Perhaps my favorite thing about “I Am The Dog” (the song not the whole album) is the juxtaposition between the initial lyric of “loving you’s my favorite house” with “loving you’s my only house”. The first time is like ‘okay yeah so loving and obsession and codependency moment is like voluntary’ before it gobsmacks with ‘no it isn't lol’. I actually don't know that the song is about emotional codependency and one person being your world and sense of safety but as someone who can identify with that (someone who is hardcore projecting) like. It lines up. Because a lot of time you really don't hate dealing out affections and like a big thing is the sense of safety you don't get anywhere else. It’s in those moments where your little romantic vision of the perfect savior is affirmed and you're on cloud nine. But that comes crashing down and fast. And it dawns on you that what you thought you had a hold on, the little quirk with how you love, has now completely consumed your whole life and has ruined the very images you sought to achieve. Fun fact actually codependent relationships are not healthy and quite often lead to resentment. I'm rambling but I think that shows how GOOD the song is like beyond reaching me like no Sir Chloe song has since my initial listens to a few of the songs on Party Favors, probably even more than that tbh (and I love Party Favors to bits), it's just. It's amazing. This song is driving me insane send help lol.
