au where su doesnt have a shitload of racism issues
#len squeaks#trust me im aactually a fan of the show n its one of the four horsemen of the apocolypse even if im not too active in the fandom at all#but i acknowledge the many issues in the show itself n how it couldve done so much better withouth the racism#example garnet and amethyst are black (i didnt know amethyst was black prior to learning this im sorry) n their fusion is seen as dangerous#but if they fuse with anyone else its not dangerous for whatever reason#HMMM. SUSPICIOUS#i also heard that theres no black women as writers in the show despite there being a lot of black characters? tho i ddint look too into that#unrelated to racism but theres also a thing in the show where they portray people with mental health issues as monsters#specifically in steven universe future#although yes it does show that having a childhood thats the equivalent of an anime would take a serious toll on a kids mental health#sense steven experienced a lot of emotional neglect from the gems and probably his dad too#it doesnt exactly handle it well in the finale#cuz he turned into a monster at the end cuz he couldnt suppress his anger anymore. quite literally#he does get help from everyone cuz they all showed him that they do in fact love him and hes not bad. but even then#thats not a good way to portray people with mental health issues especially if the issues are tied in with anger#this is coming from someone who is mentally ill and has anger issues caused from the illnesses btw.#they couldve handled it so much better by Not making him turn into a monster and instead just. idk. maybe experience a different change#like maybe he gets really big and has a meltdown but hes not this fuckin reptile thing n instead just his normal fucking self#anyway steven universe has racism and mental-ilness-portrayal issues and that sucks ass#i still like the show ofc! im not leaving the fandom. but to the other fans PLEASE acknowledge the issues#and PLEASE understand that even know the show is good lgbt rep its not really the best rep in other places#good lgbt representation doesnt immediately make a show great or invalidate any other issues it may have.
