to the fact that I should be looking at this more in the future.
So what Metamucil for loss does is that it uses the soluble and unsoluble fiber to get rid of bulk in the body. The trouble is that when you have a problem with this is a very bad way to get rid of extra , the will not come off but a lot of the nutrients will be stripped out of your system.
So please do not use Metamucil for weight loss.
