I didn’t update yesterday because I forgot and I was tired. Either way, I finished.

The whole damn book. The last ten thousand words or so are a giant fucking mess, but they exist. And maybe I wrote the last few hundred words past midnight, but I did hit 80k before that, so I’mma say it’s fine.

You’re getting a snippet today, but it’s not random and it’s not good. It’s just the last line, because it feels so damned good to finally have written it.

I’m done. It’s all done. I can rest now.

Despite several drawing attempts, I can’t seem to settle decisively on a good design for dragons. That means that there is no way to say that this thing here is in any way wrong.

Just over 2k today. I could do more, easily. Still an hour to midnight and this is y most productive time of day, but I have a job interview tomorrow (!!!) and want to go to bed early if I can.

I’m getting so close to the end of this thing, honestly. Just a few more things left before I can really get into the climax, and there’s a week left of the month.

I broke through 60k!

Also today, I wrote 2k+ words of a single, drawn out, mass murder and its immediate consequences. Also the original single murder that the mass murder was a consequence of. It was fun.

I described the air as tasting like glass in this. I’m rather proud of that one.

November update.

3k today. We’re really closing in on the end here. I broke 70k today and I’m not slowing down. Not now. This is the last thing that needs to happen, but my outline of it is also a mess. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what had to happen when and how I should have it all hang together, so I’ll just work with what I have and hope.

Also, at least one of you said you liked the snippets, so you’re still getting those. Lucky you.

Because it was shaped like a circle, the village. When the tide of the veil was at its peak, they pulled the whole marketplace through in one solid piece, taking up all the space it could and crushing anything in its way. The buildings of the village had been built around it, even when the marketplace itself was elsewhere. Most of the demons would be inside, though at night, some of them would venture outdoors, protected from the environment however they could, to show their wares.

Well. You’re actually getting something this time.

Not surprising. My writing was very rambly today. Lots of big paragraphs.

This whole thing is probably a spoiler, honestly. But hey, you wouldn’t be reading this if you were worried about spoilers of this book. I hope.

November update!

Over 2k words today, and another thousand after midnight. Finished one of the more dramatic parts, and the first actual death appears. No one we’re attached to, but it has its consequences.

He ignored them, for now. He knew how valuable the pendant was. He was more attached to it for its uses than its price.

Ah, yes. Finally some uses come from this fancy Checkhovs gun I’ve been dangling about. There’s an actual gun as well, but that won’t be fired until later. :P

Also, I’ve been thinking it’s about time to post some excerpts on the actual nano page soon, and maybe not randomized ones, this time.

If I do, I’ll post about it here too, probably. That’ll be much more interesting than these literally random out-of-context lines.

Wrote just a couple hundred words shy of 3k today, so I could have done worse, considering how much I just wanted to sleep, earlier today.

Past 25k words total. Closing in on the midpoint of my outline. We’ll see what happens from here on.

Philosophy about animal lives while literally covered in fairies. I had fun with this whole chapter. Pretty sure Eris and Parsi interacting was the best idea I could have had. Also, Eris’s point of view is a hell of a lot more fun to write than I thought it would be, so that’s nice.

In other news, I passed 40k today. So that’s nice.

This part involves aaaall the backstory, a lot of worldbuilding, and a strong defence of polyamory.

The polyamory surprised me as well, but eh, I like it.

Also, Parsi is confirmed asexual, it seems. I was just planning to imply that, but he wanted to explain it, even if he doesn’t have a word for it. Possibly he’s some manner of grey-aromantic as well, if we’re to judge from the ‘only ever fell in love a single time and is happy with that’ thing.

The exclamation point is actually warranted this time, I feel. I wrote 8282 words today.

Didn’t quite double my wordcount, but I did beat my previous daily best, and since that happened a day I dind’t sleep at all during the night and also did nothing but write, I’m pretty sure this is a greater accomplishment.

Anyway, you get two separate random daily snippets today. Because I’m proud of myself and also wrote a fuckton of words holy shit.

The path widened. The sound got impossibly louder. Someone tripped.

Ah, lucky you. You get a sentence from the middle of the actual avalanche happening, where everyone are so scared and confused and frantic it’s basically impossible to figure out what’s going on. Oh well

Oh well, if she was awake, she was awake. Laying here until someone decided to carry her home was not an actual option, no matter how tempting it sounded.

I know the feeling, Werohe. Unfortunately, you’re in the middle of the mountains and need to reach shelter before the next sundown, because you don’t want to sleep outside any more than you absolutely have to. Not after an avalanche like that.

November update

2.4k words. Not the worst I’ve done, definitely. I also almost finished the battle scene. I have no idea how battle scenes work, so that’s good. Just the big dramatic thing left now before we can head towards the climax.

November update!

3k today. Seems like a nice number. If only I could keep this pace out november, but we’re really getting into the action now. As in, tomorrow I’ll have to write an actual battle. I’ve never done that before. It’ll be interesting.

November update!

This is it, we’ve begun. The first words have been written. The first large batch of words, actually.

I said I’d cut the outline into pieces and write a piece per day, and I have. The wordcount of the first piece turned out to be about twice the normal daily wordcount of 1667, that is, 3333, and I am fine with that. It’s a good start.

Lat year, I did this thing where I used a random number generator to give you a random snippet of what I’d written that day every day, so let’s do that this time too.

Here we go for the first random daily snippet of 2017!

“It’s like two pages in a book,” Eris shot in. She held her hands out, one over the other, almost, but not quite, touching. “They’re really close together, but a man drawn on one page wouldn’t be able to see a man drawn on the other, because they’re not the same page, makes sense?”

Not a bad paragraph, really. This is Eris attempting to explain the metaphysics of parrallel universes. Specifically, how the demon realm and the human realm can be closer in some places than in others, though that part is a few paragraphs further down.

Otherwise in this part, Werohe makes a stupid desicions, gods are talked about and disbelieved, a lot of money changes hands, and a prostitute is hired.

November update!

So, uh, guess who wrote over three thousand words today and just passed 50k?

I did.

Huh.

I’m not even remotely done with the book yet, though. The outline says I just finished part 14 of 20, but again, some of the last ones are probably a lot larger than the ones I’ve done until now. All I want is to finish this thing before the end of November. I don’t think I’ll feel like a real winner until then.

Anyways, this is cause for celebration, so today you get two daily snippets!

She thought.

... fuck that, you get three. This isn’t a snippet, it’s half a sentence masquerading as a paragraph.

And then they found the path heading up.

At least this is kind of a sentence. The path heading up what? Their doom, probably. They don’t even know how accurate that is and they’re already in mortal danger.

(Why’s it even called that? ‘Mortal’ doesn’t mean ‘lethal’. You can’t kill danger, usually. It’s the ones who are in danger that’re about to get killed. It doesn’t make sense.)

She took care at every step, making sure she would not slip before she even thought about continuing.

Ah, yes. The only logical way to scale a cliff side.
